I wasn't going to post this because of the public nature of the boards, but in light of the recent discussions, here goes:

Had to drop out of chat suddenly on Friday. DS began telling me all the ways he had thought about harming himself that day. He didn't want to get in trouble anymore and decided if he killed himself, he wouldn't get in trouble. Spent that evening in the ER where the head of child psychology determined he was fit to go home. The thoughts (no actions so far, just expressing his thoughts) of hurting himself kept up all weekend, and intensified when we were meeting with his psychiatrist yesteray. They admitted him to the ER right away and finally found a spot at a crisis facility late that evening.

For now he's in for a minimum of 3 days. The doctors will determine if he needs to be in longer. They are already telling me that 3 days is usually not enough time to do a good evaluation.

While I'm devastated that my son was so distraught to think of hurting himself, I am so relieved that he never acted on those thoughts. And I am encouraged that maybe we can finally get all the agression, disobedience, and apparently depression under control.

Monica, I am so sorry that you are going through this but TG that your son felt that it was okay to tell you how he was feeling before he acted on it. You are in my prayers:grouphug:

Beginning this fall, Disney Cruise Line will introduce Onboard Airline Check-In, a new service that enables qualified guests to check-in for their post-cruise flights while on board the Disney Magic or Disney Wonder, eliminating the need to do so at Orlando International Airport. Guests participating in Onboard Airline Check-In will not have to collect their luggage upon debarkation, since checked luggage will be transported directly from the ship to the guest's flight. While on the cruise, guests' boarding passes will be delivered to their staterooms the day prior to disembarkation. Upon the ship's return to Port Canaveral, participating guests can proceed directly to Customs and then to Orlando International Airport where they bypass check-in and continue straight to airport security and on to their assigned departure gate. To take advantage of this service, guests will need to meet certain requirements and be booked on a domestic flight on one of the seven participating air carriers: AirTran Airways, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, Northwest Airlines, or United Airlines/Ted. Eligible guests will be able to enroll for Onboard Airline Check-in by completing pre-registration information received at Orlando International Airport or one of the Disney Cruise Line Hospitality Desks at the Walt Disney World Resort and turning it in during check-in at Port Canaveral.

I called DCL and was told this was still an experiment. I was told maybe by EBPC all trips will be doing this. This was how the magical express was started.

How are you Andrew???? Its been a long time.:sad2: I guess maybe you actually have to work???:goodvibes How is the family.
Our dollar has even dropped more. I can see why you paid off your trip. :rotfl2: ;)

Hello yes fine, dropped in here at the weekend, currently work is busy and I have cut my time on the dis and Internet, Yesterday didn't get home to past 9.00pm as I had to travel to the Midlands, on the 'coach from hell'! with the driver from hell.

Even with satellite navigation the driver was able to take the wrong route two times on our motorways and ran a number of red lights.

Family fine, DCL cruise and DL paid for as dollar is good, and just organized all my flights for 2008 into LAX and out of MCO Orlando.

I just wanted to let everyone know Castoff alias Tina will be having surgery on Friday. She wanted me to tell everyone she will be back. She has been busy handling some medical problems. I know if any of you will include her in your prayers, she would love it.:cloud9:

Thanks for letting us know Cheryl - I will be sure to keep her in mine.

Happy Birthday Kristina!!!!!!!!

Anyone read on the main board that you can now pre-pay your gratuities? One less thing depleting my onboard acct? Count me in! :thumbsup2 That means more Bahama Mamas baby! :cool1:

I know I know I'm still paying for them, but it just makes it a little less painful when DH sees that final bill! :rolleyes1

I saw that too Diane and thought the same thing!

They left out the part about having to get DCL transfers and what that costs for this service

Our pirate costumes are doing double duty too. We are wearing them for MNSSHP on 11-2 & then for the TOAL! The problem is, I've bought a few things off the internet & I'm not too happy with the quality so far. Some of the stuff I received is very cheap & cheesy looking! I bought a pair of pirate boots that smell like cheap plastic so bad they literally made me nauseous & they weren't inexpensive! :sad2:

Well I bought the costumes on the Disney Store so we can pretty much just keep our fingers crossed they will last being worn twice.:lmao: I have not had the best experience with their quality.

I have transfers anyway because it is not too expensive for just two of us. Just think of $10 I will save NOT to get a sky cap to load my luggage on the bus after customs. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Uhhhh..... We will not be going through MCO, WDW or PC to fill out the pre-registration forms. :confused3 If this happens do you think they may have them on board or in LA? I too am thinking about adding DCL transfer from PC to MCO just for the curbside check-in.

OK, Sara & I have discussed this, and we've decided that we will (on one of the sea days) have a

Hawaiian Shirt Contest

Just for us DISers. Sara and I will be primary judges and prizes will be given in the various categories - children, matched sets, off the rack, custom, best themed, etc (we're still working on them).

GRAND PRIZE

will be a Hawaiian shirt made to measure by Sara from a fabric of your choice (you have to buy the fabric & Sara will turn it into a shirt)...

Anyone interested in volunteering to judge, please PM me or Sara.

Love this idea. :cool1: I will just have to choose which one of the 6-7 I am bringing to be judged.

 I have been thinking of another sea day activity when Mike brought up the Hawaiian shirt contest. Last Christmas, I made pirate maps up with clues on each and hid them around the house. Each map had a clue to where the next map was located. The final prize was a small treasure chest with our tickets to WDW/Wonder trip this summer. The girls thought this was the greatest gift ever, not the trip but the scavenger hunt.

Could we plan our own Pirate Scavenger Hunt on a sea day? Maybe with teams and maps (clues) to where the next map or item was located? With the whole ship at our disposal it could be a lot of fun. I know DCL has there own scavenger hunt, but we could put a pirate twist to it. All of you creative pirates out there can come up with some more ideas for this. :confused3 I would be happy to make the maps before we leave.

That sounds like a LOT of fun!!

I was very excited that my family received our Castaway Club cards in the mail today. We were on DCL for the first time recently. As non-CC members, it was impossible for us to book Brunch at Palo's on our cruise. We didn't even get a dinner because of the timing. I am hoping that now we will have a good chance of getting Brunch on the PC cruise. I'm sure 99.99% will be CC members, but at least we won't be in the .01% group. I just read that repeat cruisers receive gifts when the cruise, I am just wondering,"what type of gifts have you received?"

Have you all seen this?

Maybe DCL will head to Hawaii some time soon.:wizard:

Disney Expands Resort Business on Oceanfront Property in Hawaii
Luxury Family Resort Planned for Ko Olina

Walt Disney Parks & Resorts recently announced plans to purchase 21 acres of oceanfront property on Hawaii's island of Oahu. The property, as envisioned in the artist rendering, will be home to Disney's first mixed-use family resort outside of its theme parks and is scheduled to open in 2011. (Photo: Business Wire) BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Walt Disney Parks & Resorts (NYSE:DIS) announced today that the company has finalized plans to purchase 21 acres of oceanfront property on Hawaii's island of Oahu.

The property, located on the island's western side in the picturesque Ko Olina Resort & Marina, Honolulu's premier resort destination, will be home to Disney's first mixed-use family resort outside of its theme park developments. The expansive resort, scheduled to open in 2011, will have more than 800 units including hotel rooms and villas for Disney Vacation Club, which is Disney's rapidly growing timeshare business.

"This resort hotel will give our guests another way to visit an exciting part of the world with a brand they trust," said Jay Rasulo, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts. "In fact, Hawaii has been among our most requested Disney Vacation Club getaway locations beyond our theme parks. We are looking forward to building a special family resort that honors the cultural diversity of Hawaii and reflects the spirit of aloha that makes this location so unique."

Consistently ranked as one of the top family destinations in the world, Hawaii's natural beauty and extensive offering of family activities make it an ideal location for a Disney resort.

"Disney and Hawaii have something special in common, and that is the recognition of the importance of ‘ohana,’” said Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle. "We are pleased that a company known for providing families with a way to spend quality time together is investing in Hawaii. This is a wonderful opportunity for our residents who will develop careers at the new resort as well as people from around the world, who will visit our state to stay at this exciting new destination. Disney’s presence in Hawaii opens new opportunities for innovative partnerships in non-tourism-related sectors, including new media and digital technology.”

Upon completion, the resort hotel is anticipated to create more than 1,000 new jobs on Oahu and opportunities to develop long-term professional careers. Disney was recently named one of the top places to launch a career by Business Week magazine and is a competitive employer.

Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann said, "As a mayor who works out of Kapolei on a regular basis and who has launched numerous economic development initiatives there, I know people in West Oahu will be excited that Disney has decided to build its new resort in Ko Olina. My family and I have visited most of the Disney parks and resorts around the world, and are huge Disney fans. I believe that Disney can help our city build a livable community in Kapolei where people can live, work and raise their families. We look forward to welcoming Disney to Honolulu as our new corporate neighbor."

Ko Olina

The new resort hotel will be the latest addition to the Ko Olina development, known for its sweeping ocean views, picture-postcard white sand beaches and tranquil crystal blue lagoons.

Jeff Stone, President of The Resort Group and master developer of Ko Olina, has been working closely with Disney on the land acquisition and project. "Ko Olina means 'place of joy,’ and I can't imagine a more perfect fit here than a Disney resort that will bring joy to people from around the world," Stone said. "For many years, it has been our vision to continue to expand Ko Olina as a premier vacation destination for families and business travelers, and this new Disney resort hotel is making that vision a wonderful reality."

Senate President Colleen Hanabusa said, “Disney is known for making dreams come true, and the choice of Disney to build its new resort on the leeward side of Oahu sends a positive message to our youth. This will be a place that residents will be proud to see built, and having Disney as a neighbor has the potential to inspire our youth to dream about the possibilities for the future right here in our own community.”

Disney Vacation Club

Part of the Disney resort hotel in Ko Olina will be dedicated to Disney Vacation Club, a timeshare program that helps families enjoy flexibility and savings on vacations for decades to come. By becoming a member of Disney Vacation Club, families can enjoy vacations at Disney destinations worldwide as well as more than 500 other popular Member Getaways vacation locations around the globe.

Disney Vacation Club has grown to serve more than 350,000 individual members from more than 100 countries and all 50 U.S. states.

“We are delighted to create a place in Hawaii that our Disney Vacation Club members can call home,” said Jim Lewis, President of Disney Vacation Club. “We know that both our existing members and new members will be thrilled about this resort in Ko Olina.”

Design Work

Designs for the resort are still being finalized by Walt Disney Imagineers, who have been traveling extensively throughout Hawaii for the past several months as they garner ideas to develop a resort celebrating Hawaii's vibrant culture and rich heritage. The team is working closely with local architects, engineers and cultural advisors, conducting research and exploring the region, building on a tradition that has long been a hallmark in the creation of everything from Disney films to Disney vacation destinations.

Plans for the resort hotel are expected to be finalized and revealed in early 2008.

Disney's Hawaiian Heritage

While the announcement marks Disney's first resort hotel development in Hawaii, the company's love affair with the islands began in the company's infancy with founder Walt Disney. From the 1937 Mickey Mouse animated short "Hawaiian Holiday" to the Hawaiian setting of Disneyland's groundbreaking Enchanted Tiki Room attraction, which debuted in 1963 and established the Audio-Animatronics art form, to the inclusion of Disney's Polynesian Resort at the Walt Disney World Resort, Walt often pulled inspiration from the popular islands.

Walt Disney Pictures continued the Hawaiian legacy in 2002 with the hit animated film “Lilo & Stitch,” an original story about a Hawaiian girl who tames a seemingly untamable alien by teaching the meaning of “ohana,” the Hawaiian tradition of family. The Walt Disney Company also does extensive film work in Hawaii, including on-location production for the hit ABC series “Lost.” The feature film “Pearl Harbor” was also shot on location in Oahu.

"We are very excited about becoming part of the Ko Olina community," Rasulo said. "Clearly, Hawaii already has a special place in our hearts and in Disney's history. Building a resort hotel in Hawaii is the next chapter in our effort to create immersive Disney experiences that allow families to reconnect and recharge in the areas of the world they most long to visit."

And of course a map

Roger this is why I called.:goodvibes I said we will not be at MCO,WDW, and PC so what happens.:confused3 She went to ask a supervisor and was told this was a trial period to see how it works. :thumbsup2 I said it would be great if the proper forms were included with our documents. I always had to wait to get a boarding pass at the airport and most of the time no seats were available by the time I checked in.:sad2: I sure hope this happens for all of us.
