Since I am mostly new, here is a little bit about me:

My family is me, just turned 37. DH, 38. DS15, DD13, DS12, DD10, DD2.

We are a pretty close knit family and we are all having a blast with our late addition. Little Jessie (DD2)is a super happy friendly, funny girl and is completely spoiled by the big kids.:

We have 5 children, also! But, ours are spread aprt in age 27ds, 24dd (getting married next month in Cancun), 16dd, 9ds & 6dd --- and yes they allhave the same mom and dad! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We love to travel. Our trips in 2007 have included a ski trip to Whistler, Spring break in San Francisco and then we took the train down to Disneyland for 4 days. Our summer trip was to Yellowstone (this was our first driving trip since we had little one #5) Stuffing all of us in the minivan and driving 2500 miles (55 hours in the car) was an absolute blast! The kids are getting so big and it was a lot harder to fit us all in the van. With some strategic packing and the car top carrier, I managed to fit all of our stuff for 10 days. I kind of figured that this was practice packing for our Panama canal trip. But as I reminded my husband, we didn't need to pack formal clothes and nice outfits for dinner for this trip. So I have NO idea how we are going to accomplish that for the cruise. We will probably have to take 2 vans to the airport. How crazy is that!:

What fun! Travel has always been important to us -- one year I added up all of the time the kids and I were out of town and it totaled 4 months of the year! ;) Two of the children and I did an ABD this past August and we are planning on doing one of the Italy tours in 2009 with some people we met on the Dis!

Then we are taking my MIL and FIL to Mexico for my MIL's 60th birthday in November. That will be so relaxing compared to every other trip we have done lately.

FUN! We took FIL to Cancun years ago for his 60th -- to go deep sea fishing.

We have done 4 Disney Cruises before and even the teenagers are fine with leaving their friends for that long because they love the cruises that much!

Nice to re meet y'all!

Poohmom :hippie:

If we aren't able to fit in another DCL before August this will be our 4th Disney cruise.

So, nice to met you! And Ihave to skip pages many weeks! LOL! I homeschool our youngest 3 children -- I homeschooled our oldest two.

Nice to meet you too! Are you going to have a hard time leaving the kids? We have talked about going without them and we do a short 3-4 day trip without the kids every year, but this seems so long to be without them. Are they mad that they aren't going?

Poohmom :hippie:

I was wondering that same thing -- I think our children would stop speaking to us if we went without them! LOL!
16dd heard her dad tell me that he would like just the 2 of us to go to WDW for the F & W festival at Epcot and I thought she was going to cry! :rotfl:

Hi everyone, I am playing catch-up from about a week.

I have a game for those of you who are so inclined.
Homework assignment that I thought would be fun to see what you all come up with.
It is called Phun Metric Conversions
Figure out what each of these measures would be equivalent to. Using a basic list of metric prefixes.
such as yocto- , zepto, atto, femto, pico, nano, micro, milli, centi, deci, base, deca, hecto, kilo, mega, giga, tera, peta, exa, zetta, yotta,

Example: 10 rations = decorations
2000 mockingbird = to kill a mockingbird

Problems: 1 trillion pins
100 rations
3 and 1/3 trident
200 withitz
2 monograms
10 monologs
4 nickels
2 wharves
6 curses
10 to the 100th eyes
2000 lbs of chinese soup
453.6 graham crackers
8 catfish
a million pains
2 snake eyes
1/2 large intestine
500 millinaries
1 kg of falling figs
1 kilo -ships
1000 cc of wet socks
16.5 ft in the Twilight Zone

BTW, these are the ones I don't have answers too so I can't tell you if you are right or not. But might be fun for you math types to figure out.

Have fun.

My answers below (hidden in case others want to figure them out). I'd seen most of these before -- a few took some thinking.

I was wondering that same thing -- I think our children would stop speaking to us if we went without them! LOL!
16dd heard her dad tell me that he would like just the 2 of us to go to WDW for the F & W festival at Epcot and I thought she was going to cry! :rotfl:

Well if it wasn't for 3 factors, my DD would have been the same way. The first is like I said Grandma is coming, which due to them moving to WA last year she only gets to see her now every 6 mo or so. The second was that she knows it's mom and dad's anniversary, so she understands why we are going by ourselves. The third is that the school deems these as truancies and she would have to do a day of Saturday school for every day she missed, that's 10 Saturdays with most of the kids there are there on disciplinary issues.

Actually the one that she was disappointed about not going on is the 5 dayer afterward. My sister (best friend) is going with me and she doesn't get to see her that often. Heck I only get to see her once a year. But DD is a special needs child (mild mentally challenged), so even though she will be 15 there is no way I would let her fly by herself or I would let her go.
Her big trip is coming though, when she graduates we are either going to do a cross country trip to and from WDW or we will be sailing on one of the new ships.

Sorry seems I'm a bit wordy tonight.:guilty:

Don't be sorry! We're all wordy here! That's the fun part!

My kids feel the same way about my sister (who happens to be coming on the cruise with us). She could be there and they would be happy to have me disappear! And there are so many good reasons for you to have your daughter stay home. It sounds like she will have a wonderful time with her Grandma, and she will do better going to her actual classes than sitting there in a detention situation. What great options for her big trip, too!

Won't that be fun!!! :goodvibes
And i hope you didn't think I was being *snarky*! I really wasn't!
Our kids LOVE when we do car trips!! In fact 16dd & 9ds were just telling their dad how much they want to do another car trip!

good evening everyone! time seems to be flying, and i seem to lose track of this thread. i feel like i haven't been on it in a while. i stop to say hi, and then i disappear. sorry about that! is there anything new going on here? looks like we have some new posters? hello to all who are new!
hope everyone is having a great weekend! we are having a very wet one...our street was just flooded out a few hours ago...it wasn't pretty! lots of branches down in town. and the storm is still going! hope it ends soon!

Evening all !

For anyone who's interested, England beat USA in the Rugby World Cup this afternoon 28-10.

Now, THERE'S a surprise! :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Stephen doesnt do 'smiles' for camera, ( well not often).

I had noticed that. Actually, it makes me kinda grin to see his photos & wonder how hard he had to work at not smiling :goodvibes

Since I am mostly new, here is a little bit about me:
Howdy - welcome to our merry band of pirates. If you don't know about it already, check out our Web Page. Tom32b can get you access to the members only stuff.

Wow - 5 kids! I can barely keep up with the one we have (currently age 4). Sounds like they all get along though, and that's got to help.

It is another great day so far for Buckeye fans.

I am almost starting to feel sorry for them.

okay.........................not really:goodvibes

Yes I do have 2 children DS 15 and DS6 ....DS 15 did not make this trip due to various reasons , some bad grades , attitude , the new school schedule , his band schedule .......But things have gotten a little better and he seems to be trying and really felt bad he didnt work harder to go after he realized we left without him ....But he says he will work harder to go on the Panama , but I think with his football schedule and band he may not make this one as well ....

pirate:
Ah, I see.
I'm a little worried that we're going to have major issues next year- same kind of deal (except not football- insert cheerleading in place of football, if she makes JV cheerleader next year- and ofcourse band) The reason that worries me is because duh... I hadn't thought about the fact that they don't start those things when school starts- like they do in middle school! They start them WEEKS before school starts... especially marching band. I'm not even sure if they'd allow her to be in marching band if she wasn't there for the weeks of practices beforehand! I'm a little concerned about it... but we really have no choice. She would only be 14 and obviously couldn't be left home alone for that extended period of time- and I have no one that would be able to watch her for that extended period of time- during the school year. She could easily stay a few weeks with my sister- but my sister has kids in school too and she lives in another town. There is no way she could shuttle my DD back and forth to school here in this town.. every day plus taking her kids to their schools in her town. Yanno?
I dunno. I'm trying to stay in denial for the moment I think. And wait a little later. You know- like SEE if she even makes cheerleader for next year before worrying about that. And closer to the end of the year- I'll talk to the band directors at HS and see what would happen if she missed those few weeks.
I can't imagine going without her though- even if we like had someone (which we don't) that she could stay with that would take her to/from practices in the summer and to/from school once it starts... for that long of a trip! A few days maybe (with her staying with someone) but longer than a couple of weeks? :(

I'm sorry I didn't realize your other son was older. I guess I was thinking you had 2 kids pretty close in age... no clue why I thought that. LOL

Bip I cut your post down a bit but I just wanted to respond that I hope Jeff gets the job & it works out financially for you! :wizard:

Glad the kids are doing well in school! I KWYM about staying on the same late schedule & "napping" while the kids are at school. Keeps me from doing much during the day too, but once they are home it's non-stop till their bedtime. So maybe we deserve that nap KWIM? ;)

Funny the same thing happened to us. We moved from a neighborhood of smaller houses to a neighborhood of slightly bigger homes. The neighbors that lived across the street from us in our old house, moved across the street from us here about a year after we moved. Funny huh? My DD was good friends with their DD, but they don't get along anymore. Oh well life happens!
Thanks to you- and everyone else that sent us well wishes about the job. Still haven't heard anything- the guy hiring isn't supposed to be back until next week though.
Yes, same here- nonstop once they are home until bedtime... run us ragged in the evenings!

About the neighbors- it is ironic isn't it! Honestly my dd had told me previously (in 6th grade) that this girl really didn't seem to want to talk to her/etc- not that they really had time to talk in school at that age.. (no recess/no lunch together) BUT they both seemed really excited about the prospect of being neighbors again.
Unfortunately I'm beginning to wonder if they are really moving in next door-or if it's only on "paper" so the kids can go to the schools she wants them to. Still not a stitch of anything moved over to this house, not here all week except last night and a couple nights ago they swam in the pool for awhile- then left apparently to go spend the night back in their old house. Maybe they are just taking their time to move-- who knows. But for now it's like they bought the hosue for the schools and the pool. LOL

Late night posting...for once, I don't have to get up early for an appointment or meeting tomorrow.

Tina...good luck in your meetings with the surgeons! I'm so sorry you have to go through all that. :flower3:

We've been getting as much done ahead of my surgery as possible....wheelchair, walker/scooter thing, groceries, paying bills in advance. I know it seems silly to go that far, but I just really want to have everything "done" so that I can take my pills and lay in bed and do nothing.
I'll just be glad when it's over with so that I can stop thinking of it as "the end of the world" as I know it.
Monday at noon....once they place the mask over my face, all will be right with the world. Until we schedule the other foot/leg, that is. :sad2:

Take care everyone.

Andy....super-great picture of Angelina. I bet it was nice to see her smile like that!!
I'm definitely going to be thinking about you on monday!!
You sound a lot like me. Whenever I have had surgeries planned- I'm all about getting EVERY.THING.POSSIBLE done beforehand. I don't know if your reasoning is the same as mine. Mine is 2 fold. 1) because I'm anal that way LOL and 2) because if I don't get that stuff done- it won't get done until I'm up and able to get it done... seeing as how I do everything but mowing around here.
I still remember when I had Rita- I had planned out 3 days worth of clothes for the other two kids- just because I may be there up to 3 days due to being forced into another c-section (due to polyhydramnios- long story there) BUT I also got my tubes tied- ended up with fever and neither of us were able to leave the hospital for a week, until I went 24hrs afebrile. Oh you don't even want to KNOW how my kids (Ruby/Robert) were dressed when DH came in the evenings-after work- to visit us... after the first 3 days. It was so embarrassing. I was like look- we aren't leaving this room until it's time for y'all to go and when you leave.. pretend you don't know me in the hallway. :rotfl: (j/k but it was pretty bad... )

Error Error Error....:lmao:

They dock at 5:15 am

So subtract 12 hours from your calculation ....

Plus, they do one less port (Cartagena)

We also get more time in each of the ports (except Cabo where WB is 1.5 hrs more and CC is same)
Thanks for clearing that up.
But has anyone figured out why they aren't goin to Cartegena but we are??

ahhhh I love seeing those groups of girls too :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

pirate:
Oh, you are so naughty! pirate:

My son lost a tooth once when he and I and his sister were visiting my parents in Nebraska. The Tooth Fairy wasn't quite prepared (she couldn't find Daddy's wallet in Nebraska...it was in AZ with him!) so my son obviously felt cheated.

After we got back home (in AZ) I overheard him telling his friend "Don't ever lose a tooth in Nebraska. The Tooth Fairy there is CHEAP!"

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

HILARIOUS!
I would die laughing... your son is a hoot!

Happy birthday to anyone I've missed. Sorry I'm having difficulties keeping up with the thread often enough to wish birthdays ON the birthdays and individually! :(

Also I wanted to ask .. could I get my freak flag again please? It was posted and no way I can find it again. But it was huge and it was said that it was a rough draft- so I thought I'd get it again smaller and with BIP on it somewhere. I have no freak flag- so how can I fly it? wahhh

Sorry to those I was in chat with - I fell asleep on the couch in the sun - ooops.

I had a migraine threatening most of the afternoon and it seems like the sleep at least got rid of it.

Maybe next week...

Thank you

Okay, I haven't been here in months! I was trying to do some Ketchup, of course, totally impossible, so I started clicking on random pages to see what everyone was up to. But here is the funny part, I clicked on a page where Crash was trying to get Andrew from UK to get some lottery tickets for him. Then, the very next page I clicked on (probably 10+ pages later), was a huge "CONGRATS ANDREW" with fireworks, then, just below that was a Congrats Andrew again. So for a short while, I thought you guys had won big in the UK lottery. It turns out that it was for Andrew's 11,000th post. Oops!

I just had to share that, as I know I would forget by the time I got slightly caught up.

Poohmom :hippie:

No lottery win, I am suing CASH for £4.5m! -Its my 11,000 posts.

Tom I have been having serious football practice and game withdraws. I didn't really think I would miss Adam participating this year. I spent the practices yacking and taking pictures of the boys. Whichever pics didn't make it ino Adam's or the coach's scrapbook, I gave away at our banquet. There were always at least 600 or so pics for the boys and their parents to take home. It is great that you are so active in all aspects of your dds. Some parents don;t have a clue what they are missing.:goodvibes

Paula - thanks for the encouragement - I'm sooo beat today from running up and down as referee with the girls - my spouse is just snickering over how "wounded" I'm actin'. and I am ... acting. < steady silent grinnin' >

Tom....so true! And by being involved, we are getting MORE than "our money's worth"!.....These memories are PRICELESS!

The opposing team noticed my spouse and I were doing double duty as coah and referee.... and they suggested our committment was .... unfair. We were doing a lot while someone was riding scott free. We should identify the family volunteering nothing asnd have thier dauighter removed as trhere were families waiting to get thier daughters in - and they would gladly referee if that meant their daughter could play. I don't have the heart to complain though... besides - it was good exercise for me and sort of fun... thatis between my huffing and puffing from near heat stroke today!
G'mornin' pirate:s

I'm still alive in case anyone missed me. I stayed away for a while trying to get the whole back-to-school-back-to-working-mom, thing going again.

Chapter 3 - VA/DC

[edited]

I had a blast last night. There is a roadskating group in DC that meets at the White House a few times a week for a group skate. I work about 3 blocks away, so I joined them last night. There were about 30 people & we did 10 miles. I was in total tourist mode. We passed the White House, Capital, Supreme Court, circled the Mall (lots of Smithsonian bldgs.), Washington, Lincoln, & Jefferson Memorials. It was pretty surreal to see all of that on skates in less than an hour and a half! Then beer & pizza in a pub that doesn't mind 30 people wearing in-line skates!

***
Chapter 3 - Pirate Re-Hitching & Cruise Stuff

I saw this mentioned again. I had the idea about a million pages back. I think it would be great fun to do before dinner on Pirate Night on Deck 7. It would require anyone who wants to participate to be ready for dinner early (remember Todd: rum and monkey paws do not mix). We could have pirate vows (ummm guidelines). "I promise to love you in rum, and when the rum is gone. Why is the rum always gone?" etc...

Anyway, if there is interest I'll volunteer to chair that task force. I think it would be fun & I hope I can find a few volunteers to write the vows (ummm guidelines) with me.

Also, has anyone else thought that we are going to need our own Navigator? Not having access to a copier onboard, I thing we might need something that covers the whole cruise. What Pirate activities are when, who volunteered to be in charge, where to meet, etc. I think I can put something like that together a week or so before the cruise & put a .pdf on the site for everyone to download and print before they leave. Just a thought - we have 11 months to decide.

For those of you who made it to the end of this post...I salute you!

Oh BOY ...

Pirate vow renewals off the deck 7 secret veranda.... please count us in! and on the inline skating in DC - what a fun Fun FUN diversion! Cheers to ya on getting hookup up with such a fun thing!

Oh yeah, and the Mouse and I are currently not on speaking terms:

Full text of Disney's statement:

We are committed to providing our guests with the highest level of sporting events possible. To that end, while the Walt Disney World Inline Marathon Weekend has been a fun and successful event in the past, we are now gearing up for a full slate of events that will not include the Walt Disney World Inline Marathon in 2008. Our goal and focus is always to provide fresher, newer endurance events that will create a great experience for our competitors and guests, and we feel strongly that our series of endurance events for 2008 will provide competitors and guests with the best possible experience and athletic challenge. We value the sport of inline skating and may explore adding an inline skating element to our endurance series in the future. Continue to check our website (www.disneysports.com) for information. For questions or concerns, you can email: wdw.sports.marathon.endurance@disneysports.com

I've only been looking forward to that for 4 years...

I'm so sorry to learn of this - however - does this mean there will be no event?

Morning :goodvibes

Got home late last night and I guess none was in chat?

[edited]. DGD has her first Soccer game today
.:thumbsup2

I tried last night,but I couldn't get into the Chat Room! :confused3

I made it into chat - and I think I managed maybe 6 or 7 entries then I slipped out the back door (after excusing myself properly) and as I recall there were about 12 souls in chat when I was there.

No, the NIKON D40....they had it on sale in the $550-$575 range.

I ran over to Target to look - and it was the Nikon. And the Target run was a good one - as best buy had my AAA niMhi batteries for $15 on a 4 pack... and I really only needed two batteries. I have a big charger at home. So I passed .... and to my pleasant surprise Target had a bundled pocket charger with 2 AAAs and 2 AAs for only $9.99.... plus an optional $5 rebate if I bought another 4 pack of NiMh batteries. So I bought a 4 pack for $9.99 + the charger bundle with the two AAA and AAs for $9.99. Adjusting for the $5 rebate makes it the same ost as Best Buy for 4 batteries alone. SO this was like having bought at Best Buy a 4 pack and gotten the 2 AAAs + 2 AAs + pocket charger FREE!

temptations.jpg

Online right now it's priced at $599.00 but it was less than that in the stores. I played with one for a while...and was sorely tempted. But am holding out for the D40x or maybe even the 80....

Ahhhhh... I looked back a few pages and see my mistake. YOUR camera is the Canon...and you were looking for the Canon.....I have that Nikon dream of mine stuck in my head.

A mistake, eh?
2002-12-03.gif

Alright, well, I did it. I skimmed a few months worth of posts.

What an adventure. I can't believe I have spent my little girl's entire naptime (going on 3 hours now) reading this thread. :surfweb: I was going to do some laundry :laundy:

So,here is my personal recap:

I have been a little surprised (the whole website issue was I guess...shocking!).

I have cried, several times in fact. I think it is really neat that people can share the ups and downs in their lives with this group. I truly wish the best for everyone that reads this and has had struggles of late. Reading through the kind words of support is a great testament to the people on this thread...the comfort, prayers and pixie dust are truly uplifting. Sorry to be so cheesy, but it is pretty neat to know that alot of wonderful people exist and will be on my TOAL! :goodvibes

I have laughed, oh my...some of you guys are so funny and a little naughty too! ;)

Now that the kids are back in school and don't keep me up so late, I hope to be able to stay in touch. I am so excited to be thinking of the trip again.

Poohmom :hippie:

poohpirategamesss.jpg

Hmmm.... wonderful, funny and naughty people.... sounds like a bunch of Pirates, Swabbies & Wenches if ya ask me! Arrrrgh!

Seriously - your kind remarks are sweet music to many gathered here, no doubt. It's nice to hear - trust me - and appreciated too. Now... Where do we send your paypal proceeds?

Since I am mostly new, here is a little bit about me:

My family is me, just turned 37. DH, 38. DS15, DD13, DS12, DD10, DD2.

We are a pretty close knit family and we are all having a blast with our late addition. Little Jessie (DD2)is a super happy friendly, funny girl and is completely spoiled by the big kids.

How crazy is that!

We are going to WDW for an extended weekend at the end of Sept. Only one of the kids know, it is for my daughter's 14th birthday and EPCOTs 25th birthday and to have our first visit 'HOME' as we just joined DVC this year. We are staying at Animal Kingdom Villas. I think I am going to tell the kids I am picking them up early from school for their flu shots and instead, take them to the airport. Is that evil???

Then we are taking my MIL and FIL to Mexico for my MIL's 60th birthday in November. That will be so relaxing compared to every other trip we have done lately.

Next, I just found out that my son's band will be participating in Disney Music Days in March 2008. So we of course will have to go down and watch him. How exciting for the band!!!!! (and a great excuse for us to go down again so soon!).

Then of course, it is the TOAL! I can't wait!

We have done 4 Disney Cruises before and even the teenagers are fine with leaving their friends for that long because they love the cruises that much!

Nice to re meet y'all!

Poohmom...

.... welcome to the community. I know I'm not the first to welcome you - an' I'm unlikely to be the last too... but just the same - a hearty and warm welcome to ya! And may I say how IMPRESSED I am - five kids plus parents in a 2500 mile 55 hour drive!??? WOW! What an adventure!!! I'll bet it was a great family renewing experience! I wonder how challenging it must be at times juggling so much with the 5kids and everything else!

Hey Poohmom,
I'm a little new here too. I lurk more than I post, most of that is due to having a cruise in Oct. so I am planning for that right now. I did Magic Music Days at Disneyland in 1988! I had a blast. It was so cool seeing what the backstage looked like, then marching down main street was well the start of my Disney obsession. I hope you son has a blast.

A little about me:
Only my Dh and I will be cruising this time around. It will be our 20th anniversary, and our second time on the Magic. We are looking forward to doing the adult activities on board. We have 2 children, DS is 18 and DD is 14. Looking forward to meeting everyone. As soon as our October cruise is over I will be posting and hopefully getting to know everyone better.
Becky

Becky,

Welcome back! And may I offer a remark.... "YOU'RE SOoo LUCKY!".... having a Disney cruise coming up in October! What a blast! And - in advance - congratulations on your 20th anniversery! I'm coming up to my 24th anniversery of our 1st date - but only the 13th (or 14th) wedding anniversery. So my spouse and I have a ways to go before we;'ll be celebrating our real 20th.

That sounds like so much fun! Of course, I would probably not make it to the pub, as I would need an emergency dental appointment after falling on my face and knocking all of my front teeth out....but nevertheless....that sounds like a lot of fun!

Actually, over beer and pizza, I discovered that the 2 guys I was sitting close to were an ER doc and a Secret Service agent. :cool2: So I felt safe on many levels.

It is another great day so far for Buckeye fans.

You know, I don't have any sort of affinity to Michigan or OSU, but this is sort of fun to watch. David slaying Goliath and whatnot.

M that must of been a killer skating up Capitol Hill! I go slow when I walk it. Glad to hear things are getting back to normal for you. I don't know about N. VA it is very congested. It takes forever to get thru a traffic light!

Oy, let's not even talk about traffic! Luckily, Capitol Hill was early in the skate.

Hey Poohmom,
I'm a little new here too.
Since I am mostly new, here is a little bit about me:

My family is me, just turned 37. DH, 38. DS15, DD13, DS12, DD10, DD2.

Gee, 5 kids...so what do you do in your free time???

:welcome: :welcome: to both of you!
