You do mean the Canon 40D ... right? I was not aware of Target carrying this? I just might go check it out tonite.

And look... only 345 more postings til the next Pirate Sprint. Hmmm.... I guess we'll be seein' that mad dash this weekend (most likely).

No, the NIKON D40....they had it on sale in the $550-$575 range.

Ahhhhh... I looked back a few pages and see my mistake. YOUR camera is the Canon...and you were looking for the Canon.....I have that Nikon dream of mine stuck in my head.

Hi everyone, I am playing catch-up from about a week.

I have a game for those of you who are so inclined.
Homework assignment that I thought would be fun to see what you all come up with.
It is called Phun Metric Conversions
Figure out what each of these measures would be equivalent to. Using a basic list of metric prefixes.
such as yocto- , zepto, atto, femto, pico, nano, micro, milli, centi, deci, base, deca, hecto, kilo, mega, giga, tera, peta, exa, zetta, yotta,

Example: 10 rations = decorations
2000 mockingbird = to kill a mockingbird

Problems: 1 trillion pins
100 rations
3 and 1/3 trident
200 withitz
2 monograms
10 monologs
4 nickels
2 wharves
6 curses
10 to the 100th eyes
2000 lbs of chinese soup
453.6 graham crackers
8 catfish
a million pains
2 snake eyes
1/2 large intestine
500 millinaries
1 kg of falling figs
1 kilo -ships
1000 cc of wet socks
16.5 ft in the Twilight Zone

BTW, these are the ones I don't have answers too so I can't tell you if you are right or not. But might be fun for you math types to figure out.

Have fun.

Oops did it again. I always forget to change back to my old self after chat. :rotfl2:

So, you have a team of only 7 girls? Is this like a "tots" league? How many do you play on the field, and do you play a goalie yet?

DD7 plays up (U9) and they play 6v6, but they have a total of 12 girls on the team. That seams to be a good number as you inevitably have 1 or 2 missing from a game, and still allows for plenty of subs....we are playing on a bigger field this year, so they are getting tired out faster. Next year, U10 plays 8v8.

My DH coaches along with 2 other dads. He really enjoys it.....parents that don't get involved just don't know what they are missing!

My son plays U9 as well. we play 7 plus goalie. DH also coaches and had a really hard time today at the game. We have a few boys that just have no discipline at home and it shows on the field. They argue constantly with the ref. DH laid into them today after the game. If my son acted this way his butt would be yanked from the game and placed in the car. He would then have to go to the ref after the game and apologize. DH needs another assistant at this point. I just cant believe there are some parents who just drop the kid off and then come back at the end or even worse sit there while thier child misbehaves and do nothing. Sorry for the rant...

OH I have been moved to CAPTAINS DINING!!!!pirate:

1st Disney cruise...... Done!
Had a great time. More later about it.

Question- In the galley tour they mentioned they cannot bring food on in any port. If this is right, does that mean we will only have that great fresh fruit the 1st week only?

Random postings:
I also have a 7 YO DD (will be 8 on Mon)
We have Captains Dining.
Decided if worse comes to worse and we have to stay in Cat 10 - we will be just fine.

Maybe thats the 7 day cruises, on the Panama last time food came on at Acapulco and Curacao, I did the galley tour then and they said it was a challenge with salads and fruits until those.

Evening all !

For anyone who's interested, England beat USA in the Rugby World Cup this afternoon 28-10.

The USA were NEVER going to win but nevertheless played very well and scored an excellent try.

Wales play their opening game tomorrow against Canada.

I had a blast last night. There is a roadskating group in DC that meets at the White House a few times a week for a group skate. I work about 3 blocks away, so I joined them last night. There were about 30 people & we did 10 miles. I was in total tourist mode. We passed the White House, Capital, Supreme Court, circled the Mall (lots of Smithsonian bldgs.), Washington, Lincoln, & Jefferson Memorials. It was pretty surreal to see all of that on skates in less than an hour and a half! Then beer & pizza in a pub that doesn't mind 30 people wearing in-line skates!

That sounds like so much fun! Of course, I would probably not make it to the pub, as I would need an emergency dental appointment after falling on my face and knocking all of my front teeth out....but nevertheless....that sounds like a lot of fun!

You know most people here are from the USA and you have to wind them up that England beat them, (also in the footie beat Israel.

Hope you had a great holiday in WDW.

I think it's 6 on 6 from a team of 7 girls for us = but my spouse thinks its' supposed to be 5 v 5 with 2 left out as reserves. Well... I will be finding out soon enough tomorrow. We do have a goalie.

And I must agree - parents who don't come to any practices or games - well - they have no idea what they're missing out on - or what they are telling their daughter by never once showing for a practice or game. I've just learned the girl who has not had a parent come to a practice is not going to have either parent at tomorrows 1st game.

Tom I have been having serious football practice and game withdraws. I didn't really think I would miss Adam participating this year. I spent the practices yacking and taking pictures of the boys. Whichever pics didn't make it ino Adam's or the coach's scrapbook, I gave away at our banquet. There were always at least 600 or so pics for the boys and their parents to take home. It is great that you are so active in all aspects of your dds. Some parents don;t have a clue what they are missing.:goodvibes

Erin.....I understand the rant. Some kids have no guidance. DD had a boy in her class last year that was a constant disruption. He had to meet with the principal on a regular basis....and this was in first grade! After meeting his mom on a field trip to the zoo, I could completely understand why he behaved the way he did. She let him get away with everything. I'm not sure if it was passivity or laziness on her part....but it was not helping her son. He did not return this year. I know it's terrible to feel this way, but I was so relieved.

Do you think Adam is missing it at all?

I really enjoy my kids activities, and an added bonus has been the great friends we have made through their participation. If/when they quit......I'll really miss it, too.
