I'm definitely going to be thinking about you on monday!!
You sound a lot like me. Whenever I have had surgeries planned- I'm all about getting EVERY.THING.POSSIBLE done beforehand. I don't know if your reasoning is the same as mine. Mine is 2 fold. 1) because I'm anal that way LOL and 2) because if I don't get that stuff done- it won't get done until I'm up and able to get it done...

EXACTLY....both #1 and #2. Everytime I've had surgery, I've always been up and doing things before the docs have said I should because I just can't stand it any longer. But this time, since the kids aren't little any more, I refuse to do that. I'm sorry...but for once, it's going to be all about ME.

And thanks for thinking of me  ...I appreciate it. I'm more calm so far today than I thought I'd be.

That first quote is so funny. I remember seeing some of your posts during my marathon page skipping event and thinking that your kids were quite far apart and I did indeed wonder if it was a blended family.

It never dawned on me people thought that until oldest dd told me that people always ask her if her little sister is her mom's or her dad's. :rotfl2:

OMG, you homeschool? I love having my kids around and I have often wondered about doing that, but they are all doing quite well and seem to enjoy school so very much, that I don't think it would work for our situation.

What made you decide to do it? Also, now that the older kids are grown and out in the real world, have they had any problems adjusting to it?:

Our older children were doing great in their private school when we decided to homeschool. At the time dh travelled alot for work and when he was in town it seemed he only got to see them for about 2 hrs a day. :sad2: Since we wanted to spend more time as a family we started homeschooling.

There hasn't been anything to *adjust to* our kids have always been very active in life and outside activities. :)
Our oldest went to Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) for 3 yrs. And then a few years later he decided to work in IT so, he took a bunch of the certification classes. LOL! I could have saved a bunch of money! LOL!
Oldest dd is a manager at an Ann Taylor store.

I can't help but include a couple of photos! LOL! These were taken a year ago this week (on the DCL 10 nt Southern)

The 4 oldest ---

Morning folks!

Dumb question... how long does it take for a postcard mailed from CC take to get to the US?

Its been nearly two weeks and no postcard...

I almost commented on that on your original post. Both times I sent them it took at least 4 weeks, seems like one way 5 or 6. Time is slllllooooooooooooowwwwwww in the Bahamas.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

My answers below (hidden in case others want to figure them out). I'd seen most of these before -- a few took some thinking.

Perfectly fine to be all about you. You deserve it.

howdy do ! to the new kids on the block.....so how does it feel to be

the new kids in town? soaring like the eagles, will you be
staying @ the hotel california?

..i think someone asked how did a buckeye get a family connection
to gator land?....military duty. coming from a family of about one
hundred kids...[ us kids always wonder if our parents had any
fun hobbies? :rolleyes1 ].....it was pretty obvious, college was going
to be "up" to our desires...let's see...4 went to ohio university, one
with her masters there, and one dayton, one wright state, rio grande,
& one sister out to kansas...oh, arizona...& still living outside tucson?

..i'm not sure...of everyone, as we all separated after our parents died
in the late 80's. :sad1: . we were raised in "groups" ..cover nearly 30 years,
so....a few nieces & nephews..are older than their uncles/aunts. again,
we always wonder...why our parents didn't do vacations-:rolleyes1

amost forgot..one graduated from shawnee state...which is very interesting,
as....our father did the concrete work...on the orginal building..intersting,
...sk8?...it does not match any of the other buildings....cos it started out
as branch ..for ou. * my lil'cutie pie..received her associate degree before
going onto osu...

soooooo , by fate..my first duty was in fla., and where i started was
gainsville. now the miltary take so many active duty to the service
academy....& that how i ended up @ the air force academy...prep school,
..i think i still i have my jersey...somewhere...falcons! :yay: but the
prep school was called by a differnt name..huskies....i just  the
academy! & i still following them..however, i am mostly a "fan" of football
...for the bands, school traditions, and all the schools...* i hope that big
$, don't destroy what the orginal goals were for...

i remember where i was when the marshall plane crashed...& the silver
bridge. alot of my friends helped rebuild the team...so much, our whole
high school team was there, their first game..and it was a former "west
sider"...who scored the winning td with a few seconds left...:cheer2:
[yes..we were inside the locker room after the game!] so the thunderin'
herd..is very special memory... on a sad note, the 2 players that scored
the winning td...did not live to see the moive last year.

other than my wife & 2 nieces graduating from ..osu, woody hayes hosted
a special day for our school. :thumbsup2 , one of our immature player
[fresh~man}..smarted off...mr. hayes..gave him a "history lesson"!...i
guess, what i remember most..was this "wax" machine they had..& walking
on the field....our dad used to listened to the osu games on the radio.

this game with dublin...had some of my best memories..first , someone came
onto our bus..stole some of the coaches' jackets..and my! . however,
all the guys on our team...brought me a new one! [think about that--high
school players]....the week before, i had my best game against ports. notre
dame..all the players chose me as their "team captain". you know?...even
today..i would be consider very small for any football...however,i sorta have
this one..lil'talent..of catching the ball..anywhere near me...dublin, is where
i made a "catch"....& the whole stadium clapped. in fact, my first td was
actually a pass to the receiver behind me....except...i didn't realized it,
until the quarterback..told me.

that's kind show my interests in football...por, michagan, we'll see the true
fans..as they work things up....:sad2: , and the bowl situation is even
worst...goodness me, i hope they don't destroyed the rivaries games &
the traditions...

why gators? well, i liked their colors..and i had 2 friends...one was @
maimi..and one at fla. state...so that only left the gators....& i think
gators..are cool!....try to think back..all 3 didn't win 5 games between
them...buttie..talk about partying /having fun....:yay: ..and i
always enjoyed steve s./. he is prefect for the college game..cos he
rooting right along.....esp. when something dosn't goes his way. now
he's at s. carolina...a team that beat osu x2...and their ohio running
back..who did the most damge..in many ways..makes the 2 games
special...in my eyes.

as for true..fans..participating ..and rooting ?..i 'm happy when our team
wins..if by the rules..[i heard alot of people thought miami got robbed by
osu?...reallly?..go back when the osu reciever- not only caught the first
down pass...but was being held...but yes, the end zone play, it wasn't
pass interference..] however, if fans from their team were hurt..and
needed assistance... i could care less..they were from another
team....* i would do my best to help them. and i think "real fans" are
there for the team & players,no matter the score or record...*shocking..
i miss bo s.,

he made it easy to root against m., but it also increase both teams'
merits. what i remember most, was after woody was fired, & the m.'s
sports writers..were dogging him...he informed them that woody could
come and sit on the m. 's bench anytime..in their place!..think about that.
oh, i believe...m. won't be down...for long, that is a very talented team.

....so crash? ...i read your sporting events....have you ever heard of the
national youth sports safety foundation? ..w.nyssf.org? "they were aware of
the harmful effects of emotional abuse on children in sports and has come
up with a code of conduct." :thumbsup2 ...i was so impressed, that i used
those rules when setting up our lcoal soap box derby....however, * these
rules of conduct...just shouldn't be for children....how much better for
all..if our adult sports would...adopt? hmmmm , i think they got something
there? :teacher: i also printed for all families..."when things don't go your
way", by dr. joyce b., its excellent too...so to answer your ?..the all~
american soap box derby is our family sports....& i think since life is a
competetion ..the ways people play their games..will add or take away
their values system....

:flower3: ..thanks, all shookup, ...fyi, yes..i understood your
first response to be a 2-parter..and i guess, from others,
i feel on the fringe....but again, i am stil trying to figure this
stuff out.....:thumbsup2

oh, i will tell the story..when i get time..work has been tying
me up lately...

dear cpt. crash...ping pong ..that's a real man sport! :thumbsup2

Stace I sure hope you are starting all that getting taken care of today, you know you may need a day to get used to it so it is not such a shock to the system:rolleyes1 .  I will be thinking about you tomorrow.
(Please let Jay, Jordan, Megan, and Jared that us peeps are counting on them!!)

LG, Adam's football coach for the last 2 years was a freshman on the Marshall team that year. He shared many stories with the boys about that. I really think it touched the boys. He was in the movie and took the boys to see it. Alas, he is not the coach any longer but Adam does have him for a class this year. I know that tragedy has helped define who he is today. He is a special man:)

Andy...how's Angelina??

Thanks for asking. Angelina is doing good Stace, in fact she is getting ready to attend an ice cream outing with her fellow employees from B-a-B.

We've had a few good talks the past few days about Ryan and the tragic event.

A friend of Ryan's family is having a fundraiser for Ryan's parents, he designed a window decal and I bought one this morning and put it on our car window a short while ago.

Can I send my posse after them if they don't take care of me??

Andy, I'm happy for Angelina and relieved that she's doing so well. It's such a hard thing to go through.

I love those memorial stickers for cars. What an awesome way to honor someone.

Va/DC kinda grows on you after a while:goodvibes

We're originally from NY and moved to Northern Va back in 1994.

I know M already asked but i'll ask too.... Where are you hiding in NoVa?

Sounds like a mini-meet is in order. I could make it down to Dulles area.

OH I have been moved to CAPTAINS DINING!!!!pirate:

Erin, Do you want to be a part of the linked Capt's Dining list?

Evening all !

For anyone who's interested, England beat USA in the Rugby World Cup this afternoon 28-10.

The USA were NEVER going to win but nevertheless played very well and scored an excellent try.

Wales play their opening game tomorrow against Canada.

David

Pete is doing cart wheels. THe USA actually scored.:rotfl2:
