Hey M and any Virginia Tech fans....The OU Marching 110 will be attending the Ohio vs. Virginia Tech game next weekend (Sept 15th) in Blacksburg. Worth the trip...they just received a nice nod as the Best College Marching Band in the country.

http://www.collegesports-fans.com/articles/marching-bands-2007.html

BTW....Did you catch their special appearance on "Deal or No Deal"?

That's cool, Joel! And look who is number 2!

Hey Deanna! Yep...we're always envious of TBDBITL because their football team seems to grab more attention for the band than ours does. They put on a great show.

You didn't just say, "Right Here, Guys?" <hot chicks>

So, you have a team of only 7 girls? Is this like a "tots" league? How many do you play on the field, and do you play a goalie yet?

DD7 plays up (U9) and they play 6v6, but they have a total of 12 girls on the team. That seams to be a good number as you inevitably have 1 or 2 missing from a game, and still allows for plenty of subs....we are playing on a bigger field this year, so they are getting tired out faster. Next year, U10 plays 8v8.

My DH coaches along with 2 other dads. He really enjoys it.....parents that don't get involved just don't know what they are missing!

I think it's 6 on 6 from a team of 7 girls for us = but my spouse thinks its' supposed to be 5 v 5 with 2 left out as reserves. Well... I will be finding out soon enough tomorrow. We do have a goalie.

And I must agree - parents who don't come to any practices or games - well - they have no idea what they're missing out on - or what they are telling their daughter by never once showing for a practice or game. I've just learned the girl who has not had a parent come to a practice is not going to have either parent at tomorrows 1st game.

I would not miss watching a game for our kids = for anything. Of course - every family has to do what they must to get by or maintain career. The family who has not attended any practices yet - I think someone mentioned the Dad is a radio personality and works weekends and most days/evenings. I don't communteor listen to much radio - so I would not know him unless he were someone like Howard Stern... which he is not. And even Howard Stern I would expect to attend his own childs' sporting event.

At any rate - I do get such a blast out of putting this on for the kids. I have ALWAYS loved kids... and now that I have my own - I love 'em to an indescribable degree. Even when I am exhausted in odd ways - I think andreflect that I would never have traded the experience for anything. besides - it's too late to reverse the day or get any sort of "refund". :lmao:

I remember my cousin found one of her Beagles teeth on the floor and decided to put it under the pillow. Well let me tell you that little fairy had one wicked sense of humor. When Linda woke up and checked under her pillow the next morning, the Tooth Fairy had left her a Bone!!:lmao:

Ha-ha-ha-hardly......I'm probably older than most of their moms. But I'm a LOT cooler!! ;)

The "cool Mom" at our home gave me the squinty eye look today as I was going to the soda fountain - I got a refil with water as a result.

Morning all-Good weekend.

Hey! Good Mornin' to ya Andrew!

Some time soon the DIS might shut down for maintenance - and I'll be off to turn in - as I am referee for my daughters AYSO soccer game tomorrow so I'll need a decent nites' rest! Plus they both have their 1st sessions of CHinese school... followed in the afternoon by a ballet class for the big girl. SO it's a verybusy day - where we might not make it to ballet class. I'm hoping to get her into a ballet class on another day.

Good nite Andrew

Tom....so true! And by being involved, we are getting MORE than "our money's worth"!.....These memories are PRICELESS!

G'mornin' pirate:s

I'm still alive in case anyone missed me. I stayed away for a while trying to get the whole back-to-school-back-to-working-mom, thing going again.

I can't say I'm ketched up, but I did skim back a bit.

Tina, Jack's DD & Stace - wishing you all a speedy recovery!

Kristina - thanks for volunteering to manage the linked dining! That's a big job. We are Captain's Dining and would love to be linked (me, dh, ds7, ds9)

Andy - my heart just aches for Angelina, you, Hazel, and Ryan's family.

Bip - best of luck with DH job situation.

Todd, Laura, Monica, Chris & everyone else from the Med - awesome photos, I really enjoyed them. I'm glad you all had a great time!

So I know I've missed some other big things, sorry I have't commented, I just skimmed.

Chapter 2 - My New Job

2 weeks and so far so good. I have a real office with a window and everything - overlooking the scenic building across L St. from me, but it's daylight. The people seem great. I love working someplace where people laugh on a regular basis. I get to hire my own assitant, which is a big bonus. Hey Joel & Grumpy - my organization only has 25 people in the national office (40 total) and I'm not the only Bobcat! I thought that was pretty cool.

Chapter 3 - VA/DC

Still not our cup of tea, but we are tying to make the best of it. The boys were excited to go back to school. They met some kids at the bus stop & have plans to get together with one of them this weekend. We haven't found Cub Scouts yet, but hockey starts next week for the boys. DH & I haven't found teams yet, but I have a few leads.

I had a blast last night. There is a roadskating group in DC that meets at the White House a few times a week for a group skate. I work about 3 blocks away, so I joined them last night. There were about 30 people & we did 10 miles. I was in total tourist mode. We passed the White House, Capital, Supreme Court, circled the Mall (lots of Smithsonian bldgs.), Washington, Lincoln, & Jefferson Memorials. It was pretty surreal to see all of that on skates in less than an hour and a half! Then beer & pizza in a pub that doesn't mind 30 people wearing in-line skates!

Chapter 3 - Pirate Re-Hitching & Cruise Stuff

I saw this mentioned again. I had the idea about a million pages back. I think it would be great fun to do before dinner on Pirate Night on Deck 7. It would require anyone who wants to participate to be ready for dinner early (remember Todd: rum and monkey paws do not mix). We could have pirate vows (ummm guidelines). "I promise to love you in rum, and when the rum is gone. Why is the rum always gone?" etc...

Anyway, if there is interest I'll volunteer to chair that task force. I think it would be fun & I hope I can find a few volunteers to write the vows (ummm guidelines) with me.

Also, has anyone else thought that we are going to need our own Navigator? Not having access to a copier onboard, I thing we might need something that covers the whole cruise. What Pirate activities are when, who volunteered to be in charge, where to meet, etc. I think I can put something like that together a week or so before the cruise & put a .pdf on the site for everyone to download and print before they leave. Just a thought - we have 11 months to decide.

For those of you who made it to the end of this post...I salute you!

Oh yeah, and the Mouse and I are currently not on speaking terms:

Full text of Disney's statement:

We are committed to providing our guests with the highest level of sporting events possible. To that end, while the Walt Disney World Inline Marathon Weekend has been a fun and successful event in the past, we are now gearing up for a full slate of events that will not include the Walt Disney World Inline Marathon in 2008. Our goal and focus is always to provide fresher, newer endurance events that will create a great experience for our competitors and guests, and we feel strongly that our series of endurance events for 2008 will provide competitors and guests with the best possible experience and athletic challenge. We value the sport of inline skating and may explore adding an inline skating element to our endurance series in the future. Continue to check our website (www.disneysports.com) for information. I've only been looking forward to that for 4 years...

Jack, hoping for the best for your DD.

M, the westbound from Barcelona I believe had their own navigator as well. It sounds like a good plan to keep everyone organized. The skating tour sounded like fun. My DD would've loved that.

I'm sorry Cheryl and John are leaving soon. The weather has been great. Nice breeze last night. DGD has her first Soccer game today.:thumbsup2

Va/DC kinda grows on you after a while:goodvibes

We're originally from NY and moved to Northern Va back in 1994. There are things I miss from NY (family, friends, pizza, good chinese food, etc.), but for the most part we've gotten used to it here.

What kind of hockey, ice or field ? My DH knows someone that plays ice hockey and I know there is a rink and a league off rte 28 near Dulles airport.
When you have "Back to School Night" (next 2 weeks or so) they should have a cub scout rep at the school somewhere with info for sign up.

You must have gotten home really late. I left around 9pm my time, so midnight for you. There were a few left after me.

Yes, we did have a navigator for the cruise. Had a couple actually since another group put one together too. It was nice to have although I must confess that I forgot to check it on a daily basis and subsequently missed out on a few things.
