Ginger ale and ginger snaps....nope..right back up. My ex son in law is a Sr Pharmacy Tech....going to school to be one of the "big guys"....anyway, he brought me some anti-nausea meds...that came right back up. I think it must have been the anesthesia and it just really needed to get out of my system. I managed a couple of soda crackers yesterday and a couple of ginger snaps....and then finally some dry toast and a scrambled egg last night.
Need to get my strength back in order to drag myself around one one leg. Now if I only had a peg, a patch and a parrot!!pirate:

Stacey they do make an anti-nausea tablet that goes under your tongue so there is no "coming up". Remember this for your next surgery.

You need to make sure there are no beavers around with that peg leg.

I think I'm finally back among the living. The surgery went well, so I'm told....all wrapped in big huge bandages for now. Will get a cast put on on Monday...still non weight-bearing...and then 2-3 weeks after that, I'll get a walking cast/boot.
The pain isn't too bad, more uncomfortable than anything. The worst thing is that I've been terribly nauseus. Not the best way to lose weight.

Good to see you posting. We've been sending well wishes to you.

Ok, not sure if this is posted else where, but, is there a waitlist or a thread for cancellations of this cruise?

Ok, not sure if this is posted else where, but, is there a waitlist or a thread for cancellations of this cruise?

DCL has admitted that they overbooked this cruise (~30%?) so they are waiting for cancellations. Last I heard they are not excepting wait-list but we have 11 months to go and there will probably be openings when May rolls around and final payment is due.

Unless you're a really messy eater, you may not need to clean your dress anyway. I'm planning on changing after dinner to try & preserve clean clothes & keep warm (if the a/c is a bit harsh). I'm in a similar predicament as travelling from the UK, packing is a challenge & I have 2 dresses (both unworn) & I can't decide if I should take both - only 11 more months to mull it over!!!

mban891l.jpg

My spouse travels so heavily - it would not surprise me if she wanted to bring a new outfit to change into every hour of our cruise. Of course, I only get one outfit to change into every day. Plus, I' be expected to recycle my socks everyday!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Laughter helps....thanks!

Someone told me about a pain "patch" too....seeing as how none of my meds were staying down.
I'm learning alot...and taking notes, since I have to still do the other foot. They think that will probably be in February....but I may wait until after the March Disneyland Birthday trip.

Jay said he knew I must be feeling better when I complained that they hadn't cleaned the stove after making dinner last night. Yep....the old "me" is almost back. :rotfl2:

I have to say, they do some pretty awesome stuff these days. Underneath all my bandages is a cooling system. I'm attached by hoses to a small cooler that we keep filled with ice, and every so many minutes, the contraption pumps cold water under my bandages to help keep the swelling down. I'd like to thank the person who invented this amazing thing!! It really feels good when the cool air is on it. Way better than trying to pile enough ice bags to get all the way through the bandages.

This is the device if you're curious:

Stace, I used that machine after my last knee surgery, what a great help that was. There was also one where I went for PT, so at the end of each of my sessions my PT therapist would hook me up to the machine for 15 minutes, I loved it!!!

Take Care!!! ;)

I don't know how much pain meds you are taking but this "Duragesic" is usually reserved for someone requiring around the clock strong pain meds. There are many cases of people overdosing on the patch, so we are careful who we give them to. It still will have the same effect on your stomach. ALL pain meds "Opium derivatives" will cause nausea. If you are sensitive to them there are meds "Zofran" for one that should be prescribed along with your pain meds. Over time you will develop tolerance to the nausea but hopefully you will not be on them that long.

Hey everyone...

Need good thoughts and prayers....

I got a call from my mom today that my uncle/godfather has died.....

I'm so sorry for your loss.

WE'RE GOING TO WDW!!!

OK, I hate you. I know, I know, I shouldn't complain (we're going to Kauai in October), but things are pretty tense around here while I'm looking for work & an escape would be nice.

I'm wondering ... are there any other grown-up princesses out there who would love to play dress up. I'm thinking of being a "princess" one of the formal nights and wearing a tiara and maybe even gloves (like Cinderella!) with my formal dress. How crazy am I? Can a 42 (by then 43) year old be a princess or will everyone be snickering behind my back? Anyone else have a secret wish they could dress up like the little girls do?

If you are too, i will gladly wear my tiara to dinner! We can have our pics taken with the princesses!! princess:

Let's DO IT! I'm sure I have gloves, and maybe a tiara.

Stace, glad to hear you're doing better. For nausea, try listening to your body. My first trimester with Lexi, I was constantly nauseous and ginger didn't do anything to help (neither did soda crackers, or peppermint). I finally found out that vanilla ice cream worked for me - and I HATE vanilla most of the time. If there's something that sounds good to your body, try it.

And get better soon. Like the Captain says, you need to be in DL in March.

My spouse used to work with a company that manufactured those muscle exercising machines, among other things a long, long time ago... in a place far, far away

WE'RE GOING TO WDW!!!

11/2-11/6. Short trip. Not really finalized - waiting for DH's leave to be approved.

Anyway, the kids randomly have Nov 5 & 6 off :confused3 I had two pick-your-own-holidays and two personal days that I have to use or lose before the end of the year, AND WDW is offering 40% off rack rate for active duty military...kismet, I tell you!

Since it is such a short trip we are going to try a value resort for the first time, we have ressies at POP.

I LOVE the Food and Wine Festival. And we'll still keep the streak alive of my kids going at least once a year for life.

I'm so sorry for your loss. :grouphug:
I'm hoping to get there for hopefully the Four Tops on the 25th as it is a Thurs and I don't work.

You're gonna cut off my WHAT next Friday?!

Oh I remember poor Rocky when we neutered him .Of course they say no jumping etc. He somehow got upstairs and jumped on the bed. You could see in midflight he realized the pain. He stayed low for the next couple of days.

Glad to see you're back and everything went well. Take care of yourself and get lots of rest.

I was hoping someone would get the joke. It is a bit obscure and my humor is usually more mallet-to-the-head-kind.

(Or is that what people want to do to me when they read my humor? I get the two confused).

Yes joke understood.

OK Im green with envy!!!!!!
Thats usually the time we head down to the world or on the Magic.

I had originally banned a big vacay this year do to the TOAL. But than my cousins planned a family one and DH couldnt say no. (notice I said DH !!! and their MY cousins ;) ) Except it is a non-disney vacation :sad1:
And I know we wont be able to squeeze anything in before the TOAL. I running on vacation day fumes at this point.

I keep saying we're not doing anything else till the TOAL, but then we bought annual passes in August so how can you NOT use them right? Aaaaand to top that off, NCL is launching their brand new ship the GEM for the first US trip out of Boston on Dec. 15th. It's only a 2 nt cruise to nowhere but also only $786 for a family of 4 for 3 days of all you can eat, drink & be merry fun! This new ship has a bowling alley, 11 bars, 12 restaurants (you get to choose when & where you'd like to eat) and includes an all night cafe.

Mini meet anyone??? :goodvibes

Hmm, I can't remember the last time I posted on this thread....somewhere back in February, I think. LOL. Back then, it was moving waaaaay to fast for me to keep up. I took a break from the Dis to work on my life (job hunting, mainly!), and now I'm back. And I have great news...I'm interviewing on Monday :woohoo: for a position in Melbourne, Florida, which is about an hour from Disney. If I get the job (and I really, really, REALLY want this job, because it's perfect for me!), I'll finally be able to justify getting an annual pass, and the odds go up considerably that we'll be able to go on the TOAL cruise (in my current position, we'd have to cancel because of the college schedule next August would keep me from going). Plus, I'll get an unexpected dose of Disney this weekend, since we're flying into Orlando and going to hit DTD for lunch on Saturday night before heading to Melbourne for apartment shopping and familiarizing ourselves with the area. Cheers, everyone! I'm off to catch up on the last few pages of the thread, and jump right into the conversation! :goodvibes

Congrats on your job prospect! I'm so jealous! Moving to Florida is my some day far in the distance dream. :cloud9:

YAY!
If you want to find me, I'll be circling the World Showcase eating and drinking.

Ditto! :thumbsup2

You're gonna cut off my WHAT next Friday?!

Perfect expression for that caption! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Have fun! Adam's out the 6th. It is election day.:)

That's right....it's election day NOT a staff development day! Duh! I am so dumb sometimes! :headache:

Glad it's all over & now you can rest & recover! Sorry you're a bit nauseus...hope it passes soon!

Thanks for the welcome and the mini meet info. I will come if I can, sounds fun. We were at DL last night, and the park was dead! Yay!

Let me add my welcome back too. I remember seeing you posting before.

I see you are in So Cal. Just so you know, some of us are planning a mini-meet at Disneyland next March. It will be a great little gathering so please join us if you can. Todd (DisneyVegas1) has the dates.

However, I <snif> can't confirm we're in or not with the folks in the Captains' dining rotation. And - I might add that my request to my TA places the highest priority upon having my party seated together on large dining tables - preferably 2 large tables for us if possible.

Crash, not sure they can do that.... They can get most of you at one server station but i believe from how we divied up peeps on the Dec trip, the max per wait station was 18 or 20. So your would be between a couple servers.

I have to say, they do some pretty awesome stuff these days. Underneath all my bandages is a cooling system. I'm attached by hoses to a small cooler that we keep filled with ice, and every so many minutes, the contraption pumps cold water under my bandages to help keep the swelling down.

Hey my co-worker had one of those....

Plus, I' be expected to recycle my socks everyday!

Uh ...don't tell my DH... i told him no room for socks....

Oh I remember poor Rocky when we neutered him .Of course they say no jumping etc.

Abby was a whoot too. They said keep her quiet and no stairs...HAHA:lmao:

She kept heading for the stairs and running up and down them. We finally had to put up a gate. Bernese are anything but quiet and still when they're younger.

Dear John surprised me and took me into the jewelry store on Main Street. :cloud9: He bought me a beautiful 14 kt gold mickey ring to add to my collection. :dance3: This makes number 4 now!!!:cheer2:

TOO COOL!!!!!!!

I've been really surprised that I was sick to my stomach at all. I NEVER get sick...ever. No seasickness, nothing. So this has been quite unusual for me.
I don't think I'm on anything all that strong. I've got Percoset 750, and Valium (which he said was to keep my foot from having spasms...they did something with the nerves in there) and Keflex (antibiotic). I haven't even tried to take the Valium since the first day. I can feel some spasms every now and then, but it doesn't hurt me. The only thing I worry about is that maybe I'm supposed to not have the spasms for some reason other than comfort or discomfort. In other words, I hope I'm not messing up any healing by not taking it.
Today I'm not as nauseus, or I would have called the doc's office and asked.

WOW...what great talk for a TOAL CHAT. SORRY EVERYONE!!!
