I say that because it appears now that the odds of the Dodd family making this TOAL are really, really slim. :sad2: Things with our schedule for our work make it almost impossible to go. So impossible that we really have decided to rearrange our vacation plans for 2008.

The one slim chance is if we get transferred again after only two years. If that were to happen it would be announced in May of 2008 just a week before the 90 day mark for the TOAL. Coincidence? Maybe and maybe not. If that happens then we will see if it can be possible but the odds are slim.

But for right now we are making new plans for other TOALs. Like Andy the VM I do plan to stay on this thread but not quite as active as before. I do have another thread for our December cruise that needs attention.

Also I am going to make the September 3rd meet at DTD.

Thanks for all the fun times. I really wanted to make this cruise.

Sorry Captain but Mr Gibbs has to miss this sailing.

 :scared1: :sad1: :sad1: Say it ain't so!

Esteri ( & Todd ),

This looks wonderful - and might I add the bucket tie dyed shirts look terriffic. Just off hand I think it would be better to do it on a just in time basis - but I think it's not wise to cut it too close. Better to say the cut off is about days before embarkation - to allow you time to wrangle through your personal preparation to sail. There is always so much that needs doing in the final weeks - not just cruise related but matters around the houswe and work often need attention. Not withstanding having time to rest and reflect a little.

No worries - I'll be planning on plenty of time to get it all done.

Please keep in mind that there is art work for the Front and Back of the t s***....

Now ...just cause some people were asking and Esteri brought this up ...Some people have asked about Red ...as you can see below the red washes out some of the logo ...Now the Dye thing might be okay but personally thats why white and black go so well with this ....Plus I know some of you have said Black would be hot , well Red would be hot as well ...but anyway ..I am sticking to black and white for myself (these be True Pirate Colors) but I just wanted to show you what we ment by washing out some of the logo ...

Capt'n thanks for posting it with the red background. There are no promises that I'll be able to get a red to work for this. Still playing with ideas right now. The yellow from the other lettering might be nice, but yellow is so NOT a pirate color. :rotfl:

On monday I think we're gonna sign a contract to install a 2.8KW solar photovaltic system in. ...

insert decision criteria and technical details of solar array here

We do hope to build an additon with an updated central heating system while ADDING central air. Plus I have a long shot idea of installing one of those swim in place mini-lap pools. AND I am going to build my cabanna - that will add a little power usage - especially with the kids getting older and getting more sophisticated. This would all increase our power usage and make the case for a larger array real. Assuming that our experience at that point validates the residential power generation concept.

So, it's pretty clear Crash and Mrs Crash never, ever plan on moving to a new house. :rotfl:

He could look into doing a charcter from POTC ....if you read on the website there are many people includeing myself of course that are doing the charcters from the Movie ....He could do Teague Sparrow ...Captn Jacks Dad ....here is a couple of pics ...

Capt'n Jack has a dad? He didn't spring fully grown from the sea?

:rotfl:  :rotfl: This one needed to come with a warning! :rotfl:

Well, it's off to bed for me. Nite all!

It's goodnight for me too. I've got too much to do before I leave & I've been having insomnia. I'm soo tired now I hope I can sleep all night.

We will be in the Caribbean 2 nights before we get to Castaway Cay ...

so it could be one of those two nights ...

pirate:

Final word. Looked up Andrews Navigators and Pirate night was the second night out of the PC which was Curacao. Ours? Maybe Cartenega (sp)

Nite

How typical...

nite dear.

Well... I'll just drift away and bid one and all a good nite for a change. I got an early morning of sorts - the kids and I are hitting the Kid Space Museum/center in Pasadena with some friends - then we'll try a new place our friends have been talking about (A clay pot specialty restuarant) in the area for lunch. I'm not sure if my spouse is coming along or not - as we have some packing to do and gettting the kids out of her hair will enable a relaxed packing experience for her. SO she is unlikely to join us - and besides - none of us are much in the way of morning folks so she is gonna sleep in too (probably).

Sweet dreams folks!

solar-panels-horiz-0326.jpg

On the contrary.... if we can validate the savings with power generation data - then the solar array will ADD RESALE VALUE to our home. And since I have the CAT 5 hookup and software suite for monitoring - then IF the system works to reduce our current bill by 75% (system rated at 485 kWh generated of the 555 kWh of average monthly use over the past 12 months = 87% ... and I am hoping to achieve 75% $ reduction.). And considering that the first reduction of expense goes against the HIGHER priced tiers of power - I am more likely to exceed the percentage generated with the money percentage saved. Except - a portion of our bill is allocated to flat hook up fees.... so if we achieve 80% power generation capacity as promised - then we will achieve 90%+ $$$ savings against the portion of our bill which is attributable to power consumed. Thus... we hope to have elimenated 75-80% or more of our current $1200 annual bill. We know we're a small energy consumer - which makes this even harder to justify - but onthe other hand it is more affordable on a comparative scale to say a home that uses twice our power and needs an array twice as costly.

So, If we end up saving about $900-1000 (++ over time) a year - which is what I'm hoping for... then our resale value is increased by a multiple of this - say no less than 10 years of savings = about $9-10,000 in 2007 dollars. Plus we will have already recovered many years of savings or payback by the time we ever sell our place. So - if the system is anywhere near what is represented in performance - then we should be just fine. I think I must sound like a broken record with my "hopes" on this.

In addition to the $ saved and recoverable in a resale - we would offer the intangible benefit of a GREENER home... which is a plus in liberal California.

Of course, we DO plan on staying put while our kids are in school. And THAT does not hurt our decision to install the solar array.

And now (not surprisingly for the 3rd time tonite) good nite one and all - it is time for me to retire and catch some early evening Zzzzzzz's. !

Good to see you, plus you got to hear all about the Aruba tax...
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

You really had Tina going !!!!:lmao: :lmao:

So, I got my letter from DCL on the increases. My taxes went from $162.72 to $462.72. So, I guess my inquiry to DCL should be, "Please provide a breakdown of that line item charge". This is a seperate "line item", same way transfers & insurance are, and they should have these tax and (port) fees figures readily available. I mean, this isn't privelaged info. I have every right to see a breakdown (by port) of these fees. This is not a hidden cost worked into the quote - it is plainly listed as tax & fees

Since the only fee that has been changed is the PC Tax, the difference between all the tax & fees (less the PC increase) should be what they owe me for a credit - no?? Shouldn't that tell us exactly what the difference between the previous formula (tonnage) and this new (per berth) formula? Even if they can't/won't release the exacts on the PC Tax, all the other port fees/taxes should be at their fingertips and those figures have not changed :confused3

Does this make any sense??????

Perfect sense to me!!!! I am sure it does not to DCL!!!:rolleyes1

Just popping in to say Hi & see what I missed on the calendar! We went to see Josh Groban AGAIN last night! We saw him in the spring in Boston & was so excited his tour came back to New England!

I missed chat & I'll be missing chat for the next couple of weeks since we leave for vaca on Thurs morning! :woohoo: Won't be on much before we go because I really need to get some packing done or DH is going to have my neck! :scared: He's been working over time for the last couple of weeks trying to get us extra money for the trip so looks like I'm on my own till we go! :sad2:

I also wanted to thank all you lawyers, mathmaticians & all around inquisitive people trying to figure out this tax increase. I really hope we end up with some sort of credit! Wouldn't that be grand? :flower3:

Oh & congrats captain on the upgrade! :cheer2:

I missed you on chat:thumbsup2

Based on responses before, if we only have one order window (Just In Time), I'm not worried. We'll have enough kid shirts to make two screens sensible. With two order windows - one for Christmas. I start to get concerned about the Christmas kids order. But, I'm guessing here - I have incomplete data.

That was always the idea... ;)

The only reason I made the bucket dyed idea available is because I was planning on doing it for myself anyway - so, I might as well open the opportunity up to everyone else. :) Though, now that I look at the artwork more closely - I'll have to match that red, but make it either more washed out, or darker - otherwise the letters will visually bleed into the shirt and not be legible. Well, I'll figure it out.

You are sooo great to handle this!!!! :flower3: :flower3: I will be ordering 2 Black Adult T's and 2 White Adult T's to order later or whenever you want!!:goodvibes

I have been over to the WB site seeing what their take on the panama tax and found this very good email with response from DCL.

This response is totally unacceptable. :sad2: Yes the new tax (charge) was designed for the cruise industry to pass on to the passengers. We still have to pay to go through the canal. The passenger has to pay the charge either 1) in the cost of the cruise or 2) as a separate surcharge. That is OK with me, I accept that I have to pay passage through the canal. But what really gets me is DCLs insistence that this is an increase and not a new method of collecting the tax. This is not an increase it is a restructuring of how the fee is calculate per passenger not on The Panama Canal/Universal Measurement System (PC/UMS) based on net tonnage which it is now. DCL had to figure in to our fares each of our portion of the PC/UMS fee (approximately $70-80/person). They are therefore charging us almost double for PC/UMS that they anticipated paying plus the new method that the PC has decided to assess the charges. DCL is basically saying that we are just going to keep the money that we have charged you already and you get pay the new method.

Anyway the other site is doing an email campaign and John (Jhalklas) is locating a higher contact person to email to versus the standard email responses that people are getting.

Let me know and I will be glad to send an e-mail!!! I am writing Tom (president of DCL)tomorrow with a bunch of issues!!!:headache: I am sending letter via Fed EX and was assured his secretary will have to sign for my letter!!!

The odds of being struck by lightning are 1 in 83,930

The odds of being struck twice by lightning twice are 1 in 9,000,000+

The odds of a meteor landing on your house are 1 in 182,138,880,000,000

You might wonder why I am posting these odds. :confused3 It is because even though these are long odds they can still happen.

I say that because it appears now that the odds of the Dodd family making this TOAL are really, really slim. :sad2: Things with our schedule for our work make it almost impossible to go. So impossible that we really have decided to rearrange our vacation plans for 2008.

I never thought that I would make but here is my

A year is still a long time out and things might change again!!:goodvibes I am glad you will be at Earl for the mini meet!!!:thumbsup2

so today we got our spending money for our aug 2007 trip to wdw! we made a little over $400 today at our yardsale!!!
so many little things were sold. the most expensive was a $20 double stroller....we got rid of lots! unfortunately, we still have to store some of it away. i was running behind this am putting stuff out, and it made it really messy here. some stuff never got put out. oh well, there is always next time!!

Wow Shannon, that is great!!!!!:woohoo: Can you come over next week to mark my things for my garage sale???:rolleyes1

Cheryl, did you notice that your tag says OBD and then Obsessive Mouse Disorder? Shouldn't it be OMD?

Maybe you should change it to Obsessive Board Disorder?

My DH would agree with that.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I have it changed once again. Thanks for noticing!!!:flower3:

Hey Crash,
How are your little girls ballet lessons going?

Wandering back to see what I missed in the sprint - I had to reply:

Only the older 6 YO started it. SHe liked it - however, since the swim meet was punishing today - we skipped ballet in the afternoon. AND besides, we're going out of town soon - AND we were told to come back with a video camera so she could get a taping to practice with at home - and I seem to have misplaced my charger for the minicam - and as luck would have it I've also misplaced my digicam with the MEPEG movie function - so I can't shoot any video without bumming a camera from someone. What I really need to get is a DVD burning HD Camcorder! Only problem is I don't think they even MAKE those yet.

OK.. for maybe the 4th time tonite - good nite folks!

Wow...

It seems suspiciously quiet for a saturday evening.

Am I to assume I'll be dancing up to 69,000 alone?

I don't know if I can generate 80 postings without help?

The graduation really was more important. Anyway you got your 1000th  post.
We were talking about how if my DD hadn't changed her plan for finishing her schooling, she would've graduated in AUG 2008. Which means we would've been on the ship. Whew, good thing she screwed up with her planning and now will be graduating in Dec 2008. That would be terrible
