I need to contact DU as I want to pay off my cruise in the next 2 weeks. I don't have my reservation # or pin number because it's lost in computer space. Can someone help me getting the phone number? TIA :) :)

Thank you ! Yes & Please..............Where can I find the cheapest gas?:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Really can't believe it's more expensive here rather then NY.:confused3

My DD really needs to meet some people her age. ( 13 ) She is still excited about the move but since her friends threw her a great going away party.....she is sad & homesick. She is so shy.

Unfortunately, Chicagoland has some of the highest gas prices in the nation. I don't have any idea why. The further west you go, the cheaper it gets. For example, here in Bolingbrook, I paid $3.19. It was $3.23 in Woodridge and $3.31 at the BP in Arlington Heights.

I have a 13-year-old, but since he's a boy, I doubt he has much in common with your DD unless she's into video games.

Hello Everyone !
Thanks for all the "Welcomes " to Chicago.:goodvibes I got ALOT of unpacking done and I will be taking care of everything for the car change on Wednesday. My computer can't be saved.:sad1: :sad1: :sad1: I am not upset about having to replace it, just all the photo's and info I had is gone forever. All of my address & phone numbers, you name it gone.:sad1: :sad1:

Not true....

... your hard drive SHOULD be salvagable... it is really a matter of WHO you know (that would do it for free) or what IF you're willing to pay for the data recovery. Even HDs that have been submerged under water or crushed can be salvaged - provided the platters were not physically destroied - or the data somehow corrupted beyond recovery.

I don't know who you might want to use in CHicago - I have a friend who might take a look at it and recover your data free - but we live out here in California. My pal who would do it is a technology wiz - and has worked for Boeing Aerospace and Homeland Security as a sort of emerging technology expert with computers. He's one of my oldest and best friends and sometimes all I need do is buy him lunch. Well... Lately that's been a rare event.... as I've done some sizable and unusual favors for him lately - So he's been working to even out the score with me. Not that I'm counting.. mind you. Friends help each other out with favors in times of need, eh?

WIth that in mind - you suppose you can get the hard drive out and ship it to me? Or do you know WHAT the problem is that makes data recovery so difficlut? Having a local recovery firm do it could run you $40-50 an hour and generally be several hundred. Or just bring it to one of those companies and get a quote on the cost to recover the data. OR... google data recovery ... and you'll see a few web based companies offerring thier services.

Or if you like PM me and I'll see what I can do if ya wanna ship the drive to me...

I used to think "gone" was "gone", but can relay a story that might give you some hope. A colleague of mine in Pensacola was hit by one of the hurricanes a couple of years ago. She, DH and DD were in the house as the water rose to between the front door handle & the dead bolt. A week later, she found her laptop, which had been completely submerged .. for days. When she opened the lid and held up the machine, chunks of salt fell out of the keyboard, the CD drive and all the attachment plugs.

Her machine had the only copy of a project we'd been working on for months. She shipped it to the I/T guys, who were able to recover the files on her hard drive. We work for IBM and it was an IBM laptop. They shot an ad using her story.

I don't have any contacts in Chicago, but there are folks who know how to do this. Good luck!

Lil' G... will these do?

Hi Tom, I love that giraffe!:cool1:

Personally, Laura, I would say that when you snagged the 10,000th post, you proved you were the Pirate Queen -- wear the title proudly!

Thanks for the encouragement! :thumbsup2

When you get her, I'll have to show you some new fangled leash/harnesses they have that really do stop dogs from pulling. Your son would then be fine to walk the doggie...

One's called a loose lead Halti collar. We have one for Abby and i haven't had to worry about her dragging me the street since.

A few friends of ours have their dogs on what's called a sensation harness (It kinda goes down around their front legs.)

Good luck getting to the ferry (gotta at least make it to the continental US)...

I got our huskies one of them at least a Halti - but she spent more time trying to take it off and acting like a hopping bunny than walking so we ended up take it off. What we did discover was a bungee type of least that is good for up to 80 lbs. It works wonders and while it hasn't stopped completely the pulling, she does tire of the pulling and stops much sooner. Its like putting constant pressure on a bungee and she tires that much sooner. They have them by weights but since she's small but powerful went up one size to accomodate the bigger one. Of course - that one prefers to spend her time meandering over everything so we just use a regular leash on her.

Thanks for the backup, Crash! I hope you've been following the other thread when suddenly someone will admit missing you! You've become quite popular!

Yes - good heavens - they even thought Andrew was much better at posting graphics than you! :scared1: I BEGGED her not to start a war but you know - no one ever listens to the peons! :lmao: :lmao:

Oh wait - that was supposed to stay there wasn't it? Never you mind Capt Crash - I never said nunthing about Andrew having better graphics than you OK? You never saw anything! :rotfl:

Yes, Andrew, you've become quite accustomed to being the only male posting regularly on the other thread . . . quite the "prom king" as Little Children would say. Then along comes Crash with his flashy graphics . . .

:rotfl2:

Oooooo Nooooo!

I can answer that one for Andrew, since he is likely asleep by now . . . he should hear at 30 days, which is in a few days (Wednesday, I think). I'm on the waitlist for that one, but may not get in because they have a limit to how many can be in the private room.

Julie I also tried for 14 of us!!! :confused3 I was just wondering if it is going to happen.:confused3 If there is a drop out on my list, I will let you know!!! :flower3: I would love to add you but I hear the max is 14!!!! I always felt the more the merrier.:thumbsup2

Last August my dad (70 years young) went on Everest twice! At the time he wasn't feeling well overall but thoroughly enjoyed the ride!

(Come to find out dad had a stroke sometime much before our trip and this past Jan hade quadrouple bypass!)

This trip he is hoping to go on again! We will be checking with his dr's!

Well. DH had a five by-pass and 14 years later a 4 by-pass. We definitely are not going for anymore.;) I think we can take the heights and the speed but I do get motion sick!!!:sad1:

Even with 12 days, we still didn't manage to do everything we would have liked! DS8 was still asking "do we really have to go home already" on the last day :rotfl2: But we did certainly do more/different things than on our usual 1 week vacation.

Everest can be pretty interesting ... I think it is smoother than RnR Coaster, but it can definitely cause motion sickness. I'm not at ALL prone to motion sickness, but there is one section on Everest that can definitely bother me. I'm not sure how it would affect a bad back - I would guess if you are OK with Big Thunder or RnR Coaster you would be OK with Everest. If you are afraid of heights (me!) think long and hard about if you really want to do this ride. I've ridden it several times with DS & DH, but I don't know if I ever will again. It broke down when they were in line for their 3rd ride of the day and I was watching from outside. One train was stopped on the big incline right near the top of the ride. Eventually, they raised a handrail along the side of the track and everyone had to walk down the steps that run along the track. Just the thought of doing that gives me the creeps! This was all happening as a huge thunderstorm was rolling in, so they had to get those folks down off there fast... A little later there was a lightning strike near Everest (according to several cast members both that day and the next) that knocked out power for most of the AK rides for a couple hours. We waited out the storm (shops & restaurants were OK) and when they finally reopened stuff we were able to walk on to anything.

pdarrah (Pamela)

Okay Pamela, I really don't like the motion sickness you added into the description!! :scared: We can do height and speed but The RnR Coaster made me sick because I went upside down.:sad2: I can handle Tower of Terror 10 times in a row without a problem but give me the twirlling teacups and you would not want to know any more.:rolleyes1 I went on Mission Space and once was enough for my lifetime!!!! :upsidedow Is it like that???:confused3 I almost forgot!!! I do not want to get struck by lightening!!! Our house was struck once and do not want to repeat that again!!

You really have to dig through their FAQ to find it. It is only for payments and issues with reservations -- you cannot use it to check availability or ask general questions b/c I don't think it is staffed by travel agent types, just business people who know how to deal with existing reservations.
