We have decided to go to Florida for the winter starting in Jan 2009. I'd like to go to Costa Rico or Mexico but DW is against leaving the USof A. So we'll be hunting for lodgings next year. I think we'll be smarter to buy than rent for three months.

DH loves Costa Rico -- he's gone deep sea fishing there....and he tried to talk 23dd into getting married there...

We love watching International House Hunter on TLC.

Well I'm back from the dentist. I had a deep root scaling done. UGH! I think I prefer the Gyno!

Tonight we are going to a Texas Hold 'Em Cancer Fundraiser. Our nephew
(15) who is in remission from leukemia his raising money for Childhood Cancer. What a brave and inspirational kid he is. We haven't been able to see him for a while and we are exciting to visit with him tonight!

Thats' beautiful... I've had several friends, a neighbor and some family members who have been threatened with chronic illnesses in the last year or so... and it used to NEVER that way. Prior to last year I'd say it NEVER seemed to happen to friends, family or anyone who was nominally close to us. And - as such the past year has sharpened my focus on life = and shocked me into our mortality. One family has one parent with kidney cancer - which was removed - and now they've found evidence the cancer has spread. They have a 2 year old child... and they are approximately our age. I feel like it could have been us in that condition... you never know.

.... .... it makes me appreciate some of the simple things in life and seek out things which make me happier. I used to just plug away at work and focus on business and money... and now I feel that is clearly NOT the most important thing anymore. Go figure... ?

So ... my cpmpliments and cheers for your nobel nephew. If I read this correctly he is hosting this fundraiser.

Good morning everyone! It's a hot and muggy day here, of course it's dance recital day! Fun fun, sitting in a HS cafeteria with lots of children! I'm helping back stage and no air! Taking a lot of water this time! The girls did a nice job at rehersal. DD's pom pon class is doing Greased Lighting from Grease. It is so cute. Will try to take some pics. Since I'm helping, I get to stand back stage and watch when dd dances. She's in 3 today.

It was great talking with everyone last night. I really look forward to Friday Night chat. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Pack a fan or mister with powered fan! Otherwise it sounds like you have a nice afternoon so long as you can manage the muggy air. ME, I would not last 10 minutes in muggy high humidity. Some of us pansy Californians are not accustomed to it!

Ah yes Mary, one of the more effective uses for the beloved Freak Flag! Though these days, my just breathing embarrasses the STs! So of course I do nothing better than playing with their heads. When I dropped Taryn off at her friend's house for the Senior Trip I hugged and kisses each one of the friends and told them each, no boys, drinking, stealing or drugs! Geez if the ground could've opened up Taryn would have jumped right in. I love these get-even moments

Enjoy those "get-even moments" because there comes a time when they actually allow those moments. I think my DS turned 30 when that happened.

He still hates for me to take his picture though .....

I am running around trying to get packed and head off to the airport. I'm heading to Memphis. One nice thing the hotel, free internet access! Since I'm not home and at the office, more time to DIS.

Hello I am back, had a great time in Majorca, Spain.

On the flight over there we started our decent over Barcelona and it was clear skys, and I could see the port, two cruise ships were in and I am sure one was the Disney Magic.

On arrival in Majorca it was a little overcast, and cooler, but after getting my hire car, we drove up to the private villa, in Pollensa.

I booked a peaceful location and we got that, the villa was up a single track road for about five miles and in fact the very last building before the cliff edge. The road by this time was nothing more than a dirt track.

The weather then became windy and cold for two days but then was back upto 27c to 37c on the beach for the rest of the week.

We toured North West Majorca by car and also went on there local modern trains and then a 1912 train service through the mountains long tunnels etc to Stoller. Great fun and as the weather wasn’t good, a good use of time.

Pollensa also has famous steps some 365 up to a chapel, nice walk!

Later in the week we had quite a lot of beach days as it became very hot, and then went back to the villa to have a swim in our pool.

Food we had breakfast in the villa but for lunch and dinner we went to restaurants.

I presume the cost will be similar to Barcelona a meal would be from euros 9 to a set meal of euros 14 a full meal with soft drinks for a family of four was about 60-70 euros.

I just woke up from a nap... had a 3 year old climbing over me while chatterring about something. And I asked for some peaceful protection from my spouse just before I fell asleep...

Oh well... I was wonderin' ... as you made reference to "doing services with them" ... and you're having dinner with the officers? This has me guessing as to if you're a minister ... or military chaplin or something? And "officers" has a capital "O".... so does this imply anything as well?

Anyway... my spouse just apolagized and ushered the kids into the back of the house... an' it should have been done before I was awakened.

SO - I can relate to Andy's mention of havin' a blissfully quiet home without his girls around.

Yankees DIS mini-meet in New York

I investigated tickets for July 14th Y v ? and August 4 for Y v KC, there are only nosebleed tix available for those days for a group of 8-12 people, let me know what you think. I'm still game. Ticket price is only $20. Oxygen and sherpa extra.

Hi Peter, we would be interested in the August 4th game nosebleeds or not. We will be in Hawaii for the July date. But don't let that stop you all if you have more interest in the July date.
