Whats everyone havin' for supper tonight?

I've been tasked with bidding on ebay at the last moment on some MBT shoes for my spouse. Then I'll join them at the pool for a little bit before ... I think ... we'll go to buca de beppo ... or is it peppa de bucco. hoot... I've only been there once and it was a date nite with our church. So - we have this coupon for $10 off a $30 tab - so we're goin' tonight (I think) before it expires in another day or so...

....that's the long version of "whats' fer supper"

OK... as you can see I googled it... and it's Buca de Beppo...

OK... 3 minutes and 40 seconds to go on these wierd sneakers...

Am I gonna win 'em?

NOoooo.... someone just dropped a bid that's beyond my perscribed limit. Oh well.... In the final minute they jumped from (get this) $110 to $139 + 15 shipping. I still remember when sneakers where sort of strictly casual and inexpensive shoes. Now they make all sorts of designer or exotic models and styles. And for what... ???? ... commerce I think. Gizmos and wizzz-bang is all. I get by on plain old regular shoes and work shoes. And she gets to hunt after all the fun stuff... sigh.

OK... I'm off to help watch the kids at the community pool and then probably buca de Beppo for the first time with the kids.

Hope your Memorial Day weekend was safe and manageable!

(He's one of the youngest in his class and currently about about 6 months developmentally behind his class - though catching up every year.)

My DD is one of the youngest with an end of May b-day. When she started school though, many parents had held their kids back in her K class so probably 6-7 kids out of 20 were a full year or more older than DD. This caused the "normal-aged" children to be called immature socially. (uh-no it's the way older kids being compared to the younger ones and in K and 1st grade that year really stands out.)

Anyway, it's funny because as young as dd is...She's always been the tallest. Some kids are finally starting to catch up but back in the lower ES grades, she towered over all her classmates by at least 6".

DD would always have much older kids try to talk to her but they thought she was different. (uh yeah- she's like two years younger than they were)

Somehow I think it's going to be harder to get a number 2 boarding pass this time around;)

Stick with me...i got to the terminal around 11 last trip. This was my first cruise with the whole boarding #'s thing. Apparently i didn't see anyone handing out #'s downstairs or maybe we didn't look worthy to get one. After i checked in at the desk, i casually asked the CM, "When do we get a #?". She said, "uh you should have one already." Nope. So then she says that she happens to have some and i just kidded with her and said, "Lucky # 2?" (cause my birthday's the 2nd and i didn't want to ask for a 1)...

She said, "look at your #" It was a 2.

Thanks to everyone who commented on my birthday!!

Stinky teens.....

BTW everyone has to look at that CJS caption on her sig:laughing:

That's the first one I remember seeing! And we saw it at the drive in! :) I'm probably older then you.... I don't remember how old I was but, I know we lived in New Orleans so I was between 7 and 11! :rotfl:

I was pretty young when I saw it, maybe about 4 or 5.:confused3(early 70s ) All I remember from the movie was Uncle Remus sing and the Blue Bird landing on his shoulder.

Five years ago my dad bought a bag of junk home that had a bunch of old VHS tapes in it. One of the movies was SOS.

Hi Steph

I was about to sign-off when I saw that you were online and posting.

Claire should remember that pleasant things come in small packages !!!

David

And that small package has more energy then the rest of us combined! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Our girls are going to be so big on this next cruise!! :sad1:

Did any other West Coasters make it to the Pirates Lair opening this weekend? It was really incredible, and the new cave area vastly exceeded my expectations. You can put your hand on Davy Jones' locker and feel his heart beating, but my favorite was a scene where you pull on a gold bar and then a skeleton hand comes down holding an eyeball and says, "I saw that!"

They also have a new Captain Jack meet-and-greet area. Here is our (partial) family picture:

We bought DS a Small World bath toy, and he presented it to Captain Jack, who correctly surmised, after closely inspecting it, that it was more of a dinghy:

It was a great day at the park.

But of course if those sneakers really did get rid of cellulite and trim the bottom like everyone claims they do, they would be worth that much and more!

Early 70's I was probably 9 or 10.... And that is the only part I remember! LOL! To this day one of my favorite somgs for the kids to sing for auditions (some of my children have been/are into community theater) is Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah. It is just so much fun! :rotfl:

When 500 of us show up in the same t-****, they may want to get us out of the terminal ASAP.....

True enough -- you don't want to keep 500 pirates getting worked up in the terminal! But will they want us on the ship?

We ate at one of those the first time we came to meet Dh's potential boss when we moved down to MD.

i think dd got food poisoning or something because the food went right through her that night...

Then the next day we went to DH's potential office to fill out some paperwork for employment and take the tour.

Well DH was showing me his new desk and dd was down in the foyer. (office was in an old house) She yells up to us, "Mom, i don't feel good" and then proceeded to barf all over the woven rug in the entryway...

(Believe it or not, DH still got the job...But to this day..we really can't bring ourselves to go back to that restaurant)

I must confess to not being familiar with FIGMENT. However, I like your Bob Iger answer! And the Swabbie draws chuckles too!

But of course if those sneakers really did get rid of cellulite and trim the bottom like everyone claims they do, they would be worth that much and more!

Ya kno what Julie...

I thought it was curious how they don't make any of these shoes for MEN. And... <chuckles> I can't help but have HACKING CHUCKLES (silently) over my spouses' interest in these things. AND... I must say I think it;s her sisters' doing. Ya get those two girls together and I don't know what happens but little things CHANGE. ANd now my dear beautiful spouse thinks she needs this for WHAT reason? Or she needs this or that cream for skin... when her skin is perfectly beautiful now? I am in mild disbelief how in the past there was little or no interest in what I think is mildly obcessive behavior.

Now the same could be said of me with the little things I am interested in. Like my digital photgraphy, computer games, games in general and ... my kids and family. I guess - to each is to their own. I am really not being skeptical or critical of her interest in funny shoes or skin creams. It's just the recent spike in interest where I see NO possible need for it. :confused3

It make me wonder whether theres' some kind of conspiracy a-foot?!?

HOW VERY FUNNY....

(sorry... I didn't mean it THAT way...)

But I did laugh out loud after I sounded it out ....

Puka de uppa

What a story though... I'll be careful what I order now...

<chuckles>

That sounds really nice...

We (snif... snif...) didn't really do anything or go anywhere today...

I (believe it or not) actually skipped the Star Wars con on account of the evolving schedule - and my saturday for the star wars convention was hijacked for other purposes. Today WAS always reserved as a day of recovery and rest. Oh well... it may be a 30th anniversery Star Wars con... but the truth is I am not that kind of enthusiast. I have a couple costumes and props - but the physical artifacts are not matched by the emotional comittment I guess. COnsider, I have never before gone to a Star Wars convention - or Sci Fi con. Not ever! Howsever... I have been to one or two GAMING conventions, and I've been AT hotels that were hosting game comventions - as I coincidentially was staying there on business when they ran them. I used to travel A LOT - 7 days a week and on holidays when these conventions took place. I never used to limit my work to M-F 9 to 5... it was 24/7/365... and I only came home when I had no appointments or no-one I felt like dropping in on in the region for a couple of days.

So I'm waiting for the spouse to dress for supper. I'm wiondering if I should not bring vinyl bibs for everyone in case someone gets food poisoning. <chuckles> OK... I know it was an isolated case.... OK....
