So glad you've got Sugar back. It's such a worry when they get out.

We've lost our several times over the years. The strangest was probably Jet-A who spent 4 days running the top of Bull Run Mt. in VA. It was a busman's holiday - she didn't come home hungry. Though she did crate herself in one of the three crates we left out for the purpose when she was ready to come home.

The most worrisome was Digit who was gone for 5 days here in Sacramento - in town. We knew where she was, we were constantly getting phone calls from our signs. But she wasn't having anything to do with anybody. She'd crossed 4 major intersections by the time he managed to be in the same place at the same time. She didn't recognize my husband, but did make a beeline for the car.

BTW. That was one DIRTY dog!! :)

.........

He was extra dirty on this occasion because he had gotten out for a few hours and got into "who-knows-what" while he was out. SO he was rewarded with the bath and a little bit ofg a Lion Cut.

As your for history of critters getting out - we have had some long term escapees too. Our other Samoyed once got out for a nite before we found him tragically standing on the side walk about 1.5 miles from home - not walking. He was sort of unable to walk and we took him to the vet. The vet said he had NOT been hit by a car - but apparently had run hard from something and threw his back out - so to speak. He was perscribed prednisone to reduce the inflammmation and in a day or so he was much better. Took about a week and a half before he was 90% of himself again.

So... yeah. The water was probably the worst I've EVER had it for Sugar (or any critter)!

TTFN!

The Pentax is only $200

We got the Canon SD3000 which goes in the zip lock bags for FREE as an incentive award from my spouses' company. Nah-Nah-Naa-Naa-Naaaaa--Nah.

<chuckles>

Now I know I must be tired to be doing THIS!

And I am...

A moment ago I was reclining with eyes closed almost slipping away seated here! OK... I'll give it a few more minutes before I turn in...

Edited in...

I thought this ....

.... was too funny. ... it was a "good one".....

Talk about your Good and Bad reports, check out this post from Tom & Lynn (DisneySpirit) a fellow August 2008 Repo Cruiser.

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=18869873&postcount=71

So sorry to hear of your troubles Tom, but was happy to hear the passport was found and you were able to rebook for later. Looks like you will be sailing with some others from this thread as well in July.

Ohmy... I'll have to tell DH about this happening so he'll be a little more understanding of my checking and doublechecking that we still have everything and keeping it all in one part of my purse and never setting my purse off my shoulder or my lap at any time... all the way from the house to the airport thru the flight to the cruise. LOL

Ooops, his alarm just went off for work. Guess I can tell him now. hehe

If it hadn't been for our DD last August, we would have missed our cruise. I accidently dropped our passports while checking in at the Red Cap stand at Philly Airport. Luckily, Angelina saw the DCL envelope on the ground and said, "Dad, does that belong to us?" Since we were going to be using our passports to get on the ship, we had left our birth certificates at home, and since Angelina was born in Mexico she needed either her passport or Naturalization Papers to board, and the Papers were in the safety deposit box at our local bank. You can only imagine how my heart was racing after I found out I dropped the passports, I kept close watch on them from that moment on.

Ack! So glad you narrowly avoided a disaster!

I am SO A**L about the documentation and passports that it drives my DW insane. Losing any of it would be the worst thing in the world because of this possibility happening.
ditto. (about the so A**L part and driving spouse insane)

My camera is an Olympus C-7000 7.1mp point and shoot that I have had for about 3-4 years now. Has all of the manual controls of an SLR but fits in my pocket. Much better cameras on the market now. Since we are going on the Dolphin Encounter in Nassau and Castaway Cay I was quite concerned about cameras, water and sand. So I looked for an underwater housing for my camera but they stopped making them. Plan B, I found a line of waterproof bags that are for cameras with a clear front lense that you can shoot through. The camera is in the bag and you have to push buttons and make adjustment through the plastic but it works. I was willing to give it a try since it was only $34. The bag has a very easy 3 snap closure that is very easy to work and did a great job keeping the water out. I was so impressed that I ordered the one for my video camera. Water, sand and rain just don't mix with cameras. I go the first one at REI but later found a wide variety of them at Amazon. They make them for cameras, phones, IPODs and just general use waterproof bags. here is a picture except the one I got does not have the blue material but is entirely made of clear plastic. Forgot to mention that once something is in the bag it floats. No fear of camera sinking to the bottom.
1002591.jpg

This is going to be a must on excursions next year and may also help keeping the humidity out when we are down south.

I gotta find that bag. Awhile back I was trying to find one, affordable, for mine and none of the ones I saw had a handle strap thing on it like that one!

Yeah, we had no problem last time with the #2 pass . . . I'm not going to get too worked up about how quickly I get on the ship for this cruise since I will be on it for 15 days!

ditto.
I think we won't even bother with getting there really early. Come in late and just walk on? Last time we got there early, STILL didn't find people from disboards, and all so we could swim while everyone was boarding/etc. and it wasn't really a big deal for the kids anyway. We still had to rush to get room ready, do the lifevest thing, and get ready for show/dinner! We're going to be on there 15 days... they'll get plenty of swimming time. LOL

That's a good idea, someone should start one. Maybe a website too! :lmao:

Yeah, website is a good idea. haha
Seriously though, have I missed a link to the website back up again? Or is it still on hiatus?

OK... 1 minutes to go on these wierd sneakers...

WM-7009.jpg
Am I gonna win 'em?

NOoooo.... someone just dropped a bid that's beyond my perscribed limit. Oh well.... In the final minute they jumped from (get this) $110 to $139 + 15 shipping. I still remember when sneakers where sort of strictly casual and inexpensive shoes. Now they make all sorts of designer or exotic models and styles. And for what... ???? ... commerce I think. Gizmos and wizzz-bang is all. I get by on plain old regular shoes and work shoes. And she gets to hunt after all the fun stuff... sigh.

OK... I'm off to help watch the kids at the community pool and then probably buca de Beppo for the first time with the kids.

Hope your Memorial Day weekend was safe and manageable!
someone needs to learn how to use esnipe...

BTW everyone has to look at that CJS caption on her sig:laughing:

I saw it, and it's hilarious!!!

Ya kno what Julie...

I thought it was curious how they don't make any of these shoes for MEN. And... <chuckles> I can't help but have HACKING CHUCKLES (silently) over my spouses' interest in these things. AND... I must say I think it;s her sisters' doing. Ya get those two girls together and I don't know what happens but little things CHANGE. ANd now my dear beautiful spouse thinks she needs this for WHAT reason? Or she needs this or that cream for skin... when her skin is perfectly beautiful now? I am in mild disbelief how in the past there was little or no interest in what I think is mildly obcessive behavior.

Now the same could be said of me with the little things I am interested in. Like my digital photgraphy, computer games, games in general and ... my kids and family. I guess - to each is to their own. I am really not being skeptical or critical of her interest in funny shoes or skin creams. It's just the recent spike in interest where I see NO possible need for it. :confused3

It make me wonder whether theres' some kind of conspiracy a-foot?!?

We all have our "thing"- and sometimes it changes with the times. LOL

Better late than never.....hope it was a nice one for all!

Since we're getting down to the wire before the trip, we've been hustling to get the laundry done, the house clean, the business prepped for our absence.....you all know the routine.

So I haven't been able to catch up and stay caught up. :guilty:

I'm so jealous!

I see I've missed some sort of conversation about underwater cameras. I have the whole kit and kaboodle with the SeaLife Reefmaster set up, strobe and the whole bit.....but it's awfully bulky to haul around.
I am in LOVE with the new camera I got about a year ago. It's the Pentax Optio W10 underwater digital....and only the size of an average "pocket" digital. The pics are pretty darn good, though, and much easier to carry around.

I have to find out how much those cost! I'm guessing that an underwater digital camera probably doesn't fog up like a regular one does from the humidity?

7 question time again....

3) what was the 1st Disney show you can frecall having seen? Mary Poppins (that was Disney, wasn't it??) otherwise, maybe Pinocchio or Bambi

4) what was the LAST Disney show you can recall having seen? Other than the stage shows on the ship....Cars

5) if you could be the CM playing a DISNEY character on the ship or at one of the parks for a day - which would you choose? At the parks, a Jungle Cruise "captain"....on the ship, Asst Cruise Director

6) U like any Disney VILLANS? WHos' your favorite one? Ick, I don't like any of them!

7) What new DISNEY CHARACTER would YOU create to add to a Disney movie? To start a movie of their own....maybe a Panda since I don't think there's been any panda movies or a dolphin?
To add to an existing Disney movie....more wenches in Pirates! (maybe some older, cute, short, round ones!!)

It is so funny your answers... so similar to what mine would be.
Ditto on first movie. Us old folks have a hard time remembering which ones were the first! (and I do believe MP is a disney movie...)

Why haven't you seen POC AWE yet? What is wrong with you woman? LOL
too busy planning for a trip eh?

On the ship- asst cruise director huh... not cruise director?

I don't like any of the villians either. I'm not into the bad guy/gals.

Dolphin disney character would sure make Ruby happy...

Ditto on more wenches in the pirates movies. ONLY ES and that's it? Whatever. LOL

The Pentax is only $200

Hmm, I may have to see if I can swing that extra cost before this cruise...

The banner on the top of my morning newspaper reads as follows:

Hot here yesterday 91 and probably the same for today. Thank God for A/C and the swimming pool. I don't think I could have ever lived in the early 1900's or sooner without these comforts we have now.

Hope everyone has a great day!!!!!
Talk to you later!!

Question - I see that alot of you are talking about waterproof cameras or protectors for your cameras. Do they make them for Nikon's??? Or should I just go out and price the cheap ones at Walmart??

... now I know it's been suggested these little tiny mile-markers (61,100) are not being observed - but just because it's getting late ... and because I've not seized a 1000th posting in several weeks... I'm gonna "stomp on" this little tiny one!

Wooo-Hoooo!

as this current generation yelps it!

Congrats on your tiny milestone!!!

2) whats' your favorite DISNEY Character - who is NOT a "STAR" r leading character? Rutt and Tuke in Brother Bear (OK, who does that shock?)

pirate:

Ummmmm.... nah, not touching (beyond saying I see math here 2 * .8 = .....)

That sounds really nice...

We (snif... snif...) didn't really do anything or go anywhere today....

It was! We didn't leave the house the rest of the weekend...except Church. ;)

COnsider, I have never before gone to a Star Wars convention - or Sci Fi con. Not ever! Howsever... I have been to one or two GAMING conventions, and I've been AT hotels that were hosting game comventions - as I coincidentially was staying there on business when they ran them. I used to travel A LOT - 7 days a week and on holidays when these conventions took place. I never used to limit my work to M-F 9 to 5... it was 24/7/365... and I only came home when I had no appointments or no-one I felt like dropping in on in the region for a couple of days..

DH & 27ds are gamers -- a few of the younger kids would consider themselves gamers as well..... 9ds learned to read and type (we told him he couldn't play COH until he could read & type as fast as everyone else....he was 5 and he never misspelled a word and typed better then anyone he played with! :scared1: ) He had played games that you could use the mike for before. DH & oldest DS used to love to tell peole *You just got sniped by a 2yr old!* ;)
DH & DS ran a gaming server and have a gaming board.

Oldest DS was 9 the first time that he competed in a Nintendo competition -- and he made it past the first couple of rounds....
Because fo the gaming our breakfst room was converted to a computer room about 5 yrs ago. DH had counters installed along 2 walls and we have 5 computers sit up in here.
If it tells you what kind of gamer dh is he has an Alienware computer.....

They tease me because after 14yrs I still prefer my AOL account.

Say goodnight Crash...

Good nite... good morning!

I don't remember how I got to bed but I'm up again. <huh?> So cheers to a pleasnat TUESDAY morning to all. So ya' all know what today is? It's just 14 months til we sail! Yah!

SO for the next week we're doin' no travel. We're gona sign up the older girl for swim team on the weekend ... then in the AM we have to be early to sign up both kids for Chinese school. I told my parents about our intent to sign them up and they chuckled with excitement that they might/should be able to converse in Chinese with them in the months & years to come. You see, they cannot really converse with the parents (Alicia and I).... although I seem to have little trouble understanding .... or rather I understand my Dad fully and a little of my step mother. She speaks a different dialect then what I was raised on.

POC AWE seems to have earned 142.1 million on the weekend. Good thing I went otherwise it would have only been 142.09999 million. Someone at Disney should consider sending some of us a few E-coupons or something to "thank you" for our heaping it on for their Memorial weekend record making!? :confused3 Or put another way - the Disney movie folks should collect our names and addresses to parley the collateral marketing efforts with free spam promos with margin offers and coupons! They should not miss the cross marketing opportunities!

At any rate, we're gonna pick up some tix for the Hollywood Bowls' season finale on Sept 15th this week. It's a fireworks evening and musical program featuring the following:

Artists:

Hollywood Bowl Orchestra
Thomas Wilkins, conductor
Pink Martini, special guests
Carol Channing, special guest
Merv Griffin, special guest

Program:

From Frank Sinatra to Sammy Davis Jr. to Louis Armstrong, the legendary Cocoanut Grove at the Ambassador Hotel was the hot spot for live entertainment in Los Angeles. Recreating the nightclub's magic is the incredible, indefinable 14-member band from Portland, Pink Martini — with their blend of music from Latin to jazz to European rhythms. This is the Hollywood Bowl at its finest — pulsating music, cool nights, and hot fireworks!

And as my firends know me - I've been referred to as the "all or nothing guy"... and my cousin and I are springing for the $7 benches all the way back in promenade 5! We have relatively young kids who tend to shift and chat, go in and out of the section and so on. Plus the adults shift and chat while going in and out of the section. <chuckles> So the cheap seats in back are just fine. My cousin - who just relo'd from Sacramento to the OC has NEVER been to the Bowl. SO the cheap seats in back are where we're gonna start them. So... our ticket cost for 9 is gonna be roughly $63 versus as opposed to $999 for 9 garden box seats. That is, IF we could get the sold out Box seats! I noticed on eBay they already have a listing for $39 Pink Martini seats with an asking price of $75 each! Shoot!... you can still buy them direct from the bowl now at face amount! Well.... not in the same EXACT location... but you can get the same catagory!

So - we're gonna probably do a candle lit dinner picnic at the bowl with catered food (Thai or Chinese) and add a few tix for neighbors and friends. Typically I put together groups of 20-50. I already have 3 other concerts at the bowl this year - the tribute to the beatles & Sgt Peppers' Lonely Hearts club band, plus 2 inexpensive wednesdays of Jazz. Inexpensive as in $1 per ticket! Remember - "all or nothing" is the mantra imposed on me by old friends - and in this case parking is gonna run about $39 for the 12 of us! So... the Beatles group is small though with around 25 or so. Jazz is a tiny 12 tix block on account of very few being able to consider a mid-week concert. HOWEVER... mid week concerts NEVER sell out - so we 'll be taking our $1 seats and sitting in the vacant $40 section! Ahhhh.... so it's not REALLY an "all or nothing" deal after all.... Uh-huh!

If anyone is interested then check it out! http://www.hollywoodbowl.com/tix/performance_detail.cfm?id=3281 Or if ya wanna sit in our group or join our pre-concert picnic them PM me. You are welcome up to the point where our group hits 50 in number. Over the past decade I've organized groups larger than 50 and at thatt point I can't handle the groups needs and have any fun. Oh yeah... if ya join our group for picnic - but prefer to sit closer then promenade 5 ... I can still purchase in any available section. So - just let me know what interests you. These "hot" weekend tickets typically are sold out - so we usually cannot move down to more costly sections "free". But it has happened before. If the concert is not sold out - then we just figure out what they're still selling at the last minute and sit at the BACK of that section.

OK.... thats' enuf for now. I still need to scan forward from where I fell asleep last nite...

DH & DS ran a gaming server and have a gaming board.

Because fo the gaming our breakfst room was converted to a computer room about 5 yrs ago. DH had counters installed along 2 walls and we have 5 computers sit up in here.
If it tells you what kind of gamer dh is he has an Alienware computer.....

They tease me because after 14yrs I still prefer my AOL account
.

Your 5 terminal gaming room has me GREEN with envy! My friends and I used to get together and lug our computers with us to hook them up into token rings to play games. An old favorite was (and still is) mechwarrior in the network. Ahhh.... the memories of shooting ones' friends in the back from long distance! <pleasant chuckles!>

My gaming friends and I sort of have the kids watching now... but the girls mostly have nominal interest... well... except my girls who just like to roll the dice for Dad now. On saturday we had friends over to swim, have lunch and play a fading game called Mech Warrior (clix). I recently purchased 3D plastic scale sized terrain boards. They're just starting to get painted but my old pal and his 2 twin boys (ages 11) had a huge kick out of the terrain!

SO - I must confess - I am not sure what COH stands for. I freely admit I am not a "know it all".... that is .... until AFTER I find out what COH stands for. <chuckles>

And this last weekend they had a gaming convention at LAX. I not only missed the gaming con (forgot what it was named) - but I also missed the STAR WARS con. I was scheduled to go saturday - but the older one wanted to attend Karate class with Mom (Mommy and me Karate.... they get to beat up on one another a bit) .... then we scheduled the friends to visit for lunch through the afternoon with swimming and gaming. After all that - we went shopping and found some terriffic bargains - and that was in substitution of my going to the SW con with the older girl. That was OK because it felt much more family-like. My spouse was consdiering going with me - we have "matching" costumes - to the SW con - but she sort or changed her mind in the last couple of weeks. I think she felt the costume needed a little tailoring... (!) Mine is a moderately elaborate Anakin outfit which I imported from Singapore. Well... it is beautifully elaborate and detail accurate. AND my spouses' outfit is the skin tight mid-drift (misspelled?) esposing torn white costume that Padme wears AFTER they "resuced" by the Jedis in the 2nd SW episode. Lets see if I can google an image.... I've got a backlog on googled images now with Tom in cue.

natalie_portman_weapon_1.jpg

SO.... does your spouse plan on bringing any games on the cruise? I'll bring stuff too if we have any shared interests! Maybe we could get a few "rounds" played or each try something new for games?

AND... BTW... you should get rid of that AOL account and go GMAIL for free or somethin'....

<chuckles>

So you didn't even KNOW why these shoes are so popular or so expensive!!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I've never had any -- I swear! -- but I get the Bliss catalog and there are pages of information about these shoes . . . the technology came from watching the way the Masai walk and noting that they have no cellulite and tight butts (and low fat food and plenty of exercise, but that's beside the point, right?) . . .

Julie - Julie - Julie ....

.... I freely admit that "I" know nothing about these silly expensive tennis shoes. AND what my spouse knows about them is not known to me... except I have my charming sister in law to thank for her interest in them.

As for the physical observations... the same could be said of lots of things. IE... to truly get those results we should adapt thier diet (what-ever that might be) and relo to a part of the USA which best mimics thier temperatures and environment! Would THAT deliver tight rumps and low cellulite?

I think it is just a bit silly to BEGIN to obsess over such transitory things as mere appearances. I remind my spouse that she's been my BEST friend for almost a quarter century with no one or anything else coming close to it. ANd that long ago I mentioned to her that appearances changing as we age mean nothing to me. Not that we've changed much as she still looks like shes' 10-15 years younger then me even though we're seperated by only 9 months.

At any rate... I know it's a society thing or (I don't know what) that folks think about how skinny or balanced they might look. I think it is a bit more important how balanced or "fit" we are INSIDE. That's including the mental "smarts" as well as the "philisopical" decency we exercise.

Which brings me to the things I'm appalled by in this mornings' news. The Lindsy substance abuse that's being suggested this morning for one thing. I can't help but wonder what these "fameous" people are thinking? Well... clearly they are not capable of thinking decently. They should take a lesson out of Spiderman... with great power comes great responsibility. And their power is fleeting fame. While they have it they are magnified by thier irresponsible actions... and potentially posing a poor example for their fans. I can only shudder to think what our kids may think when their "idols" turn out as disappointing as this Lohan girl.

Which is why I am trying pretty hard to be a good "example" for my kids. I still could stand for improving a little here and there... I don't always eat healthy choices... <chuckles.... burp!>.

OK, enuf of that for now.... eh? ;)

Julie...

Thanks for the comments on the Masi emulating insights for MBTs. I'll pass them along to my spouse and google it (eventually - as Tom is still waiting for an image). And maybe I'll remind her that the cellulite and other considerations which are addressed by MBTs are NOT an issue with her. IMHO. Not now... and not EVER.
