Ok only took an hour and a 1/2 to ketch up!

Andy I'm really sorry to hear of the pain you were in earier this week. I hope you are feeling better.
DH is after me to get to the Doc re my knees, but I just keep putting it off. My mom even commented last night as she watched me get up off the floor, she said "I'm twice your age and don't have that much trouble getting up"

I've taken to walking down the stairs two feet on each step before I proceed, and cant walk up unless I have something to hold onto. Since I have a hi-ranch, its always up & down. THe kneepain started every so often when I hit 30, and here it is 5 years later and much worse, but I never seem to find the time to go to the doctor, I am almost to the point where I think DH is going to drag me.

Today everything is just sore!!! Friday night we had out Blue & Gold Dinner at Scouts. Between setting up, cleaning up etc etc, Yesterday was pure running around. CCD, Soccer and all the last minute stuff for Devin's Communion.

This morning he made his Communion at the 8:30 mass (way to early if you ask me) Then we had a Brunch from 11-3. So I was in heels since 7:30am. I'm a sneaker girl and my body doesnt respond kindly when I tourture it with dress shoes.
It was a beautiful mass. I'm biased, but DS looked soooooo handsome!!!

I understand you wanting to hold off going to the docs, I put it off as long as I could myself, but I got to the point where I couldn't stand the pain anymore.

Congrats on Devin's Communion this morning..........:goodvibes

Congratulations on Devin's Communion.
You have every right to be biased!!

I know what you mean by pain in the knees. I too am a sneaker girl or Birkenstock girl!!

Hi everyone!

Sorry I haven't been around much but maybe soon I will have a little more time to get on here... busy bees around here!

But I'm doing great and the kids are doing great and all is well in the world... well EXCEPT for the fact that my youngest doesn't seem to want to ACCEPT that we're not going on a Disney cruise THIS summer. How many times can a 6yr old "forget" that I've already told her not this summer but next summer? :rotfl:

End of school coming around the corner- time seems to be going so fast as it always does at this time of year. then we'll have youngest's birthday and lots of various camps the kids will be going to (with church, girl Scouts, boy scouts, band camp, cheer camp- you name it). But I should soon have a bit more time to get online.

Lately my time has been spent teaching this old dog a new habit (LOL so to speak) because my sister harrassed me unmercilessly into finally getting a myspace account. What I had to learn was html... it's not easy teaching an old brain like this a new trick like that. literally hurt my brain and gave me a headache the other day. LOL

So anyway, I may be a bit behind the times and fight change and all that- but I do finally have a myspace account. If anyone would like to add me to your friend list and you to mine- I would love that! I don't know if I can put the link here- so to be safe I'll just say put the my space website url with my name shellmomof3 after it and you should be able to find me that way. :) My page isn't exactly like I'd like it but it's as good as it's going to get for now... I'll play around with it more later. LOL

Hope everyone is doing well! I've missed you all!

Hey, BIP, glad to hear you are doing well. We miss you around here.

We didnt book the 1st trip yet, now I have DH rethinking his position.

Alas, my question
Should we do all inclusive in the DR or Disney?????

I just left chat a few minutes ago....

... it was nice to catch so many folks - even though it was fairly brief as I only "hung out" for a few minutes (as opposed to a few hours as I have on occasion). I just wanted to say it was nice to see everyone out in chat!

So - the bunk bed is almost ready to be completed (core unit) - as the structural expansion components are half installed - and those which are not are stained with 2-3 coats of poly-stain - and drying out throughly before I install the smelly stuff in the kids' bedroom. Hmmm... maybe I'll go and ask if they have any poly seals which do not give off so much gas smell... and if so then maybe i can SEAL the stuff I've stained already!?

At any rate... this weekend I plan on finishing the install... and putting it into basic use this weekend. And through next week I'll finish the decorative panels, stairs and last I'll build the slide. that't the plan now...

Here is a hand painted image over a real photo of the actual bunk bed unit. However, our bunk bed is 16" deeper to allow for a FULL SIZED bed on top with the desk set back that much further. Plus - the stone work to be painted on in 3 dimensional foam is not shown. I'm gonna hand carve the foam with a hot wire. The corner towner will be framed out in 1x4 wood as will the door way below. Not sure about the battlements though - that would be too much work... I'll have to attack that with something else to lend it some durability and notpose any hazard to the kids. or maybe I'll dispense with half the battlements ... ??? Only have battlements where the kids can't quite reach it?

Does anyone else think that slide looks awfully steep?

BBC NEWS

Earthquake shakes parts of Kent

An earthquake with a magnitude of at least 4.3 has shaken parts of Kent, damaging buildings and disrupting electricity supplies.
Emergency services have received reports of structural damage including cracked walls and fallen chimneys in Folkestone and nearby areas.
The British Geological Survey said the tremor, which occurred at 0818 BST, had its epicentre out in the Dover Straits.
It said this was the largest UK quake since one in 2002 in the West Midlands.
The earthquake was reportedly felt as far afield as Essex, East Sussex and Suffolk.

EDF Energy said it had managed to restore electricity to most of the several thousand homes left without power in the Folkestone and Dover area.
Scottish and Southern Energy, which supplies gas to the area, said it was investigating 300 "possible gas escapes".
"Obviously there is a smell about and people have been reporting it and we have to attend every single report," a spokesman.
"But at the moment we are not sure if it is natural gas brought up by the earthquake, which can happen, or leaks from pipes."
Significant tremor
David Booth of the British Geological Survey said the tremor, which lasted a few seconds, was of a sizeable magnitude.
"It's certainly the largest in the UK since an earthquake in Dudley in the West Midlands in 2002 and that also caused damage. So this is a very significant tremor."

Dr Brian Baptie, also of the British Geological Survey, told BBC News 24 that the epicentre was seven miles (12km) south of Dover, out in the English Channel.
Randy Baldwin from the US Geological Survey, which monitors earthquakes, said the tremor had a preliminary magnitude of 4.7.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service said it had received more than a 100 emergency calls and was having to deal with "several incidents".
Most of these were reports of structural damage, but a fire engine had also been sent to Folkestone to investigate a "smell of gas".
A Eurostar spokesman said everything was running normally in the Channel Tunnel.
Violent shaking
Sharon Hayles, from Stanford near the Eurotunnel terminal at Folkestone, said her house slid from side to side for about 10 to 15 seconds.
Another Folkestone man told BBC Five Live Breakfast that his whole house "shook quite violently".

Eyewitness Lorraine Muir said: "We've been evacuated by the Sally Army; we've got no gas or electricity."
Paul Smye-Rumsby, who lives in Dover, said: "It was about 08.15 when suddenly the bed shook violently.
"I thought my wife had got cramp or something but then I saw the curtains were moving and the whole house was shaking. It lasted about 1.5 seconds.
"All the power is off and we have got the portable radio on. People are standing outside talking to each other about it."

Quakes in the UK

December 2006 - Dumfries and Galloway (3.5 on Richter scale)
2002 in Warwick (4.2)
September 2002 - Dudley, West Midlands (5.0)
October 2001 - Melton Mowbray (4.1)
April 1990 - Bishop's Castle, Shropshire (5.1)
July 1984 - Nefyn, north Wales (5.4)
June 1931 - in North Sea near Great Yarmouth (6.1)

Wow, hope everyone is okay. I was just talking with my colleagues in the UK on Thursday b/c one of our cabinets for our equipment hasn't been tested for level 3 seismic and we were trying to decide if that was a problem since it is not a UK requirement. Maybe a few more like this one and it will become one.

It's 11:45pm here in the UK so I'm off to bed.

Goodnight all.

David

Hi John,

All I can say is bless you, must seem like you and Mary are starting all over again with the wee little one.

I go to Dr. Obade, he has done 6 of my 7 knee surgeries, his partner Dr. George did my first knee surgery back in 1972, but Dr. George is semi-retired and not doing surgeries any longer. Dr. George did Hazel's hip replacement surgery four years ago however.

Oh well, I've put this off long enough, it's time to get some bills paid and I have two checkbooks that need to be balanced, so I had better get a move on it. Will be back later to see what is going on......................

I see you, like me, find it easier to keep your checkbooks balanced if you keep two of them -- the real one and the fantasy one. :rotfl:

Oh, that isn't what you meant? I guess it's just me then.

You mean we can ....

REFILL our own windshield washer fluid???

I think my wife believes that when it is empty it is time to replace the car.

I know she thinks that about the oil, which I guess is technically true.
