...ummm, I think I'm afraid to go to chat tonight....

and I'm not even an ST.

Or, I could share my "old" Hemorrhoid horror stories.........................:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I know, TMI.........................

Well I was thinking if we want to scare ST's something like that might work. Or talk of nose hair, leaking bladders, toe fungus....:rotfl2:

Did I happen to mention that my bowels are a little runny today............

that will definitely do it :rotfl2:

I just noticed that this thread is now in 2nd place in total replies made. We still have a long way to go to take over 1st place, but the cruise is still a long way off.....................;)

Cheryl--thanks for the heads up on THERA-GESIC, I did the three thin layers a little while ago and my knee doesn't feel as stiff as it did before using the THERA-GESIC.

Since I didn't open it yet, I think I will have Hazel take the 16oz. jar of Mineral Ice back to CVS.

Since I didn't sleep so well last night, I think I'm going to sign off for the night and turn in early........................good night all......................

First of all, you do know that the TV ratings are not a 1:1 match with the MPAA ratings? The MPAA movie ratings are voluntary, plus some PG-13 movies might translate into TV-PG or TV-14 depending on the content and/or the reviewer at the time. TV-PG also includes Deal or No Deal and American Idol ;)

If she's 15 she's probably seen a lot of other stuff but that's just me being cynical. But as a matter of pragmatism, if the blocking you use is on the TV (V-chip) then your local 10 year old can show you how to defeat that! Blocking via cable provider is a little more robust/secure but that has been hacked as well.

It is ironic we are mentioning this the day after the guy responsible for the MPAA rating system died.

I am not saying that DD hasn't seen what is in this movie and technically I don't see anything really in it that isn't seen on night time tv, but it said it was rated PG so SHE thought it would be okay to watch it. And the box of course, didn't stop it from being viewed. My problem with it is that a child who is under 13 or what ever could view it. There is full nudity ( if in profile) and language and a lot of sexual innuendos etc. Not something you would want a younger child being able to watch. There was a time when she would stop watching something that she might consider questionable but now that she is older she has seen this type of tv and other things unfortunately.
I love when I find out she has already seen a movie that I have not had the chance to screen.

Ok, it has been so long since I've seen this movie I forgot about all of this. I do remember something about Molly Ringwald's panties, I think.

Unfortunately, if you rely on the TV to block out offensive stuff, older movies will get through because PG-13 didn't exist then.

Can't answer for Pittsburgh

My dad was a steelie for USX for over 30 years.....

He was one of the last to go at the Levittown Plant in PA.

He would never drink IC beer.

My dad was USWA although not technically a 'steelworker' in the sense his company didn't make steel -- they used it to make transformers.

:sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

My dd is leaving the middle school and starting HS next year.

Is it too much to ask for a graduation?

I just found out that her middle school does absolutely nothing. (Well they do have some kind of awards program but it's just for the kids. Parents aren't invited and i bet it's one of those same darn kid gets same darn award each things)

I don't think our SD does anything for middle school either. I know they don't for elementary to middle. It's kind of surprising when I see kindergarten 'graduations' and even saw a 'first grade' graduation in another school. It doesn't bother me, though -- one less ceremony I have to sit through in uncomfortable folding chairs or back-less bleachers.

I guess everyone is in chat. Since I am not allowed to chat, I'll see y'all tomorrow sometime, maybe.

Got two soccer games, an Eagle Court of Honor and a gymnastics lesson for DD, so maybe not.

When we were in NM we had neighbors who screened everything that wasn't a VeggieTales movie before their four kids (ages 1-8) watched it. Mind you they--and all their friends--would NOT allow their kids to see any of the Harry Potter movies, nor read any of the HP books! Why? Because of the occult connotations (wizardry, witchcraft, spells etc) in the books & movies.

BUT the were all for having their kids see the entire Lord of the Rings series! Why? Nevermind the epic battle scenes, or the gore or the violence...no, those elements actually reinforced their stance regarding the battle between Good and Evil.

And they absolutely didn't permit them to see POTC. Why? Two reasons 1) while there's the battle between good & evil, the "good" side is a pirate and 2) Disney employs those people. Oddly enough though, they took a family trip to DL because their 3 girls love the Princesses.

Those people = gay

Hi everyone!

Sorry I haven't been around much but maybe soon I will have a little more time to get on here... busy bees around here!

But I'm doing great and the kids are doing great and all is well in the world... well EXCEPT for the fact that my youngest doesn't seem to want to ACCEPT that we're not going on a Disney cruise THIS summer. How many times can a 6yr old "forget" that I've already told her not this summer but next summer? :rotfl:

End of school coming around the corner- time seems to be going so fast as it always does at this time of year. then we'll have youngest's birthday and lots of various camps the kids will be going to (with church, girl Scouts, boy scouts, band camp, cheer camp- you name it). But I should soon have a bit more time to get online.

Lately my time has been spent teaching this old dog a new habit (LOL so to speak) because my sister harrassed me unmercilessly into finally getting a myspace account. What I had to learn was html... it's not easy teaching an old brain like this a new trick like that. literally hurt my brain and gave me a headache the other day. LOL

So anyway, I may be a bit behind the times and fight change and all that- but I do finally have a myspace account. If anyone would like to add me to your friend list and you to mine- I would love that! I don't know if I can put the link here- so to be safe I'll just say put the my space website url with my name shellmomof3 after it and you should be able to find me that way. :) My page isn't exactly like I'd like it but it's as good as it's going to get for now... I'll play around with it more later. LOL

Hope everyone is doing well! I've missed you all!

Glad to hear everything is going well. We were just talking about you (wondering how you were) in chat. Keep updated.

I just left chat a few minutes ago....

... it was nice to catch so many folks - even though it was fairly brief as I only "hung out" for a few minutes (as opposed to a few hours as I have on occasion). I just wanted to say it was nice to see everyone out in chat!

So - the bunk bed is almost ready to be completed (core unit) - as the structural expansion components are half installed - and those which are not are stained with 2-3 coats of poly-stain - and drying out throughly before I install the smelly stuff in the kids' bedroom. Hmmm... maybe I'll go and ask if they have any poly seals which do not give off so much gas smell... and if so then maybe i can SEAL the stuff I've stained already!?

At any rate... this weekend I plan on finishing the install... and putting it into basic use this weekend. And through next week I'll finish the decorative panels, stairs and last I'll build the slide. that't the plan now...

Here is a hand painted image over a real photo of the actual bunk bed unit. However, our bunk bed is 16" deeper to allow for a FULL SIZED bed on top with the desk set back that much further. Plus - the stone work to be painted on in 3 dimensional foam is not shown. I'm gonna hand carve the foam with a hot wire. The corner towner will be framed out in 1x4 wood as will the door way below. Not sure about the battlements though - that would be too much work... I'll have to attack that with something else to lend it some durability and notpose any hazard to the kids. or maybe I'll dispense with half the battlements ... ??? Only have battlements where the kids can't quite reach it?

:wave2: ALL!

Asking for prayers and pixiedust: come Sunday am at 121:01 PST. That is when I will hopefully be online booking our Med excursions as that is my 90 day mark. I'm keeping my fingers "crossed" along with anything else I can keep crossed in the hopes that I get the ones I want.

Seems that the ones I want to do are getting sold out quickly and of course our ship is almost nearly full! :scared1: Just my luck right. Anyway, first time booking online excursions so this will be lots of fun - NOT!!!!!

We've been having lots of problems with our internet as Verizon switched our AP address for some reason and forgot to notify us - consequently when it sloowwwwwwssss wwwwayyyyyyy down - we have to reset it and that is not good. Then dawg gawn it - we can only book excursions spots for the number in our cabin - not our group - another dawg gawn it! Makes it tough for a family of 6 oh well - live and learn.

OK - think of me and send your pixiedust: - I'll do the same for others!
