It must be time to go home ..... :rolleyes1

Now that's an idea. Except I have to pick up DS13 after school at 5:30 so if I leave now, I'd be there by 4:30 and have too much time to kill to wait around but too little to go home.

Maybe I can go find a pickup meeting to get into.

I didn't do too bad! I printed up the list off of QVC site so I knew what I wanted. I got the Micky Diamonique earrings, Mickey 10" ankle bracelet and the set of 4 princess bracelets and pens. I'm wait listed for the tiara necklace birthstone one for July and May. I debated too long on them. i usually use automated ordering.

I already had the Diamonique earrings. I bought the tiara necklace, the hidden mickey hoop earrings, anklet, 8" bracelet.

Congratulations Andy.. that is awesome

Wow Andy that is something! Just goes to show what a fun-lovin' friendly guy you are! :thumbsup2

Yeah Andy! Congrats on 15,000 posts. That's alot of chat! Hope your knees are doing better. After this week I might need to buy stock in Thera-gesic too! ( Need a hobbling smilie here! LOL!)

Worked all weekend at my dad's house and going over there tonight. The real estate agent has it listed and needs a key. Hoping it goes quickly. She sold a house on a very busy main street in one month this Janaury! So she is good!

Congratulations Andy! :thumbsup2

When I grow up I hope to have 15,000 posts. :surfweb:

Since I am not even half the man Andy is, I'll settle for 7500.

Thanks All, I've hit a couple of DIS milestones over the past few days!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I did have a good day at work, but it's time to rub the knees down, they still feel a whole lot better then the end of last week. I think all the rain and dampness really put a hurtin' to me, at least today was dry, sunny and warm!!!

Andrew, I sure do hope you are feeling better. I am also on BP meds, and I know how bad those headaches can be. Take care!!! ;)

It sounds like it is a good thing that I am behind with this thread. :) It saved me some money. ;) Glad that you got what you wanted. :thumbsup2

After 28 years of reading the meters the correct way, I'm not about to start guessing at the readings now...............:rotfl:

Andy, I would never doubt that you work by the book. :thumbsup2 I guess that almost every job has a few bad apples who have made it bad for the rest of those who do the job correctly..and go beyond like when you told someone that there was something to look into at their Dad's house here. I would hate to work for the IRS with the way most people feel about taxes. ;)

Yes, that type of meter is known as a "Touch Pad" we have many of them in our township. Once the machine in touching the pad on the side of the house, a button is pushed and the reading is displayed on the machine. We started using these in 2001.

Andy, it sounds like this system would eliminate entry errors as well as save time.

Thank you, its really bad, so I am off to bed, was a good boy eating and walking at the weekend but it will take time want to avoid more tablets.

THANK's

Oh Andy do I have a story for you! My father was a Delmarva retiree and the stories he could tell! As DH mentioned a few million posts ago, my parents home was destroyed in a fire and had to be demo’d since it was beyond repair. We had some meter issues back then, mainly they could not cap the line because they could not find it, along with some other BS mostly water issues not electric, they also asked for their meter back which I said they could get if they could get into the house. Things seemed to get better once we sold the property to a family friend. Anyway we are coming up on 6 years since the fire and I get this notice in the mail that they are going to cut the water off since the bill has not been paid. I can’t remember how many KW have been used but it was up there! I called and explained about the house, offered to send them pictures and all the documents we have. The woman insisted that someone was using the electric at the “house” and that with the new meters they drive down the street it just picks up the signal and that is all they are doing! She then told me “the meter readers are not paid to investigate just to read”. Investigate what, its raw land, at which point I told her that it must be my mom and everyone else in heaven that are using the electricity and that they will have to send the bill to them since I am not paying. Needless to say she marked me as an irate costumer and passed me off to her supervisor who, once I explained everything, was not happy with the way she handled the call, told me to just mail back the notice with his name and investigation number and they will stop the milling… How nice of them huh! We will see what happens in another 3 years!

Oh my, that's amazing.................:rolleyes1

You better believe it, I can get twice as many of these type meters done in the same amount of time as the inside meters. All the new housing developments in our township have these "touch pad" meters. As the old meters break down, they are also being replaced with the touch pad meters.

I might, except I'd have to do it probably over a dozen times, since none of the clocks in my house are synchronized.

For some reason the one on the under-counter TV above my coffee maker said "8:02" this morning as I was getting my coffee, which scared the heck out of me, because it should have said 5:06. (Apparently the Doctor is messing with my home clocks, too).

I can only assume the power went out and someone hit the set button to stop it flashing and it started counting from there.

 I'm truly surprised your clocks to auto-set themselves to one of the NIST time beacons. There are even some VCRs that will auto-set if tuned to the local ABC channel (ABC broadcasts a time synch on a subcarrier).

And for you readers under the age of 12, a VCR (video cassette recorder) is a machine that plays video images and sound, including movies, that are encoded on a magnetic tape. No, we didn't always have Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, organic crystalline matrix or biogel memory to playback movies--it was magnetic tape. And if you rented one from Blockbuster, you had to rewind the tape or they would charge you $3!

Yes, but you'll probably have to share with a million other people who have the same idea.

Well, if you don't win, there's always:

03:04:05 06/07/08
04:05:06 07/08/09
06:07:08 08/09/10
07:08:09 09/10/11
08:09:10 10/11/12
09:10:11 12/13/14

They said that after 00:01:02 03/04/05

and will say it again before 03:04:05 06/07/08
and 04:05:06 07/08/09
and 05:06:07 08/09/10
and ....

:lmao:

Thought I'd share this tidbit of inforamtion that I just saw in an e-mail I received overnight.

At three minutes and four seconds after 2 AM on the 6th of May
this year, the time and date will be 02:03:04 05/06/07. This will
never happen again.

Has Andrew UK chimed in on this yet?

Useless knowledge fact of the day:
You know our friends across the pond will say that we Yanks have it all wrong! That's because the USA (and ony 4 other countries) use the mm/dd/yy(yy) format which is incorrect. The "correct" date format according to 72 countries is dd/mm/yyyy. (Nevermind that the ISO 8601 international standard for date and time representation is yyyy-mm-dd.) Anyway, the whole numerology thing breaks down if one uses the more common (in terms of countries' use) format of dd/mm/yyyy.

That's OK, I just read in the newspaper this morning that the town next to us, are converting all their meters to the type where the meter reader can ride down the street in a car, point a machine from the car to the house, and the reading is sent back to the machine. There was talk of doing that here in our town about 15 years ago, see how far it got don't you.............:lmao: The other town has about 3000 meters and it is going to cost around $1 million dollars to replace all the meters and purchase the equipment. We have over 6000 meters in our township, which get read 4 times a year.

When I lived in West Chester our water meters had built-in modems and once a week the Water Co. computer would dial up the meters and take a reading. Weekly readings were supposed to give them better stats on water usage and demand. Bill were still on a monthly basis.

Contrary to popular rumor, I didn't actually fall off the face of the planet. Yes, that means those horrible Jokes of the Day are Back!!!

I'm nearly 100 pages behind now - so I'll probably just pick up with the last 15 or so and try to figure out what I missed. Sorry for any future groundhogs.

I don't own many new appliances that would have auto-set capability other than my computers. And having synch capability is highly overrated because even though my cable box and my TiVo both get their time from the network, they are not in synch. The cable box is a minute faster.

Angelina and I get the biggest kick out of Hazel everytime we go to return a DVD to Hollywood Video or Blockbuster. Hazel still ask us, "Did you rewind the movie?" Angelina and I just roll our eyes and chuckle...........:lmao:
