You could always "pan-handle" in DC. :thumbsup2

Well, as I'm sure you know given your line of work, Brack, some cynics refer to what I do now as begging for money.

I'll be a highly qualified pan-handler.

Don't knock it, you could make some real bucks

There was a 20/20 or 60 Minutes type thing a few years back where they followed some panhandlers in Atlantic City back to their $300,000 condos

These guys were making 2-3 grand a day panhandling.

Some consider the beltway bandits, panhandlers . . .I know I worked hard for every penny . . .LOL

There are lots of opportunities to work from home or start your own biz as well. I don't think I could work for anyone else again . . .:)

Hockey players would never play naked. Too wimpy without their gear.
Now figure skaters are another story. We are used to nothin' between us and the ice but < a square yard of lycra.

I do both, although mostly hockey these days. I'm still amazed when I get knocked down that it doesn't hurt to hit the ice. I know I'm wearing gear, but my brain hasn't made the split second conversion when I'm on the way down. 30 years of figure skating - three years of hockey. (note expensive comment above)

And yes, you do need to get your priorities straight.

Speaking of sports injuries, this one really hurts to watch:

The kid required 30 stitches but is otherwise ok.

:hippie:

Well we are off to the homeschool day at the Mariner's Museum. It is pretty cool b/c we'll get to see the new Monitor exhibit. They actually brought up the Monitor which was a civil war battleship made of iron (one of the first of its kind). DH and DSs got to see them driving it down the highway in pieces over the past few years. They have spent millions on this new exhibit . . . including a replica that you can board. This is definitely the year to come visit the Williiamsburg and the like . . .every museum here is doing something to help celebrate the Jamestown 400th anniversary (remember Jamestown was started in 1607 with a bunch of guys from England . . )

Have a super day and we'll chat with you later

This is my triathalon.

First we start with a bleary eyed stroll to the coffee pot, carefully navigating .......Wake up.

Now that you mention it....that is what my life seems like most days. DS woke up with a 102.5 temp this morning, was dizzy, still had a headache from yesterday, and his ear & throat hurt. I took him in to be checked out & it is strep. He will be home until Thursday. Honestly we start out most days with the stress of getting the kids out the door & to school on time. Eliminating that would make the day start out so much nicer. If we homeschool next year we could have class 9-12 and then deal with everything else during the day.

Disney Cruise Line Signs Contract with Meyer Werft To Build Two New Ships
New ships will more than double passenger capacity

CELEBRATION, Fla. (April 23, 2007) -- Disney Cruise Line announced today that it has finalized a contract with Meyer Werft shipyard to build two new ships.

Disney Cruise Line President Tom McAlpin and Bernard Meyer, managing partner of Meyer Werft shipyard of Papenburg, Germany, signed the contract in front of several hundred cheering cast members at a Disney Cruise Line cast gathering this morning.

"This is an exciting time at Disney Cruise Line, and we are looking forward to working with Meyer Werft to build two new innovative ships that will take our immersive family-focused cruise experience to an entirely new level," McAlpin said.

Plans to add two 124,000-ton ships to the fleet were announced in February when executives signed a letter of intent to negotiate a construction contract with Meyer Werft.

Scheduled to launch in 2011 and 2012, the ships will more than double the passenger capacity for Disney Cruise Line to meet the sustained demand for Disney's family cruise vacations.

The new ocean liners will be significantly larger than the existing 83,000-ton ships, the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder with 1,250 staterooms each. Both ships will be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

Disney Cruise Line established the family market within the cruise industry when the business launched in 1998. The first two ships were purpose built for families to reconnect and recharge while creating vacation memories that will last a lifetime. From a theater featuring live musical spectaculars to a luxurious spa for adults and nearly an entire deck dedicated to children's activities, the ships truly offer something for everyone.

Similar to the original Disney Cruise Line ships, the new ships will be modern interpretations of classic ocean liners of the 1930s. Disney Imagineers drew their inspiration from the original trans-Atlantic ships that featured a dramatic black hull with two funnels and porthole windows. The profile of the ships, with gentle curves at the stern combined with sleek angles at the bow, is reminiscent of the art deco designs of the era. To add whimsy to the classic design, the Disney ships feature the same exterior colors as Mickey Mouse, with a black, white, red and yellow palette. The new ships will feature elegant, detailed Disney scrollwork at the bow and evoke images of the glamour of the golden age of cruising.

New itineraries

Disney Cruise Line, which traditionally offers 3-, 4- and 7-night Caribbean cruises, has enjoyed strong demand for new itineraries. Trips to the Mediterranean and to the West Coast have recently set booking records within the company.

"Expanding our fleet will give us the flexibility to offer a variety of itineraries in the future," McAlpin said. "We are looking forward to taking our guests on new adventures to different parts of the world with Disney Cruise Line."

I just received this photo from one of our Officers. We have had a presence on the VT campus since the day of the tragedy serving anyone with food and counseling.

Brack, thank you! Even though you aren't there in person...thank you to everyone you work with for being there for the students, staff, and their families. :grouphug:

The culture and museums and zoos will be great. Once we get over the sheer number of people and the whole house situation. I really want to find an area that we like. I don't want to move the kids to another school any more than we have to.

Rural is good.
Commuting nightmare is bad!

I hate shopping. I shop for clothes 2x a year (if that) so as long as there is a Target I'm good to go!

DH rented an apartment in Gaithersburg for the 4 1/2 months he worked at the NTSB last year. It was a 50-60 minute metro ride for him. The kids enjoyed going on the metro to visit DC. They have a 2 story Target!!!! :goodvibes

Budget????? Budget????? Oh no, now I'm getting all weepy again   If I really think about the price of the Repo I'd BAIL!!

Anyway.....how can we possible budget for the Trip Of A Lifetime right? (At least that's what I keep telling myself)

I haven't even tried to add it all up. If we do that...we will end up stressing about it and not go.

Any of these fit your criteria?

That one is very nice! I hadn't seen one the height I wanted before. She has a triple dresser though & will need at least the same capacity if we can't just slide it underneath the bed frame. I will check out the site though. THANKS! :goodvibes

<mental note>Shield this post from DW!!!! :teeth:

I agree. If I had to think about the total I know I would have a panic attack!!!:scared1:

MR- I don't think the word "BUDGET" is in my vocabulary!!!!
