A guy here commented that April is going to be known for mass murders :sad1: because of all the things that have happened...
April 16 - Virginia Tech
April 17 - Jeff Lundgren, Kirtland Cult
April 19 - Oklahoma City
April 20 - Columbine
April 20 - Adolf Hitler's birthday (attributed as a correlation with Columbine)

:sad2: All within the same 5 day period also.:sad2:

Okay, you had lunch...but did you have dessert? ;)

Life is short, eat dessert first!

Speaking of which, I didn't eat yet! No wonder I'm irritable

But what to eat? :confused3 I think I'll walk on the wild side and try Chipotle 'cause Panda Express twice in a week would be.....obsessive

I agree.

Really, it makes me sad to think that some unfortunate kid with emotional issues has seen the videos and now has a new "hero". To know that the murderer held the Columbine killers up as martyrs just disturbs me.

In the end, the killer is the one who has ended up with a moment of fame, and those massacred are among the many lost, with very little attention going to those kids for who they were and who they wanted to be as individuals. When I put the TV on, I see the face of the killer on all of the networks. Not one of those killed has been given equal airtime. That is wrong on so many levels.

Well said. The news media gave the Columbine killers air time and the result is it spawns more violence. It's very sad. I did hear that one network showed pictures of the victims. I don't think it is in the "public'c interest" to know. It makes it harder for the police to investigate, not to mention the anguish of
the families.

Hi Lil' Grumpy! I think what you have said is very appropriate. I enjoy reading your posts and your POV. Thanks for sharing:goodvibes

Well said. The news media gave the Columbine killers air time and the result is it spawns more violence. It's very sad. I did hear that one network showed pictures of the victims. I don't think it is in the "public'c interest" to know. It makes it harder for the police to investigate, not to mention the anguish of
the families.

I tend to watch a lot of those investigative shows on tv and I can remember one where they were reviewing the "Night Stalker" case out in California, and the mayor of San Francisco gave away crucial info during a press conference. Sometimes you have to wonder what are these people thinking? Let the investigators do their work and AFTER they have been arrested and convicted the public can know. Right now, we should be remembering the victims whose lives have been cut too short.

only one on to us..is the crafty crash man!

We already know not to use the word "husky" to describe our dog! Most people think big, giant Siberian or Malamute (? spell). Alaskan's are much smaller. Think marathon runner. Malley won't be more than 40-ish lbs. We'll just call her a mutt. That is pretty accurate since Alaskan Husky isn't an official AKC breed.

Thanks for the link! I'll check it out.

She's a triathlete. Her dog is a marathon runner. And I am sitting on my couch eating Cheetos.

Thank you! That's what I think too. I tend to watch MSNBC alot ( I love Keith Oberman), but sometime I wonder.

Just an update on DD situation with her hip.

Elizabeth had her appointment today. It was really like going into outpatient surgery. I had to stop them from putting and IV in. She didn't need it but they start doing all the usually procedure stuff to every patient because they assume if they are there they are having surgery. When we first got there the doctor came in and asked if she was in pain. She was but not much since it was so early in the morning so he told her she needed to elevate the pain so it would be absolutely sure that the injection would work. So she was trying to make herself hurt by walking the halls and climbing stairs. That didn't work so we had to actually lay her down and Mark and I took turns pushing her leg into postions that would place stress on the hip and then she laid on the floor in the preop room on her sore hip side. She joked that they usually try to make you feel better in the hospital not worse. The staff would come in and ask her if she thought the floor was more comfy than the nice cushy bed. But they never thought it strange that she was on the floor. They must see it all.

She had a pain med injection into her hip joint. The results of the injection were that she had no pain at all after the injection. So they know for sure that the problem is her hip joint and not the surrounding muscles (they were ruling out a tear) So it is what they thought, a hip impingement, and will require surgery. (for those who don't know, this is the last in about 4 months of testing, so they are not baseing the results just on this one test) So she has to see him in 2 weeks (or of course, when ever they can get her in) and the he will map out the plan as far as how he wants to do the surgery. It may be orthoscopic or he might have to open her up. He will probably do the orthoscopic first and if he can't do what he wants (which is to reshape the bones) then he will have to open her up. Either way she will be on crutches for at least 4-8 weeks. He said he is booked with surgeries until September but he is planning on taking some time off from his office practice in July and/or August to spend a entire week doing only surgeries so he might be able to get her in then. We are praying for July that way she would have more recovery time before heading back to school in the fall.

It will be one year this month since she first had her knee injury and has been able to do anything physical at all.

Laura,
Thanks for the update -I've kept Elizabeth in my prayers. It must be a relief to have a definitive diagnosis and schedule the surgery. I hope the less invasive orthorscopic is successful. It's so hard when its your child - I'm sure you'd change places w/her in a heartbeat.
Hope you al have a great weekend.
BYW - your tip worked - I changed my sign-on name - I can now join the chat - except most Fridays other plans interfere. One of these Fridays ......

Chris

I will try to ketchup later. Going out with my daughter for the day and have to do 3 movies tonight!!! More money for me TOAL!!!:cool1:

I just wanted to tell everyone what happened with the highschool bomb threat yesterday. We made all the news stations. The lockers were checked yesterday. Three children were under arrest. Two were released and on child is still arrested. The one child had blueprints, wires, and various other things for bomb making but no expolsives were found in the locker.:sad2: It is under investigation. The only thing released the boy was 16 years old. I was too worried about the Beatles in my life and if I had enough money to go to the movies.:lmao: It is sure a different life now.!!!:scared: :scared:

I will be on chat tonight late!!!! Will talk later!!! Have a nice day.

I'd argue this is nothing new, though. We had a kid expelled from our school when I was in eighth grade (1982) for calling in a bomb threat. They found what they thought was a bomb in his locker, but it turned out to be flares instead of dynamite.

I did hear about what happened at SHS and it is really sad. I heard they were going to have the police there today. My daughter's school sent a note home (she attends a private Baptist school in Schaumburg) to alert us of what happened at the public high school.

Last I heard, scrapping has turned into a contact sport! People (oh c'mon, WOMEN ;)) fighting over that certain last bit of velvet paper or some unique brass brands... And they say if women were in charge there's be no more wars....

Oh, after all the fighting I see on the Friday after Thanksgiving over cheap DVD players at Wal-Mart, I am quite positive a female president wouldn't be any better.

1,149 mile to Nome (for the dog, not me!)

And I can't call myself a triathlete...yet.

Hey don't feel bad. I'm at work, had a wimpy frozen dinner for lunch and all I can think about is going to a local Mexican restaurant tonight! Salsa & chips are calling my name!
