Just an update on DD situation with her hip.

Elizabeth had her appointment today. It was really like going into outpatient surgery. I had to stop them from putting and IV in. She didn't need it but they start doing all the usually procedure stuff to every patient because they assume if they are there they are having surgery. When we first got there the doctor came in and asked if she was in pain. She was but not much since it was so early in the morning so he told her she needed to elevate the pain so it would be absolutely sure that the injection would work. So she was trying to make herself hurt by walking the halls and climbing stairs. That didn't work so we had to actually lay her down and Mark and I took turns pushing her leg into postions that would place stress on the hip and then she laid on the floor in the preop room on her sore hip side. She joked that they usually try to make you feel better in the hospital not worse. The staff would come in and ask her if she thought the floor was more comfy than the nice cushy bed. But they never thought it strange that she was on the floor. They must see it all.

She had a pain med injection into her hip joint. The results of the injection were that she had no pain at all after the injection. So they know for sure that the problem is her hip joint and not the surrounding muscles (they were ruling out a tear) So it is what they thought, a hip impingement, and will require surgery. (for those who don't know, this is the last in about 4 months of testing, so they are not baseing the results just on this one test) So she has to see him in 2 weeks (or of course, when ever they can get her in) and the he will map out the plan as far as how he wants to do the surgery. It may be orthoscopic or he might have to open her up. He will probably do the orthoscopic first and if he can't do what he wants (which is to reshape the bones) then he will have to open her up. Either way she will be on crutches for at least 4-8 weeks. He said he is booked with surgeries until September but he is planning on taking some time off from his office practice in July and/or August to spend a entire week doing only surgeries so he might be able to get her in then. We are praying for July that way she would have more recovery time before heading back to school in the fall.

It will be one year this month since she first had her knee injury and has been able to do anything physical at all.

I agree.

Really, it makes me sad to think that some unfortunate kid with emotional issues has seen the videos and now has a new "hero". To know that the murderer held the Columbine killers up as martyrs just disturbs me.

In the end, the killer is the one who has ended up with a moment of fame, and those massacred are among the many lost, with very little attention going to those kids for who they were and who they wanted to be as individuals. When I put the TV on, I see the face of the killer on all of the networks. Not one of those killed has been given equal airtime. That is wrong on so many levels.

With all that is going on with VT it seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle, but today happens to be the 8th anniversary of the Columbine Shootings. The high school itself is closed and all the other CO schools are holding outdoor prayer sessions for those who lost their lives as well as those at VT.

Hmmm...

Ben & Jerry...

Bailey's...

add some chocolate, and that's like the grand-slam of food.

How was opening night?!?! I know what you mean...the Thespian Club at my campus were ON EDGE the week before any opening of a new production! The only time us ROTC kids were scared of the actors---and we had access to weapons! :lmao:

Our high school had a moment of silence for Columbine today.. and had several assemblies to talk about violence in high schools.

A guy here commented that April is going to be known for mass murders :sad1: because of all the things that have happened...
April 16 - Virginia Tech
April 17 - Jeff Lundgren, Kirtland Cult
April 19 - Oklahoma City
April 20 - Columbine
April 20 - Adolf Hitler's birthday (attributed as a correlation with Columbine)

A guy on one of my other chatboards is a VT grad and his wife works there:

One of the most recent amateur videos released shows my wife's boss scrambling out of Norris Hall. Her car is also visible (though her car keys were at the time still inside the building).

I don't know if she's seen it, but it's still scary to think about.

I like Ben & Jerry.

Me too - almost as much as I like cake, except in the summer time when I like ice cream better - or better yet, why not combine them and have ice cream cake!

Yes - it's true - I have the Friday afternoon sillies!

Okay! Enough depressing talk....here's something to get your hackles up!
