Good Afternoon, everyone!!! :flower3:

WHEW!! Whirlwind week/weekend!! I hope to have a slower, more relaxed week this week. (Thanks goodness!!:thumbsup2 )

I'm going to try to ketchup. I'll post as I go along.

Inventory last week ended up going pretty well. It was a bit scary at first, because after first counts were finished and entered, we were showing $1.4 MILLION SHORT!!!! :scared1: REALLY REALLY BAD!!!!
But upon further investigation, we found that one of the folks keying the data into the system was doing it incorrectly, and none of his entries stuck. So I was here (along with a team of several others) Friday night until almost 8pm fixing the stuff he messed up. So after all of the goof-ups were fixed, we ended up $9800 over. (which, fortunately, accounts for some of the amount that we were short on last inventory!! :woohoo: ) So overall, we came out looking MUCH better this time than last!! :thumbsup2
OKAY, I'll stop now. I know inventory stories are NOT exactly entertaining...:rotfl:

We're REALLY moving along with the adoption process. We had a bit of a stanstill for a little while, because we've started looking more into possibly adopting a slightly older child (like age 2-4) instead of a newborn. We've discussed (extensively!) that while we would LOVE to have a baby :cloud9: , we just feel like our purpose right now is to give a home to a slightly older child. These are the children who are a little harder to place because everyone wants newborns. :sad1:
We will DEFINITELY look into adopting an infant later on, but for some reason right now we feel really compelled to adopt a slightly older, harder to place child. Our biggest stipulation though is that we DO still want to have a few good Christmases while he/she still believes in Santa!!
I know that may sound a bit self-seving, but I REALLY cannot wait to give a child his/her very first HUGE, no-holds barred, super blow-out Christmas!! I cannot wait to see the look in their eyes when they walk out into a living room full of stuff!! :yay:

Anyhow, so that's where we are right now. Our worker is going to forward a listing to us this week of some of the children now available in our desired age range. Our child is probably out there right now just waiting for us! It feels pretty good to know that we could be giving a child a brand new chance at a good life!! :thumbsup2

OK, REALLY! I'm going to go ketchup now!! :rotfl:

Christal, glad you have the inventory behind you. I get my stores done once per month. It lets the employees know that I am watching them (and the vendors):)

That is great that you are leaning towards an older child. I am sure that means a lot less of a wait for you both. You will love your 1st Christmas and all that come after. I was lucky with DS and had him still believing until 10 I think.

I had to sign off for an hour so - just had a bad thunderstorm come through - freaked out the pets.....and now the board seems awfully slow again...

Christal: :grouphug: that sounds wonderful!!!! :grouphug: I know I have said it before - but I can't wait for the day we are all congratulating you on the new addition to your family. I know what you mean about Christmas!!! - one of the things I was loooking forward to the most was sharing holidays with a child!!!!:)

Glad you made it through the storm Darlene. They can be really bad this time of year.:)

thanks!:) - nothing dangerous - just don't like having the computer on...:)

worst part is all the rain - the ground is so saturated here - I don't know what we are gonna do with all the spring rain!!!

Christal and Jen - just my two cents worth...but how absolutely WONDERFUL that you are looking for a toddler!!! That is such a critical time in a child's life and development. Don't get me wrong, infancy certainly has it's perks, but toddler-hood is when the fun really begins and the personality blooms. Kudos to the both of you!!! Hoping your bundle of joy arrives soon!!! :cloud9:

PS
In regards to Santa...you've got one better. Your sweet child will believe in God and angels because of the both of you!!!

Hi guys! Thought I'd better check in. Had my first day back at work, after Spring Break last week. The kids are still rotten. I think the bread man said we have 59 days left, I think we've got more because of snow days this winter. Doesn't much matter, cuz I'll be working the summer program again this year. That means I'll get about 3 weeks off for the summer, we go back in Aug.

Well, like I said, I picked up the new :moped: on Fri.night, ran around on it Sat. none on Sun. I've put over 60 miles on it. We had rain today, looks like it most of the week  Maybe I'll be able to get on it by Fri. We have a Meet on April Fools Day for lunch, about a 70 mile ride :woohoo: Can hardly wait.

Bye Andrew.

60 miles already Debi! Glad you are enjoying it so much. Hopefully your weather will start cooperating a little more, so you don't have to park it.:)

Well, as long as they make me THINK that they still believe...:rotfl:

AWWWW...thank you so much! That brought tears to my eyes!!

I've been hanging out here avoiding mentioning this since yesterday afternoon and DH may kill me for posting this, but being the boss's wife can be a very helpless and lonely place and I need to weep somewhere.

Our Alaska CG family could use as many prayers as you can muster. I can't/shouldn't go into details, but the situation is very, very sad and DH had the awful task yesterday of being one of the men in dress uniform knocking on the door that every military wife dreads seeing in the bottom of her soul. It is just an awful, terrible, situation & a stark reminder of how dangerous the military can be, even for the men and women who aren't overseas.

If you're in Seattle, check your newspaper.

I am so sorry for your loss... my daughter is in the Air Force.. I feel for you DH and your family...

Christal

I can't wait to meet your child on the cruise. What a lucky child they will be. I commend you and Jen on making the decision for an older child. They are often judged as the left overs that nobody wants. I can tell you will be great parents. Please continue to keep us posted on the progress.

PS - my son is 11 and is still not entirely convinced that Santa isn't real. He can tell that logically there isn't one, but in his heart he still wants to believe, so he does.

WOW! It was a pretty busy weekend here on our little thread! :thumbsup2
I'm almost all ketch-ed-up!!

The cool thing about playing ketchup today though, is that it's rather slow today! :thumbsup2

I will say :goodvibes and :thumbsup2 to all those who are on the mend!!!

Thanks!! :goodvibes

I can remember when I was a kid, thinking maybe there was no Santa, but I didn't want my mom to know. So I just kept "believing" so that I didn't have to ruin it for my mom!

OK, time to head home! See you all later!

I got one more year out of Adam at I think 10. He had kept on and on about he knew Santa wasn't real. We always spend Christmas Eve with DH side of the family and have our Christmas when we wake up. I had my sis come to our house and put all the Santa presents out while we were gone. You should have seen his face when we walked in that night, he was so confused. he thought he had it all figured out. He didn't mention that Santa wasn't real the next year.:)

My prayers go out to the family and all who serve our country. Al;so to you and your family it is never easy to be the bearer of bad news. It never gets any easier. I grew up Navy and my X was Navy so you really have my heart. I did a total of 32 years as a dependent. Lois
