read earlier you guys out ran hurricane Francis??? we were there at the same time and stayed to ride it out!!!! "small world".....!:)

But for the fact that it was younger DS first day of Kindergarten on Tuesday after Labor Day, we would have rode it out. MCO was predicting a Wed or Thurs reopening. We were in SSR, which were built to latest hurricane standards. The crowds the day before .... well put it this way, we went to Dis Studios at opening, did TOT (2x), RnRC, Great Movie Ride, some shopping, one other ride/thing I forget which, then took boat to Epcot, did Test Track, Mission Space, Spaceship Earth and one of the others right in that area and then stopped for a 12:30 lunch....

Crash....oh, dear sweet Captain Crash....

I suddenly realize....

you are one of THOSE parents. :scared1:

Just out of curiosity, if I said, "When do your kids have time to play?" would you answer, "I have that scheduled in at ______"?

Oh...good choice about the piano lessons. Trust me on this.

quiz967outcome1.jpg

So when do the kids have time to play??

Whhhhy.... Every nite the kids "Play" hide and go seek with dear ol' Dad. Plus the dog gets regular joustings and huggin's fer what-ever reasons.

Our kids regularly go "nuts" on the hour. Why, just last nite before I turned in the Little One came over to declare that "Daddy's a napkin" then proceeded to rub her mouth and hands into me ... they were already clean but her conduct was in reaction to an earlier remark I made to her when she did something that amounted to using my shoulder as a napkin.

Otherwise... I am NOT the perfect parent (mock indignant expressions and tone)... YET. As I am still feverishly working on being perfect!!! :scared1:

She had her skating lessons before school and after she did her hw was able to hang out with her friends.Very disciplined. Besides, keeping them busy, keeps them out of trouble!!!

Ohhh skating before school. I bet I did 80% of my jr. high and high school homework at the rink. What amazes me is that I had 2 brothers and we were always moving in 4 different directions, each! (skating, dance team, ski club, girl scouts, boy scouts, basketball, baseball, football, tennis, golf) I'm still not sure how Mom made it work. So far, my kids have hockey, scouts, karate & baseball. DH is musical and would like for them to start an instrument...um, when?

As my Mom always said "It keeps them off the streets." You know the mean streets of upper-middle class suburbia - we were in serious danger.

During the occasional week or so lull in activities, my brother and I would mention to Mom that we were going out to "the streets" when we went out to play.

Not "Axe," but along the same lines, did anyone catch this news a few months back?

http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/09/21/onion.tag/

TOMS RIVER, New Jersey -- A weekend spillage of Tag Body Spray being described as the worst personal fragrance-related natural disaster in the history of the Eastern Seaboard continued to spread along New Jersey's Atlantic shore late Tuesday morning as disaster-management crews worked to contain the slick before it reached international waters.

I LOVE The Onion! :lmao:

Welcome Home! Isn't DVC just taking the DIS insanity to a whole 'nother level?

...

Without a doubt it does ...I have actually been following the DVC DIS board for awhile now , Just so I would have an idea of what I would be getting into ....Being in Nevada its only been a Year and Half that we were actually allowed to buy into DVC unless we were in Flordia in person...But now we have done and glad we did , Just means we get to Vacation more ...LOL ......

Morning Everyone :goodvibes

As Liz said, it's a great day here in Central Florida. At least I sit by the window at work and can enjoy it.

Crash! my son never participated in any sports etc as a child. Wait, we MADE him take swimming lessons at the Y 2x . The first set of lessons, he came out with a dry head each day.( Had to reenroll him and make sure he was soaked at the end of the lesson.).Extremely shy and introverted. Mumbled til he was 5. Didn't want anyone to hear his voice:confused3
Well he confesed to me a few years ago he was very sorry he didn't do any of the things we tried to force on him (picture child clutching the door jamb and screaming ,quite embarrasing)
So, if you are able to get your DDs out and about, go for it. DD was involved in many sports and I found her schoolwork was very organized as a result.
She had her skating lessons before school and after she did her hw was able to hang out with her friends.Very disciplined. Besides, keeping them busy, keeps them out of trouble!!!

Clinging to the doorjab eh'?

Ya kno I CAN imagine how that can be with kids...

Having experienced a little of it as well:confused:

That was me Arlene.....we have been calling our kids Stinky Teens since DD hit 13 four years ago. At first it was because of their stinky-like teen attitude, and then our son turned 13, and well, stinky took on a whole other meaning :rotfl: :rotfl:

Now he smells too much of Axe cologne YUCK!!!

I have to admit - that although I don't have a ST yet - it has entered my vocabulary....and, I have to watch where/how I use it, remembering not everyone understands!!!!!:)

Happy Monday everyone! :wave2:

Todd - welcome back. Glad to here you guys had a wonderful trip. Congrats on the DVC. Are the selling AK now or still just SSR?

She rode in two divisions in the intermediate level.

First was walk trot cantor..... She came in 3rd place out of 10 kids. (She would have been 2nd but one of the advanced riders was put into the lower division for some reason.)

Second division was jumping. .... She came in 5th there...

We're so proud... I remember a couple yrs ago when she first started riding and would jump off if the horse even hit a trot....

poophorse.gif

Congrats to your DD!!! I used to ride and show when I was a kid. But I had to quit after a severe allergic reaction forced me to the ER. My DD just recently started taking lessons and enjoys it. We took a break this winter because I couldn't handle (breathe) being inside, but now that the weather is breaking, back in the saddle again! :)

Tom ran away from Francis... Pans rode it out... and my family and I flew and drove into it!

OK... time for me to go ffor the day as my spouse is gonna take her computer when she goes!

Bye!

Isn't "geek" a bit redundant on a Disney board on the internet with lots of computer and camera talk? I wear my geekness proudly. Its a Canon EOS 30D (DW:love: and FIL went in together and gave me whole setup for my birthday). I (years and years and years ago) used to have a Minolta 35mm and loved what you can do with SLR. Hated going to all in one digital (except for the savings on film developing). Couldn't justify the cost of digital SLR with other priority (kids, home, Disney, etc.) but I guess I was drooling too much so they got it for me. Still playing with it and "re-learning" all the tricks.

My DSs are 7 and 9 now. Same age bracket as your kids.

How long have you been in Anchorage? I went to a conference there 2 years ago, neat little town.

We've been in Anchorage since summer '04 & spent 2 years in Kodiak about 10 years ago, now that is a little town. We love it. We want to retire here (DH's military retirement in 6 years - not real retirement 437 years from now). We've been in AK more of our adult lives than anywhere else.

I thought your DSs look close in age to mine. I think I missed your intoduction when I was on vacation. :wave2: HI!

Don't ya love the digital SLR? I didn't get one until last fall (b-day, anniversary, Christmas present). I've shot SLR only since I was in about 13 and the (cough-choke) affordable digital SLRs just didn't have the quality I wanted until Nikon released the D80. I wanted a Nikon since I've sunk boo-koo bucks into lenses for my film Nikon. Keep playing with the Cannon - that's part of the fun! I'm discovering that between the camera and the editing software I have, I love the control. It is much like the days (before kids!) that I had time to develop and print my own photos - and I can do it from the comfort of my couch! I spent a good chunk of HS & college standing in a darkroom.

Yea, I know, tell me about it.....................:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Angelina brought the rest of the cookies home that were leftover, just what we didn't need in this house, oh boy.................:rolleyes1

Andy do you realize Angelina does probably get a discount working at the mall? I even got discounts at Mcdonalds. She might able to get discounted meals for you and Hazel.:thumbsup2

Well were back .....Had such a great time at DL , and of course meeting with Stacy and her Family just made it that much better ...Have pictures but to exhausted to post at the moment ...and by the way ...We are now DVC members ...

Too many pages to ketchup , so if I missed anything please let me know ...

Happy Birthday to any of those I may have Missed , Welcome Mates to any Newbies that I missed ....Yes , the shirts are still Black and White , I dont think anyone has gotten a room number yet and I have NO clue about the website ..:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

 Presently 78 going up to 82 here in Sunny Central Florida.. no rain at all this week.

 :grouphug: pixiedust: and prayers to everyone who is going to need it today.

:welcome: aboard to all the newbies.

Have a great Monday.

I can actually report presently sunny 68 going up to 70 here outside of Chicago. I hate to report going back down into the forties by Friday.:sad2:

:wave2: all -

Did I miss anything? My ethernet cable box went out and it only took 3 days to figure that one out  Anyway, just clicked on as we're still trying to figure out why this is sllllloooooowwww! Took 15 minutes for the AOL logo to come on - so I resorted to my Sprint card and am on that way while the home computer starts up - what a way to get on DIS huh? :dance3:

Anyway, just had to share -

WE SAW WICKED LAST NIGHT!!!!!!!

IT WAS AWESOME!!!!

Anyway, sorry so long - I'm excited - can you tell? :woohoo: :woohoo:

that IS awesome!!!!!:) sounds like a wonderful evening and great memories!!!!!

that is one show I am really looking forward to seeing - hopefully soon!!!!

I know that feeling of the high after you see a really great show - we finally got to see "Mamma Mia" last fall, we were so blown away we just kept saying "wish we could see that again!". Woke up the next day - DH and I just looked at each other and said "should we, could we?" (cause we had our cruise coming up - expense wise)...well. we made a phone call and off we went for one more show!!!! It was so worth it!!!:)

It is much like the days (before kids!) that I had time to develop and print my own photos

I used to love to develop my own, gave you even more control and cool results!!!

Of course in a few years "film" and "developing" will get the same looks that words like "8-track" and "album" do now....

I don't think I ever did the formal introduction, lurked for a bit then jumped in and .... well, can't stop now...

Tom ran away from Francis... Pans rode it out... and my family and I flew and drove into it!

OK... time for me to go ffor the day as my spouse is gonna take her computer when she goes!

Bye!

Said another way....

I ran from trouble, Pans was in the middle of the trouble and you went looking for trouble???? :rotfl2:

I've been hanging out here avoiding mentioning this since yesterday afternoon and DH may kill me for posting this, but being the boss's wife can be a very helpless and lonely place and I need to weep somewhere.

Our Alaska CG family could use as many prayers as you can muster. I can't/shouldn't go into details, but the situation is very, very sad and DH had the awful task yesterday of being one of the men in dress uniform knocking on the door that every military wife dreads seeing in the bottom of her soul. It is just an awful, terrible, situation & a stark reminder of how dangerous the military can be, even for the men and women who aren't overseas.

If you're in Seattle, check your newspaper.

Happy Monday everyone! :wave2:

:)

They were selling AK but our points wouldnt be active till Sept of 07 ....We bought 2 160 point contracts at SSR cause the deal was great ....Points were active as of Dec 06 ..the reason for the 2 contracts was to split evenly amongst the boys and or if they had no interest with it when they had kids we could sell one contract and keep one for Melissa and I ...But the deal was really really good ...

At least i know i'm not the only one.....

A couple yrs ago we had free tickets to Arabian Knights in Orlando....

We were sat in the way upper row so i thought i would be ok....

WRONG.....

The show kicked up so much dust that for the first time in my life i literally couldn't breathe and i ran out of there after the show.....

Next time we do any of those shows I'm doing the behind glass seating.

DD had first day of school Wednesday (her birthday on Tuesday), we were lucky to get flight out Tues night, but it was insane at the Airport. I do know people with flights out over the weekend had a hard time rebooking - some waited until Thursday. We went back and forth about trying to get out ahead of the storm, but figured it would be too hard and we had just got there Tuesday. We were lucky enough to have decided to splurge on three nights at Poly concierge - I swear it was kismet...so we were there for the lock down, but had the run of the building and lounge. The crowds: Friday we had EPCOT to ourselves despite being the only place open in the evening (besides DTD, I believe)...it was so quiet, it was eerie...

Come to think of it, she did say she gets discounts to some of the stores in the mall, but I don't know which stores they are, that's something we need to look into, thanks for the reminder Cheryl!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
