The following was copied and pasted from my trip journal.

Howdy All,

It’s 4:30am on Saturday morning March 31st and we are in Ashland, Virginia. I’m writing this quick report into my journal and will post it later, since I can’t seem to get connected to the internet at our motel. If you are ever driving on I-95, and stop at exit 92, unless you have no other choice, avoid the Apple Garden Inn. OK, here’s are trip so far.

We left home at 6:10pm last evening and headed south. I had Hazel call MR to see if her family had left. MR stated that they got on the road about 3:30pm, and were already in Maryland, traveling on I-95. I decided since it was later in the day, I would take I-95 as well. We were making good progress until we crossed over from Washington, DC into Virginia. We were about 90 north of Richmond, VA when we hit bumper to bumper traffic. It took us about 90 minutes to travel the next 17 miles, by this time I was kicking myself for not going down 13 like I usually do. The reason for the back up, there was a bad accident about 74 miles north of Richmond that involved at least 5 or 6 cars. We tried calling MR to make sure they were OK, and when we didn’t get an answer on her cell, I was getting a little concerned.

MR called us a little before 11pm to let us know they were near mile marker 45 in Virginia and were looking for a place to stop for the night. At this time, we were only at mile marker 123 and I decided there was no way I was going to make it to meet up with them, so we pulled off I-95 at exit 92 around 11:30pm and I was in bed and asleep by midnight.

So, here I am wide awake, while my two sleeping beauties are snoring away in the bed, next to me. LOL!!!

I’m hoping to make it in to Florida later tonight, but if not, we WILL be there sometime early Sunday.

That’s all for now :goodvibes

Update: Saturday Evening March 31st

Left Ashland, VA at 6:15am after a quick bite of breakfast at McDonald’s then drove through the day arriving in De Land, FL at 7:00pm.

We had a very nice ride today, only hit a few traffic snarls along the way. We stopped and filled our car up at exit 180 in NC at Pilot, gas was 2.58 per gallon. Stopped for lunch in Santee, SC (exit 98), then filled the car up at exit 53 in SC at Citgo for 2.45 a gallon. Gas here in De Land is 2.69 a gallon.

My mom was getting off work just as we were arriving in De Land this evening, so we met her at IHOP for dinner. My mom told us that we are having a Bar-B-Q tomorrow afternoon at my uncle’s place(he lives next door to my mom).

After my mom gets off the phone, I’m going to connect my laptop and post this report., then I will be turning in as I only had 4 hours of sleep last night. It’s is so nice and warm here this evening, shorts and t-s***** are on already, LOL!!! :goodvibes

Lord only knows how far behind I am on this thread……………LOL!!! J

Well...

... a lot of folks seem to be away traveling or just getting caught up witht the everyday things of life... not to mention the beautiful turn of spring-like weather many of us are encountering. But just the same - thanks for the generous remarks.

So for today ... I for one embarked on a 3 easter egg hunt day plus a pot luck. We ended up just doing the first easter egg thing at the Ronald Regan Library all morning and into the early afternoon. Then we took our lunch with the friends we were hangin' with - then did some lite shopping. Then in the early evenin' we canceled out of the pot luck - it was a huge gathering so we would not be missed and the kids were too far gone to attend.

So - things were pretty simple after all today - if not exhausting.

TO Captain Crash.

All I can say re Doctor Who new series.

First one just finished.

WOW

It was good, wasn't it !!!!!:yay:

DANG!

I can't get the official Dr Who BBC site to load! It has a top page macromedia flash loading that keeps crashing the page! I managed to bypass it once to get to the episode line up but THAT page crashes! So I can't find out what the latest episode ran - or get images! All I could do was go back to the sci-fi channel which shows nothing but a few old tid-bits - and nothing new...

DRAT!:headache:

Just back from Office Max, where I bought the Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter with Speed Booster. WPC54GS. I hope this works! :thumbsup2
Now if I could just get someone to install it for me.....:confused3

I bought an antenna for the new desktop we got for the kids - as my notebook is out for fixin' ... and I encountered some minor complication while attempting the install. So - I am nominally in your same condition. My tech pals were not available to help with a tele-consult - so I am somewhat cripled for accessing the web midweek.

Tomorrow we go to the Exposition center near USC - they have a Star Wars exhibit and a bunch of tech-edu-tainment exhibits for the kids. I got a bunch of passes for the exhibit and a Falcon ride for doin' a Bose factory store demo today....

At any rate... I'm gonna step out to run a few errands now. Be back late nite to resume my ketchup exercises.... :surfweb:

Tom
Maybe we should come up with a list of what is required and send it to these local establishments. They may not be stocked up for the rush that might persue stocking up for MR blender party. :rotfl2:

I bought a couple of sodas at the gift shop at the Disneyland Hotel and the cashier remarked about me "breaking down" and paying the $2.75 a bottle. I lamented that not only was it expensive, but it was Coke rather than my beloved Pepsi. She told me that if I gave her my Mickey Wish Pearl necklace (available only on the cruise line) then she'd tell me where the nearest store was to buy Pepsi at a "human" price. If I had seen this map before I left, I would have seen that Wonderland Liquor was only a short walk from the hotel. :worried:

If you were a little closer I'd come on over and install it for you but it should be very easy to do. Put the cd with the program in the computer, install the software and then insert the card. :wizard:

Thanks for the offer! I read the instructions, and will try installing it tomorrow. It does seem fairly simple. I hope.
DH was questioning my need to even take the lap top to Turks and Caicos. I told him that it was the easiest way to stay in touch. With my DIS friends. Shhhh.

EDITED 2ND APRIL APRIL FOOL JOKE

Received this e-mail from DCL this morning concerning the Panama crossing.

Thank you for booking a vacation with Disney cruise line, we have some important information concerning the Panama crossing 15 night cruise on August 17th, 2008.

Since your last vacation and our last transit of Panama, we have added a number of new features to the Disney Magic, including the Dumbarton an on deck LED videoscreen wall at the Goofy pool to show late night movies and an enhanced Vista Spa and salon area.

When adding these features to the cruise ship for everyone’s extra enjoyment, it also added weight to the overall ship. This has affected our buoyancy ratio, it is not any problem in normal sea operations, however in freshwater we have identified a problem, as the buoyancy is far less than in sea water.

The Panama crossing is in freshwater and therefore there is a small possibility if the ship is fully occupied and with the additional features as mentioned above the Panama authorities have told us the ship might not rise in the locks.

I am sure you would not wish the ship to travel in any circumstance where safety is compromised, Maritime law dictates we must make provision, so we will have to make some additional conditions of carriage on the Panama crossings, as follows:-

Luggage. Must be restricted to one bag per person.

Any souvenirs purchased in Acapulco should be shipped home, not taken onboard.

Food, the ship will be loaded in Los Angeles with sufficient food upto the Panama Canal and reloaded in Cartagena food will be restricted on the day of the crossing, to add extra buoyancy, and will consist of Salads and light snacks only all day.

We further ask all cruisers who are over 12 stone to either diet before the cruise or work out in the gym each day before the crossing to ensure the safety of the ship. Servers will restrict desserts to one per person until after the crossing.

The Captain reserves the right to ask large cruisers at the first lock of the panama canal to either get off and catch the train to the other end, or when the ship is in the lock to ‘jump’’ upwards when the bridge makes an announcement, ship to assist its levitation.

We hope these restrictions do not effect your enjoyment of this cruise and look forward to sailing with you! Have a Magical Day!
