Our readers report that Disney Cruise Line is testing new post-cruise airline check-in and baggage handling procedures in Port Canaveral. Guests returning from recent voyages report that if they were flying after noon on participating airlines, they could have their airline boarding passes prepared on board and delivered to their staterooms, and that after their luggage was collected on board the ship they didn’t see it again until their flight was over. Previously, passengers had to claim their luggage in the cruise line terminal and deliver it to an airline check-in station in the bus loading area. When asked for confirmation of these reports, a Disney Cruise Line spokesperson emphasized that this is a test. All aspects of the program are subject to change, and the program may not continue beyond the test period. Additional information was not available

We had this service on our NCL cruise last summer and I have to say it was really great. I think we paid $15 per person, but it was so worth it. We supplied them with our flight information and the day before we disembarked we got the special tags to put on our luggage. Then we just put it out that night as we always have and the next time we had to deal with it was when we landed at LAX. It was such a pleasure just to walk off the ship and catch our transfer to the airport without having to haul our luggage. I would love it if DCL offers that service next summer for the TOAL since we'll be flying home.

The ST's have had a fun day and I hope that they go to bed early!! :cloud9:

A busy last day tomorrow and we'll get home late. So maybe I ketchup tomorrow night
:surfweb:

OK, it's 10:40pm and my bed is calling me, good night all

Howdy All,

It’s 4:30am on Saturday morning March 31st and we are in Ashland, Virginia. I’m writing this quick report into my journal and will post it later, since I can’t seem to get connected to the internet at our motel. If you are ever driving on I-95, and stop at exit 92, unless you have no other choice, avoid the Apple Garden Inn. OK, here’s are trip so far.

We left home at 6:10pm last evening and headed south. I had Hazel call MR to see if her family had left. MR stated that they got on the road about 3:30pm, and were already in Maryland, traveling on I-95. I decided since it was later in the day, I would take I-95 as well. We were making good progress until we crossed over from Washington, DC into Virginia. We were about 90 north of Richmond, VA when we hit bumper to bumper traffic. It took us about 90 minutes to travel the next 17 miles, by this time I was kicking myself for not going down 13 like I usually do. The reason for the back up, there was a bad accident about 74 miles north of Richmond that involved at least 5 or 6 cars. We tried calling MR to make sure they were OK, and when we didn’t get an answer on her cell, I was getting a little concerned.

MR called us a little before 11pm to let us know they were near mile marker 45 in Virginia and were looking for a place to stop for the night. At this time, we were only at mile marker 123 and I decided there was no way I was going to make it to meet up with them, so we pulled off I-95 at exit 92 around 11:30pm and I was in bed and asleep by midnight.

So, here I am wide awake, while my two sleeping beauties are snoring away in the bed, next to me. LOL!!!

I’m hoping to make it in to Florida later tonight, but if not, we WILL be there sometime early Sunday.

That’s all for now :goodvibes

Update: Saturday Evening March 31st

Left Ashland, VA at 6:15am after a quick bite of breakfast at McDonald’s then drove through the day arriving in De Land, FL at 7:00pm.

We had a very nice ride today, only hit a few traffic snarls along the way. We stopped and filled our car up at exit 180 in NC at Pilot, gas was 2.58 per gallon. Stopped for lunch in Santee, SC (exit 98), then filled the car up at exit 53 in SC at Citgo for 2.45 a gallon. Gas here in De Land is 2.69 a gallon.

My mom was getting off work just as we were arriving in De Land this evening, so we met her at IHOP for dinner. My mom told us that we are having a Bar-B-Q tomorrow afternoon at my uncle’s place(he lives next door to my mom).

After my mom gets off the phone, I’m going to connect my laptop and post this report., then I will be turning in as I only had 4 hours of sleep last night. It’s is so nice and warm here this evening, shorts and t-s***** are on already, LOL!!! :goodvibes

Lord only knows how far behind I am on this thread……………LOL!!! J

Thanks Diane for all your help!!! :goodvibes

Glad to hear you made it to FL safe and sound Andy! The one time we drove to WDW we left here at 5 in the morning and stayed overnight in Santee, SC. Maybe the next time we go I'll give in to DH and drive down and we can stay there again.

Thanks for checking in, Andy! Glad to hear that you made it safely to FL. Relax and have a wonderful week! :goodvibes

Good night all! I need to get some sleep tonight. :)

From what I've read, they're referring to the interior. I think the port city of Cartegena is safe. There was just an extensive article in Caribbean Travel and Life about Cartegena, and they only advise the same cautions that you'd take in any large American city, or any other port.
I just don't plan on wandering outside the city limits unless on a ship's excursion.

Hey....picture a group of DISers dressed in their black & white pirate t-****s roaming the streets of Cartegena. :lmao:

If you were a little closer I'd come on over and install it for you but it should be very easy to do. Put the cd with the program in the computer, install the software and then insert the card. :wizard:

I will just say good luck. :) Hope that you have an easier time of doing that than I did uploading to DS's Ipod shuffle today. I think that I worked on it for at least three hours. I couldn't remember how to save the file to the Itunes library. OY! It took PJ & I a couple hours to figure it out a month ago when I uploaded my IPOD. Of course after taking care of DS's....I updated mine with all the new songs that I had ripped from my favorite CDs. :goodvibes It was very easy to put different songs on each one.
