Hi everyone. Just getting caught up from my day off in Santa Barbara yesterday. It was a beautiful day and lots of fun with one big exception. A large glass canister got knocked over at the candy store we had stopped at. Next thing I know my DD is screaming and her toe is bleeding all over the place. A shard of glass must have grazed her toe and left a pretty nasty cut. At first I was worried she might need stitches, but thank goodness DH is the calm one. He scooped her up and we took her back to the car and applied direct pressure until it stopped bleeding and then we bandaged it up really well. Fortunately we had tennies in the car as well so we were able to put socks and shoes on her and save the rest of the day. I did let her stay home from school today so she can stay off of it and give it more of a chance to heal. I don't handle these situations so well, can't stand to see my babies hurt. To cap it it all off, a lady standing outside the store made a rude remark to my DH as he was carrying my screaming DD out. I think she thought she was throwing a tantrum over not getting candy. Suffice it to say my DH's response was not too nice and once she saw the blood dripping off DD's foot, I think she felt very bad and embarrassed about being so snotty. Just goes to show that you can never jump to conclusions.

 Glad she didn't get hurt badly.

:surfweb: Hello everybody!

I've been  with the flu since Friday...haven't even thought about touching the computer. But, I'm on the mend and yes, I've resorted to reading the summaries.:scared1: I know, taking the easy way out...:rotfl:

Looks like spring might actually be approaching...going to 52* here today and up to the 60s Wednesday and Thursday.

Happy Birthday Patty

Hope you're feeling better, Karen!

I'm studying for a job interview.
I have a phone interview this morning. Wish me luck!

What is sort of nice is that it is a job I'm interested in, but it is not the job of my dreams, so I'm not really nervous. It is a practice interview!

I hate the whole job hunt, but I'm not discouraged yet. I've only sent out about 20 resumes and I've had three 'nibbles' (phone calls or real e-mails back)

Of course I also have an e-mail folder of "Thank you for your interest, if we don't think you are a total loser, we'll contact you later, if we do think you are a total loser, we will eventually stop laughing at your resume long enough to wish you luck with your future career endeavors."

Good luck!:woohoo: :yay: :cheer2:

I don't think we'll be hitting Senor Frogs again. This is a picture from last time. It was fun but now I can say I did it once, I don't think we need to do it again!

Notice my DS is the only one not sporting a balloon hat. He's way too cool!:cool2:

Nice pic! Looked like you had fun:)

Good luck with the smoke from the fires . . . I'm glad you had a few hours at the beach this weekend. I would be jealous of your beach time except that I will be on beaches at Grand Cayman, Xcaret, and Castaway Cay in two weeks . . .

Now I'm jealous.

Yesterday the smoke wasn't too bad. The beach was completely clear and gorgeous. Today, we will have ash on the cars in Irvine (work) and possibly Mission Viejo/Lake Forest (home).

Well...

... the board should go down any minute now and as I often do ... here are the individual tallies for our thread as of today.

And our visitor tally now stands at an amazing 414,493 hits as of midnight California time!

Crash, thanks for posting these every now and then -- I see that I've cracked the top 30! It's nice to surprise one's self every now and then. Now I just have the pressure of not falling back down the posting list :scared:

It was also nice to see mio buon amico Fabrizio on the posting list, too . . .

That's too bad, Mary! Hope she's feeling OK today.

 Glad she didn't get hurt badly.

Thanks, she is doing better. She just freaks out a little whenever I need to change the bandage. She doesn't want to look at it. This girl will never be a nurse or doctor that's for sure!

Nice pic! Looked like you had fun:)

It was lots of fun! We went for luch so there were quite a few families. It's probably not a place I'd take kids in the evening. Way too wild and party oriented from what I hear. Especially during spring break.

BIP -- Shelley -- if you are checking in, post and let us know how you are doing . . . I've been thinking about you.

HI All, just a drive by posting to let you know I haven't fallen off the face of the earth but I've been really sick. Started last evening and continued all night into the early hours this morning. I still haven't had anything solid to eat and the liquids are going through me.

Anyway, I won't be around anymore today and I'm pretty far behind so I will probably rely on the summaries to get me through.

TTFN

Lorri so sorry to hear you've been ill. Take care and feel better soon!

Wow, Lorri -- sorry to hear about this . . . seems like something is definitely going around. (And always better a drive-by posting than a drive-by shooting, I say . . .) Take care of yourself!

Well I am supposed to be working from home today. Not sure that my DISing would qualify as work, althoug being a PR person I could probably come up with a plausible explanation as to why it should. :rotfl:

I better get back to my real work! I'll catch you all later!

Sorry to hear about DD, that gets kind of scary you have blood and kids. Hope that she has a fast recovery. Must have been a beautiful day in Santa Barbara yesterday. We have not been up there in awhile. Maybe over spring break we will make up there and visit the zoo and lunch at Brophys.

I see there is a group interested in ziplining in PV. It sounds fun, but I think my DD is too young. We are thinking of the Pirate adventure on the Marigalante or the excursion to Las Caletas. I would be happy to help coordinate a group excursion for one of these if there is interest.

Nice photo! My youngest DD also is to young for the zipline thing and also going through a height thing (she won't even ride dumbo). We were looking at the Pirate adventure as well. We would love to do this!! Maybe when the new website is up today :rotfl2: we can have a sign-up list.

Thanks for your response! :thumbsup2
I actually do very much enjoy spending time with everyone's kids...
and I never had any problem with it until recently. With all of the preperations for the adoption, we've been very busy. We've expressed this to all of our friends and family, and apologized if we seem to be ignoring anyone.
But the past few times we've been asked to babysit, we say no, and that we're sorry but we have too much stuff going on. And instead of saying, "Hey, we understand...you've got a lot on your plate.", we feel like we're getting the cold shoulder. I don't know, it could just be me. I might just be overly sensitive. And I will whole-heartedly admit that we've been a bit selfish with our time and energy lately because we simply want to focus on our family and what's happening with us. I know that sounds horrible, but I just feel like this is "our time", and some of our friends and family don't seem to understand...and maybe they shouldn't. Maybe we're totally wrong to be selfish.

Well, if they are giving you the cold shoulder....that isn't not very nice. It is your right to say "no". But I am overly sensitive, as you are....sometimes I read too much into things.

You and Jen do have a lot going on, and have every reason to be selfish with your time. Afterall, you will have very little time to yourselves very shortly.:goodvibes
