Morning all (yep, still morning - been busy).

I will be popping back every so often to see what's going on. Got a lot of things happening at work, so I'll be busy today.

At least it was short reading from last night.

:surfweb: Hello everybody!

I've been  with the flu since Friday...haven't even thought about touching the computer. But, I'm on the mend and yes, I've resorted to reading the summaries.:scared1: I know, taking the easy way out...:rotfl:

Looks like spring might actually be approaching...going to 52* here today and up to the 60s Wednesday and Thursday.

Glad you're starting to feel better! :thumbsup2

It's beginning to feel awfully spring-like here too! :cool1:
We'll be in the 50's today too! :woohoo:

I'm studying for a job interview.
I have a phone interview this morning. Wish me luck!

What is sort of nice is that it is a job I'm interested in, but it is not the job of my dreams, so I'm not really nervous. It is a practice interview!

I hate the whole job hunt, but I'm not discouraged yet. I've only sent out about 20 resumes and I've had three 'nibbles' (phone calls or real e-mails back)

Of course I also have an e-mail folder of "Thank you for your interest, if we don't think you are a total loser, we'll contact you later, if we do think you are a total loser, we will eventually stop laughing at your resume long enough to wish you luck with your future career endeavors."

Sorry to hear that you got that nasty bug, hope that you recovery is speedy.

Those are hilarious, Crash!!! :lmao:

Yeah...

... I was googling an' fishin' for a nice "job hunting" image when I stumbled across this LIST. So fer a change I did a list instead of an image. I was laughing out loud when my spouse ducks around the corner and asks "what's going on?"... I just pointed and she started chuckling too.

Do you suppose this was REAL? Well... if there's one thing I've come to accept... it something is a ONE in a MILLION thing... then everyday that thing probably happens in the USA with 300 million people among us!

Now I really should be moving along as I have to get the kids ready for school so I can get to the new mailbox and then sit down to seeing what kind of business came in over the weekend. :surfweb:

When we were fresh out of college I felt like dh and I could have wallpapered a room with "We think you're a loser" letters...

Best of Luck today with your practice interview...

When my spouse interviews she used to pick up and get "refreshed" with a book called "Knock 'em Dead". You should find a copy at your local library. Of course, you should consider reading the "knock 'em Dead for HR staff" version too.... <chuckles .... there's NST> Seriously, there are some nice "pat" responses for tough interview questions and tips for resumes. And seriously... any HR mill would have their staff read this book too. But better to be prepared then not, eh?:confused3

Now I must go... TTFN!

Good Morning all!

Took the weekend off and I will have some major ketchup to do! I'm not crazy about DST. It was too dark this morning. And I too am happy with AR out come. Now if only Charla and her annoying cousin would get eliminated. They drive me nuts.

Hope everyone is warm and happy birthday!:cake:

We had a beautiful weekend and it's warm today! Woo Hoo!

That's who I wish were gone.

Anaheim Hills is located at the top right of this image. I live in Westlake Village which is generally about 8-10" off to the upper left

Anaheim Hills is a good 100+ miles south of us. I know folks in the area and it sounds really bad that they actually LOST 2 homes and evacuated 500 homes. In my area they evacuated a couple dozen homes right down the street from me - but no homes or lives were lost. IF we had high winds then I imagine we could easily have lost a few homes and would have had a lot more homes evacuated. Several years ago we lost entire neighborhoods ... several dozen homes at a time to fire storms during super high winds called Santga Ana COnditions ... if I am correct.

Just the same - thank you kindly for your caring thoughts and concerns. Here is an image of the fire that was just behind our home a few weeks ago. The hand drawn outline is that of our home in the foreground below.

iEC445A5A-AFDD-4B99-9A1B-E1C471E9621F.jpg

They had fire fighting helicopters dropping water from near by WestLake right on the flames here to save our homes from the fire. Really daring stuff to witness in person if you ask me. Really dangerous stuff at night as low as they were coming in. At this point we are relativly safe from brush fires because there is nothing left to burn in our neighborhood except the houses themselves. And that should not rage out of control even i high winds... but the surrounding open space presents a ripe field where fires can spread widely and threaten a large area at once.

I remember your play by play during the fire Crash. We were scared for you.

Don't we have some other folks that are closer to DL though? I thought someone's tag was 20 miles from the original or something like that. I just don't know what direction they were.

Hopefully the rest of our west coasters will check in soon.

OK, I have a question that's off-topic...(well, if there is such a thing as "off-topic for this thread...LOL)

But here goes. I would like to know how many of you take advantage of friends and relatives for free babysitting EVERY time you go out and need a sitter. I only ask because it seems that EVERYONE we know has kids. All of our close relatives (brothers, sisters) and all of our friends have children. And we have none (at least for the time being, hopefully we will soon!)
So I feel like we are the "go-to" folks whenever our friends and relatives need a babysitter. And it's always free. It's not like I would ever expect any of them to pay, but no one has ever even offered to pay. And don't get me wrong. I don't fault anyone for seeking out free child care once in a while. But it seems like every weekend we are being hit up by someone for free babysitting. I just recently started feeling a little bitter...And I feel bad for feeling bitter about it all. But I am. I guess maybe I'm tired of watching other people's kids, and I want one of my own!! If I'm going to take care of kids with no pay, I'd like to at least get to claim them on my taxes!! :lmao:
(that tax thing is just a joke, in case some state worker is reading this...LOL)
