We have been blessed with four GC and two of them are "extra" special. 12 years ago our eldest DD was diagnosed with cervical cancer which has been cured thanks to God and Sloane-Kettering cancer center in NYC. A few years later she married and they wanted children. With invitro fertilization of her ovum and her husbands sperm an embrio was produced that was implanted in my wife. 9 months later we were blessed with Matthew. Two years later the same procedure gave our family Mikayla Rose. They are very special to our DD and SIL and of course to their grandmother who carried them. We love all our GC but these are a special gift. My DD is cancer free for 12 years and the more I think about it the more i see that we are blessed.

That is a WONDERFUL story!!! What a fantastic gift!! For everyone involved! ::yes::

Well all...I am asking for another prayer from you this weekend. My best friend in the World has been battling cancer for a year now. Last May..she thought she has a bladder infection and it turned out to be kidney cancer. They removed the kidney and all was well...in October they noticed spots on her lungs so they biopsied..unfortunately, it came back cancer of the lung and lymph nodes. She has been in chemo for 6 months and finished her treatment last week ..she just had a pet scan and cat scan in hopes that the chemo worked. Unfortunately, it doesn't seemed to have shrunk the cancer at all .. she is scheduled for surgery on Monday to do more biopsies from 2 locations to see what they can do. I am heartbroken for her and her family. She has 2 daughters. Please keep her in yor prayers this weekend that the Doctors are able to find the treatment that works for her. I appreciate it!

 Prayers said. That is heart breaking!

I have posted the 4 tours over on the planning thread. I put each one in its own topic. If you would just make a post on the tour you are interested in--that would be great. We were unable to get something that worked with Baru and then the city.

Paula, Thanks for organizing this!!

I noticed several of the tours are visiting Plaza de Bolivar. Do you know how close we will be to la plaza de la Aduana with the statue of Christopher Columbus? I think it's close to the Naval Museum. The reason for asking is that's where the Hard Rock Cafe is located. Just wanted to know if we would have time to pick up a quick souvenir pin.

Thanks!

Okay guys - I need prayers - quick!

My neice Emma, 11, has Cystic Fibrosis (we've known since she was 3 wks). She has been very healthy until today! My mom and sister and bil are on their way to the er from the dr's office. It's her heart! OMG. Thanks

Now they think it is pnemonia with sepsis! Oh dear! I know you all are our new friends and will pray for us.

Thanks to all for the prayers and thoughts. June just called me on her way home from the hospital. Fortunately, they caught it early and she just needs rest, fluids and salt tablets (CF patients need lots of extra salt). She was already on antibiotics so she can continue those. I'm sure June can share more when she gets back tonight, but again, thanks for the kind thoughts. As June said, Emma fainting today allowed us to dodge a big bullet this time!!

Well......

The alarm woke us up at 3am (PDT), caught the 6:40am flight to Atlanta, and then the 3:30pm to Columbia. I'm now in my father in law's place on Lake Murray.

For the TOAL, I wanted to do a time lapse movie of the transit, so I bought a new Canon P/S which has this facility built in. I tried it out on the 30 min flight from ATL to CAE. Here's the result: Atlanta to Columbia in 2mins 25 seconds.

I'm so glad to hear that they caught the infection early! We'll keep her in our prayers.

Travel Annoyance For the Day:

So...
I'm going to be stuck paying double the price for a second bag for our return trip. I can't really check in online via my crackberry since I don't have the ability to print boarding passes. We're spending the day at WDW after we get off the boat since our flight isn't until 8-ish. So I thought, I'll find a public library between WDW and the airport...then I remembered. It's Labor Day. How annoying.

I've never been brand loyal to an airline. I always go for price, but I am seriously considering sticking with Southest and their "No Surprise Fees" from now on.

M,
If you bought your tickets before April 22nd, you shouldn't have to pay for the 2nd checked bag. I emailed customer service at airtran and that was the response I got.

Correction: Panama-Canal Record story
2008-06-12 22:58:37 -

Panama (AP) - In a June 10 story about a canal fee, The Associated Press, relying on a statement from the Panama Canal Authority, erroneously reported that the Disney Cruise Line paid a record US$331,200 for one of its ships to pass through the canal. The authority now says it wrongly estimated the fees and that Disney paid US$283,400 for «Disney Magic» to cross on May 16, an amount that was not a record.

alalapapa 1 cabin 2 people
carapooh 1 cabin 2 people
Just an FYI!! You do realize that alanapapa and I are husband and wife right? We are in the same cabin!

Sydney was 4lbs, 1.8oz when she was born. She also was 18.5" when she was born but the next day was 17.5" :confused3 She spent 3mo in the NICU while we argued with the neonatologists about her....
Add DD9m Kathryn to the preemie list! She was 8 weeks early due to my preeclampsia and placental abruption and was 4 lbs 6 oz. Spent 19 days in the NICU and came home on Alana's 5th birthday! You'd never know it looking at her today! She was 2nd or 3rd tallest in her class and weighs 82 lbs, I believe.

Thats good news that he is home and all is well.

Update on my FIL - he has decided he will not live the rest of his life with a feeding tube so now its just a matter of time before he ends up on the hospital with an infection, he really can't swallow well at all. He is on a soft food diet and apparently they may try some sort of stimulation to his throat to see if they can get it to work again for him. Thanks for all the prayers everyone!!
 such a hard decision to make. I'll be keeping you all in my prayers.

When they hit sixteen take away the car keys. Losing freedom is a fate worse than death for a teen ager. :rotfl:
I've found taking away DD14's cell phone is a fate worse than death to her. As I told her today, the phone is a privilege, not a right. You do something wrong and you lose that privilege.

Andy
very cool!

hehehe... That is what hurt us so much for our planned fall trip - DLParis and drive around Germany... We decided against it for 2 reasons - 1. the inlaws backed out and 2. the horrible exchange rate (at least from our end!). That's how we spontaneously decided on the PC Cruise! Maybe we can do the trip next fall instead for our 2009 TOAL :lmao: Course by then we'll be paying for a third airfare since DD will be 2...
Yes our Euro rate is really bad and DLP cost myself a lot more than I planned, I have been paying off my DCL cruises well in advance due to the $ being about $2 to the £, but recently its fallen to $1.90 to the £, not sure if this is a blip or a trend, so I just didnt want to take any risk so paid 2009 off,
That's good to hear. I grew up next to Disneyland, which in some ways is good (we went at least once a year), but in one way bad - there was no possible excuse to stay at the Disneyland Hotel. So it was always a childhood dream to stay there. We finally did it on a family vacation a couple of years back. It's a great hotel for families - what with the sofachair and room for a rollaway, we had 4 beds in the room so everyone was comfortable. I'd stay there again without hesitation, but like you - I wanted a change.

The big factor for me is actually the pools this time. I gather Paradise Pier just has a smaller rooftop pool, whereas GC has 2 or 3 nice pools. On a hot crowded summer day, I'm as likely to be there as in the parks.

GCH is very very nice, yes 2 large one small pools, back entrance to Disneys California park, a large lobby, and the monorail gfoing through it! Very nice rooms we had a monorail view last time.

they all include the fortress from what I have seen ....Please help :worried: :worried:

pirate:

They all include the fortress as a photo stop but only tour #4 includes entry to it. I've not looked through them all properly just yet but that is the one we are leaning towards too.
