I am thinking the same thing Kristina. Most of the stops aren't that long which would be better for the kids. I think 30mins of shopping would be just fine. And I really want to go up to La Popa Monastery.

This one's sounding good to me too Roger. Have to see what Kevin thinks. We're not real shopping nuts, not interested in the jewelry stores and such.

Any Philadelphia area pirates interested in a Mini-Meet?

I know it's short notice, but if anybody is available, we'd like to have you over for an afternoon cookout/pool party on Saturday, June 28th. If you're interested, send me a PM and let me know.

Well heard the sonic booms so the shuttle has passed over and landing. DD is out at Cocoa. Hope she sees it.

So all this airline talk. DH and I wonder if the non US airlines are having troubles like the US airlines? All we hear in the news nowadays is what our airlines are cutting back on now. They've all paid more for gas for a very long time and it doesn't seem to affect them. Though I did see that Qantas has cut back on the free checked suitcases from 2 to 1 now...

Our checked luggage policies have changed a bit as well .. but not as drastic as in the states. For Westjet you can check 2 bags at 27 kgs or approx 60 lbs on a domestic flight, and you pay $75 for each extra item. For overweight or oversize items, you pay $40 per item. Air Canada gets a little more complicated, as it depends on what level ticket you have (i.e. how much you are willing to spend :)) The cheapest level (Air Tango or Using points only allows 1 bag at 23 kgs (50 lbs), the economy allows 2 bags at 23 kg (50 lbs), whereas the Super Elite  allows you 4 bags at 32 kgs or 70 lbs. It is $50 for every extra bag and $80 for oversize bags.

I don't really look at this too much, as I always drive to Buffalo when flying to the States, as it saves about $300 in taxes. My flights for this trip are costing me about $800 and would have cost around $1200 if I flew out of Toronto.

Is this really true that you City Hall will print boarding passes? I thought they could only do this with their 'partner' airlines? We asked our hotel's Concierge one time to check us into our SW flight and nope they couldn't.

Just last September, I printed our boarding passes at City Hall in MK. We were at the MNSSHP and it rained all night. I think they were just happy that someone wasn't blaming them for the rain and demanding their money back. :rotfl: I have also printed my boarding passes at Pop Century and at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and at Epcot. I don't know if I was just lucky or not.

Happy Saturday!

A reminder you still have time to order your pirate wristbands! I will take orders through 6 pm tomorrow! Ordering Monday. Remeber who whoever falls behind gets left behind! Pirate Code pirate:

Orders for Wristbands Are Now Open
and will close on Sunday, June 15th.

Basic Information.
Wristband will be available for .55 cents each. This is based on ordering 500. We have a head count close to 400, so extra will be ordered to get to 500. Who knows we may go beyond that!

Text on the wristband will read DCL 2008 PANAMA CANAL and have a small skull & crossbones on the left side of the text. (This was the winning text in the poll)

SizesWristbands come in 3 sizes:
L = 8 inches
M = 7.5 inches
S= 7 inches
To get an idea of the size you can cut a strip of paper to the above measurements and try it around your wrist. This will give you an idea of how it will fit once on your wrist. Remember the wristband will stretch to go over the wide part of your hand, but the paper strip won’t!

Colors
Choices are Red/Black or Lime Green (For the DIS fans, sorry Todd!)
You can mix and match sizes and colors. Just state the quantity of each size and colored desired.

Delivery
If you want your order delivered before the cruise I can mail them out to you. Up to 4 wristbands can be mailed in a business size envelope for 1st class postage. ( I will have to figure out postage on larger amounts)
Or I can deliver them on the ship or DL resort area pre-cruise.

Payment
If you would like your wristbands delivered on the ship we can settle up than. If you would like them mailed to you pre-cruise a check will work.

So please go to ORDER WRISTBANDS to order yer wristbands!

If I have forgotten anything, let me know!

Happy Saturday!

Thanks everyone for the kind words, and yes, we are extremely proud of our sweet princess:

Hi Andy! Thanks for sharing the pictures:goodvibes

Well......

The alarm woke us up at 3am (PDT), caught the 6:40am flight to Atlanta, and then the 3:30pm to Columbia. I'm now in my father in law's place on Lake Murray.

For the TOAL, I wanted to do a time lapse movie of the transit, so I bought a new Canon P/S which has this facility built in. I tried it out on the 30 min flight from ATL to CAE. Here's the result: Atlanta to Columbia in 2mins 25 seconds.

Andy, that was cool! I want a copy of our pc transit:goodvibes

Okay guys - I need prayers - quick!

My neice Emma, 11, has Cystic Fibrosis (we've known since she was 3 wks). She has been very healthy until today! My mom and sister and bil are on their way to the er from the dr's office. It's her heart! OMG. Thanks

Glad it turned out OK. I have an 11 yo DD so I said a prayer quick.

We have been blessed with four GC and two of them are "extra" special. 12 years ago our eldest DD was diagnosed with cervical cancer which has been cured thanks to God and Sloane-Kettering cancer center in NYC. A few years later she married and they wanted children. With invitro fertilization of her ovum and her husbands sperm an embrio was produced that was implanted in my wife. 9 months later we were blessed with Matthew. Two years later the same procedure gave our family Mikayla Rose. They are very special to our DD and SIL and of course to their grandmother who carried them. We love all our GC but these are a special gift. My DD is cancer free for 12 years and the more I think about it the more i see that we are blessed.

What a GREAT story! You were a special blessing to them.

Well all...I am asking for another prayer from you this weekend. My best friend in the World has been battling cancer for a year now. Last May..she thought she has a bladder infection and it turned out to be kidney cancer. They removed the kidney and all was well...in October they noticed spots on her lungs so they biopsied..unfortunately, it came back cancer of the lung and lymph nodes. She has been in chemo for 6 months and finished her treatment last week ..she just had a pet scan and cat scan in hopes that the chemo worked. Unfortunately, it doesn't seemed to have shrunk the cancer at all .. she is scheduled for surgery on Monday to do more biopsies from 2 locations to see what they can do. I am heartbroken for her and her family. She has 2 daughters. Please keep her in yor prayers this weekend that the Doctors are able to find the treatment that works for her. I appreciate it!

Very sad. My Dad had kidney cancer last year. They were lucky it was found early and the removal of his kidney was all it took. He has had multiple scans etc and so far so good.
I will be including your friend and you in my prayers.

Good Day and Happy Flag Day
Mickey%20Mouse%20and%20Flag.gif

Thanks for the reminder Andy. I will quickly go put my flag out. :thumbsup2

Happy Saturday!

Just an FYI. Me and Mae West have big bone structure (I wear an 8/12 to 9 ring finger) and I am only measuring 7 inches. I am buying a large for myself but someone of you on the fence might want to pull out the ole tape measure.

On that note, I apologize in advance if I appear tackily clad on embarktion day. I am either going to be wearing a pirate shirt way too small or too big. I was really confused on the sizes.

Happy Saturday everyone! I am off to take DD's and a neighbor girl to McD to get Kung Fu Panda toys. (maybe I am the one who needs prayers) ;)

I'm kinda an architecture nerd...so this trip looked good to me..

Well heard the sonic booms so the shuttle has passed over and landing. DD is out at Cocoa. Hope she sees it.

:worship: Thanks for the update Arlene...I can breathe now...

During my workout i just kept hearing that news report from this morning about stuff falling off the wing or tail and kept having this nagging feeling (which thank god was wrong this time.)

A reminder you still have time to order your pirate wristbands! I will take orders through 6 pm tomorrow! Ordering Monday. Remeber who whoever falls behind gets left behind! Pirate Code pirate:

OK ok have to measure dh when he gets home....

Hey Coral, it's not so much the wrist size as what size will fit over your hand.

Guys usually have larger hands and while the wrist part may work...it has to make it to the wrist first...

That make sense..

OK i'm sweltering... off for a quick shower and then out to the pool for some base tan before the storm this afternoon.

I don't know why but this cracked me up. ;)
I never wear *regular* t-shirts so, I bought 17dd & I women's tank tops -- I'll have an overshirt over it! I asked her if it was ok if I bought the same thing as her...she told me it was fine since she wasn't planning on standing by me anyway! :lmao: :lmao:
DH will be the one NOT wearing a Pirate shirt. There was no way he wanted to match us --- we've never worn even slightly matchng outfits. I think he'll be sorry once he gets to the Port..........

:rotfl2: I don't think I have ever previewed a post so many times in my life:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Paula, Thanks for organizing this!!

I noticed several of the tours are visiting Plaza de Bolivar. Do you know how close we will be to la plaza de la Aduana with the statue of Christopher Columbus? I think it's close to the Naval Museum. The reason for asking is that's where the Hard Rock Cafe is located. Just wanted to know if we would have time to pick up a quick souvenir pin.

Thanks!
Christopher, I can't tell you at the moment. I will try to find an answer out for you though.:)

I'm stuck. I want to go in the fortress, but I also want to go in the Palace of Inquisition. No tour goes into both.

Paula thanks for all the hard work. I was leaning towards #3 but I see it doesn't include a trip to his shopping mall????

The ones that say better shopping are where the emeralds are. But there are also other stores there for shopping--coffee and leathergoods stick out in my mind. #3 is shopping in the dungeons--they have the hand crafted souvies. From CC
I found some really nice braided leather hairbands in the Dungeons. Say, $5 to $7 each worth about $30 to $60 here. I have some Coach bands so know my hairbands. Hand embroidered rayon or cotton blouses were nice and a few places sell weird, in a nice way, painted small pieces of furniture that are in catalogs I get priced in the hundreds. You can get a neat standing jewelry box for maybe $40 TO 50. Lots of T-shirts, not many of decent quality.
No problem. I like to support local artisans. You can buy a keepsake emerald for about $15 for grins. I got a small blown glass man hauling a bag over his shoulder that is filled with a cleaned straight from the mines emerald/s and he is glued or melted to a glass base. It made me and the DH laugh since he's been hauling my butt around since a spinal cord injury years ago. And I'm still a gem. LOL

There are also a lot of handicrafts in the duty free you pass through from the ship to the buses and taxis that include mole items, carved wooden items, coffee-organic is available but not shade grown, some leather goods and wayyyy overpriced jewelry. Might price what they have then head into town. If you want something from the duty free you have to go by that area to reboard your ship. And as we reboarded a government tourist type was handing out free 2 ounce packages of Columbian coffee.

... We have been to Cartegena several times...first if you go to the Dungeons...look for SILK macrame shawls.. As you leave the terminal price them.. I belive they are made by women in prison.. Emeralds are not my favorite gem... but the shaws are gorgeous..come in all colors..We have managed to find hidden away some folk art too

Here is a listing of all 4 of the tours together............... Monica, I am thinking that if there was a tour that went to the fortress for the visit and also that included a visit into the Palace that it would run about the same as the one that has time allowed for lunch--I don't know how much the entry fee was, but it has an extra 80 minutes of time built into it. If there is interest in this I can make a tour #5 with that .

Just an FYI!! You do realize that alanapapa and I are husband and wife right? We are in the same cabin!

Add DD9m Kathryn to the preemie list! She was 8 weeks early due to my preeclampsia and placental abruption and was 4 lbs 6 oz. Spent 19 days in the NICU and came home on Alana's 5th birthday! You'd never know it looking at her today! She was 2nd or 3rd tallest in her class and weighs 82 lbs, I believe.

Yes I do know you are together but I can not list a room under a childs name. You are all at the same table with another family that is why I did different colors and spaces so you can see who you are with.

Good afternoon everyone!

Well, it only took 3 weeks of my spare time but I finally finished our fishextender. He's a sample:

Here is a detail of the needlepoint work (yes, I do embroider):

We already received all our goodies by mail to fill the FE's. The FE list is still growing I see.

Thank you Julie for all your work on this project.

Hey Coral, it's not so much the wrist size as what size will fit over your hand.

Guys usually have larger hands and while the wrist part may work...it has to make it to the wrist first...

We ordered 1L and 1M for DH, 2M for me and a small for DD (though I bet it'll be way to big for her!)
