Our flight doesn't leave until 6 pm. We are renting a car (cheaper than DCL transfers) and going to Downtown Disney or a waterpark for the day. I can't sit at the airport that long then fly for 6 hours too. My kids would be nuts! Anyway, those are our plans for the rest of the day.

Since our flight was just recently changed (maybe about 2 weeks ago?) we thought the Disney Transfers made sense. Since this happened long after we were PIF, I'm not sure if we can still remove the transfers. I have considered just renting a car at the airport. We do still have some non-expiring Plus options from older passes, so a waterpark is an option - I just don't know if we will really want to go to a waterpark at the end of such a long trip. I just so wish we could just get home - I want to start unpacking and get some laundry done and make sure we are organized for the next morning when DH & I both need to be at work and DS9 will be heading off to school after missing the first 5 days. :confused3

Maybe AirTran does this a lot, but it never occured to me that our flight might change to such an extreme - I just assumed that it wasn't likely to change much more than 1/2 hour in either direction. Now I know better! We fly at least twice per year - usually between Chicago and Orlando - and we've never had flights changed more than 15 minutes or so before this. (over the last 19 years, it has to be at least 40 round-trips, so 80 flights!)

Happy Friday Everyone!!!

We're off to a going away party tonight for some Coast Guard friends shipping out to CA so I won't make chat. I have a request from them to make fried pork wontons so I'll be busy beforehand. Have a good day! :wave2:

Grown Up Princess Night Poll - Closing Sunday!

For the new folks: Grown-Up Princess Night is an event created on this thread. The little girls on the cruise get to be princesses for any formal night and wear their Disney Princess costumes. Some of us wanted to be princess too and decided to "dress up" special one night on the cruise. How much you want to dress up is each Princess' personal decision. Most are wearing a tiara, many are planning on gloves and sparkly jewelry.

There is a Poll over on the Planning Boardfor selecting which night should be Grown-Up Princess Night. We are going to declare the poll completed this Sunday night (June 8th) so that all of us Obsessive Planners can schedule it into our spreadsheets! If you haven't voted yet (or would like to change your vote), please head over to the Planning Board.

The current tally is:
1st Formal Night - 4 votes
2nd Formal Night (Ballroom Under the Stars) - 22 votes
Semi-Formal Night (was Prince & Princess dinner for WB Repo, but we don't have official word for the EB) - 10 votes

Since the airline are the ones that changed your flight you can call them and ask them to switch you to a different one, without any charge, if one is available that you prefer.

Thanks for the thought, but I've already gone that route! ::yes:: They originally canceled our flight and put us on a flight that leaves MCO at 10:00AM :scared1: AirTran did NOT notify us of this change in any way (and they did have my email address) and we only found out because I was on their site looking up something for my Dad and just checked on our flight while I was there. I called and the FIRST nonstop flight to Chicago after noon is at 5PM. There are a couple connecting flights, but they would get us home only a tiny bit earlier and we'd spend all that time stuck on airplanes or at other airports. They changed us to the 5PM flight (and at first failed to assign our seats that we had paid extra to have assigned! - had to call them back to fix that.) I am Sooooo NOT impressed with AirTran right now!

I just posted this on the planning forums, but figured I'd copy it here for those who don't always remember to check over there....

Hi Fellow Pirates!

I just went back through this thread and have a list of Pirates who are interested in the Pirate Brunch on the 24th. Since the "hassle free" booking was anything but hassle free - did anyone else manage to get a ressie for this? If you didn't get a ressie, do you plan to try once we are onboard or are you going to skip it? If you have a ressie or plan to try and get one, do you prefer to eat with just your own party or would you be willing to share a table with other Pirates (It may be easier for Palo to seat us all together if we are willing to share tables...)?

If some Pirates plan to try and book when we board, I will post a sign-up list on my cabin door (6076) where you can add your name if you get a ressie. I'll take that list to Palo the next day to see about getting us all seated together. Don't worry about which time slot - just get a ressie for the 24th! Palo Brunch has usually taken 1.5 to 2 hours for DH & I to finish in the past, so we will all have plenty of time to socialize.

This is the list I have as of June 6th. If you would like to be added (or removed) just let me know!

4:30 flight here and probably DTD

I am Soooooo NOT impressed with any airline these days.... fees for peanuts, fees for baggage, fees for asking about fees....

I have a question that I know DS would be mortified if he knew I was asking.

But.....

I was reading through the Best Tips thread and one person mentioned bed liners in case the little ones have accidents. Well, my not so little one still has accidents due to the medication he's taking and the fact that he is such a sound sleeper.

Is there such thing as bed liners that DCL will provide?? I've never heard it mentioned before and only 1 person in 30 pages of tips said anything about it.

You can cancel your transfers (or add transfers too) up until 3 days prior to the cruise. After that you can normally add them at the airport, but NOT at LAX.

I never had a problem with Air Tran until this trip. They changed our flight time two hours later, with a 2 hour longer layover, on the way home. The last thing I want to do after three weeks on vacation is to wait in airports all day. Since we are going home after the five night cruise, I'm taking a big chance, but switched the return flight to a non-stop at 11:33 am :scared1: I figure since we are able to do onboard check in, we'll just get off the ship earlier than normal and be fine. I wouldn't think of doing an 11:33 flight after the PC cruise though (holiday weekend, delays at the port). Last time we came back from the PC, it took forever to get off the ship. Much longer than ever before.

We were one of those Hassle Free casualties. I had it then it crashed. We will try to book once we are on board. If there aren't too many of us maybe we could book the private room if it is not taken :confused3 I heard from a WBer that it was not that difficult to do.

What's the number to add an OBC? If I have a TA do they have to do it or can I call? I know usually when calling DCL they tell you to contact your TA.

Normally it has to go through your TA but sometimes you get a cm that will allow you to do it or you can download the form and fax it in. The form is for in room gifts but there is a spot for OBC on the bottom right

You can call the regular DCL line - 800-951-3532

Can't speak to DLC provisions, but we were planning on bringing bedliners for Lexi (they're 15/pair), since she still doesn't make it through the night all the time. We could pack a spare for you (of course that means more laundry)...

For OBC you can go directly to DCL, you do not need to go through your TA. Same with gifts for the room.
