The Olympus is on the higher end price wise of the point and shoot cameras, but it is dropable, freezable and submersible.

There are two versions, one good to 10 feet underwater, one to 33 (and similar drop/freeze level differences). One runs $300 the other $400, but you can get both substantially cheaper by shopping around watching sales (save $50 to $75 ish).

I have one of the aquapacs as does Roger (Goofyonthehiseas) and we both had good results with it. I would post pix, but can't access photo sharing at work.....

Thanks, I am taking notes...I am not in a hurry, just need before the trip! :)

I can wait and watch...

Yeah we did that with LIME colored MICKEY PAINT CHips from HomeDepot on one cruise. It was great seeing them in lanyards everywhere we went . . .

Yeah my name is working again.. only took my 45 min this evening..

We had nametags that someone wonderful made us for a previous cruise. She handed them out at the meet and great after the saftey drill.. it was a great wy to recognize Disers... and then we wore them on the lanyards with our KTW card.

Our first home was that price! :) It was a 3 bdrm 1 3/4 bathroom. It was brand new construction (all of our homes have been brand new) so the price is a little high per sq ft. That was 24 1/2 yrs ago. For that price we could have bought a preowned home that was much larger -- but, dh doesn't *do* handyman stuff.
That was also when home prices were outrageous in TX. That same home 7yrs later was worth 43,000. :(

BTW -- my home has a tankless hot water system which is a great energy/water saver!

Our house is only a few years old and DH has to do a ton of handyman stuff on it due to shoddy construction! We had a water leak last fall (and likely since the house was built) because when they installed the drain pipe for the upstairs sinks, they cut it wrong. So instead of cutting a new piece of pipe, they just installed this one and stuck a piece of plastic into it and a ton of glue. Well the piece of plastic only served to redirect the water OUT of the pipe.

Oh and then the roof around our chimney was done wrong so the water was going behind the stucco and tearing large chunks off. We attempted to hire a handyman and his roofer, but that didn't work... then his other roofer didn't work out so DH got up there and 'fixed' it.

I would love to have one of those! Our house came with an 85gal water heater since we have a spa tub. We had friends go through 3 plumbers before finding one that would install a new tankless instead of the tank. We also had an experience with a plumber too... We had a huge leak... They brought this thing in to listen for the leak and thought they heard something. Wanted to charge us $12k to tear up our foundation. Turns out it was leaking in the sprinklers in the front yard!!

The environment is why not.. (oki i know different thread...:rolleyes1 ) Stormwater management and runoff is why not..loss of forests is why not...

Increased utility consumption by some doesn't just effect that user. It requires more substations/ larger transmission lines...etc... and when the utilities have increased costs from building these ...Who pays the price? That guy in the 8500 sf house doesn't care if his bill goes up $200 but for the little people who buy flourescent bulbs and conserve where they can and go without heat and air when they can...Those kinds of increases are monumental...

Sorry, I'm a planner with environmental background...

What's your background? I'm a civil/environmental engineer. Well before I became a fulltime mom/OT/SLP for my DD...

I do have rain barrels and those are great! The problem with those is that when we need the water, it's been weeks with no rain (the whole desert thing with about 15in average per YEAR) and when they're full it's because we've had a massive rain and nothing outside needs the water :rotfl2:

Yeah, ours was built in 1960 and we bought it from the original owner. Last assessment on it was $97,000.

Shoot, we didn't even have a honeymoon! Couldn't afford it. 9 years later we went to Jamaica for a week,on our bartending tips.

You sound so much like me...our honeymoon was staying at the hotel we both worked at for our wedding night. Then it was back to real life!

We are blessed to be able to do the things we do now and even better, we get to do it with our kids and (most of time, but not this trip) we take one or both of our sets of parents. We are so lucky!

Penguin? Well no wonder.....I didn't think penguin's liked the heat :rotfl2:

Andy

Sorry Andy - Penguin is my oldest dd's name since I commandeered her original one. Sometime she still uses it so I have to be careful what I post sometimes.

New Repo toy.....

Last year I piced up one of the Olympus Stylus 770 SW cameras onboard the Magic. It is waterproof to 33ft w/o any special case, and 7.1mp.

Yesterday I went and picked up it's big brother the 1030 SW (now DW/DD can take pics @ the snorkle trips too)

stylus1030SWfront-001.jpg

Other than being 10.1mp and having a slightly larger screen, the two cameras are about the same size & features.

Now I just need to pick up a new Canon Point & Shoot which can do time lapse pics for when we're in the locks :hyper:

Andy

Andy - let me know which you like better. Am debating on spending the money on the 1030. Don't really need it but the extra 1.5 ft of shockproof might come in handy if DH is holding the camera. I love my 770 - I have it in orange but you know the lure of a new toy. Just can't help it.

Always thinking aren't ya?

I am sure she will be wearing something wedding like to tip us off. Otherwise, how else would we know it was her?

Hey, maybe she can tell her new husband that we're all psyhic pirate:'s and we were are in large groups our powers band together to make us even more powerful? :rotfl:

That's precisely why we don't own a coffee table now! My German Shepherd/Aussie will sweep anything off a table that low! He's got a 3ft tail with long hair on it! Keeps low things dusted and provides a nice breeze on warm nights.... I wouldn't say a sweet smelling breeze though!

:lmao:

Cheryl - what a lousy day - bummer - In Your Honor - I am having a yummy adult beverage!! Toast to the end of the lousy day!!

Okay - I didn't multi-quote - but tried to remember responses - bad idea!!

Hopefully I can check back later.

Chris.... You can have at least two adult berages for me!!!:drinking1 :drinking1 With the news of my DD and operation........this day can't end fast enough!!!:worried: :worried: :worried: I just hope the darling DGC behave for me!!::yes::

I will be in the hospital for 23 hours, not a second more ya know 'cause insurance will flip out!:hyper: Maybe I can take my laptop with me to blog!:cool1:

Be Lucky you can get 23 hours.... My co-worker had hers out as same day surgery...:scared1: Yikes there was no way i was in an shape to go home right away...

Luckily (well sort of) i had kinda an emergency surgery... because it took so long for them to diagnose my gallbladder as kapput that my eyes had turned yellow... (ie dwindling liver function)

I had to be admitted the night after i finally met the surgeon. They gave me plenty of fluids and then surgery was next day. I got to stay another overnight after that. BTW Jello after surgery never tasted so good in my life...

Have your DH stock up on liquids as you'll need them for the next week (boullion cubes, jello, stuff like that)

Why thank you! That was me!!! I used the Castaway Cay postcard (since we were doing the double dip) & I added a lime green mickey head! ::yes::

Oh TOTALLY Cool! I have never met ANYONE who remembers The Friendly Giant :cool1: :thumbsup2 It was my favorite show back then and I think it was only on for a year or two here in the Chicago area. I also watched Captain Kangaroo, a lot of PBS (Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, Electric Company, Zoom) and occasionally Romper Room (never called my name either!) and Kookla, Fran and Ollie. Oh yeah, and Bozo's Circus - my Grandma was aquainted with "Mr Ned" (Chicago version of the Bozo show) and took me to meet him, but I was shy and hid behind her the whole time (I think I was about 4 years old :) )

Pamela

Yes we had Kookla,Fran and Ollie in MPLS too. Kevin met Captain Kangaroo's little boy on a field trip when he was a kid and remembers the Capt'n being quite mean to his son.

:listen: :listen: If you could all say a little prayer for my DD..... she has a little operation tomorrow! I will be babysitting my DGKIDS.

Prayers said Cheryl!

I really can't afford 2 each,so just bought the white ones.

I only bought white too since I am not sure what I will have on PC day- hopefully my bathing suit.

It is kind of like when I saw the space shuttle land. I was looking and looking and after I saw it I got bored. I went back into the motor home and watched the whole thing that was outside my window on TV. :lmao: I feel quite sure everyone will get better pictures than me and I am not going to kill myself to be on the railing all day.

Oh looky we discovered a whole side of you we didn't know before! Guess you'll be joining Cheryl, M & Laura on the bar! :rotfl2:

Hmmmm, I talk a nice quiet well behaved game, but really, I am very at home in the bar...

However, being that the cruises are family vacation, I have never ever been to the bars on a cruise...but I am sure I will learn to love it! I love to just meet new people, chat and have a fun time...I have a few stories to tell, but ummmmm, I heard this is a family board! :)

Story on United and other airlines pulling planes as well as other info:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24963160

I know which flights will be cut! They always cut the ones to/from Albuquerque! If there is plane problems, they always take the Abq plane for those people and make Abq people wait!

HAHAHA That's a great idea!
