Well I found out some helpful info just now.
I called and spoke w/ the concierge at the DT.
My plan to get a cab to the port the next morning was pretty much shot. He said all the cabs are going to be at the port trying to get fares going to the airport as the fare is higher. He said they had 2 shuttles that they will try to run to get all of us over there as quick as possible. He said they normally run starting at 11 but they could start earlier. Each shuttle holds 10 people so they would take 2 trips if there were 40 of us.
Concierge also said there was not a place even to walk to except an "upscale" restaurant that would not necessarily be appropriate for kids.
At Ports O' Call Village there are places (mostly fish) that have walk up counters.
He mentioned Acapulco restaurant as a possibility as well.

We should nail down the shuttles, even if there are 40 of us, they will need 3 trips at least, given all the extra luggage, etc.

Maybe we need a bus?

CRUISE QUESTION

Does anyone have a good map of Puerto Vallarta?
We are looking at the area around where the shops and restaurants are in town that is near the waterfront area.

Thanks

Bunch of good ones on the website, just scroll down the page

BTW, if I happened to miss something important - someone please let me know what I missed or what I was supposed to sign up for? I'm sure I missed some deadlines. Oh well, I'm still in a bit of la-la-land daze - wonder how long that will last. :rotfl:

Hi Laura! PM me if you want to be on the fish extender list, although I'm sure you will see my notice a few more times before I start to close the list in a week or so. Nice to have you back!:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Reposting in case anyone missed it

I've decided to get a little trinket for all the princesses participating in the Grown Up Princess Night.

I've posted a thread for everyone who is participating to list their name.

Please let me clarify that you do not have to sign up to participate. But I will not be able to give you this special gift if I don't know that you are going to dress up.

I was kind of thinking along those lines. I know we all want to get there early. There will be some that do not feel like the cost of the shuttle outweighs the free one.
I personally would be willing to pay extra to be there before the doors open.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Calling all Pirates!

I have posted a poll, (yes another poll) on the website for the wording to go on the wrist bands. There are 5 choices. If anyone has any other ideas, post them there. Limited to 25 spaces.

Thank you. You can now go back to chatting!

Someone on the WB posted that they were told that about 1500 kids were scheduled for the EB

 Really? I knew there would be more kids than the WB repo because of the timing, but that many more kids than the WB?

I read something like that - although the ship only is supposed to hold 1000 kids.

That's like 1/2 of the passengers... seems high. But then our # of kids is 40%......

I agree that the 1200-1500 kids is way too high. We know 226 of 586 (38.6%) registered through DIS are under the age of 17. Max. Capacity is 2,400...so if Magic sailed at maximum, there are 1,814 passengers who have not registered on DIS. Of those, 974 would need to be kids (53.7%) just to reach 1,200 total. To get to the 1,500 total, there would need to be 1,274 kids out of remaining 1,814 (70.2%). I bet we do sail with just under 1,000 kids though.:jumping1: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :jumping1:

Let me tell you - there were about 500 onboard this one and by midweek of the first week, many parents had given up even attempting to discipline their kids, DH and I ran into many "older" kids that were just deliberately rude. I'm sure that if any of our parents had seen a fraction of what I saw - many would have been  to admit that was their kids.

:(

Is this an appropriate place for JR's "mediocre minds" comment?:lmao: :lmao:

::yes:: Can't accuse this thread of ignoring Cruise questions.;)

Hi Guys - I sent out several postcards from Cabo San Lucas - two of which were for my two soldiers. One is a CPT and one is enlisted. I can ask them if they received them. I think a lot has to do with where you send them from. 3 were sent directly from the post office they have there which is just past the Pariasno Mall (or something like that) and the others were sent from a red post office dropbox from the above-mentioned mall. I sent them to my mom and I can let you all know if they received them. I don't have internet access to my guys but I can send them a letter and ask them.

By the way, the walk to the post office is about 5 minutes further than the mall but you walk on the main traffic road.

Another option to consider is www.premiumpostcard.com. I used them on our last cruise and it was great. You can upload photos taken on the cruise to the site and turn them into a postcard. They print and mail them. There's a premium of course, and you don't get the foreign postmark, but at least you know it will go out.

"Mom" just told me that I need to post here more often that people are wondering if I'm still going so here I am!

I've had a very busy Spring with work, then a quick trip to WDW, a couple deaths to deal with, but getting through and getting ready for this cruise!

Did I miss anything? :lmao: :lmao:
