Chat usually starts around 8PM Central (so 9 Eastern, 7 Mountain and 6 Western) We have been having it at the Pirate Zone, but if DIS chat is working we'll have to decide which.

I hope I stay awake that long! I have a bad cold and am really tired. Since we are still cooking dinner (Spaghetti & Artichokes) I'll probably still be up for a while ...

Pamela

My mom pointed out that it was pretty scary that airlines are now demanding that we pay for them to lose our luggage. Considering lost luggage rates are at an all time high, doesn't it seem odd that they are now demanding that we pay extra for the opportunity . . . LOL

Theresa...that is an excellent point! I would think you should be entitled to a refund of the baggage fee if that were to happen. Not that I think for a minute the airlines would give you one!

Spaghetti and Artichokes sound like an interesting combination . . .is that cure for what ails you?

Funny . . .that's why I said to my mom . . .LOL

First they took away our inflight meals . . . now they want to take away our luggage. . . making more and more sense just to learn to fly myself!

:woohoo: Finally got the house all clean for the weekend..well almost..still have the kitchen..I will do that later tonight.

10 boxes of cookie recognitions arrived so I will be sorting tonight so that leaders can pick up their stuff in the morning.

Richard (DH) was talking about that last night

I just got a call from my local bloodbank letting me know I am due to donate. I usually let the recorder pick them up but decided to answer to find out about exclusions.
I assumed because I had "cancer" that I would be excluded from donating. She was so nice and looked everything up for me. Turns out Basal Cell Carcinoma does not exclude me. :woohoo:
Since she was so nice I asked to look up all our ports: Cabo San Lucas, Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta, Cartegena Colombia and Aruba. Contrary to what I was told earlier NONE of those destinations exclude me from donating.  I asked her to triple check as I know when I went to Aruba last I was excluded for a year but she said they change the criteria all the time.
Yay! I was feleling so bad to not being able to donate. I am one of those people who could not care less about needles so I feel like it is a moral obligation to have blood when others need it. When Megan needed multiple transfusions (too little to make her own blood) someone took their time to make it available for her.
Commercial for donating blood over. ;)

Thanks for the info. I can fit in one more donation before the cruise, and I thought that would be it for a year afterwards. Sounds like that's not the case.

Thanks. I was really fine with him posting and slamming me BUT, when he started talking about my DH (and saying how him & his tablemates got a good laugh by making fun of my dh) I about came unglued -- not in anything I posted!
Pick on me all you want but, why pick on someone that you've NEVER spoken to?

I do believe that he will be on this cruise -- in a Cat 1. He likes to make sure that he only travels in a Cat 1. That's what started his beef with me. I had a Cat 1 and he was never able to upgrade and was *stuck* in a Cat 2.

He made fun of me hosting the wine & cheese party -- but, he had hosted one in his suite on another sailing. But, for some reason he posted that the reason I hosted was because I was wanting people to like me... :confused3 He had PM'd me before the cruise and said that he would handle the wine party for me and I told him that wasn't necessary that I would make the arrangements -- I know how to throw a party! LOL!

If you see a short, overweight, balding (always wears a hat) man in his early 30's (I think that is about his age???) watching the Disers... that would be him. His wife is a small, thin hispanic woman and they have no children.

He actually posted about sitting in the clubs at night (he made sure to post that he was drinking Coke and nothing else) and watching some of us... :confused3 Why??? :confused3

Sorry to hear about this guy giving you troubles. But I have to say we like you and don't even require a wine and cheese party to do so.:grouphug:

I just wanted to share with everyone how completely cool, and astonishing, and gratifying this community is. There's no one "in charge",
yet everyone contributes what they can and no one feels compelled to do more than they are able. (At least I hope not.) We are each doing what we do best, and relying on others, with different strengths, to cover the rest.

Step back and look at what we've accomplished... website, topical forums, group clothing, group cruise navigators, activity books for the kids, special little surprises for each other, shared artwork, large and small group dining, loads of information on each port, shared excursions and experiences, more onboard activities than any one person could attend, and the list goes on, and on.

This is a huge undertaking and accomplishement for a group this size, and yet it has come together naturally. Growing and changing depending on the people involved.

We are such a testament to what a group of people can accomplish when they come together in a spirit of mutual understanding, support, tolerance, and yes humor plays a role. Yes, we've had our squabbles, but we've worked through them - gaining understanding and enriching ourselves through the experience.

I am so completely grateful to be a part of this community. And to have this experience with all of you.

Many thanks. :grouphug:

Well said Esteri! I'm sure this would have been a great vacation anyway, but we are so looking forward to meeting up with everyone in person, and it's just gonna make the cruise that much better.

I have basic info for the mailing list, do we want to post a roster?

Basic info would be
DIS name, first names/ages, celebrations on cruise, room # or GTY and dining

Would look like this:

tom31b -- Tom*, Ellen, Chris 11, Mitch 9 -- Probably just that my wife is not killing me for getting involved in this group! -- 7503 -- Early

Or, as that really isn't celebration:

tom31b -- Tom*, Ellen, Chris 11, Mitch 9 -- -- 7503 -- Early

All in favor?

:thumbsup2
AYE!

We just need to be careful to only list people who are OK with it.

Party In My Room !!

After much hand wringing, teeth gnashing and a flurry of emails, I found out yesterday that my TA was able to get us upgraded to a CAT 6 (GTY don't ya know)

We'll be the room with the open door. Come & hang out with us !!

Holy Verandah Batman!

That's awesome Lisa!

Sorry Monica , but this picture with Jack is much better

pirate:

Yep, have to agree with you Todd. You both look AWEsome!

I know..it's pretty quiet..we were supposed to got o Vegas and then I realized I didn't want to sit in traffic for 5 hours...probably a good thing with the weather here this weekend.

I thought Crash and Roger would be sprinting to the pirate:

Andy

Oh man I didn't even think of that. We're getting pretty close! Think we'll make it to the pirate: tonight? Man it's so hard to ketchup when we're close LOL

BTW I was :lmao: :lmao: at the "paying the airlines to lose our luggage" comment!

This TOAL must be getting closer. We got the cases and dive bags out of the closet to see what junk we had in them from last time :rolleyes1

You're right. DS11 signed up for his dive class tonight. Since he's 11 they're making him take private lessons. $$$$$ Even with all his birthday money, and our assistance, he still had to fork over $200 of his own. He's pretty jazzed. I'm letting him inherit my booties and fins (they'll fit him) as I want new ones anyway... :rolleyes1

Having my son as my dive biddy is one of the things I'm looking forward to most. :goodvibes

Say, we're putting together a charter in Aruba - got room for a couple more divers...

OK I do have a question... How much dressing up is really necessary onboard? We're more of the zip-off shorts and decent shirt (like polos) types. I know for Palo if we can get in, it'll be dressier, but other than that?

That sounds so cool...We are hoping that DD11 will snorkle this time...we tried in Hawaii but the water was really rough.

We're not diving this time (DW's back is troubling her and doesn't want to risk it with weight belt and tank), we're just snorkeling.

I may be in a minority... but i dress up (ie have planned outfits) for every dinner.

I don't think i've even done shorts to dinner. Usually dress or skirt or pants or fancy dress (for semi and formals)
