OK, now I'm confused :confused3 :confused3 ....

I thought when you signed up for the FE Exchange you *were* making a commitment to exchange with each cabin that is also participating, no? Or, is this just a pick and choice type thing - I thought that is what the SM was all about???

We had a pretty big group on the last cruise and it takes quite a bit time to make the rounds so I will only be delivering once during the cruise which will take me a few days (at least).

Generally speaking, yes, when you sign up for FE you plan to put a little something -- can be very little! -- in each FE at least once . . . however, because a few people were worried about how many would participate and made noises about breaking up the list (which, to me, is sort of not in the spirit of the FE) I said that you only agreed to have an FE up. However, the basic idea, of course, is that you leave something at some point, and in return, find lots of fun surprises throughout the cruise! A few, however, may just give to their floor or something but we are not the FE police and will not be keeping track!

Everyone still thik we will end up around the 100 mark on FE?

Maybe a little less . . . the PMs are slowing down quite a bit and I plan to make the list (if not the cabin numbers!!!!) more or less "final" by the beginning of June so that everyone knows how many to plan for . . .

Maybe a bit higher - I just quick counted 74-ish in Julie's posting this morning. I doubt we'll hit 150 though.

Yes, but I am getting very few new signups now . . . I personally don't think we will hit 100 cabins . . .

Sounds good for Sunday.

Cool...A plan... Give me a call or pm and we'll plan further...

Generally speaking, yes, when you sign up for FE you plan to put a little something -- can be very little! --

Yes, in my looking around... I've noticed some really nice in-expensive pirate candy items. (or provide something non-theme)

WOW!!!! The kids and I did the Mickey head Tie Dye t-shirts a couple of years ago (I got the directions off the Dis)..... We may have to make this a summer project!!!! Learn to do really good Tie Dye!!!!

That would be cool. Could you by any chance find the directions again? Neat summer project. We could show off our creations on the TOAL.

Edit: I found the links as I was "ketchuping". Very detailed - the instruction pics are great. I'm going to do some for my troop.

Just trying to take the easy way. I use the "borrowed" graphics and put all my text in with Word. With the Word Art option you can even do shadows, etc. So no jumping the gun, just different strokes for different folks. I so want to be able use Photoshop (which my DH bought me for my birthday) but get frustrated every time I try to so much as add text. With Word you just put in a text box, right click format text box and away you go. I use Power Point that way too. I guess I am just a Microsoft kind of person. Although I use Adobe Acrobat at work and I hate that too.:lmao:

I'm actually with you on that; I just see all those graphic images everyone else on the boards have done and realize that if I want to do something nice to keep up with the pirates, I feel like I better step it up :worship:

I like seeing all the door signs, fish extenders, etc.....help me create something in my mind I'd like for our door; at least within my ability range :surfweb:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Yes we spent some time at the "International UFO Museum and Research Center". Sydney had fun running round since it's big and open. They actually added a library since the last time we were there. DH actually wanted to tour the landing site but they were closed due to private property and such. It's impossible to read everything they have on the walls there but it's so funny that you guys are quoted as saying that :) We met a CRAZY lady running a store down the street. She was telling us how she doesn't believe in all the alien nonsense, but decorates her house with alien heads and such because she is scared of her neighbors. She also had some trees cut down but left the stumps tall so that she could put tuxedos on them and alien heads..... She must've been bored because she kept talking and talking to DH :rotfl2:

Oh my!!! My family has been in Roswell for 3 generations although most have now moved away. I never heard one word about no stinkin' spacecraft my whole life until I went to college. Then I found out our ranch was supposedly the landing site. I could not wait to ask my Grandparents what they know about it. I was all ready for "Well Coral, remember that part of the barn we never let you go to. Well, that's where we hid the aliens" . Nope I got nothing!
I have stated this before but here is my take on the whole "Roswell Incident".
My Mom said that her Aunts hired hands kept telling her they saw something in the sky 2 nights before this. It really scared them, although I do not think she saw anything.
The night of whatever crashed it was lightning and storming. To ranchers in NM (think dry desert) lightning means possible fires so my Grandfather was watching very carefully. He did not see anything. Also since I know the land so well I know the Army caravan would have had to go 10 miles down a dirt road and right by the front of our house. There is NO WAY it would go unnoticed. Also the "spot" is a few miles from the nearest road. Very rough hilly terrain. So all that lends itself to think nothing happened.
On the other hand..... if it was on the 2nd site we would not have seen anything. It's about 10 miles away. Also some people I knew my whole life and trusted had a direct role in the whole capture thing so back to who knows!
I do know Roswell has certainly made the most of it.:rotfl2:

You are doing all of this work on the t-shirts, and you are not even getting one? I think you have earned a free one for each of your family members! :goodvibes

But.....you won't be the only "out of uniform pirate family". I have decided to not order....and I'm considering the DIY method since Todd posted such a great image of the banner. :thumbsup2

You'll notice I said I don't DO black in summer; I'd die of heat exhaustion!!!! Then some wierdo on this site (some id named Joel110) dared to accuse me of mutiny!!!! CAN YOU IMAGINE THE NERVE???

(oh....caution everyone.....I "kinda know" joel110 so I swear I'm not being toooooo mean!)

SHe'll love it Andy.....

He kind of "threw you under the bus", didn't he?

OK so on the subject of FEs... How many nights do you guys plan on handing something out? Every other day? We haven't decided to do it yet, though I think it would be fun. I'm just not sure about delivering everything to EVERYONE every day and how much stuff I'd have to bring. Also I have no clue what to even give out... And how much money do you guys spend on all the gifts?

We're just planning on one delivery.

I could not have said it better!!! when I read it I was like "wha? who? OHHHHHHHH.....I guess maybe I should just wait and see how much of an outcast I'd be!

BTW, you were talking about DIY, I bought transwer sheets at WalMart so you can print off any photo/image in color and transfer it to any t-shirt you buy. It's not hard and not too pricey!

OF COURSE we're getting shirts!! Just not black or white. Like anyone else doing DIY with the printer - I'll create my own and deliver them to the printer for printing. So, I'll have the same high quality image as everyone else getting shirts, just on something a little different.

That's what the DIY option is all about. Professional quality image, different sort of shirt.

I have been working on some door magnets the last couple of weeks. :surfweb: Someone on here (sorry don't remember who) posted one in DIS green (sorry, Captain) with the date and "DIS member on board". I would like to thank :thanks: whoever it was because I stole it along with creating some of my own. Mostly in Word or Power Point. Only problem is I have about 25 of them and can't find cheap magnetic paper. My Dollar Store doesn't seem to carry it. And Wal Mart is like $8 for 5 sheets. The craft stores are even higher. Have to save that money for excursions and souvineirs (ok I can't spell). ;)

Finished ketchup guess I better get back to work. Have a great Thursday.

The Dis green "DIS member on board" was posted my me :) I had the original idea and the original graphic was created by a DISer on a cruise with us a few years ago. I have continued to use it and just change the date/text info.

Here is the basic graphic (small to display OK here) To get the full resolution version, click here.

Feel free to use it and any personalization you would like!

Fish Extenders are getting confused with Secret Mickey. They are 2 separate actvities.

FE - when you sign up, you are commiting to at least 1 item per cabin/family. If you choose to do more, or add special items for kids, etc, that is up to you.

SM - you will be assigned 1 person, you will drop little gifts off for that person throughout the cruise. I believe there is a minimum of $25 spent (not exactly sure on the amount of this one).

I am planning to TRY and have something for everyone - but at the moment, I only have enough for about 50. I am concerned about cost and space in the luggage. I am still looking for stuff and if I must I will probably resort to something really basic like a sticker or piece of candy to have enough for them all. I would hate to have someone feel they couldn't participate and have an FE if they can't guarantee they will have a gift for everyone. With this many people involved, even if some can only give to a partial list (maybe their floor, or just kids in their kids age group) it will probably work out that most people receive something several times during the trip.

I just saw on the news that housing prices have risen about 5% in DFW. Unemployment is very low here etc.
A lot of the credit goes to the oil/gas drilling.

You're doing better than here. We saw this morning that Sacramento is the 4th worst housing market in the country! Got over a year of inventory on the market. Great time to buy! :thumbsup2

Very cool DH has always wanted a parrot. I told him when we got married that if he ever screened for command of ship, I would buy him a parrot. The Captain needs a parrot. His command tour ended up being a shore-based unit with 8 small boats. I offered to buy him 8 parakeets, but he declined.

Thanks for keeping track of this. I am hoping it doesn't go much higher than 100 as I want to do something special and not sure if I will have the time to make 150+ (though I would make sure to have enough for everyone somehow).

All these different lists and plans and booking excursions is making it all seem so much more real and exciting. I am sure this next 3 months is going to just fly by.

Anything goes! Whatever works for you, truly. If we start telling everyone what to do, it will take a lot of the fun out of the FE . . .

If you go over to the Main Cruise Forum, you shouldn't have to go too far down the list to see a thread about Fish Extenders or Fish Extender Gift Ideas.

Thanks. Sorry, I didn't remember who I "stole" it from. I put it with some other graphics and our names. I am good at putting things together, not so much starting from scratch.

I haven't done the door signs before so i thought I would play with one tonight...still a work in progress but it's getting there...

Very nice! :cool1:

it is easy BIP after an hour of reading the posts, there is no time for posting and chatting.. :confused3 so another way is not to ketchup.. but just post and sound silly... or in my case that is a natural state.. LOL

Susan I enjoy reading a hello, goodmorning or goodnight from anyone who has the time to post it! :thumbsup2

The ride suddenly stopped with no water.. the boat/slide/raft kept going and he crashed into the back of my head full speed. I flipped back into his head. His face was a mess to say the least. They took us to Williamsburg Hospital in just our bathing suits..( tell me that was embarrassing) My poor kids were left in the park to find my sister. She of course thought they were joking when they told her "mom and Marty were just taken to the hospital" Then we had to drive back to NY STATE the next day...in all that pain and broken bones.Needless to say we havent been back to Water Country...:confused3

OMG Doreen that is just horrible!

Yes. Time will fly...and I'll be the person still assembling FE gifts by the pool at HoJo's. :thumbsup2
