Well, we finally talked to the school principals this past week about the TOAL and missing 8 1/2 days of school!:scared1:

Our two youngest attend an elementary school with a very strict principal. We really like her and the way she runs the school, but were nervous about what she'd say. She agreed that this really was a trip of a lifetime and that they would learn a lot from the cruise. She agreed to give them their math & vocab homework on August 1st for August 19th through August 29th. They can have it done before they leave. NOt sure what kind of homework my 1st grader will have as he hasn't really done much math yet except just knowing what the numbers are and he's quite bored with the kindergarten level work. Doesn't sound like there will be much make-up work when they get back. She did ask that they take lots of pictures and do a presentation to the class about their trip.

Our oldest is starting 7th grade and the school said he would know his math teacher for next year by the end of this year so we can get him started on his math in August as well. He will have some make-up work, but they said that was okay and were glad he was missing the first week and a half rather than later in the year.

Now we can really relax and enjoy the TOAL without thinking about work, school or anything else except enjoying ourselves and meeting lots of new people!!

It was silly but I was so stressed out about telling our principal that the kids would be missing the first week of school! After I told her, I just felt like this huge weight had been lifted off me. It was then that I really started to get excited. Of course, since we decided to come home on Sept. 2 now, the kids will be missing an extra day. I'll just let her know that this summer when I email her to remind her about our trip. ;)

another text from Laura

Yes...Laura said they are moving right along...faster than the last time. Ship is under PC pilot control so they are moving them right on thru.

Here is what the BBQ lunch was for them....rib eye steak salmon kabobs, lemon rosemary chicken, ceasar salad, cookies, pineapple upside down cake, banana bread, corn on the cob and bratwurst. Oh...and finally decent salsa!!! LOL....thats according to Laura. She said the rib eye is grilled on a BBQ along with BBQ short ribs.

Yummy!!!!:yay:

So far I agree with everyone's response to the Ressie Poll.

I was both nervous and excited.

And once it's over, it REALLY DOES make it all seem so much more real!!!

I know. When we talked to her, she asked if we were asking permission. Well, we really weren't asking permission but just telling her we were going and hoping she could help us make it easy on the kids! She did and was very understanding...thank goodness as she's the type of principal who would frown upon taking the kids from school for a vacation in the middle of the school year as it takes away from their "learning" time.

Yeah, everyone knows good lookin' ladies have ankle tatoos. :)

Good answer, good answer!!! :rotfl:

I actually do have one on my b*tt. BUT....it is small, it's where no one would ever see it, except Jay...and even that isn't very often.....

And it was done in the privacy of my own home by a friend who does permanent makeup.

Here's a few pictures from our bedroom window this morning. Unfortunately, it just didn't quite catch how blue the sky really was this morning.

Tweety Bird? I think.

Wish they would have Disney characters or the castle balloon. It's pretty sad when you see such a gorgeous site and see the Warner Bros characters and think it'd be better if it was Disney!

really beautiful

Has anyone seen the movie Wedding Crashers? This is a classic line from Vince Vaughn's character:

"Tattoo on the lower back. Might as well be a bullseye."

I love, love that movie!:rotfl:

Wow, that's not what Jay tells everyone when you're not around, Stacey! You mean he doesn't see that tattoo three times a day??????:rotfl2:

My feelings on this change from moment to moment. I am most nervous that my parents won't get the excursions they want. They can not book until 75 days out. If we get the DCL PV excursion we want, and I can't get them on at 75 days out, I will feel really bad telling them we are going without them!

I also want to get a spot for my dad on the golf outing at Cabo Del Sol. Those are my biggest worries.

Does anybody have the Disney Charades game? I have a friend who has the game, but she doesn't have directions for it. If you have it, do you think you can give me a copy of the directions so I can pass them on to her?

Thanks!!!

This is what I found Mike

Instructions

A Gameboard

Charade Cards (includes easy cards for the kids)

A Musical Clapboard Timer/Card Dipenser (requires 3 AA batteries)

Two Mickey Mouse Feet (movers)

To set the game up all you have to do is snap the clapboard timer together and load 12 of the cards into the back of it. Then you lay the board out and place your "Mickey" feet at the start. After you divide into two teams, you're ready to go.

A game consists of three rounds. To start round one the first player (always the youngest) stands in front of their team and pushes the arm of the clapboard timer down. This causes one of the cards to eject out the side of the timer. The first round is the say anything round which means you can say anything about the character on your card except, of course, their name. If your team guesses the right character, you put your card face up in front of you, move your "Mickey" feet and it's the other teams turn. If your team doesn't guess correctly then you have to put the card back in the timer and it's the other teams turn. The round is over when the 12 cards are gone.

The second and third rounds progress the same way except in the second round you can only say one word about your character and in the third round you can't say anything.

*NOTE: When your team guesses a character right you have to move your "Mickey" feet accordingly:

Round 1: one space
Round 2: two spaces
Round 3: three spaces

When the third round is over, the team that is farthest along on the game board wins.

Christopher (KSDisneyDad) thanks for posting those beautiful pictures . . . and is tomorrow your birthday?

OK all so frustrated with my blog - for some reason - cannot post pictures no matter what resolution I have. Guess I'll have to wait until I land to figure it out. Anyway, just wanted to post the reason for the blackout on the cameras. Guess if they wanted to keep it secret they shouldn't have let about 400 DIS-sers anywhere near it.

IMG_0250.jpg

BTW, I didn't post it cuz I'm on my 2nd 500 package for the internet. Another $150 down the drain - but here is my picture. I had another one but it showed some sailor in shorts! YOWSA! :lmao: Dang - I miss that smiley!

FYI - this was taken with my 100-400m lens at full out power. Not bad huh? Guess they didn't think I'd zoom in! OH OH! Does this mean I'll have Uncle Sam on me now? Big Brother? :scared1:

I probably shouldn't have posted this but what harm would it cost for a "few" of my friends to see my pictures right? :rolleyes1

I was really hoping to not be buying a bunch of merchandise...but now that I've seen some of it....I'm in so much trouble!!!

i have been lurking around for a while, but i figured today was a good day to take the plunge and join your thread!! my family of five will be on the cruise and with the upcoming excursion booking (and the pif :guilty: )this trip is actually feeling like a reality. :woohoo:

all of your info so far has been so helpful so i wanted to share too! when i was on the panama canal site today i found a cool kids link with info about the canal. i'm not sure if you guys have seen it but it is really interactive for the kids (who am i kidding. i had a good time looking at it and seeing how the canal worked!). my 3 kids are pretty young (8, 5 & 3) but i am still looking for little things to try and explain the canal to them. here's the link www.pancanal.com/eng/persona/k/index.html

i loook forward to the next few months of planning! pam

So nice to meet you and Welcome to the Family!
