I'm very late to the party and wondering if this is the place to jump in. After having been on waiting lists for pretty much forever we got extremely lucky and got offered a space on this cruise and I got the booking two days ago!! I'm still walking around in a dazed state that we're going to be on the Panama Repo!! It's going to be my son who'll be 6 and myself. We are both very happy!!!! :goodvibes

Congrats and welcome aboard. Just jump right in and follow as much as you can. That is all you can do. Hang on this ride is a roller coaster and at times it moves extremely fast.:)

I am a bit...I know that my great-grandparents on my father's side came through Ellis Island from Italy. We can trace our genealogy on my maternal grandmothers side back to the 1600's when they came over from England as one of the early settlers in Massachusettes - true story, one of my ancestors was accused of being a witch in Salem during the witch hunts.

That's cool to know something like an ancestor accused of being a witch in Salem... my father's family also came over from England- on the Mayflower.... we haven't traced anyone coming through Ellis Island on either side...

Congrats for securing a spot on the Repo! I will have a six year old son on this cruise as well (plus two older boys). The kids are starting to get really excited about the cruise and my DS10 begain reading a book on the Panama Canal last night.

Hey Desiree, Mike, or Stace.... Does the swim show an observer listing to book? (the description used to have it awhile back.

The only Observer that I see listed is in PV...the cost is $35 and the times are 10:00-1:00, 11:00-2:00, and 12:00-3:00.

The room is pretty much spoken for. We're trying to get it 3 days for the wenches brunch. Another group is trying to get it 3 days for their brunches. And Cheryl is trying to get it for her anniversary. Who knows who else out there is trying also.

Not us Moms. We've done it a couple of times, so we "graciously" ;) decided to let others have a chance.
No thanks necessary, just buy me a Konk Kooler. :rotfl: :rotfl:

(I am teasing of course!!!)

Hi K! I'm not sure what port you're looking at, but the only dolphin observer excursion that I see listed is in Puerto Vallarta.

Welcome!

Congrats on getting a cabin. Just jump in and join in on the conversion whenever you can.

If you haven't found it yet, we have a planning website at

http://www.thepiratezone.info

There is a lot of info there. If you click on the 3rd link of the home page, it will take you to a planning board. If you register there, you can get a lot of great planning info. We use that to keep the really important planning info that otherwise gets buried in these threads.

JINX! You owe me a beer! Gee, I hope I'm not so old that I'm the only one who remembers that saying!

Congrats on securing a spot on the cruise! Glad to have you with us. :)

Just checked there is a Cat 6 available - 2 adults and a 13 y.o. - $10,586.37 w/ins and transfers. And both early and late seating are available!
wow... I guess some people are cancelling instead of PIF- but gosh that is expensive. Really pays to book as early as possible huh?

Let me know if you want me to look something up in Salem. We're right next door!

Hi Gang,
I'll be checking in sporadically - but yesterday my FIL passed away so I've got a lot of family stuff to do.

BTW - WE ARE PIF

So sorry to hear about your FIL!

I just had to post a great, big Thank You to my Secret Mickey. When I came home from work today,I saw a note on the top of my mailbox. Thought ok,Kev must have a package that needs to be picked up at the post office.
Well,I pulled it off and it read "David's Florist" to "Debi Huffman" left at xxxx NE 47th St. (my neighbor). As I go and change clothes,I'm trying to think "Who sent me flowers and why?" :confused3
I went over and rang the doorbell and asked if there had been a delivery for me. "Yes,some very beautiful flowers!" I told her I had no idea who they were from or what the occassion could possibly be and that it better not be Kevin spending our vacation money! ;)
What a beautiful surprise I got when I opened the card...."Happy 100 days until the TOAL! I can't wait to meet you! Love, Secret Mickey" I wanted to cry. :sad1:
I only wish that I could take a picture and post it for you all(my puter is crashed,I'm on Kev's). I will have to describe it...White Roses,Light and Dark Pink Carnations,White Daisies, and Green Cone Flowers :flower3: . I promise to take a pic and post it when I get my carp together.

Thank you again. And I love you too!!

That is so awesome! :flower3:

We made it thru the ceremony! Everything went well and I am glad that is done. Below are some pictures of my DD and I at the ceremony.

This is me pinning my DD bronze Award on her vest. She did it!

and this is DD and I with her certificate for being the top seller of cookies in our area! 2176 boxes! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Great pics! Congrats!!! :cheer2:

what if you won't be getting the shirts? Can we still come up to meet everyone?

Chrissie

No shirt? I guess that's okay as long as we meet at the adult pool? :confused3

Seriously...If you weren't there, I'd be saying, "Hey where the heck is Chrissie???"

Well let me be the first to suggest that it be a Pirate's Brunch, just the gang of Pirates taking over Palo!

Good idea as usual Tom! After all everyone is welcome!!! :goodvibes

Woohoo that's wonderful news! Welcome!!! :yay:

I thought I read recently that any cruise that embarks in one port but debarks in a different port requires a passport???

I read the same thing but I'm not sure when it goes into effect.

Good idea Tom - I like "Pirate's Brunch". Yes, M is right that a brunch doesn't sound very piratey, but it's still a better name than Couples Brunch since there isn't any desire to exclude anyone.

Doesn't the private room have a limit on how many people fit? If we all just try to book our brunch for that same morning, we should be able to ask the Palo manager to seat us all together in the same part of the restaurant.

Should we actually pick a preferred date and a fall-back date in case we have trouble booking the first choice?

Welcome!
It is pretty much impossible to stay totally caught up with this thread! We all just do our best and check over at the Pirate Zone website for the "real" information.

Genealogy: DH has been very involved with this for a number of years - although he has slowed down somewhat for the last year or two. He still has his subscription to Ancestry.com, but has been thinking of letting it drop since he hasn't been using it much. He has traced both sides of my family up to the point they entered the USA from various parts of Europe. For most, we know where they came from, so to go any further back we need to go to Europe (specifically, Ireland, Scotland, England, Denmark, Russia and Germany - I am definitely a mongrel!) DH's family goes way back on one side to Revolutionary War times and he has most of that. On another side he hit a total block - his great-grandparents were divorced back in the 20's, great-grandma was so angry that she erased all record of her X (removed page from family bible, destroyed all records she had, destroyed all photographs, etc.) Although we do know his full name, he has been very hard to track down!

So I sent my final payment off to Dreams Unlimited today. Not that there's anything to get too excited about. After all we simply robbed Peter to pay Paul, but we're going! :rolleyes1

PJ Breakfast Poll

Hey Crew!

We're trying to decide what day would be most popular for our PJ breakfast at Lumiere's. Tom has a poll set up on the planning boards. Here's the link: http://www.thepiratezone.us/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=88 .

If you haven't voted yet, head on over there and let us know what day you think would be best. If you have already voted but changed your mind, Tom has the poll set up so that you can go in and change your vote if you want to. We'll keep the poll open through Friday afternoon, and we'll go with whatever the majority chooses. This way we'll have a decision by Friday night, so that if you want to plan Palo or spa ressies around it, you can.

Also, once we have a day chosen, I'll start a thread on the planning board for that day with a list of interested pirates. You'll be able to sign up there on the thread or PM me here on the DIS. I'll be sure to give you a reminder or two to vote, and I'll let you know next Friday what day won the poll and when you can sign up.
