It's a beautiful day here today -- mid 80's. And we are off to Six Flags for a few hours!

What city is the gathering. We love fireworks, so if we go, we will probably get a hotel for the evening. (It would probably be a 1.5 to 2 hour drive home.)

The festival is in West Chicago (a small suburb that is 30 miles due West of the big city of Chicago) but we don't really have any hotels here - however, most of the surrounding towns do. Probably the best bet would be St. Charles. There is a resort there named Pheasant Run and a Hilton Garden Inn. If you wanted to head a little north, there are a ton of hotels in Schaumberg (where Cheryl lives).

Great! I have actually stayed at Pheasant Run before for a convention. I had an older room. Interesting place and the kids would probably love it!

Pheasant Run is about 5 miles from my house (probably about 4 miles from the park) so it would certainly be an easy drive after the fireworks.

Discount dud fireworks....Sounds Dangerous ...where's this meet again?

I've been told that they totally re-wire the fireworks that did not go off at various July 4th displays and that they are as-good if not better than non "dud" fireworks. At least that is what people around town who are involved with the festival say!

West Chicago is a small town West of the big city (NOT the west-side of Chicago!) I would think that would be quite a drive from Ohio - but all Pirates are welcome!

Me, too! Glad Laura is posting it. I can see how the next couple of weeks are going to be - get everyone organized and out of the house , then check to see what's up with Laura and the Magic - then deal with the rest of my day. I'm human again - well, that may be a matter of debate but I'm back in the world of the living for now. Slept for over 10 hrs. Wow - just had to check in and say hi.

I'm a bit excited as we should be meeting up with Arlene and DH, Esteri and family - hopefully they get here safe and sound and we hope to eventually get to catch up with our own Capt Jack.

Well, off for now - DH just just got out of the shower so its my turn. You'd think that we were on vacation what with the hours we are carrying but no! This is normal every day stuff! Sometimes I can't get the man out of the house.

Maybe we should have an Ohio mini-meet. There seems to be quite a few of us around.

I have 100.6 days, or 2414 hours, or 144840 minutes.

But if you do a subtraction from 8/17 1600 when we sail you get 5/9 at 4pm for 100 days.

Thank for the info Andrew! Is the only glasswork they do there blowing or do they use other methods as well? We tend to be rather interested in glass since my parent's hobby is making stained glass windows and DH collects glass (mostly depression glass, some early American glass).

I have to say, as its a long time ago, I cannot remember all of the range they do, I can remember seeing the 'metal tube' where they blow down and with hot glass form ornaments, different colors ext, this is the only time I have seen that myself and was very interesting, and I enjoyed it, hence I want to go back.

I think your husband will enjoy it, and I think there was various items on display and available to purchase there, but it might have changed since I was last there.
