I sent info to DCL regarding Mass, and I asked if it could be listed in the Navigator and if they could donate the use of a microphone free of charge (otherwise, we would not use one)....here is the reply I just received:

No, we cannot put this in the Navigator.
We have to treat this as a private function so it will not be advertised.
I will advise the ship of the table, podium and chair set up. I will see if they can offer a microphone.

So, unfortunately, only those that read the DIS will be aware of the Masses.

Once on board, why not ask again? I've always heard that they print the Navigator's onboard, so maybe it could be added there. Another idea would be to ask the cruise director to announce it over the speaker system with their other events. Oh year, a 3rd idea - why not tell guest services so that if anyone asks about sevices they can be told about it?

Finally finished ketchup! Both arms are very sore as went for my vaccines today: typhoid, tetanus, polio, something else I hadn't heard of that was in the combi. It seems my Hep B I had 10 years ago is good for 25 years & came to the conclusion that Hep A was overkill, so no "I'm good to go"!

Congrats to all those PIF.

Still no cabin# for us.

I was starting to give up hope that I would hear back from DCL about this, but I did get an email today!!

Reply from DCL:

Good Morning Deanna,

We have held the Buena Vista Theater on deck 5 for the Mass services you requested.

Aug 24 at 9:00
Aug 31 at 8:00

How long do you need the venue for each day?
Also what set up will be needed in the room for the priest? Table, podium, chairs? Would you want these on the stage or at floor level in front of the theater seats? He will need to bring his own Mass supplies.

Please be advise there is a charge for the microphone of $125 and a tech fee of $50 which would need to be prepaid. Would he prefer a lapel mic or a hand held? There is no charge for the room.

May I have the name of the Priest and the room he is in if know. If you don't know the room number I can look it up by his name.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I will PM Father Mike to get the info they need from him, and I am also going to tell them we will not require a microphone afterall. I had not realized there would be such a large fee for that. ;)

Wow..that much for a microphone? Fr. Mike is going to have to pass the collection plate! :)
 
All done! I have managed to ketchup!


Went on a "field trip" for my daughter's school today. They recreated Ellis Island for the kids. These kids wouold never have actually made it..I have never heard so much "are we done yet?" "when do we eat" "why are we waiting so long??" We tried to explain how it really would have been but to no avail! It was very interesting and the kids dressed up.

But I am happy to be home..now I have to get everything together for our GS award ceremony tonight.

Now the big question . . .what cabin do we get? Has anyone else paid and gotten their GTY changed?? My TA (Dreams Unlimited) said she would try to get me a room when she did the final payment, but I guess there still weren't any!

As far as I am aware no , but if choosing the mangrove tour in Columbia I would check, due to water etc,. Everything else should be your normal 'jabs'.


hmmm..thanks! We aren't taking the mangrove (although it looked interesting) and my DD is all up to date.. us adults on the other hand..not so sure! I guess they would let us know if we did.

I don't remember who posted it..i will see if I can find it. But DCL has a few excursions still showing and then not on the booking screen. I will see what I can find for you.

They usually have 1 item each day til they sell out. I bought a 30g refurbished Zune for $79.00. Love it !!!! On the woot offs, they take what is lying around and sell it til it is gone and then go on to the next one. Everyone usually waits for the bag o carp which quite honestly noone knows what they are buying but it is usually gone as soon as it comes up. It's kinda like the disboards. You obsessively pull it up everyday.:lmao:

I'm getting ready to drive on to SSR to meet up with the gang.

No Desiree, no shots are required for our trip. There was a discussion last year about getting a Hepatitis A vaccine just as added protection. At this point don't worry about it, they had to be started 6 months prior to leaving. Your DD should already be immunized with this.

I don't remember where your kids go to school. Did they move your start date up for the next school year? My kids are at St. Brendan and they moved our start date up by an entire week, so now they will missed 8 days of school instead of 3. This has me VERY stressed out. The school also has a strict policy that they will not give out work to any student until it has been taught in the classroom. They are going to come home to a ton of work. They are going into 4th and 7th grade.

On the booking screen? So that means someone (desiree?) was able to book already (like at 105 days out I assume) and it wasn't showing on there?

bag o carp that sells out quickly but no one knows what they are buying? How odd. I try never to buy things if I don't know what I'm buying. LOL

I also checked to see what is "currently" sold out and below is what is showing on the DCL site. Remember though...sometimes people cancel and things become available again!

That's great -- I wish it was't sooo early..... I know dh and the 2 little kids (10 & 7) aren't going to be able to make it to Mass! LOL!
DH has a rule at home.... *If you go to Mass before noon I'm not going.* :rotfl:
Now if they had midnight mass all year long he'ld go! :lmao:

I may be searching in the wrong place.I just looked under the cruise, then clicked on the ports, then clicked where it said that ports excursions and it's listed there. Where are you looking for "actual" excursions? That would help me a lot. are you saying that some things are already BOOKED UP before we even get to the castaway club members date of booking things? seriously? ugh

How can these be "sold out" already?
Seriously we better NOT go on another cruise where we can't go on atleast the dolphin swim for her. last time it was all cancelled due to hurricanes- how can it all be sold out already? how are people booking it so early? there are only so many suites- surely all the excursions can't be filled up already by only suite guests! (cat 1-3 right?)

I was able to book 105 days out so I am looking at the actual booking screens as tho I was going to book an excursion. I have called DCL in regards to one excursion to check and they informed me that if they are sold out it says "no reservations available" which is what I listed above. they said if it is not showing on the booking screen..it is not available as an excursion any longer.

As for sold out..I am not sure how many guests were alloted for each excursion. So I can't answer that. I was able to book at 105 day so everything was showing availabl when I went in but as I go back..some things are showing sold out. Only the suites are allowed to book and the Vow Renewals (which is what category I fit in) so I am not sure how many people that actually is.

Maybe you can try and book it still outside of DCL?
