Question: We have not been on the ship since they put in the Quest..my daughter is disappointed as she thought she had both the Lab and the Quest to hang out in and now she doesn't. What do they do in the Quest? What is the supervision (ok..that's actually my question). Any help you can provide would be appreciated!

My kids loved the Quest last time we were on the ship in Jan. 2007. It was a perfect middle ground as I had a 9, 11, 12, and 13 (almost 14) yo. They could all be together and they had 100% supervision when they were in the Quest, but could come and go as they chose and there was no check in or check out. (They let my DD9 in with no issues whatsoever). They were really only open a little during the day but had activites in the evenings. They had cups stacking races and challenges and all sorts of things. This was when Ocean Quest first started though, so things may have changed! Hope that helps!

I am so hoping my DS13 (turning 14 Nov. 4th) will be allowed to go to the teen club. I am not sure if they even check ages or not. It really changes the dynamics of our trip if he will be left out. He is only 13 months younger than DD14 and they won't be apart. And if DS13 isn't able to go, DS16 won't go either because he is really quiet and shy! Hopefully they will cooperate on the ship. I am not going to worry about it.

Doreen I don't think MR is joining us anymore. :guilty:

HMMM. I may have to give her a call..
I know she goes MIA for the winter months due to work and the kids.. When was the last time she was on line?? does anyone know?
She was really holding off to see if Terry was going to join us...:confused3

We are arriving in LAX on Wednesday and going to HoJos until Sunday. Getting a 3 day park hopper. and then Saturday renting a car to tour LA and
Hollywood.

How do you pack for 3 weeks in one suitcase? When
I booked my flight
I never read anything about this rate or surcharge and I just read the disclaimer.. it said nothing about a surcharge..
I guess I will just carry a bigger carry on x2...lol

Doreen

Hi Doreen, welcome back! MR hasn't been on since August:sad1:

I may be the one of the few who actually likes this change. My DS will have just turned 13 and he has two years left before high school. I'd much prefer him to be in with the 11-13 year group as he tends to hang out with those younger than him anyway as he's one of the oldest in his class.

That said, my 10 year old DS will be just a few weeks shy of his 11th birthday and he would be much better off in the 11-13 year old group. Let me know if your daughter gets into the stack as this would give me an indication if I could move my 10 year old up as well.

As I recall they let the younger kids into the stack whenever the teens are away visiting Ocean Quest, a movie or the sports area on Deck 10.

As others have said, you should be able to have the 10 year old move up since he's so close to the cutoff. My 11 yr old will be in that age group with your sons too. I think you said you were doing the 2 pm zip line in PV. It'll be good if they get to know each other in the clubs, b/c my guys say they are really excited about the zip line, but they'll probably need some encouragement. Now the girl, I'm not worried about. That kid has no fear. Although she'll probably want to do it in her formal dress!

HMMM. I may have to give her a call..

I talked to MR on another thread quite a while ago, and she was pretty sure that she wasn't going. We really miss her around here. If you talk to her, tell her Hi.

Don't even think of not going!!!!!!!!!!
dont_even_think_black_tshirt.jpg

Disney only pays minimum wage or a little above it!!:rolleyes1

Property Control is where all the real bargains are!!!!! :woohoo: Returns from the park and property from all the guests.:rolleyes1

No we're definitely going come "that really hot place" or high water! ;) We just took out another credit card with 0% financing for one year & paid off the Disney Visa so we can now charge the cruise. However, that means we better darn well pay off that other card before the year is out. Which should be no problem since DH has some checks coming in for holiday pay & money he gets for being a police officer with a degree. Plus I'll be getting that job!

I know the Disney Store pays beans, but it's better than the -0- wage I'm currently making & you get discounts right? That's something! :cool1:

They havent tested it as yet, My DD Alice would like to know as well, we will find out on the May repo and the Mexican 7 night trips I am sure.

We thought Alice (12) would be in the same club as Stephen ( currently 9, 10 at the end of the cruise), but looks like they will be split up again.

Oh boy & Cade will NOT be happy that he's separated from Stephen!

dear micmse & pdager....you guys are very caring people, having the
reflections of helping others. that is what i read over & over. by
ignoring the ongoings, your examples..set in motion...alot of "good"
reasons...for others to support and share their blessings, and even
the obstacles..facing us in life. there isn't alot of people "holding" those
ideas....you wrote about, per mr. disney's. i just can't help but wonder..
:rolleyes1
do you realize....how much what you wrote about....was reflected ,in your
daily life? by s/s [ signs & symptoms]. ...more than i think...you already
know? oh, inspiration, is your second nature.
[ you & ms. pbager, by observations. ]

oh, don't think... it is missed by others neither. :goodvibes

sooo.. what do you think about....mr disney & his insights ? and have
you wonder..who helped..him? family..his kids?

here's my take....,

all his investments...were about the value of children. i think he recognized
society, in general....have never given their situation much thought. [ even
today...those hurting children...do not received...what they deserved..in
comparsion to adults...is a sad fact.]. it paid..off....because.., there were
people like yourself, with the same ideas, that not only "could but did" ,
influenced others.

..in our family....it was passed on ..being a parent encompasses 2 main
ideas. one being you are an educator and second is being a protector.
taken to heart, explained...our interests...going on a disney vacation.

every life..has a journey to make...including the concepts mentioned by
mr. disney. [ one becomes what they chose to practice....& if that has
any merits...than chosing the things today, one will want to remember
tommorrow...will prduced the desired results. ]. however, sometimes..
one will be redirected...by "faith"..not necesarily..fate. & thats where
i got to be where iam @ today.

faith to me, is not religion...rather the purpose for religions. by my
experiences, it best can be defined, for me, "what" i believe..in my
heart. oh..i don't pretend..to walk on water, rather..i know someone
that does...

on a side..note..."regarding the things..giving me inspirations....
[ i sorta lazy] , i never had no intentions.,..for doing the type of
work..i am doing today...but thru interacting, i 've learned these
2 things..faith & reality orientation...have produced my best outcomes.
..just recently..a pt., that i haven't seen in over 8years...felt it was
imprtant..to let me know..."the insights"..you gave me..are not only
true..but they worked!". you can bet they will be continue...

further...i can remember...back..in the early 80's..it was decided that
the old dick & jane..stories..were no longer....valued for children growth
& development. ha!..let, me make a lil'prediction..even a thousand years
into the furture..children will continue to have the same needs...as they
do today..& the same..when were growing up. * i knew...society...
was making a mistake..." not surprised..those girls..attacking..the one in
fla....:sad2: , * remember..it was engrained...growing..up..a parent is
a protector". should not have been surprise..the one mother's attitude
toward...the officer. she should 've been charged! * your rights..end
when your words/behaviors..begin ..to hurt others...when they tell you!

furthermore..when i first posted here?..i was called stupid...now what
kind of idiot...who enpowered themselves...by putting others down?
where i come from....those who must hurt others' feelings/physical
to make themselves..feel better about their being....are recognized,
mentally ill.., however, @ my age...seeking approval..isn't on my list.

finally...holey-wood...have no right...to manipulate...our mental health
needs. . they do it,to make$$$. but it is not reality, ever!...
terminator..she is in a made up "facility". no facilty i know of....has more
than one door ..to get out. they went..& got bodybuilders , dressed 'em
in..skin/tight white tees....& gave them billyclubs...almost as big as me.
reality, my co~workers...are females...& smaller than me. oh, when he
..licked..her..that's first degree assault.

and we are very sucessful, in reality,..maybe too much...as one of our
biggest challenges..is "scooting" them back out..as many, keep comimng
back...cos they like us. isn't that a hoot?, hollywood, #1...abuse?
always presenting..mental health..as the place of torture & everyone
trying to escape...ps, everyone has mental health. therefore, everyone
will have those types of problems..in time. here's the good news. there
are no persons..that we can't help..if they have the desire. bad news,
we cannot fixed..physical damage...truma, alizhimers, dementia. however,
there are alternatives..coping skills.

looked..@ charles m., ha! see it al the time...they are dangerous...
they reject any rspondibility for being crazy..cos they liked it!...ps,
no matter how many times..he rationize..his behaviors.., noticed?, he
uses the same..defense....every time....."you make me hurt you!".
reality is..no person..makes another..do anything. they only effect your
feelings..& here's a tip, its just as easy..to give others a reason to like
you...as it is not to. & the benefit..is self evident.

..again..the best ways..to influenced..others...isn't thru isn't force or
violence. act of kindness..are always held..in high esteem.

i think walt..was determined...because he had faith in what he believe
in. and the insights..to know they were based in reality. [ our children
are very valauble but they came with certain needs. that are their
parent's responsiblities.& could be supported...by creating a "safe haven"
to interact & share..with others]. but he also...knew..it wasn't enough,
..the value of "application"..was to demonstrate ....it by holding on.
for application, i think he knew...,it was where he would get the
power..for his dreams..to come true. now the rest is history but i
believe...his dreams..will always be worth..keeping..alive...passing on
to one generation after the next. :flower3:

..right now..i see there are politcs..& false proplets..mixing it together.
...listening...they are saying....having alot fun with hating. while iam
not that smart..i know hating & hurting others...produces god wrath.
and has nothing to do..with a true calling.
*what a sad & sick...message. how great mankind..are? when we still used
war as our primary controlling device. psst, there are more effective options
available...if we chose.

going to disney...isn't about hurting others...especially, by status.
nor is it required...to have my point of views..or anyone elses'. i believe,
it does behooves families..sharing their secrets, heir adventures, and their
feelings. i guess, i "fee" alot of values...in the ways...walt set up
disneyland..to support our family's mental health. but when i go, iam there
for fun..and a lil' pixiedust: for my family.

me?..i happened to think..life is a funny thing..so one's..sense of humor..
works there too! is this what you was thinking..ms. mismce? i'm curious,

;)

now.. back to our remodeling..and chasing..the turkeys..all over the vinton
hills..* you know?..justm?..where your daughter going to marry. beautiful.
:bride: . oh, on the 11-dayer....there were a few "turkeys"...runnning around
too..of all the places~

Looks like a lot of people could use a lesson from good ol' Walt! :sad2:

They have a list of children sailing and their ages based on your reservation and birthdays provided when the cruise was booked. I believe on the first night they check the names against their list but not sure after that

Dang- American Airlines just implemented $25.00 for over 1 bag. They are at least grandfathering those who already have tickets.

FORT WORTH, Texas - American Airlines on Monday became the latest carrier to announce that it would require passengers to pack light, or pay up.

The nation's biggest airline said it must charge passengers $25 for checking a second bag to help offset rising fuel costs.

The fee will apply to travelers who buy domestic economy-class tickets on or after May 12, American said. It will also affect passengers on the American Eagle commuter line.

This year, American, United Airlines, the nation's No. 2 carrier, Continental Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Alaska Airlines and JetBlue Airways have all announced charges for something that has been free since commercial airlines began flying.

Airlines are under immense pressure to shore up balance sheets with the price of fuel reaching unheard of levels. Oil futures hit another record near $120 a barrel on Monday. Gas prices hit a record above $3.60 a gallon.

American's parent, AMR Corp., lost $328 million in the first three months of this year, mostly because fuel costs increased $665 million, or 45 percent, over early 2007.

Fort Worth-based American didn't say how much it expects to raise with the fee, but JetBlue, a much smaller carrier, said it expects to generate more than $20 million this year with a $20 second-bag fee.

American said elite members of its frequent-flier programs, including AAdvantage Gold, AAdvantage Platinum and AAdvantage Executive Platinum, won't have to pay the second-bag charge. The fee also won't apply to full-fare economy, business and first-class tickets, or international trips beyond Canada and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Based on those exceptions, American said it expects about 4 percent of its domestic customers who check more than one bag will be charged the $25 fee.

So what they're basically saying is "The one's who can least afford it,will be charged the extra fee". Isn't that how it always works? :headache:

Oh boy & Cade will NOT be happy that he's separated from Stephen!

Well we had a working plan to get both of my two, into the 10>12 kids club, with Stephen being just weeks off being 10 on at the start of the cruise and actually being 10, on September 3rd, this looks like its gone out of the water, with Alice being in Ocean Quest, and Stephen being in the lower group, So presume Cade Will be with Stephen. X-Box 360 for 15 nights?

To confirm, Kids within 'one month' of the next age group are allowed into the higher group if they are considered mature enough for that group. They have the list of ages submitted from your reservation.

Disney monitors ages closely, for example in the parks when booking or attending a meal, and you have a hotel reservation, they pick up the kids ages on the ADR's. so they know if your kids should be eating adult food/prices at 12.

Hi Lil' G!

Nice to see you back over here. I told you on that other thread to give this repo thread a try again. Seems like pretty great people around!

Wow, that was quite a deep and meaningful post. I think the points you make about kids and values are so very true and so very difficult to explain with works.

I'll give you a recap of what I think works...

Kindness and patience! And of course, the golden rule "treat others as you would want to be treated".

We all make mistakes and parenting sure has many challenges, but do the best you can, teach goodness and appreciation and give lots of hugs.

Have a great day LG! :)

Thanks for the info.I know she will have fun. I think she is just disappointed beacuse she loved the Lab and was looking forward to getting to do it one last time as she will be 12 in Jan. and we won't be back on a DCL for awhile.

For anyone taking DCL transfers from DL Resort to the port:

I spoke with DCL today, the buses are scheduled to begin leaving the DL Resort area around 12noon (12:10 from Paradise Pier is confirmed) and are asking that people check in 15 minutes prior to departure.

Hi LG!!! I've missed reading your posts. They always make me pause and think about some things. Now don't be disappearing again:goodvibes

Unless it will change.... There's only like one or two activities at night. (ie nothing during the day like the Lab) They don't stay open long hours either...Activity then nothing...

No one signs in or out....

My DD hated it there at 13... Because the girls she was hanging with were still 12 and could do club activities.... (Since she was only a young 13; the kids in the stack didn't interest her either and the Stack events happened way too late at night for her)

If she were sailing with us, she would have had fun though this time...PITY:rolleyes1

Man, this group talks alot.

Interesting reading about the club ages. Not sure how it's going to affect my two right now. I liked the idea of them having two areas to choose from. DD is 12 and DS is 13 (turning 14 in early Oct). DS will be disappointed a bit about not going to the Stack. At least we are on the last cruise and DCL should have any issues resolved by then. Hope they have lots of activities for the kids to do.

Saw somewhere in my travels that they were doing some Mexican themed activities with kids but not sure if it applied to the REPO cruises or what ages. They were going to do Pinatas, Mexican Hat dance and churros?

Congrats, Cheryl and John on the PIF. We paid last week. Time is sure going by fast now. Several WB Repo Trip Reports started.

Still working on excursion plans for Puetro Vallarta, Acapulco and Cartagena. It'll be interesting to see how things go on the 19th.
