Here's thinking there are going to be some mighty :sad1: 13 yo's on DCL

Hey Doreen - glad to hear that everything is working out and that you will definatley be coming on the trip. Now we just need to hear from Mary Rose so we can have a reunion from the Hurricane Francis trip - I know Darlene is also going.

OH NOT! Not more hurricane magnets! Just kidding! (But did you read Tom31b's signature?:scared1: ) Nice to see you Ginny.

I had sent an email to Guest communications a while ago about the ages of the kids in the clubs based on a post about them changing it for the summer

age breakdowns are as follows:

Oceaneer Club will continue to be the home base for the 3 to 7 year old
children.
Oceaneer Lab is used for children 8 to 10 years of age.
Ocean Quest will be used for the 11 to 13 year olds.
The Stack will be reserved for teens 14 to 17 years of age.

Thanks for sharing this info. That could potentially upset some kids who won't be in the same group as their friends anymore.

Disney Cruise Line Fuel Surcharge Decision

Due to continually rising fuel prices, Disney Cruise Line® is implementing a fuel surcharge.

The surcharge* is $8 per person, per day for the first two Guests in a stateroom and $3 per day for all other Guests. It is effective for new bookings only made on or after May 28, 2008. Additionally, the surcharge will be capped at $112 each for the first and second Guests in a stateroom and $42 each for all other Guests in the stateroom.

Travel Agents should implement additional procedures to ensure that they disclose the exact amount of the applicable fuel surcharge to Clients before they make a decision to book a Disney Cruise Line vacation.

* U.S. Dollars

DH was trying to read this to me on the phone. It was bound to happen:confused3

I don't blame any company for adding the surcharges, but I would rather they just increase the fares to cover them instead of them just tacking on extra charges and it's not like they will actually ever go away. I have yet to have any of my vendors take any surchages off or reduce them once they were implementd :confused3

ITA. This whole surcharge thing is silly. Yes, fuel costs more. I get that. They seem to think that by adding a "surcharge" instead of just increasing the price of the cruise, someone else (i.e. oil companies, Dick Cheney) will take the blame.

At least they are setting a date and charging new booking after that date, unlike most of the airlines and their additional baggage charges.

Love the cap though. I'm no math wiz, but doesn't the cap only apply to cruises longer than 14 nights? Umm, so that's only the 2 repos that are already completely booked. Right? Don't get me wrong, I'd be excited about saving the $22, I just thought it was interesting that they also want to seem generous by offering a cap on the surcharge.

Food prices are also rising...there's another revenue stream for DCL. :)

Yep - my DD being one

She will actually be shy of her 14th birthday by 2 weeks onboard boarding. She turns 14 four days after we get off the ship.
I emailed them asking if she could go to the stack due to her age and the fact that she is starting high school in September

Just got this from RCCL about fuel surcharges
*FOR ALL NORTH AMERICA RESERVATIONS MADE BEFORE MAY 1, 2008, A FUEL SUPPLEMENT OF $5.00 PER PERSON, PER DAY WILL APPLY (SUBJECT TO A MAXIMUM OF $70.00 PER PERSON). FOR RESERVATIONS MADE ON OR AFTER MAY 1, 2008, A FUEL SUPPLEMENT OF $8 PER PERSON, PER DAY FOR THE FIRST 2 GUESTS IN A STATEROOM (SUBJECT TO A MAX. OF $112 PER PERSON) APPLIES; EACH ADDITIONAL GUEST IN THE STATEROOM WILL BE CHARGED $3 PER PERSON, PER DAY (SUBJECT TO A MAX. OF $42 PER PERSON).

Looks like DCL and RCCL implemented the same thing.
(We get accused as price fixing too with our gas prices)

Hope everyone had a great weekend. We finally managed a weekend day that didn't include a Girl Scout event...tried to beat the heat and went for lunch and a walk by the ocean...breezy and 98 degrees! It was nice just to spend the day doing not much of anything!

We did manage a trip to Company D (it's an outlet for Cast members here). I found some goodies for the FE :woohoo: ..the CM wanted to know if they were for family and friends for Xmas..I informed them they were for the cruise..they looked at me like I was insane! (OK..so there were SEVERAL items) all I can say it's a good thing I get to catch the ship here instead of trying to fly with all of this stuff!

Have a great night!

I loved Company D!!!!:cloud9: Are you a cast memeber??:confused3

According to your post, she should be able to. It says as long as they are within a month of the minimum age they are able to move to the next level.:)

Has anyone ever tried these:

I may have to pick some up and give them a try. I'm thinking the Mad Tea Party at DL will make a good proving ground.

Hey, hope they don't start charging for my Cove Cafe snacks!

Pirate:ing the Happy Wishes!!

Thank you for all the BIRTHDAY WISHES.

What makes you think they could keep up here when not on the Magic??? ;)

Because they should be enjoying a well earned break and I think it would be bit ''sad' if they did, anyway, I knew you were watchnig over us!!!:thumbsup2

The pictures of the mini-meet look like so much fun. I am so jealous of all of you from the south.

Hopefully your airline adjusts your departure time by even a little. This was all that I needed to cancel and then rebook for the lower rate.

I am in a similar situation to you. I just feel so much better when I have travel insurance especially when the trip is this expensive.

Good point. (Rebook with Virgin):thumbsup2

My DH works at the studio buildings in Burbank. He works for Buena Vista home Entertainment at the moment. We love our perks! We also have a public Disney Outlet here and will be checking that out this week.

Silly me... I wuz in such a hurry earlier today. I took you litterially... at any rate when we got to the theater I found they had changed the show times - and I failed to take note of that the other day. So we scrambled to run to another theater near by so we could make a showing without having to change any other plans today!
:thumbsup2

With the Disney Stores going back to the Disney Company, I'm going to be a CM again! At least I will until they make a decision about what they're going to do with the "per diem" people, since it's a position that was created by the Children's Place. Disney did have us fill out new paperwork to stay on as CM's, but I don't think the managers are allowed to schedule us after May 1st until they hear from Disney. I could actually give the required availability for most of the summer so that I could be a CM for our trip. When I come back to my rotations, I know I can't give them what they need. I'm hoping they keep the position and just retitle us "Seasonal", which is a job title that they already have.

ETA: I also love Property Control at WDW!!!

Sounds like a fun place to shop:goodvibes

It is fun..you have to be careful not to go a little crazy..next week is their usual prices (which are normally 50% off) plus 25% additional off..I thought about waiting to get my stuff (I found this out when we were checking out) bu the problem is..you aren't sure what they will have week to week.

I just have to keep reminding myself..I don't need it.i don't need it! :rotfl2:
