Hey Doreen - glad to hear that everything is working out and that you will definatley be coming on the trip. Now we just need to hear from Mary Rose so we can have a reunion from the Hurricane Francis trip - I know Darlene is also going.

NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(got my stimulus $$$ deposited today.... hmmm need to apply that to my cc so i can PIF)

Hello, again, everyone! We have also been MIA for the last few months; however, I have enjoyed reading this thread when I have time. If you ever felt that there was someone out there "lurking" on the boards, yes, it likely was me ... The stalking will stop soon, I promise!

I am trying to get a grip on what we are going to "try" and book at the 90 window for our excursions. In reading the May repo thread, specifically, the excursion bookings and how that went for them, I am going to make sure I have planned ahead. I did not read anything about the "Trainer for a Day" and if people had a hard time in booking that excursion. Given that there are only 12 "trainers", does anyone know if this books up early for those in Cat's 1 to 3?? We are hoping to book this for our 12 year old daughter as a birthday gift (her birthday is just after the 90 day mark). I will make sure we have a back up plan, however, if anyone has any infomation on this excursion I would love to hear about it.

We look forward to meeting everyone in a few months. I also thank all of you for the information you may not realize has been helpful to those of us that read more and post less.

Have a great Monday, everyone.

Michele

Do we know how the sizes run? I looked at both the first page of this thread and the link you provided but it doesn't mention if the tshirts are more fitted or run bigger. If anyone can let me know so that when we place the actual order I will know what sizes to order

Thanks

They run big according to the samples ...

I wonder about this booking up as it is pretty expensive! I think it is a wonderful gift idea and I hope you are able to get it! GOOD LUCK!

Hello poohmom!

You are right it is expensive -- this will be Nicole's ONLY gift from us for her birthday. I know that most are calling this a Trip Of A Lifetime and for Nicole this will definately be an experience of a lifetime. If the "Trainer for a day" is booked, we will book another dolphin experience for the three of us. I am sure no matter what happens, it will work out great! We have friends that have done the interaction with the dolphins and they all had great things to say about the experience. I don't know anyone that has done the Trainer program and my concern would be that it makes for a long day. I would love to find out what participants thought.

Look forward to meeting you, poohmom.

Do you know if it was offered in 2005? If yes, ask on this thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1803804

The wisdom of Walt Disney

“Somehow I can’t believe there are any heights that can’t be scaled by a man who knows the secret of making dreams come true,” Disney said. “This special secret, it seems to me, can be summarized in four C’s. They are Curiosity, Confidence, Courage, and Constancy and the greatest of these is Confidence.”

Disney spent three difficult years working on the production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. No full-length animated feature had ever been done before, let alone in full color and with music. Neither his competitors nor his associates nor even his own wife believed that he could make it a success. Originally budged at $500,000, the project had gone over budget by half a million dollars in its early stages. Plagued with health problems throughout the project’s life, Disney was forced to act out the film’s story in front of bankers in order to secure the additional loans he needed to finish it. In the end, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs went on to earn four times the box office of any other film when it was released in 1938.

It was Disney’s passion for his project and determination to finish it no matter what that made it such a success. And, it was this characteristic of Disney’s that he carried with him throughout his career. “When you believe a thing, believe it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably,” Disney said. “When we get into a new project, we believe in it all the way. We have confidence in our ability to do it right. And we work hard to do the best possible job.”

Throughout Disney’s career, he was constantly being challenged with setbacks, criticism and those who questioned his abilities. One of his most laughed at ideas was Disneyland; few investors saw the financial possibilities of building a 330-acre theme park in California. “Disneyland is a work of love,” said Disney. “We didn’t go into Disneyland just with the idea of making money…we did it in the knowledge that most of the people I talked to thought it would be a financial disaster – closed and forgotten within the first year.” Rather, Disneyland, like all of Disney’s business ventures, was a work of passion and love, the result of which was a monumental success.

“When we opened Disneyland, a lot of people got the impression that it was a get-rich-quick thing, but they didn’t realize that behind Disneyland was this great organization that I built here at the Studio,” said Disney. “And they all got into it and we were doing it because we loved to do it.” Despite its success, Disney had an even harder time trying to launch Walt Disney World years later but knew enough from his past experiences not to give up.

“When you’re curious, you find lots of interesting things to do,” Disney said. “And one thing it takes to accomplish something is courage.” Disney had the courage to follow his dreams. He ignored the critics and the disbelievers to become one of the most significant and successful entrepreneurs of the 20th century.

“If you can dream it, you can do it.”

The information that is passing on that thread is fantastic for those of us not knowing our exact plans for each port. Again, thank you!

I don't blame any company for adding the surcharges, but I would rather they just increase the fares to cover them instead of them just tacking on extra charges and it's not like they will actually ever go away. I have yet to have any of my vendors take any surchages off or reduce them once they were implementd :confused3

This stinks.... for large families this is going to cause some people not to book a cruise..:sad2: We have a family of 5 and were thinking about rebooking while on board -2 connecting rooms - it will add almost $500 to our trip. Ouch!

That is so fitting in my life right now. I am struggling with my DS16. He is so very smart, he has 6 of 8 classes that are honors classes including Honors biology AND honors Chem :scared1: and he has no study hall. He keeps having missing assignments and it is killing his grade. First semester, he did awesome, but now, he thinks school is boring and just doesn't seem to care. He is the most wonderful kid (besides turning in assignments). He helps out with my DD3 all the time, reading to her at night and getting her ready for bed. He helps his other siblings with their homework and all around, he is a fantastic kid. But he just doesn't seem to get it. And, he really wants to go to MIT, which he would have to be at the top of his class. There is no way that he will get in unless he knocks this off right now!

I copied this and sent it to him in an email.

I hear you. Disney's fuel charges are higher then other cruise lines
Most other cruise lines are only adding the surcharges to the 1st and 2nd person in the room and depending on the length of the cruise are either $25 per person (shorter cruises), $50 or $70 per person on 7nt sailings. More on longer cruises

Hi Michele!

I am a Nicole too!! Funny!

I would have loved to do that, (in fact, I still would love to do something like that.) We have done a few Dolphin experiences and the kids and I really enjoyed it. But I do think that spending a whole day doing that for a more in depth experience would be sooooooo neat! I hope it works out for you!

I had sent an email to Guest communications a while ago about the ages of the kids in the clubs based on a post about them changing it for the summer

Here is their reply

Thank you for your e-mail.

We truly welcome your observations and suggestions on ways in which we
can improve our cruise experience, particularly your thoughts on The
Stack. Please allow me to explain that based upon feedback from our
guests, we plan to test utilizing the Ocean Quest space on the Disney
Magic as the base for the 11 to 13 year old age group this summer. The

age breakdowns are as follows:

Oceaneer Club will continue to be the home base for the 3 to 7 year old
children.
Oceaneer Lab is used for children 8 to 10 years of age.
Ocean Quest will be used for the 11 to 13 year olds.
The Stack will be reserved for teens 14 to 17 years of age.

As you may know, we offer the largest area of children's space of any
ship afloat and the largest number of children's counselors at sea.
Planned activities will continue to remain age-specific for children
3-17 years of age. Children may choose as many or as few organized
activities as they prefer. Concurrently, a child may participate in an
older age group as long as the child is within one month of the minimum
age and is potty-trained. For example, a 7-year old wants to join the
8-9 age group and is within a month of turning 8.

Following our West Coast sailings this summer we will again evaluate the
various age breakdowns to ensure the continued satisfaction of our
guests. However, please know that your feedback is very important to
us, and your remarks will be evaluated along with those received from
other guests. We will continue to strive to provide our guests with the finest vacation and entertainment experiences, and we are very grateful
for your valuable input to help us achieve that goal.

Again, thank you for sharing your experiences with us. We look forward
to the chance to welcome aboard you and your family again one day soon.
