Wow! That's cool. DIS'ers helping DIS'ers!

OMG! People astound me. :sad2:
There is a story on the news today about a woman who ran out of gas on a freeway so she left her 1 YO and 1 MONTH old :scared1: in the car while she went for gas.
They did not say how long she was gone but it must have been a while.

Great idea - but what about those of us in the communal lifeboat i.e. still gty- do you think they have fish too????

Celestine

Hi Celestine -- people can sign up even if they are still GTY and then we will update as people get cabin assignments . . . the final list can be sent out a few weeks before the cruise when everyone should have assignment. We should also set up someone's cabin door as a place where cabin reassignments get posted in case someone gets reassigned at the port . . .

I remember when Stephen didn't get the kid exchange gift . . . I didn't realize that he NEVER got it, just that it wasn't at the Dis get-together when everyone was getting them. I know your book was a very nice and generous gift . . . I'm just glad I didn't win it!

We will try to take care of your PM, as well as the Pope later this week . . . but I do believe we plan to return both of them, so I'm afraid you will get PM Brown back . . .

By the way, I did like seeing him pledge 20 million malaria nets to Africa on "Idol Gives Back" last week . . . that's 1/6 of what would be needed to protect everyone in Africa and a very generous gesture by the British people (whether you actually agreed with doing it or not!) . . .

Stephen did get a present a lot later, in the cruise, but coned me into a present before that.

Gordon brown -0 Pope -10. (TV Coverage):rolleyes1

Those rotations will not, I repeat, WILL NOT be on the repo's. DCL is doing them for the Mexican Rivieria and put them into rotation ahead of time to iron out the kinks. We will have the normal APL, LAP or PLA (repeated X times).

As for WHEN we can expect the rotational dining...I did a little research on this over the weekend (thanks to Andrew and his navigators from last time) and I predict the following:

Sunday (Embarkation Day) - Let The Magic Begin
Monday (Day 2) - Taste of California
Tuesday (Day 3) - Mexican
Wednesday (Day 4) - Golden Mickey's
Thursday (Day 5) - Master Chef
Friday (Day 6) - Rotational
Saturday (Day 7) - Rotational
Sunday (Day 8) - Rotational
Monday (Day 9) - East Meets West
Tuesday (Day 10) - Around the World
Wednesday (Day 11) - Pirate
Thursday (Day 12) -Tropical
Friday (Day 13) - Prince & Princess
Saturday (Day 14) - Captain's Gala
Sunday (Day 15) - Til We Meet Again
:thumbsup2

haven't finnished ketchup so apologies if this has already been asked, but in our case we are CC members & are linked to my parents reservation who are not CC members. will I have more than trouble than everyone else 90 days out, or will it know to only allow the 4 of us to book then & my parents at 75 days?

Celestine

IF linked correctly all can book at 90 days just needs one CC memeber to it.

Take a 'benchmark' this week that WB repo cruisers who had GTY have now been assigned, about 5 weeks before the cruise, with some upgrades.

Good, if we get assignments for those on GTY status by the second or third week of July, we will have no trouble getting fish extender final lists ready for the beginning of August . . .

And the Pope wins!!!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Sorry PM Brown, better coverage next time . . .

Yep our TV news say most of you Americans do not know who he is, and even most of congress, so Pope is better known and wins,

Most of the WB repo cruisers posting on my Panama planning thread seem to be very happy with assignments. A lot occurred last week. Another has just posted they have theirs. (CAT 4)

how it can be snowing today yet the temperature outside is in the 40's? Obviously I'm not a meteorologist, but I would think we'd see light rain instead of flurries. Maybe it's colder in the upper atmosphere which I thought caused hail. Oh well...80's yesterday, snow today.

Also, thanks for the kind thoughts from everyone regarding yesterday's gout flare-up. It was my worst, but I'm a lot better today. I guess the preventative medicine at least helps keep them shorter. Nonetheless, I'm heading back to the doctor to see about upping my dosage as she started me out small to see how I do.

Good to know. I've been busy working on my FE (DH thinks I've finally lost the plot & the kids think I never had it any way), so we're almost good to go!

I look forward (NOT) to putting it to the test having gotten up far too early on Monday morning to watch a scuba diving Mickey! Trying to plan a strategy - think I'll aim for the Palo brunch first & then go from there as most the excursions we want are not snorkel/scuba type so hopefully won't fill too quickly.

It should work 90 days out, did you get your Cruise planning letter it will quote the date on that, did you have one or two letters, what date was on them?

I'd like to propose making customized Magnetic Dry Erase boards with dry erase pen for every DIS cabin on our voyage. On my last DCL sailing we had a few kind folks contribute these to the group - and we were able to jot endless little messages to one another with these dry erase memo boards which were magnetically stuck to the front of the cabin door. Also, they were usable for memos' back home on the fridge - so they made useful custom souveneers afterwards!

The only thing is it costs something to put this together and distribute. I've already got things priced very economically for 3.5" x 9" boards with pen and magnets at the corners. I am looking for maybe 2 or 3 folks to step forward to help with the cost and for labor in distributing them on the ship. It's been recently estimated by Tom31 that we have 150-175 cabins - so each of us will be handling maybe 37-44 or 50-60 cabins... depending upon how many volunteer and how many cabins we actually have.

If anyone is interested in sharing this project with me - please PM and I'll fill in with the details (cost is estimated at perhaps $25-33pp with 3 or 2 contributing). I've already ordered the magnetic dry erase boards somewhat similar to that pictured above as I found a great deal with them on clearance! The difference is the size is 3.5x9" and they take a business card sized printing area. Now for selecting the printing and design work. That is going to be the 1st consideration for our little Task force.

Just wanted to post a THANK YOU to the neighbors who volunteered to staff the TASK FORCE for running the Magnetic Memo Board Project.

SPECIAL Thanks to

Now we have to get to work to put this thing together!

So I assume they'll be transfering those "special" portable mini safes from cabin to cabin too? And what of my fish extender and the the semi-permanent door decorations with my cheap christmas lite array.... they will HAVE to remove the cabin door and move it to my new cabin too in order to do this right .... right? That is - after they pry off the cabin number from the door to replace it with my new cabin number. OR.. perhaps it would be best to keep the cabin number on the original door and just post a ships map with my new location for our cabin - that way we'll only have to remember ONE cabin number, eh?

Ah, I just got an update. The folks at Inventory Control (who are next door to revenue maximization) saw your suggestion. They will be combining both approaches - sometimes moving the contents of the rooms (including safes, fish extenders, etc.) and sometimes just renumbering cabins - in both cases the idea will be to maximize the amount of running around by passengers.
You will see a new fee for this service on your stateroom bill - the web site shows this as the:

"Cabin relocation fitness program: Exclusively for GTY passengers and those who participate in fish extender gift exchanges, this program presented by our health and fitness staff is sure to keep you ship-shape throughout your cruise. The cost of this service is a nominal $50/cruise ($90 for cruises of 7 days or longer) and can be combined with our extensive selection of spa foot treatments (which you'll need) for a 10% discount."
