I look forward (NOT) to putting it to the test having gotten up far too early on Monday morning to watch a scuba diving Mickey! Trying to plan a strategy - think I'll aim for the Palo brunch first & then go from there as most the excursions we want are not snorkel/scuba type so hopefully won't fill too quickly.

Celestine

I am also trying to decide the 1st things I will go for.
The Palo reservation I am live without. I had brunch there and would be perfectly fine if I did not secure a reservation.
I know I want spa treatments but do not know when and which ones.
I at least know I want DCL Cartegena excursion and Acapulco due to time limitations.

So.. I guess I will go for excursions 1st and let the chips fall where they may from there.

From what I have seen before on all my cruises the shore trips go fast, early ones, anything with Dolphins, etc, and there is less chance of getting these on board.

Palo, you have a back up to get to the cruise port early, and try there, or try each day for a cancellation.

Cartegena excursion people I think will go for due to security, Acapulco, Cici went fast last time, I gota late afternoon one, but you can have a walk about there.

This could very well be a groundhog post...it seems like a familiar question, but I don't remember the answer.

If we want to mail postcards from the ports, what type of stamps do we use? I would guess we would have to get some from that country, since that's where it's being mailed from.:confused3

Local ones, -now I found a post office in Acapulco, not far form the port a main sorting office, and posted some there, DCL had Panama canal ones on board at guest services and you could buy post cards in the shop and leave it with them to post.

Ah, I just got an update. The folks at Inventory Control (who are next door to revenue maximization) saw your suggestion. They will be combining both approaches - sometimes moving the contents of the rooms (including safes, fish extenders, etc.) and sometimes just renumbering cabins - in both cases the idea will be to maximize the amount of running around by passengers.
You will see a new fee for this service on your stateroom bill - the web site shows this as the:

"Cabin relocation fitness program: Exclusively for GTY passengers and those who participate in fish extender gift exchanges, this program presented by our health and fitness staff is sure to keep you ship-shape throughout your cruise. The cost of this service is a nominal $50/cruise ($90 for cruises of 7 days or longer) and can be combined with our extensive selection of spa foot treatments (which you'll need) for a 10% discount."

Dan,

You forgot to mention that guest services is about to institute a FAST PASS line for service at their desk. With all the cabin reshufflings they're already certain of the long lines for gues services .... and they are reducing their staffing levels to maximize the wait. SO... the FAST PASS line is a wonderful new convenience for a nominal fee, of course.

Oh... and there is also a fee for productive service.. right? Just getting to the front of the line is just the beginning, eh?

You can have a Dream fastpass, to ensure you get to Guest services, but I understand GS are taking training from our Terminal five, and there might be a wait of a few days or weeks, whilst they find out what is actually happening, and then send it to Italy to process.

That's good to know. Thanks Andrew!

how it can be snowing today yet the temperature outside is in the 40's? Obviously I'm not a meteorologist, but I would think we'd see light rain instead of flurries. Maybe it's colder in the upper atmosphere which I thought caused hail. Oh well...80's yesterday, snow today.

Also, thanks for the kind thoughts from everyone regarding yesterday's gout flare-up. It was my worst, but I'm a lot better today. I guess the preventative medicine at least helps keep them shorter. Nonetheless, I'm heading back to the doctor to see about upping my dosage as she started me out small to see how I do.

I was wondering about that prevention medicine. Seems to me they should call it something else. It sure didn't prevent you from having an attack. Glad you're feeling better now.

Cool, I'm all set, I've already got a set of those.

Just saw this from the Aca Port Dude on Cruise Critic

We start the pier expansion mids of May 2008, and will have only one berth available for 1 cruise ship; the second or third vessel must anchor.
We are expecting to finish the entire pier expansion in May 2009. Yeap, 1 year, although, one of the contractors quoted to have the pier 100 % operational in January 2009, I've seen these type of project else where and doubt it will be done so fast. So cross your fingers and lets hope all runs smooth, I am sure to get a few grey hairs this year.

Does anyone know how to find out what other, if any, ships will be there when we are?

Never got around to posting a picture of the our 2 DD's All District Music Festival last week. They had to split it up into 2 nights each with 600 students each. They were awesome.

That's really neat Roger....which one's yours? ;)

I just went and looked up the name and found that they have stopped their mail order business that was out of Winter Park. However, I also learned they have a store in Orlando (no mail order) where they sell frozen cornish pasties and scottish meat pies. The name is "The Brittish Shoppe" at 809 N Mills.

At least there is still one mail order place left - also in Florida - it is in Cape Coral and is called Cameron's.

Pamela

Lots of British shops around now. I will have to check it out :thumbsup2

Hey Kristina, I finally got around to watching your work video the other day. It is great to put a picture and voice to a name. You looked marvelous.:cool1:

Thanks for posting the link again! I'll catch it tonight after I get home

Here's the thread talking about them in DL

On post #78, page 6, someone got an email from Disney. If they are ordered by April 30 they will be placed in August.

That is really nice Monica:goodvibes

On another note, even though I was put on anti-gout medication last month, I had my worst flare-up ever tonight. It came on fast and I was literally in tears from the pain....Two anti-inflammatories, one hydrocodone and an icepack later, it's now tolerable enough for me to concentrate on doing some ketchup here. I know gout is nothing compared to everyone else who has serious issues...It's more of a huge nuisance than anything. It is frustrating as my DW and I had been getting up and working out this past week.

Hope you get to feeling better soon!:flower3:

I hear for the new ships they will be introducing an electronic KTTW card with an ultra-flat LCD display. You won't know your next dining location until five minutes before dinner time, at which point it will start flashing the letter on the card.

Not only will the restaurant be assigned randomly, but your table will as well - adding to the suspense and excitement of the trip and increasing the opportunities to meet new people.

I understand they are also considering random cabin assignment on longer cruises - where you'll go on excursions and when you get back your KKTW card will flash your new cabin number (cabin staff will already have moved your luggage to your new room). This will be done for all GTY passengers who didn't know where they would end up in the first place.
