Hey everybody...............just a quick update on the DELTA situation. DH called them again this morning, spoke with yet another supervisor who finally said he would give us a full refund on our tickets even though they are non-refundable. See what we found below in the Contract of Carriage.

SO, DH went back to the flight schedules and found tickets with AirTran for a little less than we were originally paying but we have flights again!

"D. Amendments to Conditions of Carriage
1. Amendment by Delta
Delta may amend these Conditions of Carriage at any time. Your travel
will be governed by the rules that are in effect on the date your
travel begins. In the event that we amend these Conditions of Carriage
in a way that materially affects the terms and conditions of your
ticket purchase after you have purchased your ticket but before your
travel begins, and you do not agree to be bound by the rules as
amended, you may request a full refund of your ticket price."

I am glad it all worked out for you!!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

Yes, you have to cancel your first reservation in order to get the "credit". Then you immediately rebook and use that credit to pay for the new booking. The credit is attached to the confirmation number of your cancellation. Any "excess" is saved under your confirmation number for 12 months and can be used to partially pay for a future trip.

Also, to ensure there are six seats available, just type in six passengers while checking prices. If a price shows up for six seats at the lower fare, there are six seats available at that fare. If it says that it's unavailable, all fares in that category are sold out.

There is a slight risk that fares could go up or disappear while you're in the rebooking process. The way I have found to prevent this is to only rebook using "ding" fares. I've never had an issue booking everyone in our party at the advertised "ding" price. Unfortunately, the "dings" only go out to about late May right now. We booked our Denver to LAX fare at $99 per person. In May and June, I'll carefully watch the dings and if they go down to $79 or less one way, I'll rebook at the lower fare. I've been watching and occasionally see "ding" fares for $69 one way to LAX from Denver.

If you don't travel a lot, this process may not save you anything as you have to use the credit within 12 months. However, as you haven't booked the leg home from the TOAL, you could rebook your leg to Los Angeles at a lower fare and use the savings to reduce the cost of your flight home.

Thanks for explaining that. I know my mom does it all the time, but she is usually only buying one ticket. As far as the credit being good for 12 months from your cancellation and rebooking date...can you use it to pay for another flight in that 12 month period (and can you then fly after the 12 months have passed), or do you actually have to pay for and fly on another flight in the 12 month period?

You're right...it may not be worth it for us since we rarely fly. I paid $111 per ticket from Houston to LAX before taxes and fees. And I will probably book our return trip before any "dings" to LA start showing up. But, if I do see a significant savings, I may try rebooking. With enough credit and another good "ding" fare, I could always be persuaded to go somewhere! :thumbsup2

I checked with TA (before I posted) & she said that it was for EB. I just wondered whether the "deck party" for Aruba was therefore the midnight buffet or whatever it is called?

Celestine

We received this same information this morning too but was waiting for clarification on whether it was for both sailings or just the WB. I just received an email back saying the following

"The following are a few of the entertainment options that will be offered for both 15-Night Panama Canal sailings"

As of right now it seems to be the same for both

Happy Belated Birthday Melissa!!!

Now that's, a cool cake! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Happy Anniversary Mike and Diane!!!

I have that cake topper! Kevin got it for me on our 25th anniversary. It was our first trip to WDW and 1st cruise. Little did we know then what an addiction this would become!. ;)

Thanks. We're booked. I just won't know until next year whether or not we'll be able to sail.

Just curious, how many times can you "move" your reservation before they say enough's a enough? We want to rebook while on this one, just not sure when we'll be able to actually take it. Really want to try for one of the new ships.

Not really sure. This is the first time I moved a reservation. In fact this is the first time I made a booking on board to be able to float it. As far as I know you can change as much as you need to. The CM who books on board knows that most of us are just booking a cruise to have in the bank.

Maybe when DCL has their two new ships sailing they will adopt a program like Princess has. With Princess cruise lines you can rebook for a future cruise and pay just a $100 per person deposit without actually picking a date. You then have 4 years to choose a sailing date. Of course the prices are whatever they are when you are ready to book but it holds your rebooked onboard status for 4 years and doesn't tie up inventory on a sailing that most people won't sail on anyway

To answer the question above I don't think that there is a pre-dermined date where you can no longer move your reservation to a future cruise

Good for you. I've seen so many complaints about the way Delta is handling this. I've got a friend going to WDW for 10 days in July. I had to tell her that she needed to learn how to pack light. She had no idea about any of the airlines changing their policy. She would have shown up at the airport with 2 bags and been very upset.

The way Delta is handling this is what really pushed us over the edge. It will also affect those who are traveling before that date and then coming back after that date. How mad I would be if I was able to check 2 bags going and one the way back had to pay an extra fee for extra baggage. Delta is just going about it all wrong. The front page of their website still shows 2 free bags per person - this is wrong!

AND How is that for my 500th post!

Thanks for the update and I'm glad it worked out for you! I'm printing this off and will be contacting Delta next week after I get my replacement Disney visa card (the card I bought them with to begin with). In the meantime, I'll be researching airfare again.

Good luck with this. When DH cancelled Delta said they had to send it back to the original card it was charged to. This is a credit card that we just sent a letter in to close so DH had to call the credit card company to let them know we were expecting a credit.

I assume you should have no problems since you still hold a card albeit with a different #. You may have to call the credit card company as well to let them know its coming.

One of Mom's minis had her baby yesterday! She called me at work to let me know that we had a beautiful silver and white girl on the ground and to please bring my camera over after work. I got over there about 2:00 and we went out to the back yard to see the little whippersnapper. Mom calls Sabrina(mare) up to the fence and I take a few pics. Then we decided to get a bit closer and all of a sudden Mom says "Is that what I think it is?" "CRAP, it's a boy!" She had called a GF up earlier in the day bragging about her Filly, only to call her back in the afternoon to tell her "My girl coughed and a p**** popped out!!" Did I ever tell you my mother is nuts?! ;)

If I can ever get my pictures to download from my camera to Photobucket, I'll post 'em. :headache:

You actually should be ok.... The dis visa peeps know to put it back on YOUR account (even though it will now have a different #) That happened to us when dh's # was pilfered too.

They don't start a new account. It is the same credit account (just with a new card #. (well technnically two #'s now..the old which doesn't work for charging anymore...and the new which does.) Your billing date will be same, credit line same, etc....

DCL DOES READ THE BOARDS!!!

I just looked at my reservation (ya know to make sure I'm not sending my renters on vacation...) and the Mickey fish are gone!

I just had to go check :goodvibes. Still GTY but, now we have real fishes......:rotfl2:

I read your response out of context. I thought you were comparing the other Paula, PBader's pictures of the mess from her tennants to the Maui-Lahaina. I was just about to put that hotel on my Never Stay There list.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: That would be topps on my list too of places to avoid like the plague:rotfl2:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
I'm not sure, but one of the Hawaii pics that Paula posted looked like Lahaina (a fun touristy fishing village in Maui):confused3

Like comparing Paradise Island to ground zero :rolleyes1

Gotta show DH both your pics Paula and PBader:thumbsup2

It may be just an example?????

100% correct. Credits and payments can still be transferred back to the new account. It truly is just a new number. Any problems with getting the credit back just call.

Debi that is hilarious :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

JR sorry about the luggage. Did you have trip insurance as well???? Credit cards have a bit of that lostluggage insurance as well.
