Hey, forgot to tell everyone. DS had his final check up with the neurosurgeon this week. He is all healed. No more fracture, no more air on the brain (....that's debatable :rotfl: ) and he's cleared for sports. No football until the summer, but he can play baseball now.

They showed us the CT scans from 4 days after the accident, 1 month after and then 3 months after. No sign of any more trauma in the area.

I've just read the following thread: Keeping Track of Your Teen

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1764605

A few interesting comments:

If you have younger children in the family, you will have a pager. Your teen can go to the club or lab and ask them to send you a pager message--Joe just wants you to know that he's going to Ocean Quest--or whatever.

This could be handy. We will have one in Lab (DD12) and Stack (DS13).

Do be sure that your son attends the 411 session in The Stack on the first night. THey meet with the counselors as well as security personnel and hear the ship's rules. It's well done...but is kinda "these are our lines. If you follow our guidelines, you'll have a great cruise. Cross these lines and the consequences are serious."

A must attend session, as far as I'm concerned. Sometimes they listen better to rules when it comes from someone else.

Also keep in mind that they will be no long allowing 13-14’s in the Stack as of May 10th. This is what Taylor in the Stack told me last week, and it has been rumored for quite a while.

Anyone else, heard/confirm this rumour? It makes sense, in a way.

oohh, so that is what PIF means!
Yes, we are most defnitley NOT PIF yet. LOL

OH! A new phrase!

"What the PIF??"

Oh, then I'm going to have to use my ninja skills on you.

I take cardio kickboxing. I can kick you add...but I have to do it to an 8 count.
LOL at the new phrase... but hey, no need to get all violent on me! It's just a nametag!
*scared of sk8ingmom*
:rotfl:

Because its the federal government and the taxes are for 2007 and the stimulus is for 2008 and you can't combine 2007 and 2008 or you would get 4015!;)

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

OK, I'll bring white name tags and a purple pen. We can see how many DISers we can "stick"... :rotfl2:

Oh what was I thinking? ofcourse I need to bring RED marker- black simply WILL NOT DO.
:rotfl:

Thanks for info on the airports closest.
We're still working on this- a few things in our favor:
A) we have the discount rooms for disneyland before the cruise- and before you say it NO WAY am I going on this cruise without going to disneyland once in our lives with our kids. LOL anywho... we decided if I went by myself with the kids (it's gotta be easier than when I went to WDW twice with the kids alone TWO YEARS AGO- they are 2yrs older after all.. gotta be easier LOL) since DH doesn't really get into the parks anyway- then he can work that week = get paid that week for working- right? which means pay off credit card faster if we end up putting quite a bit on credit card if we have to. But not only that.... it also = less time with our vehicle in airport parking while we're gone, less days the dog is at the groomers, no disneyland tickets for him, AND it also means that one of his weeks of vacation we can "sell" now.
(which means get the money for it before TOAL has to be paid in full. The problem is that right now this year they decided to not let you "sell" you vacation time and get the money- then take the time off- not paid during that time- later. now you have to either sell the vacation and get the money but not take the time off... or get your vacation pay when you actually take time off. Makes it kinda hard to use vacation pay to actually pay in advance for the vacation! So this way means one of his weeks of vacation he won't actually be using so we can just sell it now- means more money to pay off TOAL before the due date!)

We're gonna just fly up there me and kids- have a few days at the parks and then he'll come up after he works that week- probably friday night.
The only hesitation I have in this is that means HE has to take care of everything and I usually do that. :lmao: Seriously though- I even pack for him! And last time even though I set out his new undershirts on his suitcase he still forgot them! (ask Stacey's husband LOL) Now he's gotta pack for himself- I can't pack everything for him a week in advance- not stuff he uses every day/often. He's gotta take the dog to the boarding place which shouldn't make me nervous but does. I dunno why. maybe because I am just used to doing everything? I guess it's kinda like dropping a kid off to daycare for WEEKS- I'd be the one wanting to be there to tell them all about what my baby (in this case the dog LOL) needs/etc. He'd have to make the flight on time, park the vehicle in the right parking area, etc. All things I always took care of. Kinda scary to just depend on him to do all that. you'd think we were newly married or something but when you've been married 18yrs and always did everything- it's scary. sound stupid? LOL

which btw when is the due date? Is it May 9th?

B) DH is trying to sell his harley.... hey, it's his decision and he never rides it anyway. It's just something he wanted years ago and rode years ago- now it's just taking up space in the garage. Yanno?

C) economic stimulus payments  ---- can you say yeah that will help a lot? LOL

We might just squeeze by. So hey we won't be buying wine with any dinners and not buying pictures so we can pay the tips onboard.... and only using onboard credits for excursions- but we'll be ON THE CRUISE- yanno? that's what matters. ;) and a lot of money doesn't HAVE to be spent on board, right? right? someone tell me right. 'k?

Also keep in mind that they will be no long allowing 13-14’s in the Stack as of May 10th. This is what Taylor in the Stack told me last week, and it has been rumored for quite a while.

Anyone else, heard/confirm this rumour? It makes sense, in a way.

Your entire post was good info- but this one is most important to me.
If the 14yr olds are not allowed in stack- where do they go? do they have a class in lab now? if so......... I will be so happy. I really did not want my 14yr old in with the older kids. I have panic attacks even thinking about her being allowed to come/go as she pleases alone- but REALLY did not like the idea of her hanging out with 16/17yr olds. which she so would... I just know it. LOL
Oh please tell me this rumor is true..

HEY BIP? :mic:

OK!!!! Your right - your on the ship! YEAH! :yay:

And as for the PIF dance? We haven't celebrated that :dance3: either.

ok guys, just doing my duty -

SECRET MICKEY REMINDER!!!

here's another reminder that we are still accepting applications.....wait wait - that's for a job. Anyway, we are still accepting latecomers to join us in the Secret Mickey adventure on the Magic.

All that is required is a little bit of imagination and a sense of adventure.

Below is the information we need:

DIS NAME:
REAL NAME:
CITY & STATE YOU LIVE IN:
E-MAIL ADDRESS:
CABIN NUMBER: (OR GTY STATUS)
FAVORITE DISNEY CHARACTER
FAVORITE COLOR:
YOUR LIKES/HOBBIES:
DISLIKES:
ALLERGIES:
CELEBRATING ANY SPECIAL CELEBRATIONS ON THIS CRUISE: (please include dates)
WHAT NUMBER DCL CRUISE IS THIS FOR YOU:

ANY OTHER INFO THAT YOU WANT YOUR SM TO KNOW ABOUT:

As we get a bit closer I will be posting examples or suggestions as to what you can get and ways to be cost efficient. Also, if you are worried about having to carry anything onboard due to restrictions - a wonderful idea is to get your SM something onboard or a special momento from any of our ports.

Remember - the guidelines are to provide your SM only 5-6 presents. At least one should be a nice gift. You may wish to reserve this one for your last gift.

GET CREATIVE! Have fun in delivering your gifts - many of us will have fish extenders hanging - never underestimate the anticipation of receiving a gift at any time of the day or at anyplace on the ship. Imagine the surprise look on your SM's face if you are clever enough to figure out how to view it!

Also, a minor change - please indicate if you wish to be an individual or considered as a couple - keep in mind that your SM will not be required to get you both a gift. The option is there for either, or, or a combo gift, or that they can alternate gifts if they want.

OK - last requirement: total of gifts should be between $25 -$30. If you get creative - you can find many, many ideas at your local stores - or if you prefer - you can pick up small stuff at the ports for your SM. Also, never underestimate surprise delivery of a drink, mickey bar or a coffee at the poolside.

Have I sparked any interest yet? Its fun, its exciting and most of all - don't ever underestimate the fun you will have in fooling someone!

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to visit the pirate website or PM either myself, eeyorelvr10 or Pbader who is helping me.

Thanks guys - and remember - please join - it will be a blast - reveal will more than likely be on the last sea day in the promanade lounge. I will confirm once on board and send a phone message to all rooms.

If you are GTY, please don't let this stop you - even if when you get to port and upgrade if possible - I will bring a dry erase board so that you can post changes. I will do everything humanly possible to let your SM know.

OK - thats about it for now - Please join! Lets have some fun!!!!

Remember, it all in the spirit of fun.

Glad to hear your scan was normal. Is your eye still just as swollen? Do they have any idea what it is?

Thanks.
It's not really swollen. It's drooping. That's why they wanted to make sure it wasn't neurologic (mini stroke or something else :scared1: ) It could be a number of things, so I'm in a wait & see mode.

1) What is your favorite flavor of ICE CREAM or substitute favorite DESSERT

Praliens & cream

2) If you could have any car as your own "FREE" to use for a year - what would it be?

Any well running convertable. The first car I bought for myself was a white Mustang convertable.

3) If you could visit any one place on the planet for 7 days - what destination would you choose. All expenses paid however, you cannot take any physical souveneers back with you.

Machu Picchu & the Galapagos Islands

4-5-6) If you had Aladdin's lamp and 3 wishes... what would be your 3 wishes? The same limitations apply as in the Disney version - you can't raise the dead, you can't make someone love you, and you can't wish for more wishes.

way too heady for 5 am...

7) Tell us something about yourself that you've never posted here before.

I'm an open book... well except for the stuff in the vault...

OK... before I turn in tonite I'll try to come back and reply to these 7 questions!

G'mornin' pirate:s

I thought about Arizona. There is some availability. Also some availability in Vegas. NY would be nice, but flight cost would probably be a lot more. I'll look into it though.

What about someplace out west that is typically a ski destination? Lake Tahoe, Big Bear, Aspen, etc. They have great activities (and great deals) to boost year-round tourism & it is closer to your part of the world.

Why not come to Williamsburg or Virginia Beach?

We're going to be in Yorktown/W'burg June 6-8. We're heading to Busch Gardens (free military tickets :woohoo:), relaxing on Sat., and I'm running the Yorktown triathlon on Sunday.

3) If you could visit any one place on the planet for 7 days - what destination would you choose. All expenses paid however, you cannot take any physical souveneers back with you. Sailing the Greek Isles. Pictures don't count as physical souvenirs, right??

I hate mustard and peaches - together or seperate.

1) Fav I-Cream is a 2 way tie between FUDGE MARBLE and Cookies and Cream.

2) I want a Convertible VIPER... and it would be my daily drive. Most of those seem to be very low milage trophy cars. Not sure why - but it would be what I want. And as a close second... I would take a Bently Azure convertible.

3) I would take a week in Space City training for a space shot! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_tourism I want to do the visit to the soyuz space station or ISS (International Space Station). I know I indicated this was a 7 day visit to anywhere on the planet... and I should have specified "anywhere currently available to visit". Oh well... :confused3 if you folks will permit me this $20,000,000 week to train for and go into space then I'll be happy! By the way... I jjust noticed the Russians are considering a deal to offer a trip around the Moon for a cool $100,000,000! http://www.space-travel.com/reports/Russia_Takes_Lead_Position_In_Space_Tourist_Industry.html With the devaluing dollar - they should price that in Pounds Sterling or Deusche Marks!

4) Wish #1) A checking account that never bounces! IE - unlimited funds.
5) I wish my family and I to be as healthy and fit to age 100 as we were when age 25. Is that asking for too much to include my family?
6) I'd like to be President of the USA for 8 years - by a historic landslide vote too. I think that would be really interesting.

7) I don't think I ever mentioned I am afraid of spiders. They make my skin crawl.

Anyone know if LASIK is good if you already have dry eyes that are sensitive to light? I've had my tear ducts plugged and already use special drops to keep my eyes from drying out. It doesn't help that I live in a dry climate, but the last thing I need is more sensitivity to light.
Christopher I would be very cautious in your case:confused3 That said, they always seem to be coming up with improvements and new advances so I wouldn't necessarily count it out. Like Crash said, I wouldn't bargain hunt for something like this. The drs spend a lot of money to get the state of the art equipment and then pass that expense on to us. Research your area to see what is available and only consider those with solid reps. Good luck:goodvibes

:cheer2: :woohoo: Amazing how fast kids heal:hug:

Why not come to Williamsburg or Virginia Beach? Williamsburg is great b/c you get to see some of the first places ever in America (like Jamestown, circa 1607) AND you can enjoy Busch Gardens Europe and Water Country. June is a great time to visit b/c the weather is nice. It's getting warm, but it's usually not hot and muggy yet (okay, I'm not too good a gauge of hot and muggy, but it is better than July or August). You're also not to far from Virginia Beach and the Atlantic Ocean (and me for that matter . .. LOL). There are lots of great timeshare trades here.

Let me know if you pick W'burg :)

That's not too far from us too:thumbsup2 If you can wing the cross country airfare, Williamsburg is a great place to vacation:goodvibes

I need to have my eyes "plugged". That is one of a million things on my "to do" list.
I would think since you already had dry eye that at least you would know you needed to continue that. :confused3
I was one of those people that popped in contacts in the 1st of the month and threw them out a month later so Lasik did not "help" me that much. I am not even sure why I did it. I had in my mind that by the time I went to Alaska I did not want to still wear contacts.
I think I am not happier because I went to an idiot Dr and I still am not 20/20.

Also keep in mind that they will be no long allowing 13-14’s in the Stack as of May 10th. This is what Taylor in the Stack told me last week, and it has been rumored for quite a while.

OK Can i tell you why that would suck.....?

1) the tween programming was very basic and not really structured and dd didn't even like it much at 13. So now to have packs of 13-14 yo with nothing to do doesn't sound like a good plan at all. My dd (if she did go) would only be just turned 15 but many of the kids she does know would still be 14 and couldn't go.

Again it would be just a bad idea.............. Maybe this is another reason why she should stay at home. The last thing i want for my vacation is a moody teenager with nothing to do....

LOL anywho... we decided if I went by myself with the kids (it's gotta be easier than when I went to WDW twice with the kids alone TWO YEARS AGO- they are 2yrs older after all.. gotta be easier LOL)

BIP weren't you staying at Hojo's also? We come in on Thursday but if you need help at the parks, there's a good chance i could help you out. (since i'll probably have no kid of my own)

From what i heard from my dd. It was the younger teens who participated more in the stack. Why not get rid of the older teens instead? And no there was no seperate lab group for 14 last we sailed. I myself found that tween place lacking (they only were open a couple hours in the evening and nothing at other times with not many activities and more towards 10-12 yo than anything else. (and you know how big a maturity difference there is between a 10yo and a 14yo - Think puberty, height etc....)

Thanks.

 Glad to here MRI looked ok. Have they ruled out any kind of palsy. My DGF has a reoccurring eye thing that i think is a Bell's Palsy. (or at least that's the term he used)

Morning all :goodvibes

Hope everyone has a s*** less week. Yearly Gyn appt this morning . DH has his Dr this afternoon. I guess today is Dr day !!!!. We get the money on May 16th. Right before final payment. At least we won't be clearing out the entire acct. Still on [aage 215. Have a lot of reading to do.
