Obviously back from surgery.
The 1st "scoop" they took apparantly got clean margins so we went off to the plastic surgeon. After much discussion about the best way to repair the crater on the side of my nose- they came up w/ creating a "flap" from my cheek instead of the skin graf. The residents thought a skin graf but the plastic surgeon said that was the worst thing to do in this circumstace. His explanation made no sense to me, so I just went with it.
I know have 31 stitches on my face and will require another surgery to do the 2nd part. Stitches come out already on Friday. That was earlier than I thought. The 2nd surgery will be in a few weeks. From what I understand it will be worse in the short run and better long term. Since I work from home, it allowed this method.
The weird/sad part is I was the youngest patient by 2 generations there yesterday. All of the companions were my Mom's age but they were there for their parents and my Mom was there for her daughter. He Dr. said I was the youngest patient he would have all week. Lucky me!:sad2:
Anyway, at least that part is over and was not that bad. Even with 31 stitches I have not taken any pain pills.

Best of luck with the second surgery, and can't believe you're doing the first one without pain pills. I'm too much of a wimp for that. Also, thanks for the info on the cherries. I would much rather eat them than drink a concentrate. Now that I'm on the preventative medicine, hopefully I won't need to use it.

BTW, Corral is a pen for animals- not my name. I swear I get that so much.

so this isn't your pic?

Of course, herein lies a major problem for this cruise.... WHO IS EVERYONE?

Are you M&M's Mom, Marlene, Coral? I'm challenged for names on the best of days, now everyone has multiple names....

I hope no one is offended when I:

  1. Check cheat sheet
  2. Call you by your DIS screen name
  3. Stare blankly as I think "name... name.... darn it, why can't I remember names"

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

One word: "NAME TAGS!" With both our real name and DIS name.

Tom I'll join you with the blank stare look! Except I've gotten really good at smiling and saying "Hey how are you?" and avoiding names altogether, because I will most likely screw it up even if I've known someone for years.

Honestly I used to talk to parents up at the school all the time when waiting for my kids outside after school. Now that my DS is older I tend to pull up & let him jump in the car. Now when I run into parents at school occassions I know them as so & so's mother, but I have absolutely no idea what their name is.

HA! I thought the same thing!!:rotfl2: My plan is to print out color pictures of the pirates from the site and starting a few months ahead, every time someone posts I am going to look at their picture. Then I am going to write something specific they wrote so I know something to say when I meet them. :rotfl:

BTW- I am just "Coral"

OMG you're kidding me.
SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME that we did not just spend a small fortune for all 5 of us to get passports, after paying for my birth certificate again since they spelled my name wrong on the first one (atleast I didn't have to file an amendment to change it- they just typed it wrong in 1996 but have it in the records correctly) and paying for the kids BC's to be the big ones instead of the small birth certificates that our bohunk small town county clerk said we had to submit the big ones or else it would get denied, etc. AND THEN I JUST GO TO THE WEBSITE and see that we do not need passports until Jan 2009?

Please tell me we didn't just spend a small fortune on new BC's and passports, to go on a cruise that it's possible we may not even be able to go on..... when it wasn't even necessary? When did this happen? I thought we had to have passports already? WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH crap that money could have helped make sure we got to go on the cruise!
(ps. I was just checking the website to make SURE they had processed/mailed our passports correctly. Because they said I didn't have to send proof of my name change from maiden name to married- I only had to put both marriages and divorce (married, divorced, remarried same man) on the dates on the form but didn't have to show marriage license/divorce papers/marriage license -to show the name change because our 2nd marriage license obviously shows us with the same last name marrying one another again LOL) and the first thing I see is that passports for sea travel is not necessary until Jan 2009? ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh no one told me!

I know how you feel... but it's weird for me. I work with about 150 kids a day & I can remember their names... but when it comes to their parents' names - forget it. I totally blank when I have to talk to some of them. It takes me a lot longer to remember them. I confess, many times when I have to talk to a parent I go look up their name in the computer files & hope that I remember it when they come in to pick up their kid. As long as I smile nice it all seems to go well.:goodvibes

If it makes you feel any better, the MAJOR concensus is that passports will make it SOOOO much easier.

M&M's mom--- sorry that does not make me feel better. WE may have passports and unable to go due to finances... this amount of $ is a pretty good chunk we just spent on all this and certainly would have helped make sure we can go.
I just realized it's June 2009- so it's unlikely that will change to this summer before this summer. I can't believe we just wasted all this money. *sigh*

I swear.. worst luck ever!
Why oh why didn't I check the website before doing this last Friday? I just had no idea it was changed again. I thought it was no ifs, ands or butts that we had to have passports starting this Jan 2008. *sigh sigh sigh*

You DO HAVE TO have passports for the EB Panama Canal because the ship is visiting South America. The rule for not needed until 2009 for cruises is for Mexico, 17 places in the Caribbean, Canada and Bermuda. See here http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2223.html

The biggest thing to keep in mind is if you have a problem or medical emergency that you will have to get home through an airport instead of the ship you have to have a passport to re-enter the U.S. without being detained at the airport

thank you.
The emergency thing doesn't help (we did it last time without a passport and took the same risk then) BUT your first paragraph- silly as it may sound- makes me feel better. atleast now I know the money wasn't wasted!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl: spent and needed is much better than spent but didn't need it. yanno? does that make sense?
*phew* feel much better now!

We may here a lot of this...."Heeyyyyyyyy..................you!"

Who sneezed on their computer? Was it your M or Roger or maybe Crash. It seems I finally caught whatever it is that is going around. My grandson was sick last week and DH was sick this weekend, so Easter Sunday it was my turn. I am finally feeling a little better this afternoon. Hope the rest of you are getting better. And Coral glad to hear things went well with you.

I have never been good with names either. So I just smile and nod.

We may here a lot of this...."Heeyyyyyyyy..................you!"

And here I thought the plan was to greet each other like this, "Hey Swabbie!" pirate: "Hello Wench" princess: Now you're telling me that I might actually have to know and remember everyone's names :scared1: Shoot, I have a hard enough time in my house with DH, 2 DS's, the 2 dogs and the 3 cats :sad2: Who's going to form a committee to come up with cliff notes

Are we still doing Pirates?

Congrats Ester!!! :yay: :woohoo:  :yay:

Although, I should get credit, sitting in a fire truck (driving... Parked) and crackberrying I came close...

No credit!!!! Close only counts in horseshoes.:rolleyes1

OK where the heck is spring? It's 30 freeking degrees. Aren't these south parts supposed to get spring early? It's 33 at my Alaska house and it's only 2 am there.

We are gettting more S*** on Friday after we just had 10 inches of S*** last Friday!

The tan is not the issue..... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

To me, I'm just looking forward to a great cruise, some interesting ports, two weeks of no blackberry, no work.

If y'all happen to be fun to be around, its a bonus... If not, I'll just wear the speedo and no one will talk to me.....:lmao:

Hmmm......what would we all prefer???:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I am glad it is done and over with!!! You are now half way through the ordeal.:flower3: :flower3: Glad you are listening to the experts!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: Hope second surgery is even easier!!!

Bip.............you still needed the passpost for the EBPC because of the stop in Columbia!!! I just sure hope you will make it!!!

When I was credentialing athletes for the Olympic Track and Field qualifying event four years ago I got this advice...

Hammer

No one throws it. It requires the least amount of athletic ability of all the track and field events. And every school is desperate to find one. Of course, finding a coach is the tricky part.
.

We've seen the track coach's in High School "recruiting" ex-gymnasts for many of the field events. Apparently the girls can easily transition to the Pole Vault, High Jump, Long Jump, etc very easily. A girl who Lisa used to train with is a Senior and decided to "try" track for the fun of it. She was recently featured in our local newspaper as the Athlete of the Week. She currently holds the Long Jump and the Triple Jump County Records. We talked with her and she said she found it ironic that she was named Athlete of the Week for a sport she had spent 3 weeks in and ignored for a sport she spent 10+ years in.
