Everyone keep your fingers crossed for me. I have a job interview next week. It is with the same firm, but a different office and position...and hopefully a raise. My current department is not big on upward mobility. I am pretty much at the top.

More ice and snow here today - yuck. So much fun slip sliding to work this morning.

Good luck Terri. :thumbsup2

Well dang. My "little biopsy" turns out to be basal cell cancer. The bad thing is this on the side of my nose. At least I will be easily identifiable on the cruise cause I will have only half a nose!:lmao:
Oh well! We all have something.

Coral

OK Coral you are going to be fine. Being around medicine for so long can I pass on some words of wisdom. First yes you have a mild case of cancer but if you are going to get cancer this is about as benign as they get. Don't jump to any conclusions about the seriousness of this until you talk to your dermatologist. There are so many factors that play into how extensive the cancer is. The good news is that it will be totally extractable (is that a word) and only depends on how deep they have to go to get the margins. This could be from a minor scar to needing to go deeper in the tissue (half your nose :sad2: I don't think so) if it has deep roots. If you had not told us we probably would never have noticed the scar come August. I am assuming that you caught this early and any removal will be minimal. Be very happy that this is not melanoma which is the bad kind of skin cancer. So bottom line, we will keep you in our prayers, but don't fret over this until you find out all of the particulars. Easier said than done. For all of the rest of us it is a good idea to see a dermatologist and get a total body scan before it is too late.

Back from running around town...

... went to 2 Trader Joes to find my Turkey Meatballs and Pirates' Treasure Cheese puffs.

And here JR, I picked up a special cake fer Rebecca!....

Please convey our warmest regards and Best Birthday Wishes to your little one!

I was trying to decide between that one or the 770 (I think). This one is waterproof to 10 feet and the 770 is waterproof to 30 feet (or something like that). I figure with our luck our kids will drop it in the deep end of the community pool which I think is more than 10 feet deep, so I've been leaning toward getting the 770.

Did you get one Tom ?

I've read reviews of people taking it lower than the recommeded limit. They are not able to use the camera too far beyond the limit because of pressure on the parts, but once they are back up to surface it works again.

It may be too late now, but a few weeks ago Target had these on clearance for $149.98. It might be worth it to check Target first, then again they may be cleaned out by now. I hit up 6 Targets and couldn't find anything. But others were successful in either finding some in stock or purchasing the display model (at an additional 30% off).

Hi Folks

Just want to share another e.mail received from DCL.

They will be contacting clients that are affected by this to let them know if their Mickey Bar's are affected and adjustments will be made to your pricing over the next few weeks.

Only reservations made by people that are currently Doctor Who lover's are exempt from the increase in tax on Mickey bar's. If you say you love DW and later you make a modification to that statement your taxes will be adjusted at that time as well.

This only affects cruises of 15 nights in August 2008
From DCL:

mysterious trouble maker said:
Effective today, for NEW sailings commencing 8/17/08 and beyond that include 15 nights on ship, the Government Taxes and Fees are increasing $5.00 per Mickey bar. The sailings affected are: 15-Night Eastbound Panama Canal, .

This covers all Mickey bar's ordered by room service or in the restaurants, and the charge is per item ordered.

For existing reservations that are not Doctor Who lovers, -a BBC tv Sci Fi programme, the Government Taxes and Fees will be adjusted over the next few weeks. Guests and Travel partners with existing reservations will be receiving a letter and an updated confirmation reflecting the change. All must love the Doctor!

As a reminder, Government taxes and fees are subject to change and are mandated by the government.

For those worried about these changes please contact Captain Crash, he also will not have a clue, but, I just want to fill up his PM inbox.:thumbsup2

Please do not call DCL or a T/A directly about this as they will say they do not know anything about this as they have all been hypnotized by ''the Master.''

:dance3:

Why am I NOT surprised by this little prank?

Say!...

If you can FIND one of these Olympus digicams at a Target for $149... and IF you can get the $70 rebate then this could be yours' for $79 plus sales tax on $149!

Over?

Over?

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Germans?

Forget it, he's on a roll

Animal House reference - Monica mentioned food fight and it made me think of John Belushi starting the food fight, which of course made me think of the toga party!

Got it. Last I read the little table at Thanksgiving was for the NPIFs. Next thing that happens is I look over from the big formal dining room table to see the NPIFs in togas.

So which of us have bellies with stars, and which of us have none upon thars???

Thanks Paula, I'm 10 times better today than I was yesterday. My job is a desk job and if I had to get sick it happened at a relatively good time as far as workload. I'm taking it easy at home too. Of course I'll pay for it this weekend when I try to play catchup on the chores:headache: DH and kids can fend for themselves just fine, their version of cleanup and mine are just way different:rolleyes:

They have a version of cleanup?
You are way ahead of me.

Forgot to mention my latest tragedy.....

MY pet-sitter is going away during part of our TOAL...DOH :headache:

I am so screwed.... The planets are not aligning.... Could this be a sign?

...a sign that you have 160-some-odd days to find a new petsitter!

We had a trial run with ours when we were gone for the tournament last weekend. A 20-something from my office who lives in the city with her dog and 3 roommates came out to house/dog sit. She seemed to enjoy herself & did a good job. I thought she might enjoy 4 bedrooms and 1/2 a acre all to herself.

I sure hope that's a turkey leg he's holding! :scared1:

:rotfl:

...let's just go with turkey leg, OK?

hi sk8?!...hey, we should "eat" together.......your husband + my

Please don't encourage him...

The water seals are pretty good on the 720, but the 770 will give you extra insurance.

Olympus is in the process of releasing a number of new cameras. There is a good chance the 770 could be coming down in price too.

Got to say I love this camera (720) which I got when it first came out. It is something I can give to my 6 yo without worry and she comes back with some very cool pictures.

Thanks! I think I am going to buy it for oldest DD, Megan. Bless her heart, she is kind of clumsy and I am always afraid to let her use my camera. This whole shockproof thing is right up her alley. The only thing I do not like is the memory media. We don't have any other camera that uses xD but I think I have to "bit the bullet" and buy this one.

One way to look at it is she won't be stealing your memory cards....?

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: Love to you, Coral -- and your attitude is a real inspiration . . .:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Hi everyone.............thought I would take the time to post today - and I need to vent. I have hurt my foot and now may not be able to run in the 10k I have trained so hard for. All those cold mornings when it was in the teens and 20's i still went out and ran my 3 or 4 miles and now it may be all for not! I killed my ankle yesterday, went to urgent care and they took xrays. Good news is nothing is broken or fractured. Off to an orthopedic tomorrow to hopefully get it resolved. Dr. did say she thinks that is may be a ligament or tendon problem. Funny thing is ALL i was doing when I hurt it was relaxing! Went to get up and my foot & ankle would not work! So frustrating! I really cannot put my weight on it, very painful! Luckily I have some crutches here to help me get from point A to Point B but its my right foot - Yep, I can't drive! Whew........thanks for letting me get that out!

After hitting urgent care yesterday, I did not get home until 7:30 and got my email from Dreams stating that I had until 8pm to pay off our cruise or get charged those extra $$.. DH said just pay it off so at least that was the good thing that happened, got our TOAL PIF last night and right before the deadline so no extra charges for us.

We also got bad news last night, our neighbors daughter who is 16 was involved in a very serious car accident with 5 other teenagers night before last. All were very seriously injured, they rolled an SUV and hit a tree. No drugs or alcohol, just some kid driving way too fast and lost control. My neighbors daughter has crushed her leg pretty good and another boy has a broken back. They are all lucky to be alive. It takes me back to when I was a new driver and that age, i never worried about getting hurt or what would happen if....I lived in the moment - HOW SCARY!

I guess since I will be off the next couple of days you all will hear more from me. I am going to be doing some trip planning I guess!:goodvibes

Take it easy . . .

Ok fess up time!

From December 31st to last week I lost 2 stone, about 4 Ilbs a week, last week I did 'extra' exercise. walked a lot more, keep my diet on and was very good, and put ON a Ilb, just the one, but put it on, when I expected it to be my best week ever and I have had to pay a fine.
:sad1:

Don't worry about it, Andrew -- just try to stay the course and pick up the exercise a little and you will keep going . . .:cheer2:

Just trying to somewhat catch up . . . I might miss something since it's been a busy couple of days, so my apologies in advance if I do . . .

I thought I was going to make it through this winter without getting the flu, but no such luck.. Got sick on Sunday with fever, cough and chills and finally woke up this morning without the fever so I went into work. Luckily I didn't have too much at work to catch up on. Of course catching up here was a different story:laughing:
I just skimmed through the last 15 pages or so. So glad there wasn't a pirate run.

Sorry you've had the flu, Laurie -- get better soon!

Can I ask what happened to your foot? I can honestly say I feel your pain !!!!
I broke a toe back in Dec. Yes Dec. and after 8 weeks of pain and in a shoe thingy the Dr. said Sorry Tina I need to do surgery. Well On Feb. 22 he took out all the bone and put a metal pin in and I still will have a long recovery to go and I am now in a hard boot to my knees.

Honestly I am not sure what happened. I am a runner and have been training pretty hard for the past 6 months. About 2 months ago, I went to get up from sitting and something in my ankle just swished around, it was very sore and I had xrays done but nothing showed so theyput me on some antiinflamatory and I stayed away from running for about a week. I gradually worked my way back up to about 5 miles and that is where I have been for about 2 weeks now. Then on Tuesday the same thing, I was sitting, got up
and I could not stand on my ankle. Xrays again show nothing, they gave me some darvocet and some naproxen and told me to see an orthopedic. Well, that night and all day yesterday, no swelling but still can't walk on it. Have an appt with an orthopedic this afternoon. This morning I get up and my ankle is swollen, red and hot. Not sure what is going on but I am hoping that whatever it is they can take the pain away because it is very painful. I will try and come back here later tonight to let you all know what he said.

Thanks Roger. Yep, it is not exactly a serious type of cancer. I am a bit confused on my Dermo. She had her nurse give me the results and tell me to cal the Mohs surgeon and that was it. :confused3 Guess that means she does not take it that seriously either.

I've read reviews of people taking it lower than the recommeded limit. They are not able to use the camera too far beyond the limit because of pressure on the parts, but once they are back up to surface it works again.

Good point. I was going to give this to Megan in July for her b-day too.
Does anyone know if Ritz camera price matches? They have the classes that Megan would benefit from.

She had her nurse give me the results and tell me to cal the Mohs surgeon and that was it. :confused3

It can be very serious if not caught. But they caught it, so you will be fine.

Do you know what Mohs surgery entails?
It is the best way to go with this type (as I learned through my wife's and 2 of my Aunts' experiences - without trying, they all ended up with same surgeon, which made me feel great about my wife's treatment since my Uncle is a surgeon and wouldn't let his wife go to anyone but the best).

The nurse said it was in-office procedure. They would take tissue from around the spot and test it on the spot and take as much until they knew they got it all. That is also what Roger said.
I live in a Dallas suburb and was very surprised how very few Dr's I had to choose from in all the metroplex. All of 3 they mentioned.
I work from home but have so many things involved w/ the girls that I am anxious to get it done and start healing.
I have always had dark pigmentation and tanned extremely easy. Also there is no skin cancer in my family so I assumed I was good. I had a bunch on little spots taken off last week just cosmetically, I was not expecting anything to come of it.
Guess I will be more deligent about sunscreen.
