So after my response from DCL about booking problems that was a form letter (others got same), I asked

Today's response:

Don't you love how they give you absolutely no information but pretend that they have?

To say that I have my reservations about the booking system working when we all try and make our ressies on 5/19 is a vast understatement. And the worst part of it is I only want 1 DCL excursion - the Dolphin one in Cabo. DH wants to do a Palo tea and then maybe a spa booking or two.

DVC Member Alert

The new Disney Files magazine has a list of DL restaurants that give DVC members a 10% discount including the Blue Bayou (is that where y'all are eating soon?)

Also an article on the new show on board the Wonder - Toy Story the Musical.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to check that out. Besides, anything beats studying for tomorrow's Law exam.

PIF here too!! guess we're staying with our ta...after all, she is the one who initially booked us on TOAL, so i guess she's a keeper...

Congrats! I know I was thrilled with our TA just for getting us onboard too.

I decided not to PIF today and now I'm wondering if I made the right decision. It's just a matter of 1 day which is making it so frustrating. I get paid tomorrow and it will be a pretty good check with some back pay and my annual bonus. That was going to cover the existing balance on my Disney Visa. Then when that was clear, I'd be ready to pay the cruise. I didn't want to put the cruise on the Visa until I've cleared the balance because of the way they apply payments. They apply to the lowest APR first, so if you have a balance of regular purchases and a balance of Disney vacation, any payments will post to the vacation, so you don't get the full 6 months 0 APR.

That is not what I was told when I called Chase today to verify the rules. Payments are applied to the regular interest rate charges first.

They didn't do that to me. I paid the balance on the other stuff and they didn't apply any of the payment to the Disney vacation part. I've done it a couple of times now.

S*** alert. It's s***ing like crazy here, I think dd is getting another s*** day!

well phooey....guess I should have gone ahead and PIF (----hey did we add this to the website list of acronyms???)

Oh well.....I'll just let DS have some extra ice cream, he'll be more than happy to oblige

Snow eating now endangered kid pleasure By MELISSA RAYWORTH, For The Associated Press
33 minutes ago

To the list of simple childhood pleasures whose safety has been questioned, add this: eating snow. A recent study found that snow — even in relatively pristine spots like Montana and the Yukon — contains large amounts of bacteria.

Parents who warn their kids not to eat dirty snow (especially the yellow variety) are left wondering whether to stop them from tasting the new-fallen stuff, too, because of Pseudomonas syringae, bacteria that can cause diseases in bean and tomato plants.

But experts say there's no need to banish snow-eating along with dodgeball, unchaperoned trick-or-treating and riding a bike without a helmet.

"It's a very ubiquitous bacteria that's everywhere," says Dr. Penelope Dennehy, a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics' committee on infectious diseases. "Basically, none of the food we eat is sterile. We eat bacteria all the time."

Children practically bathe in bacteria when they go to the playground, and Dennehy says they won't get anything from snow that they wouldn't get from dirt.

"We eat stuff that's covered with bacteria all the time, and for the most part it's killed in the stomach," says Dr. Joel Forman, a member of the pediatric academy's committee on environmental health. "Your stomach is a fantastic barrier against invasive bacteria because it's a very acidic environment."

There are exceptions. "Tiny kids on formula a lot of times don't have the acid in their stomachs," making them more vulnerable to bacteria in general, says Dr. Lynnette Mazur, a professor of pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical School. Also, Forman and Mazur say that Pseudomonas can be a threat to people with cystic fibrosis.

The study, published last week in the journal Science, didn't examine the effects on people. And experts say without further information, it is impossible to say what the bacteria could do to a child who eats extraordinary amounts.

"I can say that I'm not aware of any clinical reports of children becoming ill from eating snow. And I looked," Forman says.

In any case, because of ordinary air pollution in snow, it's probably wise not to eat a lot of the stuff, pediatricians say. For parents in search of guidance, Mazur offers this: Licking a little snow off a glove is probably OK. "A meal of snow" is not.

Some parents say they are not going to worry about their kids eating snow that looks clean.

"My snow-eating concerns are generally more of the dirt-urine variety," says Kristin Lang, 37, of Maplewood, N.J., whose 2-year-old son Charlie has swallowed his share of snow.

"When I heard bacteria, at first I went 'eew,'" says Tricia Sweeney, a mother of three in Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y. But as long as the kids eat snow as it's falling, "I think it's OK. I tell them not to eat it if it's on the ground."

And as Lucy says in "A Charlie Brown Christmas" - it needs salt.

When I saw PIF I had no idea what anyone was talking about! Then the light shone!

Monica, I started looking really good at my credit cards statements after I got hit with a $29 charge for them posting my payment the day after the due date. (That was a different card.)

I don't know how we all survived childhood!:lmao: I remember riding in the back of a pick-up truck and riding in the back of a station wagon with <gasp> no seat belts!:scared1: Of course we didn't have helmets for bicycling, of course that wouldn't of prevented me from jumping on the back of a bike and getting my heel caught in the spokes! Of course those were the days when it was a rare treat to go to McDonalds!

Finally got the kids' ID's taken care of. If anybody else is trying to set up their kids (under 13) with a DIS account, go through the steps to set them up, including creating their ID and password. Then e-mail Webmaster Corey at corey@wdwinfo.com and give him the DIS ID. (I also gave him the e-mail account that goes with it. I don't know if he needed that or not.) He got back to me saying they were all set.

I think I'm actually staying caught up with most of you. Thanks for the info today -- we decided to go ahead and pay-in full as well. For the five of us, this saves $75 plus with the interest free for 6 months, we can still keep the cash and earn a little extra.

The only reason for us hesitating was that we were getting nervous as this is the most we've ever spent on a vacation and were starting to second guess the decision. However, the emotional side keeps coming back to say "go for it!"

Dang, I did not hear back from my TA so I am sure the payment did not get paid.
My Dad said he knew the TA was there because she answered an email to him about their "trip around the world" next year.
I am so frustrated. I could have paid this off months ago w/ the 6 months free interest (also if I did not want to buy my diamond earrings first).
Looks like I am going to have to eat (literally) the charge.

One good note from PIF, the receipt I got has all the same ports and times as last updated by DCL, so no changes yet

Please...we had black top on our playgrounds! Never found beds of wood chips under the slide and monkeybars. :sad2:

Tina, as soon as I saw the word "PIF" I was transported back to the days when I did third-party debt collections, now that was :scared1: job!

But that doesn't explain how payments will be posted. I've seen so many people complaining that if they had a balance and a vacation charge, that the payments posted to the vacation charge first. I've never paid close enough attention to my own to know for sure.

I emailed webmaster@disboards.com. I'll give it a few more days then try Corey.
