I decided not to PIF today and now I'm wondering if I made the right decision. It's just a matter of 1 day which is making it so frustrating. I get paid tomorrow and it will be a pretty good check with some back pay and my annual bonus. That was going to cover the existing balance on my Disney Visa. Then when that was clear, I'd be ready to pay the cruise. I didn't want to put the cruise on the Visa until I've cleared the balance because of the way they apply payments. They apply to the lowest APR first, so if you have a balance of regular purchases and a balance of Disney vacation, any payments will post to the vacation, so you don't get the full 6 months 0 APR.

I wonder if Arlene can verify. There have been tons of complaints on the Budget board about this. I'm ashamed to admit that I don't pay that much attention to mine, I just pay the bill.

The 0% for the vacation packages is not what gets paid first. It is the only card that works this way. It pays the purchases from the current statement and then any additional will go towards the 0%. Bad thing is , any credits to the card do subtract from the vacation. They still haven't fixed it yet and have no solution either. Phone or Internet Payments done before 4pm EST will be processed after midnight (except Saturdays ) and be available the next day. If you made a payment yesterday and also paid off the trip remember it takes 1-3 days for that charge to actually post to the card and therefore you would have a very slight chance of overdraft.
Also, please remember to order your reward cards. They take 2 weeks to get to you and are good til the end of 09. You can have 2.If you forget, it can be picked up at GS in the ticket area of DL, and in the parks ate and inside the parks at city hall (?) (I should know this ) I personally have 2. One I ordered and 1blank I picked up at DTD. I will have both in case I lose one. Remember, in spite of all our suggestions, the Ships DO NOT have the blank reward cards and if you forget yours So maybe we should remind everyone going to the parks Saturday before the cruise,to stop by GS and pick up an additional card for those who may have forgotten ? TGIW Well today is my Friday and well deserved at that. I am glad to say no plans for the rest of the week, that is unless DD forgets she is working the same time the kids need to be picked up. She has given her notice yet again at Pier 1 and Wednesday is her last day. She get calls each am to substitute and she still hasn't made her first day yet. I think she is a bit afraid. You know she was offered 2 jobs in the kids school but turned them down as she would have needed to start the next week and still felt a responsibility to her current job as they were gracious enough to take her back. So hopefully everything will work out.

That is a very good reminder. I have 1 empty card but I think I will pick up another at DTD in June.
I talked my Dad into letting me put their balance on my card yesterday. With the over $11,000 charged yesterday, I now have reached my goal of having enough in rewards to pay our tips on the cruise.
My TA said that since she originally booked our cruise it has gone up from $5952.96 to $6240.90. She was shocked.

Hi everyone.............thought I would take the time to post today - and I need to vent. I have hurt my foot and now may not be able to run in the 10k I have trained so hard for. All those cold mornings when it was in the teens and 20's i still went out and ran my 3 or 4 miles and now it may be all for not! I killed my ankle yesterday, went to urgent care and they took xrays. Good news is nothing is broken or fractured. Off to an orthopedic tomorrow to hopefully get it resolved. Dr. did say she thinks that is may be a ligament or tendon problem. Funny thing is ALL i was doing when I hurt it was relaxing! Went to get up and my foot & ankle would not work! So frustrating! I really cannot put my weight on it, very painful! Luckily I have some crutches here to help me get from point A to Point B but its my right foot - Yep, I can't drive! Whew........thanks for letting me get that out!

After hitting urgent care yesterday, I did not get home until 7:30 and got my email from Dreams stating that I had until 8pm to pay off our cruise or get charged those extra $$.. DH said just pay it off so at least that was the good thing that happened, got our TOAL PIF last night and right before the deadline so no extra charges for us.

We also got bad news last night, our neighbors daughter who is 16 was involved in a very serious car accident with 5 other teenagers night before last. All were very seriously injured, they rolled an SUV and hit a tree. No drugs or alcohol, just some kid driving way too fast and lost control. My neighbors daughter has crushed her leg pretty good and another boy has a broken back. They are all lucky to be alive. It takes me back to when I was a new driver and that age, i never worried about getting hurt or what would happen if....I lived in the moment - HOW SCARY!

I guess since I will be off the next couple of days you all will hear more from me. I am going to be doing some trip planning I guess!

of course that wouldn't of prevented me from jumping on the back of a bike and getting my heel caught in the spokes!

That happened to my aunt when she was 5 or so and riding on my mom's tandem bike. (My mom is 17 yrs older than her sis) She has a really nice scar there where the spokes had scraped down to the bone.

We were also gasp allowed to run on the playground at school. My kids can't.

oh wait...and we had at least had morning and afternoon recess in addition to lunch. Now the kids can't even go outside at lunch because people are so psycho-paranoia. (Even at the HS level)

And they wonder why kids can't sit still in class.

I feel bad. My TA has been trying to call me all night. Apparantly my phone is turned down too low to hear.
My TA was quite upset as she said she was not notified at all about this increase from DCL.

my TA is always amazed cuz i INFORM her of things, not the other way around. i emailed her way before the itinerary was released for the TOAL telling her when it came available, i wanted to be booked. and i emailed her yesterday asking about the extra fees...she had only just learned of it herself. of course, i learn all the good stuff here on the dis!!

oops...meant to say hello in my last post too! hope everyone has a great over the hump day....
my daycare kids are at preschool and the little baby is sleeping....it's quiet here, and i really don't know what to do with myself! big kids just left a bit ago as for some strange reason, they were on a 2hr delay. it's becoming a weekly thing for our school district to dismiss early on tuesdays, and then they have 2hr delays on weds. it really screws up everyone's schedules, and it's been like this for 3 weeks now! irritating! noone else around us was on a delay...just us! ugh!

I am so sorry about your foot. That is so frustrating to work so hard and have something pulled away through no fault of your own.
That is so sad about your neighbor. Life can change so quickly. I am sitting here waiting on a biopsy results and I am sure they will be fine but I was thinking about all the people who get the call that all is not well. Life is so fragile sometimes.

I was kind of mad that she did not even notify me when the extra $100.00 charge came up for the Panama Canal. Now I am thinking she did not even get notified.

OK...

... we've NOT paid off yet, nor have we booked ANYTHING like air fares, ground transport or hotel while in Orlando... and we figure on bringing several of those soft sided coolers with which to pack Mickey Ice Cream Bars which we'll sell on the beaches in Mexico and so on. So I figure on hauling 4 coolers (4 kids) and lets see... in say 5 ports (minus castaway caye where I'm likely ta get busted selling Mickey Bars) ... if I can haul 35 bars per cooler... 4 coolers ... and sell TWO cooler loads (8 total) per port... at say $4 per bar with NO spoilage or losses from melting... that comes to 8 loads x 5 ports = 40 coolers of 35 bars = 1,700 bars at $4.50 = $7,250! Which just about covers the cruise and gratuities.... except I've got an on-board rebooking discount, DCL and TA cabin credits... so I actually have a little Ice Cream scalpin' scratch left over for Sutters or maybe some of those plastic jewel bags from the ships' gift shop.... and I've got funds left over to pay for the 4 soft sided coolers!

I hope your foot will be better. I pulled a ligament or tendon. I was in a hard cast for 3 and a soft cast for 9 months!!! Doctor told me it was much better to break a bone than sdamage soft tissue.

Just passing through...

... had an interesting day of sorts... we ran into town for as "open" casting call for "extras" to appear in a McDonalds TV commercial for the Summer Olympics .... if we were selected then it would have paid $590 plus residuals. Unfortunately, when we arrived they had closed the audition as they had a lot of people show up. However, we ended up chatting with a few folks about auditions and so on. This has been something we were curious about as something fun and productive to investigate. A few kids at Juliannas' school take several absences to audition for various gigs through out the year... and this was our first attempt. Now that I've picked up some useful info - we may be attending a few more casting calls in the future.

Aside from that, since we did not get to attending the casting call... we had already decided we could do some grocery shopping at a Chinese Market and catch a nice dinner from a good Chinese restuarant... the likes of which we don't have out where we live. So - the place we dined at had a $6.95 deal for 2 live lobsters 1-1.25 pounds each prepared in any number of tradional methods... of which we selected Ginger and Green Onions. To get this deal however you have to get 3 more dishes off thier not so cheap menu. We've dined here once before and felt their portion sizes were generous in spite of the prices... so we ordered oysters in Ginger and Green Onions, a seafood "hot pot" with fried tofu, and a sauteed rock cod with veggie dish. All told it came to $43 which seemed like a bargain considering the lobsters sell for roughly $11 a pound in the local Chinese Supermarkets in LA. So lobster alone was worth about $25 to us.

Aside from that - I spent the day hanging out with my spouse as she worked. We took a sort of late long lunch together just casually chatting then we sort of window shopped a little before we went to pick up the kids. And right then we got the call from a friend about the casting call. So we ran into town to try our hand at it. Oh well... you all know how that turned out.

At any rate, I hope everyone else had as pleasurable a day as we had today... and if not then I sure hope one of the next 3 days appraoches or exceeds how our day went today!

I said that to DH about the overdraft too, but we were really right at our limit so we had to pay down 7k just to pay off the cruise & DH was afraid they would just reject the payment. Too late now!

So sorry you hurt your foot & are now "out of the running". I can't imagine even training that hard. It's difficult for me just to hit the exercise bike at night so I am really really sorry that this happened!

Hopefully you won't lose all that hard work you did & you can get right back to it for the next one!

oops edited because I forgot to say, thank God they all survived the crash! A parents worst nightmare!
