I'm considering a plea to Amnesty International requesting they put pressure on our supermarkets to put an end to this torture of not stocking them in the shops

I actually have got people who I've bought stuff from Ebay, to put a couple of packs in with what I've bought. I'm completely out at the moment so am starting to get the shakes.

they had the akron university..."welcoming...the kids"...then my son

..however, a real problem..with tall & big, is taking up too much room.
we will be making adjustments...i think for me, i 'll stand next to

I watched it with my then 18 yo and 19 yo- we all got quiet and I had to pause the film several times to get up to go to the bathroom. DD 12 at the time said she did not want to see - she didn't think she could handle it. She is now 14 and I'm sure that sometime before her graduation in 3 1/2 years she will be required to watch it. Until then, I won't bother her with it. She is rather sensitive. I'm jsut glad she knew that she didn't want to put herself through that. But I agree - ask them if they think they are ready. May work out that way.

Speaking of saving space in luggage . . .

That may also help you to have more room for pirate gear . . .especially if it is disposable

TIP: One way to dispose of gear is to ask your servers if they want anything. Last cruise I had a revolver/long neck - (OK I KNOW THAT IS NOT THE CORRECT NAME FOR IT) but it escapes my mind for the minute. Anyway, the (LORD I JUST KNOW I'M JUST GOING TO GET INTO TROUBLE FOR THIS ) but (ahem) the part that you - "croak" back - well that was broken - I showed it to my server and he and the food waiter just about jumped over the table and lounged for it. Try that avenue.

I've already been working on DH about a pretty emerald in Cartegena. The thoughts of wondering in a Columbian city still makes me uncomfortable though . . .

I bought one of those portable luggage scales--just so I can make sure our bags are gonna be within the limit. If anyone wants to borrow it my room # is GTY!

I never do laundry on vacation either, but I'm going to have to suck it up and do it on the cruise. I'm sorry, but I don't find fluffing and folding very magical.

I'm afraid to reveal that I am sick and coughing now, since Crash will likely post a warning that I am about to DIE. The worst thing was that I was home sick trying to sleep yesterday when I got a call from the girls' school to pick them up because there was a broken pipe at the ongoing construction at their school and everyone had to leave . . . there went that chance to take it easy. So far I haven't heard that school is closed again today so I am assuming that it is on -- fingers crossed.

I decided to take a mental health day. We only had a few inches of snow but there is sleet and freezing rain - yuck. I just didn't feel like fighting it. So I will work from home - more or less.

I bought some pirate fabric for my fish extender last night. And I am considering making my own gown for semi-formal night. I haven't been able to find anything I even remotely like. So this is a very simple long dress in a silky black fabric. I am still trying to talk DH into renting a tux, but not much luck on that end.

Luckily, DD#2 is the same height (short) as I am....at least I see eye-to-eye with someone in my house!!




Not sure what to do about all the clothes/packing. I'm with your wife, I don't do laundry on vacation either. Guess I'll have to do a "practice pack".

That's an interesting alternative. I don't sew, but I've been fortunate enough to convince my mom to dust off her sewing maching from time to time.

I went that route. Here is me rewearing my "pirate" outfit at WDW in August (I didn't get any pictures of me dressed up for "pirate" night on the cruise in 2006)

But Diane you have lots of suitcases between all of you.: I can only bring 4!!! I am going to be a pirate with tennis shoes!!!

John bought a tux for the cruise and wore it to DS wedding!!! John will also be wearing it as many times on the cruise as needed ( or that I insist on).

I know but it's dragging them all over tarnation that stinks like carp! That's why I just bought rolling carry-ons and rolling garment bags to go with my rolling suitcases. I've been thinking a lot lately of how I can keep this packing to a minimum & somethings just gotta give!

You know, of all the hockey equipment my kids put on several times a week, the thing they complain about most is the stupid neck guard. It is small, it is flexible, it isn't tight, but they compain about it every time. The whole purpose of the thing is to protect the neck from cuts - it's really just reinforced fabric and wouldn't be any use in a collision.

Well, we watched the clip. I don't think I'll hear any neck guard complaints anytime soon. Teachable moment.

I went to a Distributive Education conference when I was a senior in high school & at dinner one of the choices was filet mignon. You would not believe how many of the kids thought it was fish?

I save room by eliminating sleeves and socks from my wardrobe.

Well I'm definitely with you on the socks thing. I only pack walking, casual & dressy sandals. No socks, pantyhose, etc. allowed on vacation!

My DH is getting off easy, I don't really care for emeralds so they aren't on our list of things to get.

I did something similar on our trip to WDW and DCL last year. I packed a smaller suitcase inside one of the larger ones. They were all full on the way home.

We are packing a collapsable rolling cooler that will be filled with booze to take on the ship, but should be empty for taking home souveneirs.

Hello!!! Are you living on the wrong side of the Potomac? We had a couple inches by the time dh left for work this morning.

It snowed a little more when we went to the gym. (BTW i am a horrible mom. I told dd that if she doesn't go to the gym a minimum of two times a weeks that she can't go with us on TOAL. Just horrible i tell you )
