GM pirate:

Presently 59 going up to 81 here in Sunny Central Florida :goodvibes

Magic Kingdom was empty yesterday... :cool1: the weather was perfect.

 :grouphug: pixiedust: and prayers to everyone who is going to need it today

:welcome: aboard to all the newbies

Have a great Sunday

My kids have been playing some of our old video clips today, apart form the changes in their age's, its interesting to see the changes in the Magic.

Animators show, for the first time, and a lot of people around not noticing something going on until the music gets very loud. Then surprise, where have the waiters gone?

From 2002 a proper character breakfast with the characters going around and signing the autograph books, not just a dance in the middle of parrot key.

Those shore trip stickers with the characters on each. Cute.

I just saw Key West sunset, when that boat went past the Magic on a sunset cruise and everyone was totally naked on it, shaking it about to-wards the Magic.

Caymans Turtle farm, Stephen holds and drops a Turtle. It gets a headache.

Cozumel, and the Dolphin discovery and me taking my camcorder in the sea, and a dolphin Splash'es all over it, and it stopped working a few days later due to salt water, and pulling aside the smallest and ugliest cruise ship in Coz that ship must have been totally embarrassed to have the Magic next to it!

Five other nice cruise ships further down the coast seen from dolphin discovery.

Have to add, just got up to Halloween on the Magic, ship dressed up, it was a sea day, Stephen dressed up as a vampire tigger, and Alice as an evil princess, trick and treating in the atrium, very crowded, and a character parade with the kids and Stephen gets mentioned on the PA for his great costume!

Pluto Mickey and dressed up in their Halloween costumes.

and of course Captain Hook center stage.

Morning.
Looks like a beautiful day again. One more thing about the time zone changes, when we went to Cozumel to escape the Hurricane in 04, we came into the room to find this reminder note. Sorry it's a bit washed out.

hmmmm How bout this..... During the room tour...everyone who wants to leave a note for Andy can stop by.

I like that idea! :thumbsup2

? Apart from the investigations, I have been fine? Nothing additional the past weeks!

They were increasing your steroids -- I hoped it didn't increase the side effects. Glad you are fine.:goodvibes

Morning everyone !!

David

Morning, David! Still basking in the glow of yesterday's win by Wales?

Stupid GroundHog............ Six more weeks of Michigan Winter...........Thanks alot Pete !!!

Our groundhog is named Phil and he saw his shadow as well Mark, lousy groundhog anyhow..............:headache:

Hello from another Brit! We too are staying at DLH, but fly out 13 August - maybe we'll bump into you before the biggest adventure of my life starts!

Celestine

You never know...it's a small world after all!

And people are picking on me for hurricanes...... You live in hurricane alley and have to have cruise ships avoid hurricanes....LOL

I was too busy yesterday to even log on, so here is a Groundhog of the Groundhog Day posts!

Errr ya that's right! So maybe more like a redneck than a flower child? :rolleyes1

Maybe a little.
Have I ever mentioned the 5' inflatable moose that MIL 'surprised' me with, right next to the cake table?

Classy.
You forgot the part about my son and I both having staph infections and the kid getting his science project confiscated by the Scottsdale Police Department and his Dad being threatened with 25 years for the federal offense of letting him build said science project.
Nah...no stress....

Now someone tell me I can go to Fantasyland and live there!!!

:tinker:

OMG Stace - would it be mean to laugh?? Never a dull moment in your house.

That is a great tip about having the backpacks ready to go and clothes all laid out before we leave. I'll also have to make sure I have something to pack for lunches that can't spoil while we're gone. Oh, and I wonder if I can pay my school fees before we go?

PB&J - just keep a loaf of bread in the freezer.
I want to have backpacks ready to go, but if last year was normal around here, the supply lists won't even be out before we leave for LA.

Linda has a fear of heights, so I didn't push the issue. Turns out that she is more excited about doing the zip line than I am. I think she wants to face her fears and that this will be a great way to do it. I'm still a little worried about DS8 chickening out, but he seems really excited about it too.

Lots of kids that age are going, including mine. Sometimes peer pressure isn't a bad thing!

Only you know what's best for your children & I'm sure they will catch right up since they are A students. Both my kids are A students too, but my only concern is they are both starting at new schools so it makes it a bit more difficult, but like anything else, I'm sure they will adjust. Plus I completely agree that this is a huge learning experience that no classroom can match! :goodvibes

Diane, I hope it works out for you guys. You MUST go on TOAL. I still haven't recovered from Mary canceling, I couldn't handle you canceling in my fragile condition. And it's all about me!

Kids adjust quickly. I must assume that a lot of their friends are starting in the same school, so it's not like they will walk into a school full of strangers on 'their' first day.

Granted, my kids are younger, but they are each in their 3rd school.

We are also in the middle of getting an IEP in place which will take him out of this school, that may be why they are letting him slip by.

Ugh! IEP. I hope your experience is better than mine. It took my 2 years to convince the school to test DS, then when they finally realized he needed the help they wanted to put him in a bubble and basically guarantee that after 12 years of school he wouldn't be able to function in the real world.

My DS is younger and has different challenges than yours (reading learning disability), but fight the good fight to get him the help he needs - just watch for them to go overboard in the name of better test scores for the school or less work for the staff.

He made two "silencers" for a gun. :sad2: Apparently, it's not illegal to own one, use one, or buy one...but it IS illegal to MAKE one without a permit.
Who knew?? :confused3 But his teacher told him he could do it, so as far as we're concerned, she's the responsible party. If anyone's going to jail (but no one is) it would be her.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Wow! Inventive project. Did he use a potato? DH did it at the gun range one time, it was pretty cool.

The beast was killed finally and the Tiki room party took over.

One of the funniest quotes from the 31st of last year ...I think on that day most of us wanted to kill the beast ..LOL :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

pirate:

I believe that was also the day that as the prices rolled in, I encouraged people to borrow my mantra:

tripofalifetime. tripofalifetime. tripofalifetime.

As always tough to keep up--even with a new thread. Definitely count me in--XXL even if I "downsize" before!!! Somewhere in the deep recesses of brain cells killed or damaged by beer and snuff is my knowledge from when I played in college--just hoping it comes back!! The one parallel between then and now is that the games back then seem to have been as much (if not more) about getting to the keg or party afterward as they were playing the game.

Hope everyone is doing well. We still haven't finalized the flight out but got the return flight booked yesterday. Just one more step to being ready.

Nicholas.

Hey Nicholas! I'm glad you're still on. Don't be a stranger.

If I remember correctly, you're a lawyer. Just do what Tom does and bill someone for your DIS time. ;)

In the park or out?

The Blue Bayou inside the pirates ride can't be beat for ambiance. Napa Rose at the Grand Californian is also nice for a special occaision. In Downtown Disney you've got ESPN Zone (a must do if he's a sports fan), House of Blues, Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen, Tortilla Jo's....all very good in my opinion.

As for what's nearby, there's plenty of chains, Mimi's Cafe, Outback, Red Robin, Buca di Bepoo, Joe's Crab Shack, Morton's Steakhouse, The White House (you can get a cheap gift certificate on restaurant.com). There's also a Mideval Times and a pirate dinner show nearby.

We liked BB, but it was strange to not have a glass of wine with a nice-ish dinner like that. Something to keep in mind.

Oops.. I was absent that day:rolleyes1

Was it an exused absense? Did you talk to the principal ahead of time? Did you finish your make-up work? Did you pre-pack your backpack before your absense???????????

It's a site that I signed up for that I linked to my e-mail that I use for my web purchasing. Every time I make a purchase through their site with one of the vendors (like Disneyshopping.com!), I earn points that can be redeemed for gift cards. I also received e-mails that I "click" on that earn 5 points each. I figure I am making the purchase anyway, so I am also earning something extra!

And I believe E-bay is one of the participating vendors! You should check it out! I've used them for a few years now, and have never had a problem! I learned about it on mousesavers.

Sounds like ebates, only I get a check not a gift card.

From 2002 a proper character breakfast with the characters going around and signing the autograph books, not just a dance in the middle of parrot key.

I actually sent an e-mail to DCL about the character breakfast change. I know we will be disappointed with the new character breakfast & I hope they get enough feedback to change it before TOAL.

Oh and in my running around yesterday, I bought a rolling duffle bag at Costco for $25, after $10 instant rebate. Should be good for TOAL.

I also tried on a formal that I liked at Macy's, on sale for $79, but it was too big. YAY...I mean shucks...it was a pretty dress. I have my princess dress, but I would like to get something new for the other formal night. I have a closet full of dresses if I don't find anything new. I also want to get a new little black dress for semi formal since I am so over the one I have now - it's pretty, but I've worn it a lot.

I perused the tiaras at Claires but nothing jumped out at me. I'm still looking.
OK, there was my shopping effort for the next month or 2.

2 hockey games & family swim time before Super Bowl. We are trying to go swimming once a week - we all want to run triathlons this spring and there is an added bonus of the kids being stronger swimmers for TOAL. We found a short, kids only tri in our area and the boys are excited!

Might want to check Ebay. I got a really nice one for $20.00

They're the same people DW got her tiara from on ebay. It came in the other day and looks really nice.

How many formal nights are there? Do I need two formal dresses and one semi formal? Are most of the men renting tuxes for the formal nights? Do they still need to bring a suit for the semi-formal night? What about the kids - does anyone plan to rent a tux for their son? Do the boys still need to bring a suit for the semi-formal? I’ve never been on a cruise where there has been a formal night, so I really know nothing:confused3
