GS = Girl Scouts

They sell cookies as one of their annual fund raisers. Their cookies are obviously legendary over here. They've got several varieties and all are wonderfull. :cloud9:

There's just something about girl scout cookies and boy scout popcorn.

When I get some definitive information back from him. I will be happy to share. This is the email I sent him and his response back.

This is a copy of the email I sent and his reply. I sent him back--no mobility issues and maybe a few would be interested in emerald shopping, but most probably in regular souv. I'll keep you informed about the progress. I used 24 as a number where I thought we would be able to get the best rate.Paula

I believe that in 7 hours (10-5) you should be able to do both. Let me find
out what options are now available for Baru and beach type things, figure
out the lunch possibilities, and then work it into a full day tour with the Old
City as well.

Are there going to be any (all?) of the group that will want emerald and
higher-end shopping options? Only souvenirs?

Also, are there any mobility issues with anyone that I should take into
cosideration?

I did not even realize that Disney was going to have a ship arriving in
Cartagena in the normally "off" month of August. Let me work on this a bit
and get back to you.

So when I get an itinerary back and costs it will be easier to say yes you would be interested. And I am sure that he would be delighted to have a group larger than 24. Chris said that she would help me. :goodvibes

I'm interested in this as well.

talking of that, my son spent today with the cubs and scouts, on scooters on a woodland track, he came 2nd, in his race!!:thumbsup2

Excellent - now why did we not have that as kids - it was knitting & knot tieing & I'm sure they were supposed to have been separate activities!!!:rotfl: DD went on camp in the summer & it included archery, abseiling & canoeing at the rip old age of 7!!!

NEVER, EVER,

You just give it to us, McDonalds, Coke, Disney, Microsoft, (obesity, from food and siting in front of laptops) etc.

But remember it all started here, remember you speak English (albeit customized).

Don't forget Hollywood movies and Apple computers! And if you eat too much, that's your problem -- chips and butter on bread (a butty sandwich) is a British invention, and hardly low calorie . . .

I enjoyed reading about the search for a motto for the British in today's NY Times. Some of my favorites were:

"Once mighty empire, slightly used."
"At least we're not French."

and the top choice,

"No motto please, we're British."

And this was from the British themselves!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Baru Island beach time AND tour of the walled city? Hmmm, keep me posted, please, Paula . . .:thumbsup2

Thankyou - I was beginning to suspect some amazing recipe you had failed t share! It is safe to say that we do not have that in the UK........yet!!!

Ah but they do not have Cadbury's proper Chocolate, the one thing I have never found is good Chocolate in the USA. Hersey's just doesn't do it for me, I toured their factory, it was nice to see, but ah Cadbury's Chocolate! One place we are better than USA, (well that and our TV).

Also, feel free to remove the "poll"

(I only voted for believing in fairies!)

I think we are all for removing the poll -- Crash would do it if he were online.

Tom! Now Tinkerbell can live! You DO believe in fairies, you DO!

Girl scout cookies
http://www.girlscouts.org/program/gs_cookies/cookie_history/

Julie if you are ever interested let me know as many of my friends children are girl scouts and I can get them in the fall when they usually have their sale in our area. My DD used to be but no longer

Jo, seriously -- keep me in mind for this fall. I am definitely good for it, and you have my email and other contact information! A friend of mine led a scout troupe in East Harlem many years ago and I got a steady supply from her girls, but she moved to Brussels:sad2:

I love Cadburys. especially the Flake bar. We do have it here in the States. Publix has a section in their store for our British visitors .They get over $1.00 for the Flake bar. They also sell those cookies you guys are always posting about.

How about Ghiradelli's, from California?

I agree, English Cadbury's is wonderful -- the Dairy Milk is so creamy.:goodvibes

McVittie's digestives????????? I can only find them here in Eli's, which sells a small tube for about $7 . . .

Hollywood, we have have Bond, James Bond, and why do they film here so much?

"Once mighty empire, slightly used." I have a good answer to that, but If I posted it, I would be off these boards for ever, a DJ said it once and got sacked.

"At least we're not French." True, ( apart for 50% of me).

"No motto please, we're British." True ''we're British'' says it all, a touch of class.

Apple computers?

Fish and chips, yes, I accept that one, but in Epcot Harry Ramsdens seems to be very popular.

Now I have to go to bed, so if anyone thinks this is a USA VS UK bash, I am only joking. (crossed fingers) :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

Hershey's manufactures the Cadbury's that is sold in the US. I was thinking they bought the company but they didn't just the right to manufacture and distribute in the US.

Yes, In fact World Market carries them as well. They had a sale right before the Sept Mini meet here and I bought some for Cheryl. I think they go for around 3.50.

I even remember how to multi-quote:lmao:

Hi Laura :wave2:

How ya' doing? I've missed you around here.
Hi there. Thanks

I just saw one of those yesterday - way COOL!!!

And you ARE gorgeous - both inside and out!:goodvibes
Lorri, it is such a fun car to drive. And thank for the compliment. You are too kind, it is you are gorgeous!!!

Couldn't have said it better myself Lorri!!!:goodvibes I am so blessed to know both of you:)
I have to say again, I am the one who feels blessed to call you friends!!

Gabby says Thank You! for all the Birthday wishes.

Hi everyone!
Hi Peter!:hippie:

Happy Birthday Gabrielle!!!

Mark & Laura....nice to "see" you again!
"Right back at ya" as Ellen would say.

I don't particularly liked being hounded by the vendors, but it happens in a lot of ports. I don't mind to say No once or even twice, but continually it gets very old. It especially gets on my nerves when it is done at the shops--if I want something I'll go in. But I tell you Julie, I felt the same way walking around China Town in NYC. Although, I did get some shopping done.:goodvibes

That was awful, wasn't it Paula? I've never had so many people try to sell me a handbag in life!
Hey Lorri, do you want to buy a Prada, Fendi, Gucci :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I really did have a great time in China Town, just wish it hadn't been raining. I could have done a lot more damage. It was nice for all the stores to sell unbrellas though.:rotfl2:

:thumbsup2 That's what I'm thinking I want to do there, buy emeralds.
Sounds Like a Great Plan!!!!!!

Well, even though I did not post the poll, I will apologize to you and all the moderators on behalf of this entire thread . . . as Andrew said before, we all admire the work you do.

Thanks for giving us hope that the old thread can eventually be read again . . .

Thanks for the update! Can't even begin to tell you how much I appreciate all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes by everyone - tech's and mod's alike.

I wouldn't mind if the poll was removed either...
I did not realize that it was Crash who put the poll up. I thought it was the DIS who did it. I wouldn't have voted but I only voted for the fun things. Color me clueless!!! :confused3

In fact they are made here in Louisville at Mother's Cookies. I don't know if they are the only baker for them or not though. My BIL works there. That being said I have not bought a box of cookies in years--I would open it and before I knew what happened the whole box was gone:confused3 :confused3 Now when they are outside the stores selling them, I just give them some money for their troop funds.:)
That's what I do too. I do that when the kids come home from school with fundraisers too.

There's just something about girl scout cookies and boy scout popcorn.
.

Boy Scout popcorn is the best!!!!!

Drat! The Nationals are on and the listing said pairs and dance!. Need to DVR what I can and go on a Rx run before they close. Anyone hear about the Chat tonight yet?
