I found that practicing in deserted parking lots and on the roads when traffic was at its lightest (early morning weekend:confused3 ) was what worked for me to get comfortable driving. Also easier on my parents;)

Our problem is that she can't drive my SUV it is too big. So she needs to drive her smaller car but it is a two seater and Mark is really the only one licensed to drive it so she has to drive it when he is home. And since he travels a lot it can be a pain.

Good morning everyone!

Today is our youngest daughters Birthday. Gabrielle is turning 9. She asked me to make pancakes and a penguin Birthday cake for her. Penguins are her passion. She wants to be a marine biologist and save endangered penguin species.

Happy Birthday Gabrielle!

Yeah, really need the hands on practice. My parents didn't like driving with us kids, so most of my hands on driving was done with the school drivers ed:confused3

I'm so used to driving my mini van now it fells weird to drive my DHs Maxima.

pirate: ing to say Happy Birthday....

I'm lost
When did the poll pop up there??:confused3
How about removing the Poll ...

If anything remove the poll because scrolling past results on each page is annoying!!:headache:

Can I be part of the fan club too:flower3:

:cool2: I'd like to sign up for arena security.....

he has to wait 60 days before he can go again ...

I said okay but if you dont pass again your on a 60 day waiting period till you can test again (not the states Law , but Captains law for not passing it twice )

Ahhh keep to the code...

I didn't pass my written first time out either.... I waited 3 days and then went back and passed no problem... Then i just had wait till i turned 16 for the state to send me my permit. (In pa, you could have done written part 3 months prior back then.) Passed the driving part first time about 1 month after my birthday. Had to get a job that week too so i could get a car....:sad2: and pay my own insurance.

We laugh about that because when I drive her car I feel like I am in a go cart because the Escalade is so much bigger. She has a Solstice.

 My 14 year old is already talking about when he gets his driver's license and watching us as we drive:rolleyes:
It's going to be quite a while before I'm comfortable with him driving:guilty:
How long did it take before you felt Dylan was ready ?

Elizabeth could have gotten her license. Almost a year ago but we didn't feel she was ready. She even has a new car and it is waiting for her but I won't let her drive it until we feel she isn't a hazard to those on the road.

My heart would leave my chest for the 1st few months of Adam's driving. He has been driving for almost 3 years now--no accidents or tickets. But I still very rarely let him drive his friends around and then it is only 1. I think it would be bad enough to have him get hurt while driving--but I don't want him to carry around the guilt of hurting one of his friends.

That's how I feel when I go from driving my Yukon XL to Jordan's Equinox....I feel like I'm sitting on the ground. I better get used to it, though, I've been eyeing the Solstice for myself!! I'm just afraid of all the speeding tickets I'll get if I have a sports car.
Ummm....maybe that's where Jared gets his need for speed. :guilty:

Roger, are you all feeling better now?
Our family has been passing things around lately, too. That's why I was MIA for a while there. I think we have it licked, though. Knock on wood.

I think Dylan has been ready for awhile , he turns 16 in April , but he didnt pass today so now he has to wait 60 days before he can go again ...Oh well ...should have studied harder ...

pirate:

Todd, Adam had to take the permit test 2 times. He didn't study for it the 1st time. He had to wait 1 week before he could try again. Now if he would only study his school assignments that hard.:)

The best part (NOT) about having the kids reach driving age, is having them tell me what I'm doing wrong when I'm driving.
"Mom...you're not supposed to pass in an intersection"
"Mom...you're 10 miles over the speed limit"
"Mom....you're supposed to stop when you run over a jogger"

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Here I think the actual "law" is three strikes, you're out. And then they have to wait. Jordan didn't pass it the first time, so I made her wait a week. She did pass it the second time. She does really well, so I don't worry about her (except for having car trouble) but I don't even want to THINK about when it's Jared's turn!! That boy has a need for speed!
:car:

Adam has that need too! I warned him after I drove with him a couple of times--that if he got a speeding ticket--his license would be turned back into the state. Adding him to the insurance was :scared1: enough without losing the discounts on there.

Well said Stacey!!! You are exactly right and that is why I decided to try to post here again. It has been months but I am starting to plan and I am hoping to get some great ideas.

And we have missed you:flower3: :flower3:

Isn't that what I posted in ''fewer'' words??

Mornin!

That gave me a chuckle!

FYI on the "promised" gifts for the DCL house party. Apparently the list that was previously circulated that included OBC for guests and many other really nice DCL gifts was a proposed list and not finalized and approved by DCL. The House Party folks were not supposed to share that list. So when the finalized party packages were put together, they were very different from the original list. I'll go see if I can find the email that someone received from DCL after complaining about the party package.

For those who don't know, the party packages ended up not being DCL themed. In fact, the cocktail napkins were not even in a package, but just thrown in the box loose. There were Peter Pan paper masks promoting Return to Neverland (maybe 4 or 5), a few Mickey or Goofy pirate ears and a few bandanas. There were other things, but the main issue many hosts had were that there were not 10 of anything to stuff the 10 goodie bags that came with the party pack.

Wow sounds like pass poor planning on DCL's part! In fact it doesn't sound like anybody planned ahead at all! :confused3

Here's the updated players list above.

Add 4 allshookups to the fan list! :cheer2:

Morning everyone.
See we are still here.

Friend of mine sent me an email on an entertainer. Very good.I'll post the link to the Youtube. It is long . 6min but very entertaining.
Here is an explanation of who he is etc. Enjoy

Diane, looks like he will be in Boston May13 -June1

I've never heard of him. That was hysterical, thanks for the link! I'll have to look into getting tickets.

We have gotten so lucky when adding the kids to the insurance. We put them on Jay's '59 Chevy pickup and it only adds $100 a YEAR!
I told him we are not getting rid of that truck until Jared is paying for his own insurance. Like he'd get rid of his "baby" anyway!

We laugh about that because when I drive her car I feel like I am in a go cart because the Escalade is so much bigger. She has a Solstice.

Laura, it is amazing how different driving feels in other cars. I had quite the adjustment when I went srom SUV back to a car. Felt like I was sitting right on the road for awhile.:lmao:
