Facebook's almost as dangerous as the DIS. I got suckered in by my grandmother...
.

I've had several friends pestering me to join FACEBOOK too. I'm still trying to figure out what its' all about.

I have modest concerns over privacy and so on. Plus I've had relatively little time to wander around the web in recent weeks. Sigh....

I was wondering if I'd stump anyone with my cryptic post.

I haven't shared much about this job because I didn't want to jinx anything. A staffing recruiter found my resume on Monster because of my telecom experience. I had a phone interview a few weeks ago and was supposed to have an onsite interview last week but it got postponed. I interviewed on Tuesday and felt that it went well. Got a call from the recruiter today with the offer. It will be a 3 month contract to hire. I plan on making myself so valuable that they will hire me on permanent.

It's a catch all administrative assistant type job in the telecom department of an HMO. I'll be assisting with ordering, contract maintenance, and procedure documentation. Initially a 20% paycut, but once I'm permanent it will only be about a 5% paycut. Full benefits after 30 days, even on contract. Don't know about vacation time yet, probably won't know until the perm. position is negotiated.

Today is 7 months to the day that I was notified about my lay off, 5 months since I've been off payroll.

I'm glad to learn of your successful job offer Monica! We hope the job conditions are all or better then you expect ... and that you subsequently get a good offer for permanent retention.

Hi Ho Hi Ho.....................................Dec 8

  Congrats on the job. We were thinking of you and K and hoping things would work out.:goodvibes

I'm terrified right now and reaching out to anyone and everyone.

There was just a home invasion 2 doors down from me this morning. I heard someone yelling for help, looked out and saw a woman running down the street. I had her come in my house and we called 911. Apparently she was getting ready ot leave for work and went back in the house for something. The guy followed her, brandished a gun and started beating her up. Not sure if he was there to attack her or to rob her. I did see the guy running down the street but didn't see the gun. He roughed her up a bit but she got away but she made sure to wipe her blood on his clothes. Who thinks of that when fighting for their life?

Even more horrible, my DS was right there with me the whole time. We were waiting for his school bus which is why I had the front door open, the screen/security door was still closed though. His bus came before I had a chance to reassure him that it will be okay.

It happened at the same time in the morning that I'll be leaving for work. And this is when my DS's bus comes too. We've had breakins before in the area but usualy when no one is home. My house was broken into once and attempted another (found a busted window). But this is the first I'm hearing of anything this frigtening. And now I'm connected. I hope there won't be any backlash to me. The guy did see what house she ran in to.

I'm glad they caught him. I agree. Have someone come over to check out your weaknesses. I have to get a new security light over the garage as the new neighbor never has her outside lights on and we have woods on that side. I hate walking the dog as it sometimes is creepy. The landscapers cleared out a lot of the bushes. I guess they felt thesame way.

Just stopped by to say HI..

Monica Congrats on the job... :thumbsup2 I am sure you'll make it into permanent.. Also so glad you were there for the neighbor.. she really needed you.. prayers that the crazy person forgets your address..

Hi to all.. nice to chat again.. things have been crazy here. but football season is over for Eric so we don't have to spend every fri nite watching the 5 pm game and then the 7:30 game.. ( Eric played at 5 and then was in the marching band for the 7:30) Geoff and I went to Roanoke Va for a scholarship contest.. he will here from them and the other schools he applied to in december.. not sure how we will pay for college.. but hoping that things work out for hhim.. Work is still the pits... I am waiting to be fired.. DH and I are trying to figure out which one of us is first in the termination area.. I will need to retrain so i can get a job in another field.. Dh wants to retire.. I am so glad we cruised when we did..

Hi Susan. Have a great holiday season. Do you want to get fired or is it something you just know is in the works? I had a job like that once and was actually relieved after. The pressure was killing me.

Maybe we should have a Pirates group there?

My DS never went there but one of his clients needed him to get an id. He has hooked up with so many of his friends from the past. I think we should all go on it.

Missing everyone :sad1: Glad a lot of you are coming down this summer.

If you're the praying kind we could use lots of prayers here...My brother isn't doing too well yesterday or today. He had to go in this morning for several different types of IV's. And he still may need to be hospitalized.

I brought him to my house after his treatment this morning -- his s/o had clients all day.
And to be honest even if he had been home he is not a *caregiver* type, he can't think outside himself. :sad1: We know he isn't trying to be uncaring but, he is. kwim?

Thank you very much!

Hey Steph, you got them all today :grouphug: :grouphug:
Your family is in our thoughts.

Thank y'all so much! This morning he is doing much better - he actually ate a piece of toast and a little scrambled egg! I just hope it lasts.
He still can't be up for longer then a few minutes without laying down. I know it is much easier for him, to get the rest he needs, here at my house.
I am just glad this is a weekend when there is nothing going on for us!

By the end of the weekend I will be better at givng injections, also. ;) This was the first time I've ever had to give someone else a shot -- I've given myself many (insulin) but, never someone else.

DH's biggest fear is that one of us may have germs that we will pass on to DB. Which is why for the most part I am the only one doing things for him.

On a happy note....The kids put up their Christmas tree yesterday. :goodvibes It looks so good -- it's in our *Juliet balconey*. It is definitly a tree decorated by kids! My MIL had quite a few old Disney ornaments that they used on the tree. When we get our decorations out today I'll let them use our ornaments, also.

I wanted to let everyone know that by brother's white blood count is up. :goodvibes

Thank you for all the prayers.

I have a friend who was heading to Aruba on a cruise, so I was sending the Jolly Pirates link. I noticed they had a new webpage layout, so I was checking it out and looking at their photo albums.....

No elected office for most of this group.....

Oh crud! Was someone behind me on rope swing beheading turkeys??

Hey all!
Good to log on and see lots of good news.
Just today I booked a 7 day cruise for this summer. I am going to try very hard (probably impossible) to keep it a secret frmo the girls. The girls have been talking about how much they want to go back.
OK, I am finally ready to admit the weirdest side affect of the cruise. I keep "seeing" everyone from the cruise all over the place. I will catch myself smiling at someone who I initially think was from the cruise and then it hits me they do not live in Dallas area. It is just so funny how many twins y'all all got out there. ;)
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Coral
